Randy, another great review! I’ve had the first generation for a few years and wondered if the new model would be better. I’m going to stay with the first gen. Newer isn’t always better. I tell my wife the same thing, “For greater clarity and less sibilance, stick with your vintage husband.”
I'm there right now I got the RP 8000f and the RP 504 c for full price 2100€ not even a month later bum new ones came out now I don't know and the new RPs haven't even araved here screw this place
Thank you for a great video! The way I see (hear) it, the original sounds real with all the liveliness and realism of music. The "updated" II version, on the other hand, reminds me of how the Noise Reduction system worked. If you'd recall it, it was simply shaving off all the noise, including the true essence of real sound, making the listening experience boring and flat. After comparing the two, I no longer want to replace the original Klipsch RP-600M. Like what cheapaudioman said: keep the original!
Randy, I picked up a pair of original RP-600M's last month to replace my Optimus Pro LX5 speakers. I'm very happy you did a head to head comparison of the originals vs. the V2s. Coming from the LX5's the sonic difference is night and day on the plus side. Couple that with a $250 discount over the newer model, the original RP600Ms were a big win for Me! 😊😊
Love this. I've been thinking about the OG 600Ms for my bedroom rig since they made such a splash a few years back. At $397 a pair delivered it's truly a no-brainer. BTW, I'd encourage anyone who hasn't tried Tidal to sign up for that 3-month trial. Talk about a no-brainer...
According to Audio Science Review of the first gen RP600, there was a massive dip in the crossover frequency indicating poor crossover design and integration of the horn-loaded tweeter and woofer. Now that you've mentioned Adele's voice being more forward, it seems that they have finally addressed that issue.
I wish Klipsch make a 8' Woofer bookshelf speakers, with rich punching Bass, so we don't need to connect an additional Powered subwoofer, and they should call it: FLOO-SHELF SPEAKERS they will kill the competition!!!!
Thanks Randy, bought a pair of RP8000F's 6 months ago, and was worried as soon as I did Klipsch would intro an updated version. (Knew they had been in production a while). Sure enough the mk2 came out and I was bummed I bought early. Your review alleviates that suckered feeling I had I had traded away a pair of the older RF82 ll , and the RP8000 sound sweeter in the horn and a better presentation. So I'll enjoy the RP8000 and not worry about upgrading.
I bought a few speakers and ended with Klipsch RP160M cause it was easier to hear at low volume or cranking. Small or Large room. Depends on taste....bon appetit
Dude, love the sincerity of your review! Keep 'em coming! A BIG fan of your channel! P.S. I completely agree with you about the forward bass on the first version, which could be described even as very slight flubbiness - when you don't have a sub and your amp tends to be on the warmer side. For those who don't quite like that, one option is to eq it, or in my case, I simply adjust the crossover so that my subwoofer handles anything under 80 Hz. Then I simply adjust the volume of my sub to taste - which can actually be done for either version of the speakers - but I digress. I think BOTH are excellent speakers for the money and I will never regret buying them. Cheers.
Nice to see Sith Audio sponsors back in action! I would never dream to upgrade my RP600M to the 2nd generation, there are a lot of very 'interesting' speakers in the $700-1,000 range and if/when tired of the 600 I'll go for a totally different sound. At less than $400 the originals are bargain compared to the II. Nice fun video, Mr. Randy!
This was my thought. I'd rather keep my original RP-600M and have my money go to something quite different (perhaps the KLH Model 5 or the Polk Reserve R700). With Randy's video...I'm even more convinced this is the path I will be taking.
i feel the same. i'm going to get something with a soft dome tweeter and paper woofer to experience a sound opposite the klipsch. i'm thinking dynaudio evoke 10.
@@shitsandwich1983 wow same but I was thinking either the evoke 20 or special 40 after I upgrade my electronics. I have the borea 03's ( paper woofer and soft dome tweeter) and they are different to the 600m. Love them both!
Thanks Randy, I have bought some of the discontinued Klipsch at your advice, 6 pair plus a center channel. Out of all pairs the r-14m image the best and they are 3 generations old, but still available new. Your reviews are very valuable to us. Glad to see your channel prospering.
