Omg my mom had a small one of these in a pot and I planted it in the front of her house. That thing is now a six foot tall beast with a eight inch thick trunk!
Holy crap!!! That is incredible
How many years has it been?
Soooo cooool
Yes I had a clipping I planted a couple years ago and it is like 2ft tall. I ignore it which seems to work! I can only imagine what it would look like if I watered it more. 😂
Where at
I have multiple huge jade plants. The #1 thing that has made mine grow rapidly and get huge is putting them outside after last frost and keeping them outside in FULL SUN until the first frost every year. Ease them into the sun. They love it and grow like crazy. My one plant, in a 5 gallon pot weighs over 90 pounds with dry soil. Lol, it is a beast
@tylerk.7947 hey wheee do you live? Like how many months of sunlight they get
I do the same and mine flowers every year!
I love in Colorado and do the same! Mine is now a tree!
Wonder if this is true for Germany, too? I mean, for our temperatures here
I love the little tire swing on the jade!
Me too! Lol
I truly appreciate your attention to details and the way you explain things. So therapeutic to watch you work in this plant
Thanks so much....I really appreciate these kind comments
ugh i love gardening comments yall are so helpful man 😭
It's honestly such a great community
Thank you very very very much on the care of jade plants. I was given a jade plant about three years ago, this month,April 2024. All the leaves are flat and I did water, but the leaves are still flat, haven’t watered any more. I ordered Molly succulent mix ordered TWO bags.thank you, by the way I’m 75 years old.
I just took delivery of my 10' tall jade tree and have been looking at several jade tree information sources. This gentleman is by far the most clear spoken and informative of all I've seen so far. Thank you very much sir. I look forward to referring back to your instruction and to growing my lovely little jade. :)
Thanks BOOKKEEPER! I have many more jade videos on my channel if you are interested.
My Jade is 30 odd years old: I'm going to repot this soon and a good trim up!
Thank you for the info 👍
My grandma was an avid gardener and now that she's passed we're left with a million potted Jade plants at various stages of growth. It's been overwhelming trying to decide what to do with them.
Keep a couple of the ones you LOVE and gift the others to friends and family. I think Jade plants are a beautiful gift.
In the UK people leave items to give away in front of their house with a sign saying ‘Free’ to take. Plant people will be grateful for their new freebie babies.
I'm willing to receive plants if still available
Beautiful Jade plants! I love the little tire swing!
Glorious! I didn't understand everything but I can still say this is the most useful video of my last 3 months on YT
I am happy to hear that! If there is anything that you want to know, just reach out and I'll do my best to help
Thank you so much! I have a nice young jade plant and I’ve been wanting to figure out the best way to prune it and grow it into a beautiful bonsai. This was so helpful. You left me with no questions and I now know that I maybe shouldn’t be to hasty with my cuttings this spring.
This video was so helping
Your plants are healthy and happy 😊
Great video! Very helpful. Liked the way you drew how the branching works, and explained that you can manipulate which direction the branches will grow in by how you prune. Thanks!
I love the look of Jades as trees! So pretty! Mine gotten on pretty well and I’m super excited to prune, not super excited to think about the aesthetic choices just because mine has gotten on awhile without a pruning, but we’ll cross that bridge in the spring!
Your jades are doing very well as house plants, they are so easy care. I live in Australia & have seen these grown as a low hedge, very attractive when in full flower.
Gosh you pruned that Jade to look so much better; you have a talent and good eye!
Wow! I’ve searched several times in the past five years for videos on this. I’ve watched 100’s after “winging” it myself I can say this is the best tutorial on how to get the perfect shape of your jade.
I only wish I’d found it years prior :) look forward to seeing your future videos. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Your jades are STUNNING. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge. 👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you so much!
Thank you for this video I have a Jade in my shed here in Wales, very healthy and over 5 years old but in need of some tender loving care. You video has shown me the way. Many thanks
This is the best resource on Jade Trees I've read yet, wow, thank you for all of the valuable insights
Oh wow! Thanks so very much. I hope you check back for more videos on my channel
Ive had my jade for about a year now. My SIL bought me a little pot with 4 trunks growing. We bought two pots and some cactus soil and split it in half lol. Its kinda cool having it connecting us.
I cut them back a lot at first. In the name of a nice looking tree i took each down to two sets of leaves. It certainly did reward me, the trunk is noticeable thicker and the jades already have a really nice start towards the shape i want.
Thank you for your very informative video on Jade plants. I can't wait to get one started that looks like a tree! Your pictures while demonstrating made it easy to understand!! Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you, this is exactly what I needed now that my jades have hit 3 years old!
Thanks for pointing me to your latest jade video (from your previous one). The part about pruning down to the woody stem was especially helpful; I wasn't sure I could. Can't wait to tackle mine today!
No problem, Emily.
jades are extremely easy to grow, very forgiving and reward you very quickly. If you find you have little patience for a bonsai but you like the look get a jade. Heck get a colorful or variegated variant. They are wild!
