I saw an earlier video you made several years ago and started taking Magnesium glycinate. Before I started taking them I had swollen lower legs and ankles, restless legs at night and night cramps. Since taking the tablets every evening I rarely get any of the symptoms. I recently took two 6 hour flights and suffered from no swelling of my feet and ankles. My resting heartbeat is only 54 and at the age of 75 I gather that is very good. I would recommend magnesium to anybody. Thank you for putting out these videos.

I use magnesium threonate for restless legs. It is the only thing that helps my restless legs and would be very miserable without it. Good to know that it is helping others bodily functions at the same time. I agree that doctors are brain washed by the pharmaceutical industry! My doctor only offers drugs with hideous side effects for restless legs. Otherwise she is unconcerned and clueless.

Because of your (and other Social Media Info), I started taking Magnesium Taurate a few months ago and really have no idea if it helps. My GP discovered I have AFIB and had no idea since I had no symptoms of that either. My lack of feelings (awareness) troubles me. I've never really been sick except for occasional colds and flu in the winter. No female problems, never been in the hospital, have a healthy appetite and sleep well. I have moderately high BP (140/92) and slightly high cholesterol and have taken Lisinopril and Lovastatin for many years. But I feel fine, have always been active and have taken Jazzercise, Zumba and various exercise programs. High BP, Strokes and Heart Attacks run in my family and most have died from it so I figured it would be my fate one day also. Thanks to Dr. Gupta's videos, I've become somewhat educated and aware that I do and can have a role in my health. There are many things one can do but first have to become somewhat educated and involved. There are natural, self inflected and hereditary illnesses, and medications, treatments and cures. And there is eventual death. That's life and its precious. Take care of it, live it as long as you can.

I appreciate doctors like you who respect the patient's right to be well informed about their health concerns and the treatments being prescribed!
My doctor who is also a functional medicine advocate recommended magnesium glycinate for my elevated blood pressure, and since taking it (along with daily exercise and better diet) i noticed that I've been getting better sleep, am much less frequently anxious and have stopped getting ectopic heartbeats. Blood pressure has also improved. I'm happy because the amlodipine a previous doctor gave me made me feel frail and lightheaded and consequently more anxious about my health. I wanted a more holistic treatment, not simply be given meds for every symptom I feel.

Hi Dr, 3.5 years ago I had muliple and pretty severe atrial fibrillation events over a 3 month period ... very scary ... following your advice back then I started taking magnesium taurate tablets (also stopped drinking) and I can safely say to this day I haven't had another epidose at all. Can't imagine it's just a coincidence. To the multiple people here who've mentioned palpitations then I can really recommend magnesium taurate tablets. Over about the last 6 months I've taken to only have one a day as I also take a multi vitamin and mineral tablet (that also has magnesium in) so I fugured one tablet of taurate was sufficient to keep me ticking over.

Magnesium chloride is fully ionised and the only form worth taking, if I have cramps and take magnesium chloride to get fid of them, then I get complete relief in a minute or two. If I take exercise my magnesium demand is increased. School biology teaches you all this if you listen.

Thank you, Dr. Gupta (there is another Dr. Sanjay Gupta on the U.S. CNN channel!) for this video. I recently learned from another YT video of magnesium's benefits and I wish I had known about it YEARS ago! My Mom died from heart disease as did her Dad - and my brother has had two heart "events". I also have all the symptoms of low magnesium (which of course, can be attributed to other things as well) - but have found my arthritis pain feels to have really lessened (after about 1 month taking the supplement - magnesium citrate) and my mild depression also seems to be almost non-existent. Of course I realize there can be a lot of variables (and the placebo effect) that can make me feel like the magnesium has helped me. But knowing the benefits of magnesium and my personal and family history, I will continue to take the supplement and also reduce the "bad behaviors" that contribute to magnesium loss.

I tried magnesium for night leg cramps and it eliminated them completely, and also on long distance runs. I had been blaming lack of sodium for cramping up, but it was really magnesium deficit, as you need magnesium for the delivery of potassium and sodium to the muscles, so you long distance runners might try this. It helped with my sleep and I feel calmer. Notably my blood pressure has dropped from 120/70 to 117/60 and at times lower. Really beneficial in so many ways.

Hi there, thank you, I will pass on your thanks to Dr Gupta who recorded this video for us. In terms of the different forms, taurate, glycinate, citrate, threonate and malate are all well absorbed and effective. Depending on your health goal you may want to choose a specific form based on the additional biochemical actions of the compound. For example we'd typically recommend magnesium taurate for the heart and blood pressure specifically due the beneficial actions of taurine on the cardiovascular system. You can't go wrong with any of them and there isn't yet enough research to rule out that the beneficial effects associated with one form, doesn't also apply to the others.

