Lowry was going to be traded before they got lucky in the lottery and drafted Barnes. The trade was made official August, but he would have been dealt at the deadline had the Lakers in particular not been so skint. This was also the season they played zero home games due to covid and tanked.

I don't see Giannis happening, but Siakam is an All-NBA caliber player in his own right and Barnes can potentially fill in the defensive hole O.G. leaves.
Add Poeltl, Trent Jr., Schröder, McDaniels, the potential of Koloko and Dick as bench pieces, it's not crazy to think they could be a contender with Dame.
The only person that can fill OG defensive role is precious. Barns still has a long way to improve on the defensive end.

I actually admire Miami for backing out of this deal, as a Raptors Fan it is quite concerning if you let go of too many assets. Be really logical about this like Miami and walk out when it is unrealistic. I highly doubt this would happen, if Pat Riley backed out you should be very concerned.
