I'm an Indian and have worked in multiple MNCs over the years in Gurgaon, Bangalore and Mumbai. Sometimes I think what would I've been doing had there been no such companies. Really thankful to people who had vision to bring these companies to India, otherwise ours could have been a fate similar to Pakistan.

I will tell you a small story.
I work for a Fortune 500 company and we were thinking of expanding our team to emerging markets to reduce our costs. We picked 3 possible contenders:
    1. India
    2. Philippines
    3. Pakistan - because of team lead was a Pakistani and we thought it would be easy to do things given that he was from there
We did choose Pakistan because of our team lead and time zone wasnt too far behind London and we did try. The first hurdle was lack of ecosystem. There were no existing/thriving ecosystem for IT or SW development like India or Philippines. We wanted to be part of the silicon valley of the region so, we weren't alone in this country. There were none in Pakistan. India had several - Bengaluru, Noida, Hyderabad etc. Philippines had a few - Manila Metro, Davoa etc.
Then, there were no frequent direct flights from London to Pakistan. There are only three direct flights to Islamabad from London per week. Compared that to Bengaluru which isn't even the capital of India which has direct flights every single day and price of the ticket is also so much cheaper. And, Delhi has tens of direct flights from London.
Then, bureaucracy. We just didn't know how to setup a business in Pakistan. We didn't know a single company that had setup businesses in Pakistan so, we can ask them how it can be done. This is even after our team lead was a Pakistani who knew Urdu. I can't imagine what it will be like for a foreigner.
Then, remittance to pay our employees. Apparently, a lot of Pakistani people send money via black market since it gives them better rates. The rate difference that we heard from black markets were so much higher than what the proper/legal way gave us. Ofc, we didn't want to use the shady way to transfer funds to Pakistan to run our business.
Finally, lack of diverse talent pool. In India, you would find industry working closely with educational institutions (although not to the level of China or other western countries). Pakistan had none. There were two different things. We found it will be so hard to build products there if this relationship didn't exist.
So, eventually, we chose India because it had solutions for all the things I described. Just gives an idea for fellow Pakistani what needs to be fixed.

The fact that Pakistan was chosen initially doesn't speak highly of your organisation - it seems to be driven by the choices or prejudices of individuals rather than actual facts which can lead to business success.

@@SumitPalTube Sumit, that is not a correct interpretation. He did mention that the lead was a Pakistani citizen, which was a sensible reason to expand the business to Pakistan. He also showed the due diligence that they did in Pakistan. It is quite likely that their team leader would have a problem to stay long and operate in India, something that he himself probably didn't want to do.

I have purchased land on the outskirts of Bangalore and went to a village Panchayat office to get the purchase registered. EVERY payment was online and transparent. Photo ID's were taken on the spot, transfer of ownership done immediately, proof printed out and given, and also sent to me electronically. I had budgeted 2 days for the exercise. Was in and out in 30 minutes. Spent the rest of the time sightseeing in Bangalore (Only regret - did not go to Mysore to sight see - struck me too late on the 2nd day that I could/ should have). It is all about politics. If you do not elect a correct India development focused government then yes, India will be another Pakistan. Look at our state Telangana. We never voted BJP. But all the national Highways and major railway projects happening in our state are being constructed in the past 6~7 years. The existing highways were constructed during Vajpeyye era. After a gap of 10 years 2004-14 now again all the infra projects are gooing on fast pace. Remember that Telangana (combined Andhra) was the main reason for Congress forming overnment in 2004 and 2009 at the center because Andhra alone gave 35+ MP seats to Congress party. Yet they have done nothing in our state. Now, we have given just 4 MP seats to BJP in 2019 elections and 1 mp SEAT in 2004 elections. Still the number of projects that center is allocating to our state is massive. So, it is clearly evident that irrespective of politics BJP is supporting Telangana's progress keeping in Mind India's progress. @@walterwhite9520

