You know it's a good day when a new video in this awesome series shows up. My compliments to you - this stuff is fascinating and extremely well filmed.
No absolutely not! You have to end immediately your vacation and come back to work. We, your patrons, want one more video as a gift. Congratulations, big hug, health and peace to the next 2024!
I have been a motorcycle mechanic for 38 years and have seen a lot of restorations. Never have I witnessed work approaching your level of quality. You have inspired me to do better. I thank you! I am about to begin restoration of my very tired Kawasaki ZRX 1200R. I miss the old girl.
I would doubt that any engine would have been shown this much love and attention to detail on it's original assembly at the factort where it was made, amazing!!!!
Just goes to show what a combination of insane skills, cleanliness, and exactly the right tools can accomplish. I'm 77 and a life long rider/builder and boy am I impressed!
This is my favourite series of yours so far, I’m really enjoying watching the transformation. I have an ‘05 VFR800 and these videos really inspire me to get the tools out and complete projects on that bike, thanks for sharing your work with us!
Love your videos! Not only are you showing all the steps in a TRUE professional restoration, but your cuts, editing, and scene setup are brilliant as well. Merry Christmas!
Sometimes I dream of buying an old neglected R1 and have the skills to make it like you, better than new. Then I just sit and enjoy your video. You're stunning. Congrats
With all this carb rebuilding i can't wait to see how you sync em, syncing carbs by vacuum is so damn fascinating. The bike is coming along great and of course, incredibly craftsmanship as always.
I just went to my local motorcycle dealership and they had a honda vfr750r rc30 just setting there. First time in my life, i almost fell over from shock. Looked just like your vfr400.
I have to say, nothing supprises me with you as you appear to be the god of restoration, but that's not to say you fail to impress. Im always amazed at what you can do, particularly in house. You're a one stop shop, and I'd love to entrust you with my ZX7R one day.
I look forward to this before bed later on. Watching all again soon with my 15 year old daughter who wants to ride and work on motorcycles. Great work 👏🏼
On most carbed bikes on this vintage, those rubber diaphragms are NLA and thus priceless. When I have mine out, I clean them and coat them with a thin layer of silicone grease (Dow Corning high vacuum grease). Do this, and they'll last forever.
Great job, I love your work. I have an 88 VFR750 I'm doing up and I'm kinda stuck at putting the carb linkages back together. I was a bit disappointed when you finally got to that part and did the old finger click and they just appeared finished. Excellent work though, I love seeing old bikes given a new life. Keep up the good work.
I might be an old bastard. But the bike sitting there with the headlights on at 17:57 reminded me of an old movie called *'The Dirt Bike Kid'* from 1985. That scene where Jack (Peter Billingsley) snuck into the garage in the middle of the night after being grounded by his mum and slowly piecing the bike back together after stripping it down for cleaning.
G’day mate that is a top job that you are doing on that 400 it’s a credit to you and really shows your skills. Thank you for filming it, I had a Honda V4 1000 FF which I fully flailed it great bike out of many I owned. Kind regards John
As usual you have done an outstanding job of sorting that legend of a motorcycle and like you said for a first start she sounded beautiful, I have great expectations for part 8 and cant wait.
Stupidly watched the video as soon as it came out,,,, now I need more and know I will have to wait!!! Awesome series, well shot and edited. Excellent work RRC👍👍
I was loaned one of these by the wonderful Garry Mitchell at B&M motorcycles (now Fastline) while waiting for my NC29 to arrive, the NC30 was a great bike, looked amazing in the Ceed racing colours and while not as comfortable as the NC29 it seemed a lot more focussed with its race like tall 1st gear and beautiful build quality, very happy times, nice to see your beautiful restoration coming along, would love to see you restore an early Gsxr750 or 1100 slingshot.
The bike looks absolutely mental. It makes me wanna do my fz6 look like this but it i won't be able to cope with the wear of everyday use. Greetings from Greece.
