This is all non sense to discuss how to recover pakistani economy by debt restructuring, once they do that their army go free hand and start making defence spending by singing the old tune of enemy neighbour and its radicalised population will again fall for it…. Forget abt any developmental expenditure, education or health😂😂. They are destined to be doomed.
I take extreme guts to invite an Indian guest to talk about the Pakistan economy. Mr. Kathuria is a very respected in India. If he says Pakistan situation is dire then Pakistan should worry. Solution:- Work out a permanent peace with your neighbour and cut your defence expenditure. Can Pakistan do that?
Pakistan eventually has to go that alley and cut down defence expenditures.yes, Pakistan people are believing to lower down their unnecessary expenses.
Politically and economically Army has a central role in Pakistan due to historical baggage in the past. India has turned the page and frankly has no interest in getting involved in Pakistan. We have our own baggage to deal with. It is right time to open up with growing India which will in turn push growth of Pakistan economy.
Your solution is stupid, you cant think without being so biased and india centric. Just come out and say we want weak neighbours rather than coming up with this deceptive, disingenuous, inaccurate diatribe of a solution but then again we can forgive you for being a hindutva bania but let me educate you. Defence spending and making peace with our neighbour is not our problem. Our problem is massive corruption, lack of leadership, incompetence and lack of financial expansion. We fix this we fix our economy. Imran khan focused on this and just when he was successful he was taken out. Our defence spending is the lowest it's been and we have peace with our neighbours, the only exception being india. When india is spending billions on its military and threatening to take Azad Kashmir, gilgit/baltistan or other nefarious dreams it may have🥱 it is futile to have peace with a neighbour thats constantly making threats or have a military that's not capable in taking on any misadventures. First tell modi to stop making threats because this time the tea will be very bitter, that'll make india safer not reducing the military prowess of your neighbours.
I think what Pakistan desperately needs to put a lid on its elite capture is land reforms. Our current situation as a growing economic power has its roots in the remarkable actions of a grossly underrated prime minister. Our first one , Jawaharlal Nehru. He pushed through land reforms , pushed hard for educational excellence creating the first four IIT’s and brought centralised planning to the economy establishing 5 year plans which focussed on manufacturing. That built the foundation for where we are today.
That did give some foundation yes but also very low growth, which was negated mostly by population growth and also under Nehru India suffered repeated macroeconomic problems, in 50s, early 60s, and ended up creating 1991.
Our economists are powered through military incorporated and they are still on a buying spree of new toys for the military on loans for decades. If someone and brave enough expert come from Pakistan who tell us that what's the actual budget and spending on the military including all their expenses spread across the civilian budget heads, the amount of external debt they have accumulated. These are the figures which are countable in economic terms. Then comes their corporate sector having 100+ corporate businesses and biggest real estate holders in Pakistan. Its an open secret that large scale smuggling is carried out under their supervision. Then to top it off all the key Govt's positions are held by active service or retired military elites. Thats the core question and cancer of our economy. Because that uncontrollably huge behemoth have little kids in its lap called the feudals, politicians, media, molvi, land grabbing mafias, banks and other business/industrial elite leaches sucking blood of the nation. And public isn't even allowed to cry out of pain. I have just explained the Pakistani economy in a nutshell that TBT Muzammil couldn't do in dozens of his interviews. One often repeated dialog of economist " IT CAN BE MANAGED"
That is economist , optimistic and dreamer.
He is not an "Indian" guest. He self identifies as a "South Asian". Listen carefully to the choice of words used by the guest.
Defence expenditures are NOT the issue here, but ofcourse an indian you would think that.

That brought us to 1990 atleast go and read what happened
That did give some foundation yes but also very low growth, which was negated mostly by population growth and also under Nehru India suffered repeated macroeconomic problems, in 50s, early 60s, and ended up creating 1991.
That deystroyed growth still foeva feudal society that was a good idea.
Growing economic power. Sorry but Pakistan will never be a growing economic power.
The car is totalled..Cannot be fixed..only scrap value.
