I watched the entire episode of the Kennedy Honors today just to see the tribute to Ms Cicely Tyson. I cried. It was the most touching, human, honorable, legendary part of that night. When I saw her reaction to her loved song being sung I was reminded of this: Jesus said, unless you change and become like a child. ... “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you change and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” What a graceful, emblematic, loving presence Miss Tyson was on earth. May her grace and wisdom be eternal.

I was a student at Cal. State L.A. in the 1970s. Cal State LA is a relatively poor school in East Los Angeles. (it is by no means UCLA.) But the Black Student League of Cal State LA asked her to come speak & she did. I was there. My memory is her prestige was high as the beautiful movie Sounder had already come out. I have always loved her since she did that. It showed me that she genuinely cared about people. From this video I learn she genuinely cared about Christ.