I started on fermented foods and drinks first to heal my digestive system. Within 3 months. My supposed IBS of 40 years. Had dissapeared. Hippocrates the father of modern medicine stated" All disease begins in the gut" How right he was. Research now shows nearly all dis- ease mental and physical , auto immune can be traced back to diet, microbiome health. General health. We should all be taking vit D3 in the UK. Which boosts our immune system. ( discovered during the pandemic) But i knew long before that. And magnesium. Its a stressfull society. We dont get outside. Mass produced food is so lacking in vits and mins supermarkets. Plus junk food. You are what you eat. Thats how you stay well. Excercise. Look after your body. Drs only see you when you are already unwell. But so many of these illnesses could be prevented with knowledge. Save the NHS a fortune and peoples lives.!!

About a month ago I started taking Magnesium. My BP has never been better! 122/75.

I have been taking magnesium glycinate daily for 22 months. I play basketball a few times a week, eat well (no processed foods or soda, lots of veggies and hardly any red meat) We eat lots of broccoli, almonds, flax seeds, arugula, etc. I had an Afib episode just before starting to take the magnesium 22 months ago. I had not had another Afib until last week when I had run out of magnesium for about a week. I don't know if there is any correlation but I picked up my magnesium and hope I am back on track. Thanks for doing all you do and the information you so generously provide so many.

I am happy to leave a comment, per your suggestion, although I do not see much evidence that you are engaging with your subscribers and listeners below. Nevertheless I will comment.
My comment is that for about five or six years I have been taking magnesium. I became a new nurse at about that time and learned of course all about electrolytes. Upon having pretty fast heart rates from time to time (subsequently dx with SVTs, which has been unconcerning to my 2 cardiologists) one of which necessitated a call to EMS here in the States, I figure out that obviously the heart is a muscle and magnesium can calm muscle spasms and is often used in various situation in pregnancy and I just put two into together and just started taking it on my own without knowing much more beyond that. Just the basics of what I had been learning in nursing school. At about this same time, I did go to a cardiologist here in the United States and you might be able to guess what he thought after doing an echo and I think maybe we did a Zio patch. (At my request.) His advice was he could, but didn't have to, start me on either at a beta blocker and/or potassium. Well I certainly did not want potassium! And I didn't feel like a beta blocker that point was necessary. It just seemed incredibly uncreative to me. I've since changed cardiologists but she also suggested beta blockers if I wanted (I do not). Overall, I have not had a run of SVTs that was noticeable to me since 2020, knock on wood. And when I had to call EMS in 2020, I had actually stopped taking the mag for roughly 6 mos to one year. So I know what mag can do!

I credit Magnesium for alleviating my AFIB-like symptoms that were detected by my Fitbit watch. I take a 300mg pill twice a day, the last just before bedtime. According to the label this compound is 90% Magnesium oxide and 10% Magnesium citrate/carbonate. When this runs out I will resupply with 100% Magnesium citrate. Also, I take Magnesium with vitamin D, zinc and time-release, no-flush niacin if that is of interest to anyone.

Great video, very clear info and not too long. I found it very beneficial. I am taking the glycinate form before bed as it is said to aid restful sleep. Recently I have heard from a website (DR Sarah Myhill) that taking epsom salts (magnessium sulphate) via a nebuliser is a safe way to get Magnesium, bypassing the absorption issues of the gut. Would you agree with this? Long term this would be a very cheap way of taking in Magnesium (nebulisers are surprisingly cheap online,) especially for someone who has had gut issues since birth such as myself.

BUT you have foods with cofactors like magnesium, zinc, vitamin D. Fish for example but you dont necessarily need as much when you eat a low inflammatory diet.
Also, Ive noticed Taurate being mentioned this is a non-essential amino acid which becomes a little more needed as you age. It is found naturally in most amounts in seafood but also organs like beef heart. Its in fresh blood, such as how animals used to be utilised. I only said, seafood has it because people are picky and fussy what they eat and just dont eat organs....
Anyone on antihypertensive medication should be careful of how much Pill form Taurine they have it can dramatically affect blood pressure, lowering it.
Magnisum citrate has been mentioned by Dr. Paul Mason too
Good video, watched it all through :D
I would try to get Magnesium from Meat as it has co-factors but no anti-factors (such as Oxalates (spinach is extremely high) etc)

One of the main side effect of oral Mg is diarrhoea ( loose stooles), also as the doctor mentioned about the factors inhibiting the absorption of it. Hence my family use Mg spray.. spray it on the skin, easily absorbed and no side effects ( initial stinging - depends on how low levels of Mg you have). Easily you can get this online- Magnesium Chloride spray. This is a game changer.
By the way... its very very hard to find doctors like you who really stand for patients and not for pharmaceutical companies.
