This is not a competition. Two beautiful women with incredible voices who are great friends and have total respect for each other. They are singing in memory of their friend. And they did an incredible job together.
This is one of the most moving renditions of the song I have ever heard. Yolanda and Cece should go on a concert tour together they have the power to stir up your emotions. Beautiful rendition Ladies.
I remember watching this on TV. My mouth was was open all the way and forgot to breathe at some point. This is the best female duo I have ever heard. Such power and it's live with no lip synch!!! This should have been released as a new version. Cece's voice is so perfect!!
Everytime I look at this video I get goosebumps, they sung the heck out of this song especially around the 3:20 mark. Yolanda, pulled it from her guts and put her all into it. So did CeCe. Bravo is all I can say. They deserved a standing ovation
I like how CeCe felt like she needed to introduce herself but the audience wasn't having it, they were like 'yasss of course we know who you are guuuurl!!!'
I'm watching this now Whitney Houston will be happy for this tribute the high notes of the two gospel singers it broke my heart it so hard to watch 💔😭😭
Jonathan Miller I think the CeCe asked Yolanda to carry the load because she was afraid that she would not make through the song. And at 3:05 she almost broke down into tears.
@@ronwoodruff3817 I don't think it was necessarily asking her to carry the load i think it was singing enough of the song to pay homage to her sista/friend but not singing so much where you feel overwhelmed with the sense of loss. I feel Cece let out her emotions and the tears rolled when she turned to look at the screen with Whitney's picture as if she if she had wings. Its very touching. Its not easy to finish a diet like this when the person you sang it with is deceased. This has to still be painful song for Cece to perform.
Yolanda adams can sing. Cece winans can sing. Out-singing Cece during this performance, not at all. Yolanda adams utilizes/and excels with her head voice. Cece is a chest voice singer and very seldom if at all now a days uses her head voice. Listen to Cece's rich voice quality. It would have been even more distinctive, and we would be having a different conversation if they sung this song together in the 90's.
CeCe no longer alternate/sings using both her head and chest voice as in the 90's. But even then her chest voice is strong enough to be heard in equity with Yolanda's head voice during the bring while belting. If you lesson for the first 3 or 4 seconds of them belting, (not including the "give in" part) they start out together but notice that Yolanda goes straight to head (watch her facial expression and mouth-it stops vibrating) and holds her air while CeCe is blowing her air out of her chest. How can I tell? Yolanda sings the entire belting part with her eyes close while CeCe keeps her eyes open. Great singers will tell you that singing in your head voice (especially singing this song) usually requires tightening your face muscles and as a result you tend to close your eyes. And also listen to the two and compare vibrato to vibrato. CeCe expends her air starting out after the "give in" part. To accomplish and maintain the belt, CeCe would have had to use a combination of head (reserving air) and chest starting out. She only used her chest and it takes more energy, more power to belt using only your chest voice especially for a long period of time. While Yolanda carefully braced herself preventing her air from escaping while in her head and after 3 or 4 seconds starts to open her lungs back up to allow for that last minute air flow to carry her through and to last which is a brilliancy to me. I love both CeCe and Yolanda but when it comes to quality of voice, chest vibrato and tone, CeCe does it all the way for me. Yolanda has always been very good with breathing and can use her head voice to belt for longer periods of times. I would say that this is where she takes the lead over CeCe. However, she cannot belt as loud and powerful with her chest voice alone like CeCe. Yolanda have a head voice that CeCe no longer uses as seen here that makes her stand out. In the 90's up to 2009 CeCe was superior to Yolanda. What changed for CeCe after 2009? She stop using her head voice completely. Now, they are matched. Although again, CeCe tone is more pleasing to the ear as my sweet Yolanda now grunts, growls and scream out her songs.
But CeCe hit many of the same high notes Yolanda hit in this song....but CeCe had the power with those belts, and matched with her anointing, she had the audience out their seats. Exhibit A: th-cam.com/video/-yx_jVqiXko/w-d-xo.html
Look how far away Yolanda held the microphone from her mouth and you still hear her over CeCe. All of CeCe’s music sounds the same to me. But that Yolanda Adams is the GOAT. She carries the torch for this generation! I cannot wait until she releases another album!
Obviously you didn’t notice that cece was hurting during this performance Cece was close friends with Whitney it couldn’t of been easy for her to sing this tribute. And evidently you must not of seen when she sung this live with Whitney. Yolanda has a great voice but there’s a reason why Cece is the top female artist in gospel.. even Whitney knew that.
Whitney's part was always more extensive in this song, but I can't say I agree that CeCe was outsung especially because she didn't sing her "verse," which was really odd. Cece's part is my favorite in the song and I can't imagine why they would have skipped it.

Ron Woodruff well said!
This is one of the most moving renditions of the song I have ever heard. Yolanda and Cece should go on a concert tour together they have the power to stir up your emotions. Beautiful rendition Ladies.
CeCe's voice is perfection. Absolute perfection! The Queen. The audience knew to cheer for royalty.
It hurts to watch this now in 2017 , and see the camera go to Bobbi Christina knowing she's not here either. May their souls Rest In Peace.
Cece’s face; she try hard not to cry

I like how CeCe felt like she needed to introduce herself but the audience wasn't having it, they were like 'yasss of course we know who you are guuuurl!!!'
Exactly! The Queen
This is a beautiful song for CC Winans and Yolanda Adams.
RIP Whitney Houston. We will always remember you.
Still brings me to tears 7 years later. This was a beautiful and gorgeously sung tribute.
The best duet ever

A "tristeza da pat é preocupante. ... A Crissi está aí lado da mãe dela, senhora Whitney Houston....💜💜💜
Great
they cut Cece's verse out.

@@ronwoodruff3817 so that's what u get from cece at the 3:05 mark? I assumedc something different but I won't speak on it. They done an amazing job
There’s a video on here that has her verse

Latisha Cline well said. When you watch Whitney and CeCe sing the live version of Bridge Over Troubled Water you see how much they loved each other.

Man Yolanda killed it! She was excellent. CeCe was great too but Yolanda’s power moved me more.
CeCe understood the assignment and did it in just 48 seconds. Exhibit A:

What a nonsense comment

was this really the best time to draw comparisons
Too rushed is this version.....internation mattered much to Whitney.
Pat is a bad actress
😂
Ok Yolanda outsang cece on her own song, but I always wanted them to sing together but never knew it would end up like this-lol
I have to disagree lol! Yolanda just have a higher register, but overall cece is a better singer.
Whitney's part was always more extensive in this song, but I can't say I agree that CeCe was outsung especially because she didn't sing her "verse," which was really odd. Cece's part is my favorite in the song and I can't imagine why they would have skipped it.
Hello. ikr.
Drew Mura I like both singers but I prefer Yolanda.
Yolanda out sang CeCe. She reaches places not many performers can reach. I like CeCe too, though. I just think Yolanda's voice is more versatile.
