Day In The Life Vlog - My Year Leave Of Absence Has Begun!

Hello friends!
I have officially started my LOA. As I have mentioned in past vlogs, Matt and I have bought a house in Nova Scotia. We have been working since we were teenagers and parents for about the same amount of time. The two of us starting feeling burnt out and began looking for a new adventure. We had hoped to build a house in Northern Ontario but the cost of building went up to high for us to do so we found ourselves looking for something else. We have never seen the house in NS or visited the area. Matt has never been to NS at all. In order for Matt and I to fund a year off from work we have to sell our home in Ontario. This doesn't make sense to everyone and frankly I don't care for now it is what works for us. This first week off didn't really feel the way that I thought it would. While it was awesome not having the responsibility of going to work it was a week on catching up on appointments.....the bagel and coffee shop though hit! It was awesome to sit alone with my thoughts and crunch into a big delicious fresh made bagel!!! I am so happy and fortunate to be able to take this year off but it doesn't come without risks. We could and probably are selling ourselves out of the Ontario housing market, our family isn't very happy with us and we have no idea what we are really getting into. What we do know is that we have lived for our kids and parents our entire adult lives and we are taking time to be selfish 360 days, 12 months or 52 weeks. We could always find reasons to say but we are taking a leap. At first I felt compelled to explain why to people but I don't anymore. The why is simply because we want to. We want a year together, exploring a new place, puttering around a new house, have coffee looking out at the lake from our porch or driving to the lighthouse to watch the Ocean waves crash! I am excited even if no one "gets it". I love my family and they are 100% my entire world. I feel like I need to do this and I will be a better person for having done so!