I'd like to see if you can restore to some usable state the plastic under tray now that you have the mint one as a guide, if only to show plastic parts restoration. Love the project. 😊
At 13:30 personnaly I'm done with measuring the float height and getting no fuel or a big leakeage. All of this because the distance between the axis of the float and the measured point on the float ( big ) is subject of misundestranding with the distance between the axis and the valve ( small ). I have replaced this by a level test with fuel with an external small transparent tube from the drain hole and with the carburetors angled in the right position. For those very inclined ones it must be "funny". For the rest all what you do is a work of art, bravo !!!!!!!!!
haha yeah very posh but maybe a tad small I think I'll struggle to get a wheel into it, time to design a MK3 haha. All the best to you as well my friend :)
Great job mate, the NC30 is looking sweet, it's bringing back memories of my own restoration about 10 years ago. I did notice one small thing you missed. there's a small foam strip that's used as a sub filter on the back right of the airbox where the two hoses connect to. It's listed in the parts diagram but it's no longer available if i recall correctly. You can just cut a small strip of appropriate foam for it. Exhaust sounded a little loud too, might be a small hole somewhere but the engine sounds sweet!
awesome as always. what amazes me is that there is no wrestling with tools or parts to be put back. They all behave and conduct themselves beautifully. thanks mate. Hope you have a peaceful christmas and a pleasant holiday..
Hi. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to make these videos as you do! They are brilliant. I loved this series on the 400 and also your CR250 series. I have an RVF400 and a TS250ER that both need restoring, so your series of videos has given me the boost and info I needed to get on with it! Its so hard to find quality, well prepared and thought out videos that flow so fantastically well as yours on youtube!! Others usually have some guy whittering on nonsensically, with bad audio and lighting, about something totally unrelated to the job in hand and don't show anywhere near enough of the process and detail. I will start looking through your other videos. I'd love to see some specifically on your plating processes, with more about the individual chemicals you use for each finish etc. Thanks for sharing your projects and putting out the videos you do! Dave
Tsubaki whale chain cutter, hats off lad you never fail to impress, amazing work as usual, engine sounds amazing. cant wait for your next episode, love your editing
It’s actually getting like Santa now. Won’t find out until the actual day what we get. But man your killing it !. I love the detail in your vids. Keep us waiting. I’ll wait until riding season starts 👍🏻👌🏻
Super job, well done sir. Especially enjoyed the obligatory nod to the best bike in the known and unknown universe, the Ducati 916. And I'm keeping mine😊
Nah, my favorite channel on YT by faaaaar!! Keep it up!!! You inspire me to restore worthy things I have. At the time I am restoring my 12 gauge Beretta A303 shotgun along other projects
I agree with the comments below… I love these, I haven’t the time to restore anything… so watching someone who’s really good at it, is a joy! Thanks for the entertainment, happy Christmas and all that !! 🎉
So nice to hear the sweet purr of the engine, the shame is next time it needs a rebuild it will be finacially unviable to get the spares needed and the poor thing will get scraped
Cheers buddy :) That's actually a really sad thought but 100% accurate as I know just how hard it was to come by parts this time around, But on a brighter note this one shouldn't need anything for a long time now :)
You know it's a good day when a new video in this awesome series shows up. My compliments to you - this stuff is fascinating and extremely well filmed.
Ditto. Looking fwd to the paint job. Race colours??? There's that Carbon mudguard he was toying with too.
Sounded like it was on 3 cyl 😢 lovely work I love these bikes.
Any of his videos are good. I'm always waiting to see what he does next.😊
@@vxlgsisounded like a healthy nc30 to me ie half sowing machine 😂
No absolutely not! You have to end immediately your vacation and come back to work. We, your patrons, want one more video as a gift.
Congratulations, big hug, health and peace to the next 2024!
I have been a motorcycle mechanic for 38 years and have seen a lot of restorations.
Never have I witnessed work approaching your level of quality.
You have inspired me to do better. I thank you!
I am about to begin restoration of my very tired Kawasaki ZRX 1200R.
I miss the old girl.
Do it! Send vids! Be thorough!
Rusty old floor jack for an engine lift, toaster oven for a powdercoating kiln. I love it. Ingenuity at its finest.
I think the engineers from Honda should give you an award. 🙇♂️👑👑
I would doubt that any engine would have been shown this much love and attention to detail on it's original assembly at the factort where it was made, amazing!!!!
the sound was so clean even on first start
I know very impressive, especially since the carbs are way out of balance just goes to show how good Honda engineers are :)
Just goes to show what a combination of insane skills, cleanliness, and exactly the right tools can accomplish. I'm 77 and a life long rider/builder and boy am I impressed!
