@P T Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; if you really feel that way, you could put speakers in your walls or your ceilings, but then woofers will need enclosures. Nothing is free my friend.🤣
I love Klipsch, and can only speak for myself, but they combine a nice look, a fun (very "American") attitude, a rock and roll/movie friendly sound that is really dynamic (but can still sound incredibly "live" and subtle), and perhaps above all, they're not overly expensive. It's many people's first speakers, reliable overall, maybe not the most high quality audiophile grade products ever, but a step into that world, and if you lean more rock/acoustic you may not even care. I think that first impression is a huge thing though: the ATTITUDE. They scream "I'm fun, I'm rock and roll, I'll shake your house but give you some beautiful moments as well".
Very well said. I can agree on all fronts even though I've only ever owned two pair of Klipsch. They're not my daily drivers, but I will say this. Every time I rotate them back for stand time, I wind up smiling, pointing at them, and saying (out loud usually) "this is why I'm keeping you around!" It isn't my favorite all-rounder, and their presence on the stands may in fact influence my listening choices to sources that I know will make them shine, but there's nothing wrong with that for me. When Klipsch are in their groove and happy with the recording, they just impress like few others can do, especially at the price. They're fun, dynamic, forward and frankly can tear your face apart a little bit (in a good way) when you want that. I encourage anyone that this appeals to, to give them a try. I bought 600m MKI on sale a year ago for $377 new and then rp280f for $800. Although my room isn't quite large enough for the dual 8" floorstanders, if I'm in the need of getting punched in the face there is no other speaker in my stable that can do the job better. They aren't perfect, but I wouldn't want to imagine a world without them. If presentation impresses you, these are the presence masters.
Have you tried any of Sonos flagship speaker sets? Curious how they might compare. I’m trying to get an idea if Klipsch will be right for me - wondering if it’s a similar (only bigger/better) sound to Sonos’ bright and detailed signature. I love classical and Jazz as much as rock, so it’s important that speakers are ideal for those genres. Planning to return my Sonos Arc/gen3 sub/rears and build an Atmos system with RP-600ms .. I also hope to find a sub as tight and controlled as Sonos’ Gen 3 enclosed style sub .. I hate boomy or overpowering bass, but the Gen 3 has been perfect - no vibration/rattle anywhere, just super quick, elegant and controlled bass tones that sound perfectly natural with the mids/highs.
I think Klipsch hit a sweet spot for Rock/Metal music as well as great for movies and tv. I'm and old guy who has suffered some hearing damage over the years. I find the extra brightness to help me hear the highs and voices. I have enjoyed hearing the things most speakers soften too much. I was really struggling to hear voices in movies and tv shows, I bought a pair of kf 28 towers and a Rc-62II center channel speaker and the difference was life changing.
I just replaced my Polk SDA tower speakers with Klipsch RP-8000F II tower speakers. Along with their SPL-150 Subwoofers crossed over at 60 Hz, they have advanced the sound coming out of my AV room with a louder, cleaner playback, and are easier for my NAD amp to drive. With a good 'bang-4-the-buck' value, I recommend Klipsch loudspeakers!
I really love the Klipsch KSP-300 and KSP-400 speakers. They have become some of my favorite speakers for various reasons. Inexpensive used, real compression driver, built in powered subwoofers for great low end running them in full range, and the woofers sound natural. I prefer them over heritage for general listening because they have better off axis response than a lot of those other Klipsh. I have noticed that the tweeter roll off early so I boost 16kHz, however, it is a small trade off for the pleasant response as well as the nearly flat group delay across the 100hz to 20kHz area which is really cool. I think that's why they have a certain realism.
I like having affordable speakers that aren't fussy with amp power, and having a nice response that I can fine-tune to my own personal tastes with an AVR's parametric equalizer (Yamaha TSR-7850).
