    My Mother was gifted a single leaf, after her Heart Surgery in 2015. It sprouted, and it's now thickly covered with leaves, it flowers, and is now over 10ft tall, with 3 spikes. My Mother has long since departed, but it's so special to me. I'd be devastated if it died now. I only use tap water that has been standing out for at least 4 days, watering every 4 days, just a little bit. It lives in my Bathroom, so it gets steamed by the shower every day. You said it's slow growing... but with mine, you can literally see the growth every day in Summer. Lol. I think it's going to turn into "Audrey" from Little Shop Of Horrors, one day! Lol

    People told me the leaf would forever be a leaf but the little heart hoya my bf gave me 4 years ago now has 4 leaves. We're getting married tomorrow ;w;

    Thank you for making this video!!! I actually did get this gift from my husband for Valentine’s Day. Two heart shaped leaves coming out of a small pot. I decided while watching your video to pull it out of its nursery pot to see what action was happening and I was delighted to see that both of my leaves are on one stem and there are a ton of roots all around! Yay! Looks like I may actually have a viable plant! 🪴 I could also see where I think the stem might come up so maybe in 6 months I’ll see something happen 😂

    I have one that was languishing for about 10 years until last year when I brought it outside for the summer, in dappled shade under a tree. It turned into a monster and I swear every time it rained, it grew a new leaf. I realized then that it actually loves moisture/humidity!

    I’m surprised you called this a slow grower, I have 3 variegated full plants but my leaves are very close together and then all of a sudden one of them just put out this loooong vine from the top with loads of nodes on it, I was so confused and now each node is growing 2 leaves all at the same time, idk what’s happening but all of mine stay in full direct sun always, I got a free non-variegated form that honestly had one leaf when I bought all my variegated ones, but it now has 6 leaves in a year and a half I’m not even kidding mine grow so so fast but my variegated Hindu ropes grow slooooow, most of my Hoyas bloom except the Kerii! I have my silver splash outside and it’s growing super fast so I might put them all outside. Btw when I got the one leaf non-variegated one it had a stem with a node and the leaf was above that node which I’m assuming is why it grew a full plant

    It certainly grows welll in the 40+++C degree range. I live in one of Australias hottest towns and this hoya grows like you wouldn't believe in a high light but shaded area. It's dry and hot like an oven during summer here. I water it weekly in summer and about monthly over winter.

    😊 Your videos that spotlight a singular plant's care are fantastic and just what I've been looking for, so a million thanks. I definitely would like one in my collection. Even though it's very slow growing, it would be a perfect "contrast" plant in amoungst some bushier and lower growing plants. Plus, I would be SO excited when I saw signs of new growth. I would be all atwitter! 🎉❤

    I have one of these that I bought in a 6in pot and it had two leaves on it. I put it out on my covered, south facing balcony and in one summer it grew to the same size as the one you have in your video. I was so surprised at how fast it grew, I think it must’ve just been the perfect condition for it. High humidity and temps were between 80-95 degrees F. And it did get a shit ton of light, though at one point it did actually start to burn and I had to move it lol.
    I’m hoping I can get it to grow like that again this summer. Fingers crossed!

    Hi Nick, I have the variegated version of this one and it took 12 months before I got one new leaf and that was after putting it under grow lights and increasing the humidity. Also, I transferred her from soil to LECA in a self-watering pot and she seems happier now than before.

    • @analarson6757
      @analarson6757 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! With my busy schedule, I keep all of my plants in LECA, including the single-leafed plant I got for valentine's day 3 years ago. I'm surprised to hear that it can be a slow grower, I feel like I have to chop off the top every month so that it doesn't burn under my grow lights! It's a super fast grower and during the Spring it'll produce new leaves like every other week.

  • @kristiemowry3267
    @kristiemowry3267 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    my kerri is very green and producing leaves this spring non stop. I do have pretty high humidity for the winter, around 40 to 60% so maybe that explains the growth and color? It was under a grow light, but I just moved it to a west window sill for the summer. I guess I will put it outside if it stops growing. I learned about the non growing leaves before I bought it, probably from you, so thank you very much.

    Interestingly I bought a single leaf heart last year, then I saw a video on TH-cam on how these single leaves usually turn into nothing. So I wasn't expecting anything. Well she made three new leaves, and even though that original leaf rotted and died, I've got a little Kerrii plant with three leaves on it now. I hope it'll grow a bit more now that growing season has started again.

    Hey there I'd be so grateful for some advice please. I bought a cutting of a Hoya Kerrii Variegata (in a tiny nursery pot with 6 leaves, but I've just lost its oldest leaf🥺 hoping that's not a bad sign) nearly 2 months ago now. So happy as it was one off my wishlist. It's sitting in my SE facing windowsill I think (it gets sun from 11am-ish) but my kitchen is cold now (I live in the London, UK). I only recently realised that the cutting is growing out of what looks like a hard plug of bark (a few white roots have started to appear, peeping through the bottom of this bark- like structure). I really thought it was just hard soil that desperately needed aeration. My question is, should I leave it as is until spring and then repot, or do it now because I need to get rid of whatever it is growing out of? When it is time to repot what's its preferred substrate? Thanks in advance