There is a huge hole in the frequency response in the midrange of the 1st version, the 2nd has smoothed it out. I think the magic of the first one is that what is an outright mistake in the version version actually sounds good in a way.
Funny thing is Randy really describes the difference exactly what I predicted. They fix the hole in the midrange but from what I understand there is a phase shift...that forward midrange he mentioned. The new woofer has a bigger voice coil ( big is not necessarily better) that's probably why he preferred the older model the punchier base the smaller voice coil has a better controlled magnetic field and the coil also has a tighter controled electromagnetic field. Fix the cross over in the first generation with a little better parts with a little more overlap and keep it fairly simple and you could have a winner.
Yeah, got a pair of originals for 320 euros. Not in a hurry to upgrade, for 2x the price. Put a subwoofer with them (speedwoofer, SB1000), and it's a real fun combo.
I purchased a pair of Klipsch RP160M’s last year, which were replaced by the RP600M. I would love to see a comparison between these, and maybe even the Mii series.
Hey Randy - Thanks for the review. I guess what I have learned over the last several months is that I'm quite far from being an audiophile. I have no skill in being able to plug-in a set of speakers and tell if they are in-phase, out of phase, have dips, peaks or valleys or anything else that is commonly discussed in articles, charts and/or reviews about these Klipsch RP600Ms. I suspect that like myself, this is also true for many others. It may sound small and but I really do appreciate your descriptions especially how you reference points in songs that you enjoy listening to as well as the time you spend talking about what is different from speaker to speaker. That at least in my opinion is very helpful. If you say these are a steal at $400 bucks thats my queue to take your years of experience and knowledge, and trained ear, as a green light. Thanks again.
The reason why you hear more detail is because the 1st gen is filtering out the mids which brings up the lows and highs and adds more clarify. However, that's not a good thing per-se. You want reference speakers to be as flat as possible naturally. If you need to tweak the curves, you do that at the EQ level.
Okay, after watching this yesterday I thought about finding a used pair of those. And I instantly did. Only 20 minutes walk away! So after 200 bucks and some sweat I am now a proud owner of the RP-600M. And yeah, holy crap. What a speaker. This is actually the 2nd thinner wall speaker I heard recently, the other was a Russell K. Red-50 for 2500 which alerted me to the joys of BBC thinwall style (with modifications). And all I can say is, this gives an amazing full bodied bass while not feeling bloated at all. I did some slight bass EQ and sub not needed, plus the output is real quality. That said, they are rather ruthless with sibilant recordings and hide nothing. But that's okay, not all recordings have to be fit for HiFi.
Randy I purchased the Klipsch RP600M from ur link brah.. $345.00 is go time. I am pairing it with the Onkyo TX-NR7100 9.2-Channel THX Certified AV Receiver.. You freaking crack me up keep it going.
The new ones also have better drivers, changed crossover, better braced cabinet! They have a much flatter frequency response as well. I plan on getting a pair soon. Love the Cheap Audio Man👍
Technically, I would consider the RP175M to be the 1st generation of this speaker. The main difference between the 175M and the 600M is that the 175M had a built in plinth. I’m one who doesn’t like hearing cabinet resonances so I’d probably prefer the RP600M Mk2.
I think it would be good to test at normal vs reference levels. It lower volume, the original 600M has a lot of detail, indeed. At high volume, the original became shrill and even painful in higher frequencies. I ordered the gen II to compare and hope it corrects this issue.
We all know the Klipsch signature is brighter and more foreword and the M II is no exception. Definitely less so than the original 600 M. It feels more balanced. Supposedly has an upgraded cap for the tweet. Compared them both to a KEF Q350. 350 was very nice, but sounds muted when compared to the Klipsch. Compressed content is such a mixed bag, often lacking in one area or another and we expect our monitors to sound good zeroed out.
Just got the 600m for $329 on amazon, great deal for the piano finish, brand new, thx for your video, hope I like them so much more, than my bose 201 and 701s, I've had for 25 years!!!
