  • Valentine’s Day is coming up and a popular plant during this time is the Hoya Kerri aka the sweetheart plant.
Hoya Kerri is known for it’s succulent like heart shaped leaf which makes it a popular Valentine’s Day gift for your sweetheart.
Unfortunately most sweetheart plants on sale are single leaf cuttings without a node, so while they might root they won’t grow a new leaf.
Here I am propagating my Hoya Kerri WITH nodes by upcycling a plastic water bottle into a nursery pot, and using LECA and moss to pot up the cutting.
This will take a while to root but when it does, it will also push out new leaves since this one has a node!

Thanks for this idea. My Hoyas would melt in water.

How big does the node have to be for it to survive? I bought one and it does have about an inch of stem at the base of the single leaf. It does have a huge root system too.
