Yeah. Thats exactly what i think too. I havent eaten meat/fish for almost 30years, because i simply dont feel like i need those, also it doesnt appeal to me as taste/smell/texture/everything. But i never ate fake anything, im pure organic, grow big part of my own stuff etc. I really dont get it why people eat fake anything; its gotta be that they have fake brain or something, if their thinking and reasoning is on that level. 🤪

    2:16 Impossible Burger Ingredients:
    • Soy protein isolate: which are GMO
    • Potato protein
    • Cultured dextrose: Cultured synthetic sugar
    • Modified food starch: MFS is maltodextrin which is higher than sugar on the glycemic index
    • Methylcellulose: which is for the texture and who knows what it will do to your gut microbes. It's a synthetically made product and it's processed and inflammatory. But they have to use it to give you the texture of meat.
    • Soy leg hemoglobin: It's a bioengineered protein from soy which gives you the taste of meat, the texture of meat, but it's not meat. Because it's not really classified as a food, it's not recognized as being safe and there's no long-term safety studies so who knows what it's going to do to the population.
    3:51 Beyond Burger Ingredients:
    • Pea protein isolate: very highly processed protein
    • Canola oil: it's GMO oil
    • Rice protein
    • Mung bean protein
    • Methylcellulose: Explained above
    • Potato starch
5:02 What is it about cows that are grazing in the pasture that is so healthy? From the book "Soil, Grass & Cancer" The link between human and animal health and mineral balance of the soil: Cows are the best way to make soil very very fertile. How? Through cow pie (manure). The cow pie is the ultimate fertilizer. It's loaded with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium that goes right back in the soil. It also has carbon that is put back into the soil as well. But most importantly, it puts the microbes back in the soil and it's really the concentration and the density of those microbes in the soil that makes the plant nutrient dense, the animal nutrient dense, it all comes from the microbe.
6:56 The way that a plant gets its nutrients is through the microbes dissolving minerals from rocks and then exchanging with the plant root carbohydrates that feed the microbe and then the microbes give the plant nutrients like certain minerals.
7:12 There's another mechanism where a plant gets its nutrients. It'll actually attract microbes and suck the microbe right into the root and into the plant and extract nutrients from the microbe like nitrogen phosphorus and other minerals. Then it pushes the microbe back into the soil to recycle and get more nutrition to bring it right back in. There's a whole machine going on in the soil level that the plant is dependent on that microbe and that's called the Rhizophagy Cycle. Rhizo means root and phagy means eat.
8:08 To create health we need nutrient dense foods and the only way to get the nutrient dense foods is to consume food that's grown on nutrient dense soils. That's not what you get with these fake meats.
    Thank you Dr. Berg

Dr B, as you already know, here in South Carolina. Farmers are planting vegetables in sandy soil with zero nutrients. Soils that our grandparents let grow up in scrub Oaks because they knew it wouldn't grow anything. Now with new gmo chemicals and tons of artificial fertilizer, farmers are producing vegetables that have no taste and probably do more harm than good for our bodies. Don't worry though, farmers are selling their land to build subdivisions for all the new people. So who's going to plant food to feed them all and where?

Spoke to the president about fencing off an area for gardening in the complex and he looked at me like I had 2 heads. All boils down to $$$$$$$$$ and what the people want in my complex.

Coca leave is not addictive but cocaine is. Corn on a cob is fine until it's processed into high fructose corn syrup. Eat foods that are whole and natural.

Carrageenan, I've heard, is what they use to induce irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in lab rats when they want to test IBS medications on animals.
Several years ago, I noticed that I was getting a very weird feeling in my throat after eating ice cream. I was super bummed out because I thought that that might mean that I was starting to be lactose intolerant, and dairy foods are some of my favorite foods.
But I did a little experimenting and discovered that other dairy foods weren't giving me the weird feeling. I finally narrowed down the list of culprits, and it was only low fat ice creams that were the issue.
Carrageenan is in all of the low fat ice creams because it's a gel and manufacturers think that it simulates the mouth-feel of real cream. (It does not. Make your own full fat ice cream at home, and you will never eat that processed, snotty trash ever again).
Now they've started adding it to cream, coffee creamers, milk teas, yogurts, salad dressings, and apparently vegan "cheese". Always check labels, even if you think you're buying just plain cream. The last thing anybody needs is IBS.

I fell for the marketing and tried a "beyond burger" at a local fast food establishment. I was surprised that I enjoyed the taste more than I expected and satiated me at the time. That wore off much, much faster than a real burger would have and I spent the rest of the day grazing and feeling hungry. I didn't like that trigger so I looked into the ingredients and I will not be eating that again. I am chronically anemic so I need all the iron I can get into me. I would much rather have a grass-fed Black Angus cheeseburger than fake meat any day! Before I realized I was anemic - poultry would have been my go to but now I choose beef more often than not as my meal option.