    Junaid and Habib bhaion,
In 1960s, in my village there was just one motor bike, no cars at all and rest few cycles. There were three renting cycle shops. Cement was in black market, rice was rationed. This is the story of 95% Indian villages till 1970.
Then came green revolution (rice and wheat) and India became self sufficient in grains. Then came white revolution (milk). I still remember, the waiting time for purchasing a Bajaj scooter was 12 years, not months. Such were the type of controls the government had on business.
In 1991, Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh duo changed the face of the country, from begger to giver. In 15 years the open market policy changed the fortunes of the country.
Today, in 2020s, there are more than 1500 motor bikes, nearly 120 cars, half of the houses with air conditioners. Reasons are, there are lots of opportunities and at least one kid is sending dollars from a foreign land.
It takes a gritty government policies to change the country’s status and people with patience. Pakistan has youth fed with completely falsified history and truth. Allah Islam is dead and mullahs Islam is ruling. This is called a point of no return. Put all mullaahs in prison and invite open market.
Pakistan will be a great country soon.

Kashmir is part of the Harappan civilization, with the people's land stretching from the Indus River in modern day Pakistan to the Arabian Sea. Kashmir is not part of the Ganges civilization, Kashmir has never been part of present India, Kashmir lies in the Himalayan region of the Punjab and it is a natural part of Pakistan, all routes to Kashmir are from Skardu, Rawalpindi, Muzaffarabad in Pakistan. India has similar problems. Toxic air in Delhi reduces lifespan by 5-10 years. Indians should compare ourselves with S Korea, China etc in order to improve. Even Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia are good benchmarks. They are all VERY CLEAN and doing better than India.
There is no point in watching Paki Yourubers just to feel good about ourselves.
We should learn frim Vietnam about school education. In a recent study, Vietnamese children did better than US/UK ❤❤❤.

Not really, In It over 5000 years of history, the current region of Pakistan was part of the British and Muighal-created India for less than 600 years. The province of KPK less than 200 years. There was no India before the British. Secondly, Ghouri, and Ghaznavi didn't kill any in Northwestern regions ( current Pakistan). To create hate and friction between Hindus and Muslims, this lie was concocted by Britsh and later Arya smaj, Maha Saba, Viveknnada, Gwaliar, RSS schools of thought , in late 1800's. Ghaznavi attacked ganga Jamna with the full support of Northwest just like Maurya, Kushan, Porus, Dahir have always attacked Ganga Jamna. Mauryans alone killed 5 million Ganga Jamnis. They didn't know what Bharat Hindusthan ( made by ghouri) Hindu is. These empires from Northwest Indus valley and Gandhara always had trade and cultural ties with Central Asia ( Afganistan, Iran, Uzbikistan) and attacks towards ganga jamuna. Ask South Indians . They hate Indus valley and its kings. They were even protesting against the term " Hindu" ( ppl of Indus Sindh) until Indra Gandhi bombed Tamil Tigers twice. Im not going to even talk about Chinese burmse Tibet states of Northeast India Captured by the British and forcefully included in British created India. It's been 70 years the whole northeast is a no go zone. Indian army is deployed there to kill freedom fighters on daily basis.

How many times will you all break down Pak's economic crises? Just accept the fact that there is no option but to face reality. And the reality is "Implosion."

The best way to get rid of corruption is to use high end technology so human intervention is minimised. But the problem is when you have most of uneducated population technology can’t do anything. 10 yrs invest in high quality education a must do to start with.

If any mnc is coming they ask for good infrastructure, super highways for transport, 24 hour non stop electricity, 24 hour water supply, good civilised people . international air port and direct acess to each country is all available in pakistan, and more on that digital infrastructure.

In Mumbai we have a slang - 'randi rona'. Not sure if this a known slang term in Pakistan. But every single TH-cam video from every single Pakistani channel, irrespective of format, interviewer, guests, whether they are intelectuals or illiterate, can be described with those two words. What a sad state of things when the entire nation just sits and mopes and do nothing about anything.

Hey Junaid Akram, i watched this podcast till the end. And i believe, people now should come up and talk to the government people. We should write legislation by ourselves and submit them to their hand. It is a rude to compare Pakistan with any other neighbouring country but we are in hands of uniform people and same state of mind is transferring down the line whereas people live and grow when there is peace of mind and enough resources. Ammar is a clever guy he does know the problem and their solutions too. Invite him again. And you may also have a chit chat with me on some reforms and survival in recent times. Take care.