I saw your two year old video when you sold the original. I bought the originals big sale when they came out with the new ones. I thought they were ok near field but not good for my room. But I kept them. Took over a year for them to open up. Just recently opened up and I have them aiming straight with a very slight toe in.. for the price they are okay and will be moving them to my gaming room once I get my JBLs The 600m are good for techno and more vocals. Music like Depeche Mode comes in pretty awesome. It took a long time for these speakers to open up and they are still not perfect but for what I paid, I am happy. They will be awesome for my gaming speakers coupled with my surround Axiom speakers QS8s. FTW: I also upgraded my Tidal to master and using through USB with my Rotel A12 MK2. I noticed when Tidal gives me a song in MQA.. always sounds more defined. And using 24 bit@192.
Thank you for this! No one else mentions anything about the differences between these two except frequency response and neutrality. I prefer the 1st gen too, and at $250 it's a straight up steal.
While I logically don't want to believe in burn-in I can't deny that IRL burn in makes a difference. And a few hours doesn't do it, I find it takes at least 96 hours. Some speakers take more, like Q-Acoustics. (Best way to do this is to play a good mix of music and sweeps and noise, mono at around 70dB. Reverse polarity on one speaker and then face the speakers towards each other at an inch or less apart. They pretty much cancel each other out in terms of volume which means you can leave them running for a week without driving everyone crazy in the house). So if you like the brand new first gen because it's brighter, that actually might mellow out a little over time as the speakers break in.
Hi. Not clear on your feedback. Erin's both measurements (objective) and sound clip (subjective, objective) shows it has better midrange and smoother response. I believe this is what klipsch upgraded with MII. Whether it is worthy to change is one's decision (i.e eq can be used to fine tune) and I think not necessary if you are not itchy...
Right now is the best time to start building a klipsch rp system if you've always wanted to and havn't had the cash. I just picked up the rp600's on sale for $299! Hopefully ill find them still on sale next month and boom! there's my surrounds!
I listen to my 600m's with my old adcom GFA 535 amp and my Douk Autio ST-01 as a preamp. i listen to my SSCS5's through my emotiva TA1 with a klipsch r-120SW sub. The emotiva does a great job of sending just the right ammount of bass to the sub to compliment the SSCS5's....HOWEVER, in my small room the OG 600M's do just fine on the bass, the dont knock paintings off the wall, but they get loud enough to piss off the battle ax
Hey, how about a comparison between the 600M MK 2 and the R-P 160M? The RP-160's are $375 on Crutchfield. I bought them last year at $375 and would like to think that they are still a good deal compared to both versions of 600's.
I modified my original RP-600Ms by replacing the 3.9uF tweeter cap with 10uF. This virtually eliminates the scoop at 1.5 KHz. I also replaced the 9.1 ohm resistor with 13 ohms which lowers the treble by about 2.5 db. I added a switch on the terminal plate to switch between original and modified. This mod is easy and inexpensive. I recently purchased the RP-600Mii, and I like the sound of my modified RP-600Ms better. Punchier bass and more balanced.
@@davidlepoidevin4239 Thanks for your comment, do you think a subwoofer is a must ? By the way some recommend me the polk audio es20 as they have fuller sound and more base.
I still have Klipsch RP-160M and i don't care to upgrade every 5-6years whole system. People who have Klipsch Reference Series RB-81 II with 8" woofer cone probably happy to these days
Bought first edition . Wasn’t happy, felt they had a hole in the middle of sound , very dynamic and I mean very . After further research on frequency response measurement from reviews it was confirmed that there in middle a huge drop . Sent them back went with warfhdales 225 and very happy with them a lot better than klipsh
Epic video! Buy what you enjoy, and dont hunt for perfection. Perfection doesnt exist in audio. But the search for perfection in audio leads to disappointment.