From what I’ve seen from multiple reviews, the Klipsch RP series is geared more towards home theater. The Heritage lines are geared more towards music. The majority of reviews typically use music to test them vs using movies. I have a full Klipsch RP 11ch setup for my home theater, and I use the RP600M’s for both front L/R and rear surround.
I think Klipsch’s stellar marketing strategies is why they are loved by so many. That and the look. Does anyone else have copper woofers? 🤷♂️ Before I even started my channel, I basically knew a couple of brands besides Klipsch, but was hell bent on owning a Klipsch home theater system. I know not everyone will take the time to create a home audio TH-cam channel just to become more familiar with more brands (😄), but the fact that Klipsch was already on my radar as a home theater newbie tells you a lot about their marketing prowess. 🤘
I don't think I ever really got too wowed with most marketing. Perhaps because I tended to look on forums for info and didn't have magazines or "reviews" before
Yeah, Klipsch certainly has elements of humor in its marketing, evidenced by its mantra of "no bullsh*t", and also, sentences like "Klipsch wasn't founded in Germany or Austria or wherever", add to the humor. Paul W. Klipsch is also constantly referenced as being a "madman", a "rebel" and stuff like that which is always awesome. :) I do not have any Klipsch speakers, but I do have a pair of wired earphones from them and they have very clean sound. I take good care of them.
Enjoyed your insights at the end as to why people like Klipsch. It felt like maybe you were also talking about why everyone loves you. Always innovating while staying true to your roots ❤❤❤
it’s simple, because they are affordable. I have the 2018 RP line up (2 towers, 2 bookshelf and center) that I spent around $2000 for. I originally wanted the svs ultra line up but those are never on sale and for both towers, 2 bookshelf and center speakers was around $4200
Nice review. Have a pair of KLF-20s from 2001 that looking to upgrade crossover and tweeter as many say they are hard to beat after upgrades for rock or home theater that Klipsch are perfect for.
Good review...here is my personal heartburn. I had the Elac DBR. They had GREAT midrange and nice bass. My pet peeve was the soft treble that lacked impact and resolve. I bypassed the tweeter cap with a .01uf mylar cap and there was a vast improvement, but it was still too weak compared to the rest of the spectrum. The 600MII (which I don't own) do appear to be a BIG improvement over my former 600M which were too harsh for near field. They also had a tweeter/mid dropout at the crossover where they lacked the resolve of the ELAC. The 600M were sold and I got the ELAC. I no longer own the DBR due to it's lack of a proper top end.
Klipsch speakers, particularly their Heritage series, have a different approach to music reproduction. Most speakers try their best to reproduce the music as it is heard in in the recording studio production room or in the mastering studio; Klipsch do their best to reproduce the sound heard in a live performance.
Klipsch is a brand you graduate too when silky smooth HiFi starts to bore you. Have both like I do. Bought the Heresy IVs and it was just what the doctor ordered. Look at Steve Gutenberg. He uses Cornwalls, and he’s been in the game forever. Take the audiophile path, that’s a good thing , then I’ll see ya in the Klipsch future:) Use a sub guys
When someone asks why I like Klipsch, these don’t come into my mind. When I think of Klipsch, I think of the Heritage models, still built in Hope, AR. Forte, La Scala, Heresey, etc. That is the sound that Klipsch is known for. A whole different ball game. There are scores of Chinese made speakers that compete with and compare to the ones you have reviewed here. They have a horn but these don’t have the real Klipsch sound. People need to listen to a pair of their Heritage speakers one time and they will understand. Listen to a pair of KHorns and your world will change.
I'm fortunate enough to have acquired a pair of La Scala's, and I get what you're saying. Very distinct, and pleasing if you like that sound profile. Everyone's tastes are different, but the big Klipschs are great at what they do. 😀
@@Broadpaw_Fox No question. I have Forte 1, and they have a sound all of their own. Listening to them is like being a guest in the studio. Someday I intend to own KHorns. The true holy grail.
