They definitely did good with Gary Holt. Maybe they did learn something. Just think Dave got a really raw deal.
I think Dave was the unheralded backbone of the band. I never felt the same about Slayer after he left. The intro to Criminally Insane was the beat that got me interested in trying to play drums.
More Thrash pioneers than Death metal I'd say and yes they did cover Iron Maiden also Judas Priest and other English new wave heavy metal bands of the time, 'Show No Mercy' you can easily hear the British influence :))
Bostaph is a hell of a drummer. And I would venture to say he’s probably technically better. But no one hits like Lombardo! He’s just a fucking beast. I prefer Lombardo personally. Dave is the best drummer in the world. he created such a unique beat, that fits to such a fast pacedmusic, it's like he hits the drums twice as much as the avg drummer, the beats leading up to guitar in Seasons in the Abyss is a good example, He can hear the opposite side of a regular drum beat and end perfectly where the riff starts. He is a drum god.
So if Dave didnt happen to go by Kerrys house Slayer never wouldve happened. This man needs WAY more credit. Also hes the best damn drummer iv ever heard

Bostaph is a killer drummer. But Lombardo was and is THE Slayer drummer for me. He’s one of the few drummers that when you hear him play, you know it’s Dave Lombardo. No mater what band he’s in. That’s a rarity few drummers possess. I expect Kerry to be a dick. He always has been. But Tom, that really surprised me that he didn’t fight for Dave. Slayer is a “Brand” and a money making machine now. So I understand the business side of it. But it would be nice if Slayer acknowledged their fans when it comes to members.
Just last week i watch him play with suicidal tendencies
Damn this cubano is a badass
I saw Dave play with Suicidal at musink 10 days ago and he was amazing live..
The best possible scenario that could possibly happen after he left Slayer.
@@JonnySublime maybe he was still in testament after the gathering
@@laurentdupont-gagnon7889 the thing about life is it's not so much where you were, it's where you are
The reason slayer is amazing is because they went straight from Iron Maiden to nearly inventing death metal in three albums
Show no mercy is much more aggressive than iron maiden imo
@@stinkodoronion oh OK then, didn't understand it that way
@@hectorvegasduque2234 he probably should have said first three eps.
More Thrash pioneers than Death metal I'd say and yes they did cover Iron Maiden also Judas Priest and other English new wave heavy metal bands of the time, 'Show No Mercy' you can easily hear the British influence :))
@@nathansciarone5627 Yes- speed metal/thrash- not "death"
Bostaph is a hell of a drummer. And I would venture to say he’s probably technically better. But no one hits like Lombardo! He’s just a fucking beast. I prefer Lombardo personally. It just feels more furious and passionate. The same reasons I prefer Dimebag over Marty Friedman. They just seem like the really mean it when they play. And too me, that’s metal as fuck 🤘🏻
I think Dave is better al the way aroundl
While I do agree with you I still think Paul bostaph can be intense and furious as well. That concert at monsters of rock in 92 pretty much proves it
Saw Dave jam with Suicidal Tendencies!! My ears were blown!! Lol!! Such a badass drummer!!
He should of been on the final tour with slayer
I fuckin Love Slayer Tom Araya is a Boss of True Metal. And great Respects due to Dave Lombardo you are A badass Percussionist and God bless your endeavors as a Musician
I met Dave around 95'. He was playing in grip inc. I also met Pete Sandoval from morbid angel that nite....good times
My two favorites
Dave is the best drummer in the world. he created such a unique beat, that fits to such a fast pacedmusic, it's like he hits the drums twice as much as the avg drummer, the beats leading up to guitar in Seasons in the Abyss is a good example, He can hear the opposite side of a regular drum beat and end perfectly where the riff starts. He is a drum god.
such a down-to-earth guy. Great drummer
I listened to Dave play in ALL his projects. Grip Inc., Vivaldi tribute, and even bought his instructional booklet and cd.
Are we ganna get Bruce Dickonson on Wikipedia.
+G-gamer We didn't have enough time, unfortunately
Loudwire :(
+G-gamer Dickonson, my sides! lmao
Eddiethenotsogreat Dickinson. jeez
G-gamer Don't change it, that made my morning!
True legend and his humble attitude makes him more valuable.
One of metal's greatest icons.
Such an awesome musician....and you can tell he's an awesome human
So if Dave didnt happen to go by Kerrys house Slayer never wouldve happened. This man needs WAY more credit. Also hes the best damn drummer iv ever heard
Was just listening to "Power of inner strength" one of the greatest of all time
Dave i been with you since "Show no mercy" tour
L'AMOUR Brooklyn NY
Dave's talent and impact is huge. One of my favorite bands is Grip Incorporated. He's rare that he has tremendous speed but also groove.
One of the most powerful and unique drummers in the world.
I remember reading an article where even Danny of Tool was giving him praise.
Such a legend.
Dave always seems such a humble likeable dude. Incredible drummer and a lovely guy. And of course Slayer without Lombardo isn't Slayer . Much love to you Dave 🙂
Had our picture taken together when he was touring with Tendencies. I forgot that I was wearing slayer shirt for Divine Intervention, their first album without him.
He doesn't look happy, I'm an asshole.
😂😂😂😂
At least you met Dave right?
Awesome. Well wishes to Dave. Thank you, Loudwire.
I'm not a big fan of drummers but this man is a genius. He is talented and there is something about his drumming that I find absolutely amazing and unique.
One of the nicest guys around !
RIP Jeff Hanneman!!
I have not looked at the comments I saw the first two below this but I'm sure everybody has said what I'm about to say what a sweet f****** dude what a nice gentle soul that man seems to be good for him good for all his success I'm happy for him people like that deserve it I'm not even that big of a Slayer fan but I could have sat there and listened to them to talk for hours anyways glad I saw this