I've been undecided on which gen for a while. I've listened to many reviews and you are the only reviewer that likes the first gen 600 over the MII. Now I'm going to have to do more research because I can get the 2nd gen 600 for $460 new and that's a very good price.
thanks, randy - this comparison couldn't be better timed. i'm updating a room / system and literally have been going back-and-forth on the mk1's or mk2's. was leaning toward mk2's until this video. need to decide soon, but haven't listened to either. now i'm leaning towards mk1's to try them out while still available. the lower cost is also very compelling. again, really appreciate this video. 👍
Thank you for providing relatable information based on Artists songs that ppl know. Too many of these youtubers have a room full of wood that looks like an Apple store and talk about Piano tracks and lame dentist office rock. I can't relate to what that sounds like because its not what I listen to.
Just ordered another set of the OG as you call em for 299.00 will happily use them in another system of mine. Will get the next generation after the hype is done and price comes down. Good video.
Je weet waar je over praat zonder slap gelul. En op een leuke manier...! Heb je de 600m gehad en weer verkocht. Twijfel of ik de nieuwe ga kopen. De video is nog niet klaar dus ga nu verder kijken . Goed bezig..!
The fact that you are getting more detail from the first gen is because of the hole in the frequency response. They have tried to give you an artifical hiend sound that isn't right. From what I understand, they have flattened out the version two which actually should show the flaws of the electronics a lot more
_”Sometimes_ you can get a heck of a deal on a discontinued speaker.” *cough* Wharfedale Diamond 11.4! *cough* Unfortunately, they only sound half as good because I only paid half the price. I believe you’ve said on multiple occasions, Randy, that the sound of a speaker is directly proportional to the money paid for it. Thank goodness I didn’t get them for 75% off. 😉
I have the RP 160Ms, the precursor to the 600Ms and MIIs and unless I’d listen to all 3 side by side I doubt I’d find the difference enough to sell the 160s for either of the other 2. Right now NewEgg has the 160s for a screaming buy at $195/pair vs $700 for the 600MIIs….I know what I’d buy🥴
I bought both...couldn't help it. had to get the piano black version of the 600 M's (sexy). Got the 600 M2's on sale for a couple hundred off. Love both of them. One of the reviewers said that you have to move the 600 M2s around as they need a wall for bass, but other than that. Love them both.
The 600M is more tuned to the average consumer's taste. Slightly bumped up bass, slightly attenuated upper midrange and a boost in the treble. The model II removes much of the dip in the midrange.
Funny the things one listens for. Dire Straits, Private Investigations. Towards the end I'm listening for a cats meow followed by the tinkling of glass, like a bottle breaking. Very indistinct but it's there. I only have bottom dollar gear, so it could be that with a "good" system, the tinkling sound of glass might be as clear as day. Dunno, never investigated that probability.. But you're right Randy, it's those subtle differences we use to assess the perceived quality of kit... One song I've always had trouble with, and it might just be a peculiarity with my hearing, is Song For Guy, Elton John. At the end he says "Life, isn't ev-ery thi-ing." All I've ever got out of it is "Life, isn't it very fair." Folks I've asked all say the same. It's the former. I can hear the former a bit better because I know what it's supposed to be, but I still hear the latter if I'm not paying attention. Maybe I need to get out more...
I just bought the original rp600ms brand new in July 2024 for $349 with free shipping. I believe I would prefer them to the 2's other than the price. The originals are criticized for a frequency dip in the midrange area of the sound spectrum that many people prefer anyway. There is an " unpleasant ", if you will area of midrange that people don't like to hear , and that is where the original 600m's had a " dip " in the crossover from woofer to tweeter. I would rather have that dip myself. I think other people would too. Back in the equalizer days many people turned that part of midrange down, if not completely off. I think I would prefer the originals because of that. The 2's took that midrange dip out and made it a more flat response in the about 1kz to 2.5 kz frequency range. That is a particularly " annoying " part of midrange to many people. I have no doubt that the original 600ms sound is what I would prefer because I like a dip in the 1kz to 2.5 kz frequency anyway. I, like many other people, don't like 1kz to 2.5 kz anyway. I don't want to hear that part of the midrange sound frequency anyway. That part of midrange is annoying.