@@sirdewd2197 - maybe the more mainstream models, but we were talking about the heritage lineup. Models like my La Scala's, or the Kilpschorns, Cornwall's, and Forte's. The Jubilee monstrosities. 😀 Those are all hand built in Arkansas in the US. It's half of why they're so expensive, as well - actually producing items here is more expensive than making them overseas and shipping them. 😀
@@sirdewd2197 Their standard consumer products are made in China. Most speakers are these days. But I am talking about the Klipsch Heritage speakers, hand made in Hope, AR. Although some models are nice, there is really no comparison to the China made ones and the Heritage speakers.
THE KLIPSCH SOUND IS CHANGE, TECHNICALLY BASED. We Love what they've done with the 600M-II's, we love the Brightness of Their Horns, AND Broadened the Coverage on HIGHS. Anything around 40 Hz is just fine, just add a S-Woofer. And sensitivity is always great - Don't Have To Drive The Hell Out Of Them.
Because some tweeters are designed to play a little on the bright side with that manufacturer. Yes there are musical instruments and elements that benefit from those tweeters people want to hear. That is why it is important to choose specific speakers that closely match the types of music you listen to most frequently. There are speakers that are best suited for different genres. Rap- hip hop, vocals, rock, classical symphonies, Operas, etc etc. Most people don’t have 60K plus to spend nor the room space for such speakers that typically can play it all. That is like the new rave BS fad HiRes audio. To play HiRes audio..?? You are going to pay a “KINGS” ransom for equipment that can actually play that.
Those shots 📷 are great. So and a few words you think the price difference is not worth it? Is almost $300 difference. I think for the final consumer they need to have both of them so they can compare wish one sound better. And like you mention, also we need to know how this speakers will response on our rooms. I like the approach you took on this speaker comparison. 👍
I said in my video that it's tough to easily recommend it based on that price difference considering the original can be EQ'ed to have a good response.
I used to love my clip speakers until I spent a whole day watching movies and now my ears are ringing I feel a lot of fatigue I think I’m gonna sell these and put some more money into some better speakers thinking Martin Logan
I wouldn't look at brands as much as I would look at individual speaker models. Try to get an idea of how a speaker might interact with your room based on the size, how reverberant it is, where you will place the speakers, and where you are relative to the speakers. Once you understand which characteristics of a speaker will work best with your room, then decide. I've made a paid course consisting of 5 videos explaining in more detail if you're interested www.avmasterclass.com/optimal-speaker-positioning
Yeah, I somehow got a order in after being sold out. I'm thinking it over. I was saving up for something else like starting with a 3 way center. Monolith or Paradigm.
@@dcollins9818 funny I was looking at the Monitor Audio bronze 100 around $500.00 when the video popped up with that sale and should be perfect as these are going in my garage gym with the Fosi BT20A pro Mostly Metal and classic rock listening. Total price with tax $316.94 + free shipping was too good to pass up considering what my use case will be. #rockon 🤘🏼
I just got a pair yesterday. the one thing I noticed right away is the bass is weak for a speaker with a 6.5-inch woofer. I know it needs a sub. but still weak bass,
As someone who just bought a pair of 20 year old Klipsch RF-5's, I can definitely see the appeal of Klipsch and the distain people have for Klipsch as well. I can't think of another speaker company to do what Klipsch have done in the past 20 years. We're talking about an already established speaker company becoming bigger players decades into the game. Usually it's the other way around. They came up with a modern look around the 2000's with their copper colour, they continued using their signature sound and they flooded the market with looks and sound. Klipsch was never about being the most accurate sounding speakers. They created a sound that a lot of music sounds phenomenal being played through their speakers, with it's own set up drawbacks. So, take looks, quality, sound, brand, price and you have a winner. They created a niche that was more than a gimmick. As someone on a budget, I've heard things through my Klipsch speakers I've never heard through any of my other speakers. Voices absolutely jump out in a good way, while having good low end bass. There are times where things sound a tad bit megaphoney, but that's there only drawback. Anything else I can fix with a little eq and room placement. I was just listening to your bookshelf comparison and the vocals sounded a 100x better coming through the Klipsch. That's what reminded me to write this message. Every other speaker, the voice sounded a little muddied in the mix, but damn, the Klipsch there was such separation!
