Great video as always. I would love to see some in wall speaker reviews. Due to my limited space the planned single garage conversion is the only pace to create a more dedicated cinema area. This means in wall speakers are a must to reduce clutter. In wall speakers reviews seem to be hard to come by from thorough reviewers like yourself. It would also give you more Klipsch speakers to review that you have not reviewed yet. Monitor Audio CP series were also ones I was thinking of for the room.

@@homeofVash We may at some point put together a review of the in-ceiling speakers we have but doing reviews of in walls or anything that requires construction is simply not realistic.

I think it is great that Klipsch had refined their new speakers. It is a fine line when you try to make a speaker more linear AND maintain the "house" sound. Some die hards may not like it, but then why are there companies like Bob Crites and ALK Engineering selling upgrades for Klipsch speakers? Paul Klipsch's dream was a two way Klipschorn, but he was limited by the technology available and had to make it a three way speaker.
I fell in love with the La Scala as a teenager so there will always be a soft spot in my heart for Klipsch. I have moved on to vintage Altec speakers. It can be a slightly more expensive habit.

Enjoy them immensely, first new speaker purchase since my Athena AS-B1's 26 years ago(still really like those) but the Klipsch-RP600M can be heard clearly by my wife who wears hearing aids. Great review as usual Andrew! I went from Polk to Klipsch (both towers) and was blown away. The soundstage and center imaging was incredible to the point where I kept checking my center channel to ensure it was off. LOL. For the money, I think the reference premier is best in class. Don’t let complaints like crossover stop you from owning these for a few hundred if you want speakers that the crossover cost 300 for each speaker then spend the money for those but nothing can rip on these speakers at this price point I can enjoy these for a lifetime and let someone else pay the audiophile premium tax if you know what I mean.

Oh also PEQ. One thing folks might like to know is that if these are like the previous model, they have excellent directivity and therefore respond very well to Parametric eq - which means the speaker can be tweaked to taste without generating conflicting issues in the process. This ability is a rare and excellent trait. (Accurate/Consistent Directivity)

A few days ago I bought a pair of Klipsch rp-500m ii and I liked their sound; they are my first Klipsch and they exceeded my expectations. The characteristic of their sound that I liked the most is that I hear the voices up front, I like that prominence; on the other hand, the high frequencies were not aggressive to my ears. I paired them with a Rotel 1572mkii integrated and a velodyne subwoofer. Good video.

I just purchased and set up six pair of the new Klipsch 600V2..😊 why you might ask?? Well in a very large room that's forty-five feet long and 30ft wide.. I put a333 configuration on each of the four walls about 5 ft above the floor..+ 2 15 in 600 watt subwoofer set.. this sounds as good or better than a bunch of Tower floor standing speakers.. the power rating to the Klipsch 600m V2 is 200 w atts x 😊
Twelve of these.. I understand that that many may be able to afford that sort of setup but it is absolutely sonically awesome. Being 5 foot off the floor it's above all the furniture and there is no complexion with the sound because of the fact that they are away from all furnishings together. So if you can give it a try I think you'll like it😊

My Heresy IVs ROCK! My advice to Klipsch, take a lesson from Harley-Davidson! They attempted for the last decade to pursue the non-Harley rider and failed, nearly bankrupting the brand. A new CEO who realized they needed to pursue their core customer was hired and now they are selling motorcycles again at a profit. They are focused on pleasing their customer rather than converting others. Do what you do to the best of your ability.

I bought the 600 m 5 days ago knowing absolutely nothing of reviews or opinions. I installed them to a 2 channel receiver that puts out 100 watts per channel. I listened to my new Denon turntable, cds and Blu-ray music, I listened to bluetooth music. I was just totally thrilled. For example I listened to “tempted” by Squeeze, and it was shaking my sternum and I heard little percussion things that I never remembered hearing before and I was in heaven. Then I got on you tube and these guys with graphs and sh!t told me that objectively the 600 m speakers are horrible and you are not hearing a huge chunk of the music from the source. They proved to me that my extreme level of joy and satisfaction is not really happening at all. Says so right there on paper that I am not enjoying it and I am not hearing what I am hearing. That soon I will develop listening fatigue. So even though I love love the sound, I know it’s not a good sound at all so I tore them out of the receiver and just chucked them out into the street. I can’t believe how full of crap some of these guys are with their graphs and their snotty little pot belly attitudes. I am so glad I didn’t watch the bad reviews before purchasing. I probably would have spent 3 times as much and hated myself for that. Graphs be darned I love the way they sound.

Outstanding review both the content and visuals!
I have the Cornwall IV’s and I agree with you that the midrange is recessed relative to the top and bottom. Maybe, as you suggest, that’s what people think of as the “Klipsch sound”, though to me, the thing that sonically differentiates Klipsch the most is their livelinesses at low volume. In this regard, they remind me of certain electrostatic speakers and are the opposite of typical planar magnetics and omnidirectional speakers; speakers that require lots of current and power to wake them up.