Thanks for the tips!
That tire swing is adorable 🥰 I got a huuuuge old jade plant from my mother in law and just repotted and pruned it with using your tips and tricks. Can´t wait to watch it grow 🤩
That is so awesome and keep me posted with the progress of new growth. Just curious, do you know how old the plant is?
@@EverythingPlants yes, it´s nearly 40 years old, pretty amazing! The main stem is soo thick. It has a beautiful tree like structure right now but I pruned almost every tip. It took a long time cause I focused on what it can look like by knowing the leaves will come out this or that direction :-D it was fun!
This is my dream. Have one jade growing since 2018, started another this summer. Thank you.
Excellent......you are a man of detail
This video is perfect in every way. Thank you.
Thanks so much! I have another recent video on my jade plant
I always admired your beautiful Jade plants. I finally got a bigger one last year so can't wait until it's big & beautiful too. Have saved all your videos on Jades.
Wonderful!
Dang, I have a jade plant for years and never knew you can do it, youtube just recommended the video, goodness me it looks so incredibly good, thank you very much for the tip! Hugs from Ireland
Wow! Hello from Saskatchewan Canada and thanks for watching!
Thank you so so much. I’ve inherited 2 large and didn’t know anything about them. You just saved two💕
That is so awesome! I have many jade videos on this channel and feel free to ask questions anytime. I also have an Instagram account if you want to ask questions I'll happily answer
You are giving me confidence! Thank you!
You can do it!
This video is awesome! The best explanations and examples I've seen. Very clear and easy to follow. Thank you! And my plants thank you too! ❤

Glad it was helpful! Feel free to ask any questions that you may have!
That was very informative. Thanks Jeff.
Thanks Carol
Perfect, just what I needed to know. I will be looking at mine today. I will also be checking out your other jade videos. ❤
Yes, I have many more Jade videos! Thanks for watching
I just saved a Jade, with some succulents in same pot, from the garbage. Neighbors had a yard sale and left it behind. They both are doing great!! Now I know how and where to trim!! ❤❤ Jeannie in Lakeport California
I'm so happy that you were able to save that plant and I hope you enjoy it!
According to RHS botany for gardeners in chapter about pruning it is advised to cut branches at an angle (cut part facing up)so when/if they choose to keep growing from same branch the previous stub will make it grow upwards.
Thank you so much, i really hope my little babies will grow this much ! 😍😍
In time and with proper care they certainly will!!!
Great video Jeff, love your beautiful jade plants!
Thanks so much!
so beautiful!
Tip 1 was on point
Hey Richard! Thanks for stopping by
I LOVE your jade tree videos!
Thanks Jon!
Love the tire swing
Haha....me too! It was a gift from a viewer
Thank you so much for the wonderful Tips I absolutely love these plants. I'm sure to find this video and watch again when mine needs pruning. Yours looks so beautiful I would be so happy if mine looks like yours! I live in the UK...mine is happy in a south facing sunny window.
Thank you, that was so instructive!
Glad it was helpful!
This video helped me visualise what will be the outcome of pruning. Or atleast what to even expect with pruning. Previously I was doing it not giving much thought on the outcome. These tips will also fit on any type of i think.
That was the goal of the video. I have many more Jade videos if you're interested
Fantastic informative jade plant pruning tutorial. Sending love and warm greetings from Missouri.
So nice of you
Love when you do jade videos. You should try and grow a variegated (tri-color) one so we can watch that develop.
I actually had one but had to get rid of it because I already have too many. The ones I currently have are very special to me and could not part with them...so the variegated one had to go
@@EverythingPlants I definitely understand that problem! I’ve got a variegated gollum coming from Etsy. Very excited for that one.
Fantastic tips here! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks so much, Dave!
I have a nice jade that I've kept for about 13 years. Its gotten nice and thick but i didnt prune the leggy branches like i should have. So this year i had to make quite a few cuttings. Im eager for it to grow out and thicken even more. Great video!
That is so exciting!
Jeff, yay! You have over 80k subscribers now! Well done! I remember subscribing to you waaay back when you were just starting out! 🎉
Really???? Thanks for hanging out for so long. I hope to hit 100K someday
That is gorgeous I’m going to try that even though I m scared thank you
Great information! I’ve had jades for years and did not realize how to take care of them. I’d really love to have a jade tree and now I know how! Thanks!
Thanks Ruth! They are beautiful plants
Thank you. This helps so much!!
Glad it helped!
Ty. Very nice explanation. Will be trying another jade plant soon
Best of luck!
Brilliant , thanks !
This is so helpful, thank you! I was given several cuttings that needs serious pruning and now I feel like I can try it!
You can definitely do it!!! Keep me posted
One was growing tilted over the side of the pot. I have repotted it upright and cut off all of the shoots that were growing in crazy directions. It's pretty bald at the moment but I'm hopeful!@@EverythingPlants
This is so cool, thank you for sharing!!!
Thanks for watching!!!