    Dear Dr Berg,
An an Australian descended from dairy farmers, I can offer some insight in our farming practices.
Over here, pastured meat and dairy are the norm and it is what our supermarkets are stocked with.
Grain fed beef, on the other hand, is raised and sold for export only.
Much of the soil in Australia is degraded and nutrient poor. Arable crop land makes up a very small percentage.
In fact, I remember landowners successfully protesting a proposed mine because they would lose valuable cropping land. They won.
Not all farming land is suitable for crops, but is suitable for livestock grazing.
For livestock, you don’t need to clear the trees. It doesn’t matter if the land has hills and valleys, or is rocky. Livestock can graze in bush land without disturbing the native wildlife. Livestock gradually turn the land into fertile land.
Livestock, eg. Cattle, can also graze on native grasslands, native saltbush, and right beside national parks.
The old colonial droving trails are still protected under law too. It’s a win win. Cattle graze down the dry grasses and it lowers the risk of bushfires.
After travelling to the USA twice, I was shocked that intensive farming is normal over there and buying properly raised animal products costs so much more than the substandard, subsidised food on the store shelves.
That is what happens over time when you take the traditional, family owned farms and businesses and replace them with huge corporations who care about profit. Both the animals and consumers suffer.
I also spent years working in the meat industry. When I did Quality Control, I could tell you the difference between a caged chicken and a free range bird by looking at the cuts of meat, the bones and joints. Caged birds had osteoporosis (slaughtered at 2 years old), their thigh bones would often shatter when being loaded onto the kill floor machinery. They had zero cartilage left. They would often suffer excess bruising and infected abscesses in their flesh.
The free range chickens had strong bones, healthy cartilage and no bruising or infections.
I have always said that we are only as healthy as the food we eat, whether animals or plants.

Nice video I remember when these fake meats came out it seemed like everyone was excited. I ate them for a while, but then the more I looked at the ingredients the more I questioned them.
I have had inflammation issues before and find that i have the most energy and least inflammation when I simply eat real food (not processed food).
So now I try to focus on eating real food mostly (organic fruits and veggies, free range eggs, grass fed beef, wild caught salmon). I still enjoy a slice of pizza and an iced coffee ☕️ sometimes and make exceptions but try to eat more real food when I can.

Could you interview Elaine Ingram? She is phenomenal on rebuilding the microbiome in the soil, and has classes to help people.

I've tried the Beyond Burger, and they're pretty tasty. But I didn't know about the ingredients. Thanks for this deep dive into fake meats. A real eye opener. 😲

There’s a lot of evidence that our mass food production, specifically cows, are contributing to global warming, pollution and other environmentally-negative effects -- not to mention the radically inhumane animal conditions. We can’t sustain the massive amount of beef needed with the current American diet without mass production or a shift to plant-based diets. Grass-fed beef feeds very few in the population and is too costly and not accessible for most, unfortunately. I have personally made a decision to not consume meat any longer. Meat substitutes may not be the most nutritionally-sound products however they do provide a satisfying occasional substitute. As with most things in life, moderation is key.

Been vegan for almost a year. Just started eating fish again. My diet got worse when I went vegan cause I ate more processed food than when I ate meat. Not sure if I'll eat red meat again, but I'm still working things out. Great video.

Dr. Berg you're so sweet and NAIVE that the general population will be able to change their purchasing habits. It's a lot of work for someone to study all this and go thru the frustration of finding sources of affordable high quality meat and vegetables. This knowledge of the importance of regenerative farmer has been around since the early 1900's but industrial farming has blown right past them and modern americans want convenience and cheap. Masanobu Fukuoka in Japan, Bill Mollison in Australia in the 60's and many others. We have contemporary farmers like Mark Shephard in Wisconsin (pigs and apples) and Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm in Virginia (cows and chickens) have been preaching permaculture for a couple decades now. Polyface offers tours and Mr. Salatin is extremely active in education and coaching young permaculture farmers. He's not a nutritionist per se but he'd probably love to be interviewed on your channel or have you tour his farm.

I like Salatin too. It's hard right now though with inflation. People are living on rice and beans as it is.😔 People are guzzling meds and seeing doctors weekly. I'm hoping for an awakening. Nutritional science is moving ahead. Leaving vegans behind. (They're the flat earthers of nutrition).😆😂😂

This is why for the 20+ years that I was vegetarian/vegan I never ate this imitation food. What’s the point of eating foods that imitate the real stuff??? Just eat the veg!!! It’s safer.
