IMF is not killing Pakistans economy, our economy was murdered by our Generals who never allowed consistency in civilian Govt and were always meddling with Govt affairs and secondly our politicians who are jokers and have no clue how to run and manage a country, given the chance I wont even hire Shahbaz Sharif or Maryam or Bilawal for the post of peon in my office and we have given them the biggest offices , and lastly borrowing unnecessarily without transparency be that CPEC or any other project, so lets not blame our incompetency on IMF.
Sorry to say but blaming others has been the basic foundation of Pak. Actually, IMF never came to Pak requesting to take loans. Pak has been asking for the loan money from everybody without realizing that it has to be returned. Now Pak is not able to afford even the payment of interest on loans.

Nishat Group is the biggest beneficiary of the current corrupt regime in Pakistan. I have a strong apprehension that Nishat Group is face and front of Sharif's business interest in Pakistan.
One major point I get from this talk is that we need some kind of dashboards or source of data that can be used to resolve the misinformation that is circulating in the public.

This is the type of discussion that we need; it's not just one sectior or one entity who is messing up the country; it's we as a society as a whole that are mesed up and require drastic changes such as education, law and order, the justice system, government entities, people in power, replacing old with new, the defense sector, etc. All of them require a complete overhaul to shift the economy graph towards upwards to move forward in the right direction. We can't bring change with just the right fiscal policies, in short. Thank you for bringing the guest; he seems to be a great person and has shared great insight.

Maybe I am missing something but I don't understand why he keeps saying higher interest should devalue currency. I thought higher interest rates attract foreign investment due to better return which increases the demand for currency and appreciates it?
yes, but when inflation is high, or economic stability is not seen, then currency devalues, even if the interest rate is high. This is because the prices of goods keep increasing. So even if the interest rate is high, the prices of goods have become so expensive that it does not make a difference. E.g., if I offer to give you an interest rate of 18 on your 100 Rs, but the prices of goods have gone up from 100 to 120, then what difference would it make. Great interview. But he dodged a few questions very smoothly particularly on elite capture
Rich people are not the problem for poor people , it is the attitude of the rich which is cuasing hatred against the rich , every law and every one supports rich , no matter who is right or wrong
Great point, when IMF is not allowing us to subsidize electricity - which is essentially going to help the economy, there making us take loans for developments in places that don’t have a ripple down effect and increase our competitiveness in industries we excel in agriculture and textile - therefore we can’t bring in enough foreign reserves - to make things cheaper when importing - and when this is clearly the policy - most of our exports are clearly going to service debts - our government has to print more to pay these exporters which increases circular inflation
Very informative and optimistic conversation
What a great insightful podcast . I wish people like him run the country instead of circus jokers atm
Looking like a decent CEO
and good human being ❤
Muazzamil, please try to cut short the questions you ask from guests, try not to make it over explained; listeners want more in answer than the question itself.
oh bhai ask him why the investors/ipp owners are paid on installed capacity and not what is actually produced ??? who made these contracts ?
Absolutely right.
High productivity must be achieved with the help of government/ industrial development Bank or through NDFC which was already closed .
Depreciation amount should not be included in the profits. Industrial units should prolong to the next generations.
Excellent 🎉❤ job
Justice like mola Ali a.s is the key keep it up 😊
Muzamil Sir, You ask very long winded questions. Please ask less lengthy questions. It appears as though you are speaking longer than your guest :-)