Very helpful! Thank you!

Glad it was helpful!
I have a poor jade I've been babying...ok...ignoring...for several years, thinking, "One of these days I'm gonna have to learn how to take care of it!" It got so top-heavy and leggy that it has rooted itself into another pot nearby...🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
SUPER glad I stumbled onto your channel!!!

Wow so helpful!!
Just wanted to say thank you and wow!!!! You described branching and pruning in a way that I actually understood!!!!! I’ve been trying to google and watch videos for years and I always end up doing it wrong and my plants look dead afterwards.
Hope this video will help your jades look beautiful
Agree he is the best that I have found so far!

Hi Jeff !!
A great video again !!!
I remember when you repoted those jude plants.
They look amazing !!!
Hey Mariana! The plants did really well after the root prune. I'm really happy with how it turned out
Awesome! Thanks!
Awesome. Thanks Jeff.
Thanks, simply Japanese maples!
Thanks for this video.
You're welcome
I’ve been wanting a jade plant, had one years ago but didn’t do anything like this to it. I’ve learned a lot from your video.
How did your plant look? Do definitely don't need to prune it, but I like that experiment haha
@@EverythingPlants you made me want another jade, they also look like their in the succulent family.
Thank you kind Sir.
Welcome!
Your jade looks really healthy and glossy!
Thanks....they are doing really good right now
I think I'll get one of these... Thanks for the video!
Yes!!! These are wonderful plants. Thanks for watching Holly
Awesome Jade plants. I am in a wheelchair I do not have the use of my hands, so I cannot grow my own plants, but I enjoy watching plant care videos.. New subscriber.
Best explanation I've seen
Glad it was helpful!
Great video
Thanks! Im off to trim my jades!
Good luck Tonya
Love them I have two or three of them
They are such gorgeous plants. How old are yours?
thanks for sharing
Great video! You’re so easy to listen to. Thanks for that 😊
I have been very frustrated with my jade, which has a very nice tree-like structure with a beautiful trunk and branches, but it keeps toppling over! What I learned from your video is that I need to try pruning the downward-growing branches. I’ve never heard that before! Thanks again!
Thanks for watching and if you ever want any advice you can message me 🙏 n Instagram. I'd actually really like to see a picture of your jade if you have IG
@@EverythingPlants sounds good, thanks! I’ll send you a pic of the jade on IG and follow you
Great tips! I have what started as a very large branch cutting from a huge jade tree and for the past several years I have been trying to prune it into a tree-like shape with only limited success. But I am trying to be brave and continue to cut on it. I appreciate your instructions! You certainly have a knack for it!
Hey Kyra. If you have Instagram, I'd love to see a picture of it if you want to send one
@@EverythingPlants Darn, I don't have IG. But i can post some pics on reddit!
@@kyrad6543 ok perfect...I'm on Reddit too
@@EverythingPlants I knew this! I'm subscribed to your subreddit there.
love your videos.....thank you!
That's for watching them....I really appreciate it!
نبات جيد روعة شكرا
Hi, Jeff! Thanks for another great jade video. I went to an insurance office here that had a jade squoze into a corner west window for years. It was at least 4’ tall. I went back recently and they had pruned it back to just stems! I was shocked at how ‘dead’ it looked. Im anxious to see it again this summer.
I used to quite disinterested in jades until I found you. Now, with every Jade video I learn more details to make mine more fun to grow! (And to manage my expectations, too) 🎉
It's actually pretty crazy many places have Jade plants like you mentioned. I just saw a post from my local university with a large flowering jade. I've never actually seen it in person but I may have to stroll down to the university one of these days lol
Update?!?
Very informative. Thank you for the information. My jade got top-heavy and now is flopped over. Now I know what to do and expect.
Glad it was helpful!
Can you talk about soil and pot size? Do they like moving to bigger pots? Or like being in a tighter pot?
Hello Amy, I like to keep mine in a pot that is just slightly larger than the plant itself. If you plant it in too large of a pot then you run the risk of the soil not drying out fast enough. Jade, plans typically have a fairly shallow root system and take quite a long time to become root bound. I like to keep mine in the same size pot and I often do root pruning to achieve that. Now if the plans gets too large and has the possibility of tipping over and etc then I will put it into something larger. Now if you have the space and you need to upsize a pot then go ahead and do so. Does this help at all?
I plan around the house - don’t need water .
@EverythingPlants yes, it does help, Ill keep in mind the more shallow root system. I didn't realize or think about that when i was deciding about upsizing. I've had really good luck pruning and starting new plants. So tipping isn't an issue. I'm not letting it get leggy.
@@EverythingPlantsI recently removed a variegated jade that was in the same pot for a couple of years and the root system wasn’t shallow. It had completely taken up the whole pot! Same with Gollum .. I ended up having to smash the terracotta pot to get Gollum out!
Just a pot big enough so they don't tip. They're v top heavy.
I can't wait to try that with my little jade!
And use it on your channel too!
That's the plan!