And....I just bought an H1 Mach 111. It's all your fault sir.
This is my favourite series of yours so far, I’m really enjoying watching the transformation. I have an ‘05 VFR800 and these videos really inspire me to get the tools out and complete projects on that bike, thanks for sharing your work with us!
Thank you so much really happy to hear you are enjoying it and its inspired you to get the tools out :)
Brilliantly talented, meticulous, and super well organised , just awesome 👌
Once again, a thoroughly therapeutic 30-odd minutes watching you do what most of us can only imagine doing! Thanks!
Wow!! I absolutely love this one!! Grea job on the bike man. Its so impressive to watch your builds take shape. Greetings from Kentucky USA
After 5 years of watching RRC. you still blow me away with your knowledge and skills. This resto is great
Let's appreciate all the camera angles he films, easily the best editor on wrenching TH-cam! Fair play, sir, must be tough to edit it all
Love your videos! Not only are you showing all the steps in a TRUE professional restoration, but your cuts, editing, and scene setup are brilliant as well. Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much for that kind comment it means a lot to me :) Merry Xmas to you too.
Couldn't have said it better. I edit for a living and RRC is clearly a natural. Impeccable job.
I love the multiple camera angles, the transitions are so seamless it looks like magic :D
The skills, the patience, the camera work. Top shelf stuff. An absolute joy to watch.
I smile when i heard first engine starting up 😂
I’m loving this series. I had a 93 VFR750, it was such a fantastic bike. The work you’re doing on this one is stunning.
Your attention to detail is definitely what is missing in today's market. Subpar work expecting premium pay! Thank you for your videos
Meticulous attention to detail, sets this video apart. Excellent! ;0)
Skill on level that is hard to find these days……brilliant!
You know it’s a good day when RRC and My Mechanics put out a video on the same day. 😎
Datsun 😎
It is indeed, Hope you enjoyed it :)
Beautiful!!!
Those radiators must of cost a fortune.
What a beautiful job.
Thanks for sharing such a marvelous rebuild
I was ridiculed by someone for saying I crank the engine without starting it to fill the oil ways. Great series of video by the way.
Watching RRC re-plating is my Christmas gift to myself.
Sometimes I dream of buying an old neglected R1 and have the skills to make it like you, better than new. Then I just sit and enjoy your video. You're stunning. Congrats
Oh.... Haud oan a minute. Coffee, comfortable chair and the best half hour of the week !!!
With all this carb rebuilding i can't wait to see how you sync em, syncing carbs by vacuum is so damn fascinating. The bike is coming along great and of course, incredibly craftsmanship as always.
Its quite a fun job if you have all the gear if not a little fiddly especially with the way the carbs are on this bike but satisfying none the less :)
So organised and attention to detail is brilliant. Even when disconnecting the fuel supply you put a rag underneath to catch any drips. 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much I'm really happy to hear you enjoy my work :)
Can't wait to see how the bike is coming along
I just went to my local motorcycle dealership and they had a honda vfr750r rc30 just setting there. First time in my life, i almost fell over from shock. Looked just like your vfr400.
I would park that bike in the living room, it is from such an iconic line up of motorcycles. V4 baby!
Excellent work as always. Looking forward to the next episode as always
Thank you, Glad you enjoyed it :)
Judging by the witness marks on the carburettor jets you know you're not the first in there..
Great work as usual!
I have to say, nothing supprises me with you as you appear to be the god of restoration, but that's not to say you fail to impress. Im always amazed at what you can do, particularly in house. You're a one stop shop, and I'd love to entrust you with my ZX7R one day.
When the engine came to life, it took me back 30 years in a second. Exactly the same bike I had. Fantastic memories. Brilliant video.
wow she fired up
really enjoyed..
hope the next episode will come soon ❤
Heartbreaking to know we'll never hear an engine like this again 😢
I look forward to this before bed later on. Watching all again soon with my 15 year old daughter who wants to ride and work on motorcycles. Great work 👏🏼
Nice one , really happy to see another generation taking an interest in riding and fixing these classic icons :)
So addictive. It's the small details like re-plating the nuts and bolts which give me a shiver of pleasure.