Subjectively speaking, I heard a lot of bookshelf speakers of these class, and regardless of price, my favorite are the JBL 305s and a close second are B&Ws, I know the JBLs are monitors, but I like their sound signature a lot. I have a pair of Klipsch too, I just don't like their sound signature.
RP600's are just okay at $400/pr, definitely not at $750/pr. I had to dust off my mid 90's Pioneer receiver(super bass button 😂) and tilt the speakers upwards slightly to get the sound I wanted. They're just too position sensitive for music listening as I go about doing things within the house. I'd probably be happier with some Polk ES20's now after doing a little more research and figuring out what I really want out of a speaker.
since you are a fan of bass, if you haven't listened to a pair of polk audio s20 bookshelves, i have a pair, the originals, they go down to 38, 39 hz ?? not bad for a 6.5 driver
Danny Richie looked at these after his employees Hobbs bought a pair. They were improved over the original version but still not as good as they could have been, So again Danny (GR-Research) offers another upgrade kit with improved crossover and much higher parts quality for greater fidelity). Incidentally he says he gets sent more Klipsch speakers than any other brand so there must be a lot of folks buying them off Klipsch’s brand awareness but then not being happy with them and look to improve the response so send to Danny for fixing.

I already know these speakers have a good reputation. However. Amazon has a deal going on right now on the older Klipsch RP-600M Piano Black, for $349 a pair, I basically wanted to know if the RP-600M sounds as good or close to the Klipsch RP-600M II?
Mostly because they look cool. If purchased in usa you r getting a lot for ur money though. Im gonna come out with some burnished bronze speaker cone and give klipsch a run for their money.
Not heard any Klipsch other than my CDT-2800 15 degree angled baffle in-ceiling rears that are way better than the monoprice they replace.. super happy with them aimed at MLP.. Always heard Klipsch were bright and fatiguing which would not work in this open concept echo chamber, so laid back and punchy Q Acoustics 3050i towers and center were a far better choice. So fun to listen to as Steve Guttenberg and other reviewers stated. Now waiting on new SVS sub too arrive!

Hello, I have been watching your videos for a long time, always very good information. I hope you can help me, other channels do not respond but I see that you always do. I have a small dedicated room that is 8.2 ft x 15.4 (126 sq ft) I sit 6.8 feet from the center channel, since I have the sofa 3.2 feet from the back wall and the speakers and TV are 5.1 feet further from the front wall (due to ceiling issues). For my space, would it be better to buy the "Klipsch rp-5000f" headlamps or the "rp-6000f" headlamps? So that the center does not look gigantic I am thinking of an rp-500c and surrounds rp-500m. I know they are a good match with the rp-5000f, but could I put the rp-6000f in my small room, and would they match the 500 series? (I would like more to be able to opt for the rp-6000rp, but if it is not a good idea for space, I would not do it, or because they would not match the 500 series). I just dont like how Klipsch mislead people in thinking they are significantly more efficient when they are not. They have sold so many speakers by misleading the general public about their efficiency. I'd be rich if i had a dollar every time someone said: " Just get a cheap low powered amp with klispch since they're so efficient" IMO they need to be called out until they change the way they advertise efficiency, its borderline predatory.
Why do people like any speakers..?? Speaker reviewers are influencers. People buy speakers without ever listening to them firsthand. Mixing audio components and speakers gives different results. Many different types and designs of speaker crossovers give different results. Every year many speaker manufacturers come out with a new modified version of the previous version.