I for one really like the original 600M as it is a pretty engaging and damn fun speaker to listen to. The sheeple over at ASR can measure dips & trips all day long. In system #2 paired w/the super excellent budget minded NAD C 316bee V2, they are fantastic. And at $349 currently, it’s an easy choice. Great review as always ⚡️
Get involved with a guitar building forum and you will quickly discover discussions of clamps as in depth as any topic in home audio. In fact, it can actually cost more for the clamps than materials to build a guitar.
RANDY DUDE thanks to your videos and answers in comments i got my hifi setup, t1+ + emotiva a2/pt1 just arrived today, and holy crap its amazing, im surprised how t1 have such a good bass without sub , if it wasnt you i would not hear about emotiva gear , thanks a lot!!!
Great video Randy 👍 I do worry that when a 2nd generation of a product is launched, at least a portion of the development goes into looking at ways of reducing production costs vs giving us a better product. It makes sense of course in order to give consumers a new product at a similar pricepoint when all the associated costs are forever increasing. Normally, we won't know or care as long as the said product performs as expected. BUT with audio equipment - especially speakers, we may actually hear the negative implications of this cost-cutting. We may not see it, especially if the perceived visual quality of build and component choice can be boosted during the "upgrade". Food for thought?
Neutrality in tonal balance does not dictate whether a speaker has punch/slam/soul moving and rockin capability nor does it dictate how transparent/clear/warm/cool a speaker is. Just sayin.
I haven't heard either speaker, but if I did, I may very well agree with your choice. But more air, more detail, being able to hear things buried in the mix, could also indicate a boosted treble. Would be interesting to know whether turning up the bass and treble controls on the new one would sound like the original. Or turning them down on the original will get you an RP600M ii, as well. Two for the price of one.
I have a hard time taking independent advice from someone who is hocking “audiophile wood clamps”. As if that’s a real thing. Curious how these differ from regular wood clamps.
Hi Randy! Do you have bookshelf speaker recommendations that are small enough to fit on desks and are in the $200 and below price range for 2022? Some of your recommendations are awesome but it's just too big for desk speakers. Love what you do and keep up the great work!
I have read another reviewer's conclusion that is almost the opposite of yours. He concluded that the second generation has a more balanced three-band frequency response than the first generation. The low-frequency impact is not as strong as the first generation, but in exchange, the resolution is higher. The mid-frequency is not overwhelmed by the low-frequency and high-frequency like the first generation. The high-frequency is more restrained and not as deliberately enhanced as the first generation. Overall, the first generation is easy to get tired after listening for a long time, and it may be more suitable for watching movies. The second generation is more suitable for daily long-time music listening.
This is the fist component I purchased without 1st viewing your review. That being said I never heard the original 600’s so I’m good with my purchase. The Mark II’s pair nicely with all my components, that you recommended. Thanks Randy!
It's kinda funny, I have a pair of RP-600Ms in front of me. They replaced a pair of Heresy IIs. Even with a good center channel (Klipsch RC-62), the RP-600Ms just sound better.
Honestly to me both the first and second generation is a 600 m r about identical to each other for me it was all about the price of 600 or the 600m mark 2. If you wait just a little longer maybe 6 months 600m Mark to will seem much more reasonable in price . Understandably it is a long time to wait for upgrading bookshelves which handle as much power is these two handle all the way around, but I'll tell you if you want a little extra money in your pocket to buy the kids pizzas or have a movie night or something of that nature more often just give it a little time and you'll see exactly what I mean
Every review always saying these too bright and I like a speaker that sounds this way it sounds more alive but omg just reduce the treble on the Amp cut that 10 to 20 khz
Thanks for your honesty and the focus on Subjective opinion. I wonder if your front end might be something to play with, and the selected test tracks changed, to add some depth to the test, based on other comparisons made by other evaluators. Steve Guttenberg prefers the new version specifically because he thought they were clearer and more lively in the mids and vocals, the opposite of your remarks. And it seems you didn't include any Chet Atkins records, so yeah, man. It's a great review, but I would like to hear your opinions after playing something like Chester And Lester by Chet and Les Paul, and maybe Cruising For Bruising by Basia. Great review. Thanks again!