Thank you, glad you liked it :)
On most carbed bikes on this vintage, those rubber diaphragms are NLA and thus priceless. When I have mine out, I clean them and coat them with a thin layer of silicone grease (Dow Corning high vacuum grease). Do this, and they'll last forever.
Sound of my youth in Southland NZ at 30:10 minute mark.
I’d buy it back tomorrow if I could.
Just love seeing what would eventually be scarp turned back into a perfect motorbike.
This bike would look stunning in my hallway. Great bike, and now better than it was when new.
Thank you so much, I'm tempted to have it in my living room ;)
What a pleasant surprise. I sit down with my Friday morning coffee, refresh my YT and this is at the top of my daily watch. Looks amazing.
Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it :)
17:41 - If only eh ? Loving this vid. btw
This re-build has been an absolute joy to watch.
Nice job on the restoration, looking forward to seeing the finished product

Before even seeing it... I already give the video a thumb up... always nice to see your videos! Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much :)
It's good when you have time, money and your hands grow from right place. It's interesting to watch such people. Thanks for video. Good luck to you.
Great to hear her fire up. Have so many fond memories of mine back in the day hearing that v4 sing 🔥
Loved the sound and handling of a vfr400, only got rid because at 6’3” and 18st I looked like a pig on a fleas back riding it 😂
Top quality ,great filming, experience poetry in motion , never underestimate a man with tools especially if he is Scottish , thanks for sharing
G’day mate that is a top job that you are doing on that 400 it’s a credit to you and really shows your skills. Thank you for filming it, I had a Honda V4 1000 FF which I fully flailed it great bike out of many I owned. Kind regards John
I like it when a person is precise. It was good to watch the video, nice work

I’ve got an ‘02 GSXR600 that I was gonna clean up but after watching your videos I’m gonna have a go at a resto instead
As usual you have done an outstanding job of sorting that legend of a motorcycle and like you said for a first start she sounded beautiful, I have great expectations for part 8 and cant wait.
Thank you , I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)

Not a bad idea that for a little "filler "video ;)
Love this channel, always professional and well filmed!!
Good to see it running and yes, sounds very sweet. I did like the Hospital style drip fuel tank :-)
Thank you, glad you liked it :)
love it! top work as always.
Thank you! Cheers!
Can,t wait for the last one. This has been the best restoration I,ve seen, whether car or bike. Incredible talent. I take my hat off to you sir.
Cracking job on those carbs, superb series, looking forward to the finished bike, 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I forgot how good the NC30 sounds. I wish I could buy this bike I loved my old NC30.
Wonderful. Great to see this little beauty running again.
Cheers from the states. These videos are incredible to watch.
Thank you so much :)
This is such a good restoration done to an incredible standard: thanks for sharing it with us.
Great video as usual, Mark 2 oven is very posh, seasons greeting and happy hogmanay.
haha yeah very posh but maybe a tad small I think I'll struggle to get a wheel into it, time to design a MK3 haha. All the best to you as well my friend :)
A thing of beauty watching you work
Thank you so much :)

This is so cool, I did exactly the same on the same bike 30 years ago, including fabricating a new aluminum frame.
I've enjoyed this series as well as others. Loved the Honda CR. Can't wait till next year for more!
Hi. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to make these videos as you do! They are brilliant. I loved this series on the 400 and also your CR250 series. I think this is the best rebuild yet. Thorough and complete. I would like to do this to my bike.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :)
Such a great project. Looks fantastic. I wish I was your friend/neighbor.
Thank you, glad you liked it :)
Tsubaki whale chain cutter, hats off lad you never fail to impress, amazing work as usual, engine sounds amazing. cant wait for your next episode, love your editing

Great to hear the old gal fire into life again.Top build as always chap. Onwards and upwards. Have a great Xmas and New yr.
Thank you so much , you too! :)
Please do an NC24 sometime. Love your attention to detail in your work. Awesome.
Yeah OK. I,m Gary kenmore.

Youre doing great with your style of video. Just want to give positive reinforcement that the way you record is the reason i have interest
Absolutely stunning as always......I always look forward to these videos
