  • There is something special about the Fuji XF 35mm F1.4 lens. It was one of the first lenses for the X-Mount system and is still an amazing lens today.

I usually tend to play educational or informative videos at 1.5x or 2x playback speed but doing the same with yours feels illegal. I love the way you present information, in a way that is so meta-reflective of what you are informing the viewers about. It’s education about art through art. Keep up the good work, always a joy to see your videos!

Im a Film and TV student, literally only just starting, and I've had I have had photography as a hobby for a while now but I always wanted to find more inspiration on TH-cam, I always wanted a certain look from photos and it was something I could never describe. I found this channel probably a week ago now and I was amazed out how perfectly you captured my dream style of photography and videography, just watching your videos on repeat created this unreal feeling of finding someone to watch and learn from every second of the day. So I would like to say thanks for being my source of inspiration for the future ahead.

Wow. Wow. Wow. This video just completely stopped me in my tracks. I had to watch the whole thing. The smooth switch in the beginning from regular narrator to the alternate “character” was such a chilling introduction, and having then both exist simultaneously is so jarring in the best way possible. Every time the character switched I got chills.
I also absolutely love the aesthetic here. The color grading is top tier. The B-Roll is amazing. All the scenes are consistent with the aesthetic, like the video is shot within another worlds military compound. This was just so refreshing and unique - standing ovation coming from me. I love how as time passes, you're diving deeper and deeper into this retro-cyberpunk aesthetic universe in your reviews. Soon, you'll do reviews in the style of Narita Boy, all pixellated, and in 256 colors ^^.
I never had the chance to play with the 35mm f1.4, despites having quite a few Fuji lenses in my hand (including the f2 version). After playing with some manual lenses at this focal length (an old Nikkor f2.8, and the phenomenal Mitakon f0.95mII), I didn't feel the need to get yet another 35mm, but a friend of mine who swears only by this lens for years had definitely got me curious about it. Now your review too. I may scratch that itch someday soon.

Ohhhh i was thinking this or the 27mm or 16mm 1.4

    • @KingFiercer_zip
      @KingFiercer_zip ปีที่แล้ว

@@ville2536 16mm is quite hefty lens for such small body as X-E4. 18, 27, 35 and 50 will be more comfortable. There are also good and comapct Sigma 30mm and 56mm f/1.4, but without aperture ring. If size and weight are not an issue, the more inexpensive Sigma 16mm f/1.4 can also be considered.

Nicely made episode. I have that 50mm f1.1 lens on a Leica camera and love using the lens for everything!

I really love mine for portraits. The character of this lens is kind of unmatched, this is why Fuji still sell this lens together with the new 33 f1.4.

@@segzeeman7356 Just my two cents but the pixie dust starts to shower down for me at f4-f5.6 on a relatively sunny day so ISO can sit below 800 or so..

It was my favorite Fujifilm lens for sure (currently using Canon RF) Other lenses that I liked were 16mm f 1.4 and 90mm f 2. Those three just had something in them. 35mm f 1.4 is something special indeed. That "look" just has something in it. It gives photos certain "old and slightly imperfect" look that no other Fuji lens can produce. If I ever return to Fujifilm X system, I will definitely get this lens again

I bought the 60mm f2.4 this summer as I needed something with a bit more range but not much more size. Another Fuji classic. And I was blown away by the look you can get with it. It also focuses fast enough on an X-Pro3 nowadays. The size and weight are great too. Feels really well balanced on that camera.

35 F1.4 and 60 F2.4 are two of the most interesting in terms of rendering and character. Unfortunately, Fujii's most artistic lenses have proven to be very undervalued these days.
I also have them, I don’t want to buy others, I definitely won’t sell these.

@@mainquestion Agree! I would be very curious to get a GxAce treatment of the Voigtländer 23mm f1.2. It's gotten rather negative review so far, but it might be because people look at sharpness first and not so much at the character of the lens. Would love to get a different perspective for it. That's pretty much the only lens that I'd still want to have for Fuji...

Yes! Those two are favourites of mine as well (35 1.4 and 60 2.4). I also regret selling the 27mm 2.8, which had a very nice rendering character as well.

I really love the images I get with this lens. I just finished a summer long project of visiting about a dozen or so county fairs & local festivals all around my home town. 90% shot on this lens -- really has a great look to it that was perfect for this project.

@@seed157 Normally I shoot in raw & then get the look in post with capture one. I do occasionally bake in a look (usually classic chrome or astia) but I like working with a sorta blank slate in post later on.