  • @jordansjournal3077
    @jordansjournal3077 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

I like the old Klipsch sound better. This version is too refined for my taste and they boosted the mids in such a way you don’t get any of the smiley face EQ you had before. The best balance was the RF ii and RB ii from back in 2011 era. Still had titanium tweeters, but way more bold overall. I don’t care about speakers that are dead linear. As long as they’re not harsh. And those aren’t IMO. If all you listen to is maybe classical music, the new RP series works. If you’re rock, pop, jazz, house, go with older RF, RP, and RB ii. My opinion - there’s no ultimate answer here.

Strident, sharp stringed instruments, realistic horn instruments, and ok but not great highs. I find the highs smooth and elevated but not as sparkly or detailed as other speakers such as b&w. I have the 600M II and Heresy 1 - and while I like the 600M II, for loud orchestral music (like Respighi Pines of Rome or Mahler, etc.) I like the tonal balance of the Heresy much better. Given they're quite different speakers in design and age overall I still have a strong preference for the Klipsch Heritage series. I sit within large orchestra brass sections playing the kind of music mentioned previously and I haven't heard any other speaker - including the supposedly "smooth and linear" speakers that another commenter prefers and who claims Klipsch is for party/home theater - that comes close to being able to reproduce what an actual brass section sounds like.

Great sound but unfortunately after a few months the aesthetics of a white speaker got to me. I then read your oh so comprehensive review of the new Klipsch RP600M ii. In a 2 way design, a smaller 5.25 inch speaker, or a 6.5 with a phase plug is going to work better. The reduction in cone area means the speaker will play higher before beaming and sound better off axis. That's why the smaller woofers sound better. Yes you sacrifice bass, but not much. Plus, that's what subwoofers are for anyways. 6.5 or larger woofer in a 2 way design is not a good idea. Might sound good perfectly on axis, but off axis, response will get worse. Lower the crossover point and the compression driver will suffer. Basically should be a 3 way design at this point. But larger woofers sell, so these so-so designs will continue.

@@tonyb3350 I totally agree. In my setup I use my Rb-51II in sealed mode close to my wall and it crosses with my sub at 80Hz without a problem. I’m almost sure that a 4” speaker would do the job either. I don’t understand why people keeps choosing larger woofers or even towers with multiple woofer (and a lot of alignment problems ) to use with sub. The bass from larger books are artificial. Usually they have a large 80-100 Hz bump to impress the audience but have no extension and, if you use with a Sub, you are going to crossover at 80 Hz anyway and you’re going to get a much more powerful and cleaner bass.

@@tonyb3350 I don't experience any issues you mentioned with my Focals which have a 7 inch driver and Monitor Audio Silver 8 inch woofers do an excellent job too. The issues with MA are that upper mids and highs can sound a bit compressed and shouty, too much all at once rather than showing subtle changes in music/soundtracks. Need more refinement in those areas.
But there is something special about a well designed and implemented 5.25 inch driver.

I run the older Reference Premier RP250F (powered by 2 Rotel mono amps at 100wpc). The front of the room has basic sound treatment and the towers are placed on outriggers that are isolated with anti-vibration pads.
The overall 7.1 all Klipsch system is co trolled by an Onkyo TXNR828 (I rebuilt the buggy HDMI board my self), with Fluance RT85, Rolls Bellari preamp, Onkyo C7030 CD and Samsung Bluray.
These speakers sound fantastic, much better than their 700.00 purchase price. Highs and mids are tight with a wide definitive soundstage. The twin 5" mid-bass drivers lack deep bass so I have added a 12" Klipsch sub.
When set up properly, these speakers are in the entry "high-end" category. I sold high-end audio in the '80's and have owned some pretty respectable gear. Now in my mid 60's with a low budget and audiophile desires, I am very satisfied with my current rig.

Klipsch needs to make a decent center channel and get away from the MTM config. Their off axis response is way too narrow at +/-10 degree. I have the 440c I sit about 15 degrees from center and it sounds fine until I bend my head in and I'm hearing nuances that disappear just be moving 5 or so degrees away. Klipsch should make a 3 way for the RP line with a W T/M W topology. Their bookshelves/towers, Atmos and bipoles are perfectly good otherwise with some EQ to taper down those hot tweeters a bit.

I've never been so anxious to hear what Kristi thinks....and what she said has sold me on these guys. If Kristi likes them, they must be good.
I have Klipsch RP400M's for my home cinema system, with Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-402S for surrounds, and a Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-500C for the center channel. And, of course, a nice big 10" Klipsch subwoofer to round out the system. They are fantastic, and the reason why I like them, is what Andrew said: the off-axis sound is impressive. Not everyone can sit in the "sweet spot" when watching TV's or movies, so having a nice WIDE sweet spot is a must, and the Klipsch really deliver in that regard.
Most importantly, the speed and power of their woofers is just incredible, even on the originals models. Best combo home theater/music speakers on planet earth, bar none.
The only brand I would go to as an upgrade to Klispch: Martin Logan.