Not sure where you want to go with this.. Some people buy blind or are not able to listen IRL. Btw, a good sounding speaker in the store can sound disappointing at home, so a returnpolicy comes to mind. Mixed gear can give mixed results, so what"s you advice on that? There's no ultimate truth here. Imo, Joe did a very good unbiased review here, largely and in general pointing out what to expect.
@@34332 There's no ultimate truth because there are variables and unknowns such as the person's room, where they're going to place the speakers, where they're sitting relative to the speakers, their personal preference etc. An anechoic measurement is very helpful since a good speaker in a bad room will likely still sound better than a bad speaker in the same room. Unfortunately not everyone knows how to read those graphs and so I'm here to help make it easier to understand and relate to.

@@Roof_Pizza I love SET amps man, sound so much better (to me) than any "100 watt amp" and klipschs are AMAZING with them. I wouldn't use RP-600Ms with a solid state amp though, they sound harsh and horrible... but they shine with tube amps, another level.
Personally, I think a speaker should sound good regardless of the type of amp used unless specified by the manufacturer. Nowhere does Klipsch say it should be used with tubes to get the best possible sound. I'm not doubting you think it sounds better with a tube amp. I can see that as a possibility.
Marketing is nowadays Power. And Klipsch are the leaders in that. People love Vintage and the ,,good old days,, - but inside of most Klipsch Speakers are cheapest Electronic Parts. I owned also a lot of Klipsch Stuff back in the days but now when i compared my actual (and previous) speaker with them, the Klipsch Stuff fall apart in every aspect (sound quality, imaging, depth, build quality...).
Because not everyone is an audiophilia lol. Klipsch has good sound for the price and stylish. The only thing I won't ever get is their subs. Just not great in my opinion but everything else sounds good.
Good review. No offense, but the words Klipsch and Reference should not be put together. Ever. They may be good for old hard rock and roll, or old pop music, maybe electronic (not real sound) music, but to me they always sounded harsh, not real. I play real live music. I want that real, professional, live band sound. Klipsch sounds not real to me. But if you like that sound, you should get what you want. They are well made speakers and last. But their spl specs are false. I prefer a studio monitor, balanced sounding speaker.

Any 600m II owners here who’ve also tried the Sonos Arc + Gen 3 sub + Rears set? The Sonos Arc/Sub w/ ERA 300 rears is the first decent sound system I’ve had in over a decade and I’m loving the sound but I’m considering exchanging them for some better, longer lasting passives. Just curious if the Klipsch will have a similar sound signature to them, but only a much bigger and wider stage?
Why companies are obsessed with making bookshelf speakers with six and a half inches speakers? Who limits them? I just imagine bookshelf speakers with at least 8" woofers or even better 10" woofers, then we will not to ad a separate subwoofer, they will look t terrific nice in a pair of stands!! With nice punching Bass, and they should call them FLOO-SHELF speakers, a mix between floor and bookshelf speakers.
Like I said in my video, the room determines so much of the sound, it's important that a reviewer understands how much it affects what they hear. I even said, the bass sounded weak in my large room, but it might be the exact opposite in another room. That's why I value the anechoic measurements done by guys like Erin and Amir. Once you can separate what the speaker is doing from how the speaker is interacting with your room, the better reviewer you can be. Muddled bass is vague to me. There's a bump in the bass centered around 100hz as you can see on these graphs. www.erinsaudiocorner.com/loudspeakers/klipsch_rp_600m_ii/ Whether that sounds muddled depends on how much your room accentuates those same frequencies. Generally, I prefer it not to have that bump. I didn't experience any listening fatigue, but the tonal balance isn't to my taste. I like a "warmer sound" with a more downward sloping response. I can get that with EQ, but I understand others may not be able to or want to.

I think Klipsch hit a sweet spot for Rock/Metal music as well as great for movies and tv. I'm and old guy who has suffered some hearing damage over the years.
BECAUSE EVEN THEIR "MODERATE PRICED SPEAKERS " CAN CREATE A PRETTY IMPRESSIVE HOME THEATER FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS FAMILY.
