1. Some people are surprised about Peach's role in this movie and I just wanna say this: this isn't the first time we've seen this side of her in the overall franchise, it's happened before, it's just rare when it does happen because she's a damsel in distress most of the time that it's become a joke. 'Sides, her femininity is kept intact, so she deserves it.
2. Regarding Chris Pratt as Mario: If the movie's characterization of the plumber is the everyman in a bizarre world, then Chris fits the bill better because he already has that everyman charm. Just something to consider.
I see people that either like the new peach or think she's the new Rey skywalker but I rarely see people bring up the REAL possible problem :
I don't know anyone who hates strong women or something but I and many others DESPISE characters who are JUST strong women. Some of these characters forget to be.. y'know.. human! They usually are flawless and are perfect in every way shape or form (which of course is not how humans are lol). So I do really hope they don't make peach a strong woman, I want her to be more than that! If done right she can be a figure little girls can look up to! She can join the pantheon of legendary princesses in fiction (along with the disney princesses!)

In regards to the first point she is definitely less feminine than what she is like in the games. As being rough and confrontational is a masculine trait. That said it does make sense considering they want her to be a major character in the movie it seems so adapting her like that gives her more to do.
Though I'd argue paper mario and the thousand year door kept peach more in tact with her original portrayal while still making her a pretty active character.
Either way I won't mind as long as they don't make her a mary sue.
And Chris Pratt has played Emmet in the Lego Movie, so he is used to playing unusual characters

I remember when it was announced illumination was working on it everyone thought oh no Mario is gonna be making butt jokes dancing to the latest hit pop song. And the art is gonna look cheap and bad. And to their credit just from the poster reveal originally, they've shown how beautiful this movie looks. In each trailer reveal showing all the little details that show attentive love and care for this property. Pratt is gonna be devise, but I feel if they reveal a bit more out of him in trailers people could get a feel for his character better.

I’m actually kinda excited for the film the more I see things of it! The music is absolutely incredible! Soundtracks do kinda sell most stuff for me 😂 honestly gave me chills the first time I saw the title screen and track! Will be interesting to see how it all goes when it releases!

Hey Wood! Just my two cents, but since this is a zero to hero movie where an ordinary plumber from Brooklyn becomes the savior of the Mushroom kingdom I think it's very intentionally that every scene where Mario just came into this world he sounds like an ordinary dude. But as we are approaching the end of the movie (like the rainbow road scene where they head towards bowsers castle/island) he becomes more and more Mario like and so does his voice. That's why I think Nintendo is not even a little bit fazed that people didn't like Mario sounding like Chris Pratt when he just came into the Mushroom kingdom. Because at the end he will become Super Mario and will sound like Super Mario.

I'm gonna hate it cause Illumination is making it. They can make amazing looking films. But the writing and characters of their films are okay at best, insultingly pandering at worst. Like the Lorax is such a terribly pandering film

@@slowazzd2165 look, Illumination works for the most Hollywood of Hollywood producers. This one being np exception the main cast being made up of only big name celebrities instead of voice actors who would fit the role. I mean some do, but it was name first, fitting the role last.
I mean sure, they may always get different writers. But judging from every Illumination movie, the writers are usually the same uninspired ones who have to conform to producers or they get fired sadly. I mean from what we have so far, can you really say it's that different from any other Illumination movie?

ALSO, Every single voice actor fits their role, even Chris Pratt.

Chris Pratt sounds good if you don't listen to his Mario voice in a vacuum. The only reason it sounds like his normal voice is because his normal voice sounds like what Brooklyn Mario sounds like. He's literally an Italian-American, if he wasn't famous and this was one of his first big roles i'm sure he wouldn't be getting so much hate about this. Also he sounds like Lou Albano and i adore that fact.
Yes Illumination almost always churn out harmless safe trash, but they have the budget and direction to make something really good here, and for the first time ever, i trust that they will.

I still don't like Chris Pratt. He doesn't fit the role and it's not his fault. Peach's voice is okay but a bit generic sounding and we haven't heard Donkey Kong's voice yet. So I'll wait until we hear his voice

Since I'm Trilingual I can choose in which language I'm gonna watch the movie and while I don't think Chris Prat is doing a terrible job, I'm gonna watch it in Brazilian Portuguese instead because the voice actor there is actually doing Mario's voice, and when you watch all the trailers with his voice it just makes the movie so much better.

Allot of people don’t take into consideration that Charles Martinet doesn’t actually do dialogue for Mario. Only expressions. So hearing Mario in his screeching Italian accent for 2 hours straight would be a headache. Pratt’s voice is perfect for this role.

My opinion on Chris Pratt still hasn't changed tbh. I think the movie is going to be great, but I think of all the character voices he is going to be the worst adaptation.
I was pleasantly surprised by Charlie Day as Luigi. It made sense for Peach to have a voice change though, her in game voice isn't well established or iconic.
Where as for Mario it's an iconic voice and accent, he could have atleast done a toned down version of his voice...

I never understood the anger towards Chris Pratt. Mario’s lines in the video games are very generic and simple, there isn’t a full dialogue in the video games. I feel like listening to the real Mario would just get stale extremely quick. At least with someone like Chris Pratt, you get a taste of that here and there but it won’t be over the top.

To be honest, im really excited about the Mario Movie and how much effort every single actor, animator, score designer and more have put into it. I just really hope that content creators push the envelope to stream the Mario movie soundtrack when it releases, as a high performing film (or just about any film, especially by illumination) has an accompanying soundtrack at release, and I hope creators make that push for the soundtrack to do well, because if it does well on that home front, Nintendo will take notice and possibly start to give us their albums of games to stream.

Sadly Chris Pratt was doomed from the beginning with this role. Before he was announced for it, a certain actor who will not be named, made tons of false claims about him. Despite people who actually knew him (unnamed actor has had zero interactions with Pratt) defending him and vouching for how good of a person he is the internet completely turned on him. They ignored all evidence and continue to make him out to be something he isn't.

Mario is from Brooklyn, before the fake Italian high-pitched accent from the games Mario had a Brooklyn accent, so they're bringing that back, that's why they're making Chris Pratt do like a very light Brooklyn accent, which is perfect for a quality movie like this because the squeaky high-pitched stereotypical voice from the games would be intolerable for a long movie, just mainly because of how annoying it would sound if it had dialogue which is why Mario doesn't have real dialogue in the games. But if you look at the old Mario cartoons and the old Mario PC games you'll see that Mario had a Brooklyn accent way before Charles Martinet squeaky voice from the games

People need to understand that mario isn't gonna have his normal happy high pitched voice. This mario is from Brooklyn and that's why I don't especially care for Chris as mario. I don't hate it at all, but it could have been better to get a bit better with a more Brooklyn heavy accent. But I genuinely don't see any flaws with this movie.