I have no skin in the tribal game of brands, but I do own the rp600m and am still regularly impressed by them when they get their stand time.
Everything you described about the mkII seems to be a step in the right direction for what I would improve with the current set. Cabinet bracing especially, as the older will resonate a bit. And if they improved quality of crossover and binding posts which results in clarity improvements, again a big yes.
Like you two, I also wish that Klipsch went further with finish options. And I'm not talking the rarer piano black that they've done with older RP. Piano black is like owning a black car. Looks good new, but usually breaks your heart after a wash or in bright sun.
How about painted finishes? Matte white. Or even vinyl wrap in graffiti tag by some upcoming artist? We all know speaker choice is often lifestyle based as these things stick out in a room. If I were Klipsch I would really push the style options. How about texture coated? Be bold Klipsch! Your sound is. Make the look match

I think sacrificing a smidge of sensitivity for a flatter frequency response is a win win. On the RP 8000F ii, the reported sensitivity is the same as before (in room 98dB/2.83V at 1m) but if they fixed the frequency hole from the last generation, it then appeals to a much wider audience. There are plenty of ruler flat offerings out there and what makes Klipsch unique is their higher sensitivity and engaging, livelier dynamics. In terms of price point, there aren’t too many mass market higher sensitivity offerings (>90dB) speaker lines so Klipsch really is in a unique position here to appeal to both casual music fans and die hard ASR measurement purists. We just wrapped up an evaluation of a speaker that (for me) makes me wonder why anyone would spend more --unless of course you simply wanted or needed a different type of speaker, or maybe one with a different look. That review is coming, but yeah, I hear you, things have gotten really good.

Finally, a review of the 600m, albeit version 2. I have the original and have considered upgrading recently. I was thinking going more “upscale” for better sound. Instead, I may simply add a set of v2 along with a marantz 6015 and call it a day. Loved the review.

I’m in the market to upgrade my front speakers. I also have the klipsch 504c but I’m more concerned with music vs speaker matching for home theater. If I spend upwards of $2000 on bookshelf’s, would I really see that much of a gain over the v2? Or am I better off sticking with relatively matched speakers? I’ve watched all your videos. You guys are def the best, hands down.

How would you compare these with martin logan? I was between klipsch and Martin logan years ago and because of the clarity of sound and beautiful aesthetics, chose the Martin Logan. I'd be interested to know your thoughts.

I just got a pair of walnut RP-600M iis this morning and pair it with my X4700H. A world apart from my Polk satellites...about 8x Polks would fit in the Klipsch cabinet)! They were on sale for 40% off ($449/pair) so I couldn't resist. They sound good with jazz and I'm watching Star Wars now. Eventually I will replace my other speakers, maybe starting with the center channel. Should I replace my sub with a Klipsch or is it OK to mix brands??

It's too bad you never brought the 500M ii to try and A/B comparison. My experience is the 500M ii is a smoother more enjoyable speaker. The inside pieces are similar to 600M ii, so you don't lose the improvements.

Andrew! Such a good review, especially with commentary from off camera Christie. But thanks to you, I now feel guilty about maybe being an audiophile snob because Klipsch just doesn’t have audiophile cred. But wait, we have a couple of Klipsch R-820Fs in the great room where we watch movies. Got them because well, they are loud enough to fill the room, dang it! And they were on sale! Bless you Best Buy for selling me an endless supply of Denon multichannel AV amps and those rock-n-roll piss-off-the-neighbors Klipsches. They are good “don’t bother to crank it up, they’re already loud” speakers.

Dear Andrew and Kristi, I absolutely appreciate that this channel looks at budget friendly products as well as more expensive ones. Those musicians like myself who scrape a living to produce albums on Spotify / Apple can not afford the higher priced items. So great sounding, less expensive equipment is always good to learn about on your channel. I had one thought. Since I’m on the topic of budget friendly gear, for those (and I think we all should be) concerned about carbon footprints at this stage and for those who have to balance buying more expensive equipment with the increasing cost of power bills (see the UK), I’d be interested in a video that looks at all in one solutions that use less power to enjoy great sound quality and music listening. Power consumption ratings could be included on all powered items and also looking at products that use recyclable plastic or wood for example would be of great interest…. I think we live in an age now where we have to consider these things. For example, streaming vs buying vinyl/CDs is an environmental issue and I’m sure most people would hate to think on this, because we all love our CDs myself included. But that’s what we should be considering I think. Some would say that’s not what this channel is about - but I think it could be at least in a minor way. Personally, I can not justify having several devices powered on at the same time to play one album when there must be more power efficient options that sound equally good and are more reasonably priced. Anyway, I’ll shut up now and get a bacon sandwich..minus the bacon because I’m a vegetarian…oh and minus the bread because I’m diabetic. I’m a great imaginary cook….

yeah, for those of us who want to stick with seperates, I presume "power hungry" speakers use more power. I also presume a less power hungry speaker uses less power, _even if the amplifier is capable of supplying more power_ (?)
Me, I switch everything off via wall switch when I'm not using it -- that's a habit I learned growing up.

When doing a value comparison, you should really look at European pricing for some European brands. I know for a fact that brands like monitor audio, focal and triangle are way cheaper over here.

Thanks for the good review. My feeling is that what they've done with the crossovers in the Heritage line has been nothing but great, I don't think anyone said the IV's of the Heritage were not better than the III's. And the main complaint of the III's was the high end. Thanks again.