Lol you can still use them for music
I use my RP-600m II with music and they sound fantastic, espeically with Tube gear.
Horns love tube amplification.
I think it has something to do with marketing for sure. And that's a good thing on their part.
I take good care of them.
heard some la scala in person and it sold me on the entire company mission. it made so much sense
Hey Joe, you should compare the 500 second gen to these speakers they actually sound better for some reason
Fact
I like Klipsch because when I crank my RF7-IIIs it ssounds like my house might collapse.
I only go with Klipsch from mains to surrounds to subs, perfect sound every time with movies and music!
I like my RP160M for light listening to loud listening. Small/Large room, it works. And yes I miss some information in the V dip.
Try tone controls, turn up the highs. I turn down the treble on my Elac References. The have more clear highs than I will ever want. Not harsh.
Take the audiophile path, that’s a good thing , then I’ll see ya in the Klipsch future:)
Use a sub guys
I'm not a fan of the Chinese made Klipsch speakers, however, the La Scalas (and K'Horns) are the best speakers ever made, IMO
Klipsch are also made in China like the fives.
I found Klipsch fatiguing as well, and prefer my Motion 60xt much more.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience
Klipsch have improved radically in the past 5 years, let alone 20. They have mitigated shout and harshness while retaining the dynamics and impact.
Is Klipsch the #1 selling speaker brand in the world? Or at laest America?
Subjectively speaking, I heard a lot of bookshelf speakers of these class, and regardless of price, my favorite are the JBL 305s and a close second are B&Ws, I know the JBLs are monitors, but I like their sound signature a lot. I have a pair of Klipsch too, I just don't like their sound signature.
How do you connect your wires to just 5 binding one wire to red and the other to black?
May I ask do you need a subwoofer? Or can you feel the music with just two tower speakers?
RP600's are just okay at $400/pr, definitely not at $750/pr.
I had to dust off my mid 90's Pioneer receiver(super bass button 😂) and tilt the speakers upwards slightly to get the sound I wanted. They're just too position sensitive for music listening as I go about doing things within the house.
I'd probably be happier with some Polk ES20's now after doing a little more research and figuring out what I really want out of a speaker.
I am thinking of the RP 500M for rear speakers. If I find the 500m II around Black Friday for a good price should I buy it instead?
Is possible buy it in piano black im interesting RP6000 in piano black
The Klipschorn AK6 is the one on my list.
since you are a fan of bass, if you haven't listened to a pair of polk audio s20 bookshelves, i have a pair, the originals, they go down to 38, 39 hz ?? not bad for a 6.5 driver

Not heard any Klipsch other than my CDT-2800 15 degree angled baffle in-ceiling rears that are way better than the monoprice they replace.. super happy with them aimed at MLP.. I sit 6.8 feet from the center channel, since I have the sofa 3.2 feet from the back wall and the speakers and TV are 5.1 feet further from the front wall (due to ceiling issues).

@2:29 -- Can't give you too much bass, they gotta sale those subwoofers. 🙂
Are you speaking for yourself as well?

The Micca rb42 exist.
The consensus seems to be listening fatigue from all the reviews I've seen, with muddled bass.
There's a bump in the bass centered around 100hz as you can see on these graphs. www.erinsaudiocorner.com/loudspeakers/klipsch_rp_600m_ii/
Whether that sounds muddled depends on how much your room accentuates those same frequencies. Generally, I prefer it not to have that bump. I didn't experience any listening fatigue, but the tonal balance isn't to my taste. I like a "warmer sound" with a more downward sloping response. I can get that with EQ, but I understand others may not be able to or want to.
yup

I have a whole set and I'm not impressed.
They all sound muffled.
I have some edifiers that put them to shame.
What edifier model you have?
Three subwoofers?!!! Possible bias? He he (Just joking I know multiple subs have benefit)
Some might have a better look? 😱 None never
Haha! You got me there!