I recently grabbed the original version on Amazon for $350. The Mk II is $650. Is the new model $300 better? It would be hard to convince me of that. Anyway, I'm glad I got them when I did, because they are now out of stock and the MK II is all you can get. If you find the original version in stock in a store somewhere, SPEAK UP and ask the store to give you their best price. Most places will cut a good deal to get rid of old stock. All you have to do is ask. Shyness won't save you money.
Hi Randy, Lowe your videos 👍 Did you take some time to “warm up” those new m2’s, or comparing brand new straight out of the box ? It may sounds funny, but when i bought my new 600M’s (1-st gen) a year ago - straight out the box (first day) the overall sound was a bit different then after week. I was thinking to bring them back, butt after few days starts “come alive” in a good way. Wood be interesting to compare between brand new and used !!!
I just got my pair today(along with RP-502S IIs !!! wow holy ish. Loud clear and HUGE !!! 🤣 like the made my R51m's look small. This are certified skullbashers and I would advise you to get them
Thanks for all the great info and advice in your reviews. About to pull the trigger on a pair of speakers for my first hi-fi system. Would you say the Mk1's are twice as good as the Fluance Signature? (found a warehouse deal)
😎Great video Randy ! Thanks for the data dump. If I was in the market for a pair of those Klipsch bookshelf spkrs, I would go with the older version at that nice discount too.
Sounds like the extra med in the second generation is drowning out the treble and bass. I build speakers and design crossovers and just one ohm difference in resistance on the med inductor can easily make that much difference.
The original has a U shaped frequency response with a large suck out in the midrange which would drive me mad but seemingly lots of folks like it. Go figure.
Thank you for this video. I have been toiling over which set to buy. Your review helped immensely. They with the klipsch center will complete my transition to a full klipsch 7.1.2 system. My two 12 inch subs, rear surrounds and atmos speakers were klipsch while my center and towers were Polk. I wanted consistency. I will sell off the poles or use them in my gym. No other reviewer gave me the insights you did. I love the music choices you made also Great review

I bought a few speakers and ended with Klipsch RP160M cause it was easier to hear at low volume or cranking. Small or Large room. Depends on taste....bon appetit
I am really happy with my 160s!
My thoughts exactly. When I do move from the 600m it's gonna be a tier upwards.
i feel the same. i'm going to get something with a soft dome tweeter and paper woofer to experience a sound opposite the klipsch. i'm thinking dynaudio evoke 10.
@@shitsandwich1983 wow same but I was thinking either the evoke 20 or special 40 after I upgrade my electronics. I have the borea 03's ( paper woofer and soft dome tweeter) and they are different to the 600m. Love them both!
@@BryanRuby None of my business, but I think you have the right idea..😉
Agree. After one or two years, my first generation improved !
Good stuff become better with time... ❤
If you need to tweak the curves, you do that at the EQ level.
he doesn't like the sound of flat speakers. neither do i. you can't tell people what they should want.
You are a Best Reviewer.
600M is still Best.
Interesting take. Steve Guttenberg says the new ones have better clarity, but either are awesome.
I think I’d be happy with either. :)
So does everyone else. Randy says exactly the opposite of every other review I've seen or read!
That’s with Metallica oh please
The new ones also have better drivers, changed crossover, better braced cabinet! They have a much flatter frequency response as well. I plan on getting a pair soon. Love the Cheap Audio Man👍
some people don't like the flat response, but I preferred flat response
Just bi Amped the rp600m original version. Big difference from standard installation. Love the channel. Keep up the good work
What does bi amped mean?
Technically, I would consider the RP175M to be the 1st generation of this speaker. The main difference between the 175M and the 600M is that the 175M had a built in plinth.
I’m one who doesn’t like hearing cabinet resonances so I’d probably prefer the RP600M Mk2.
175m or 160m? I have the 160m and i remembered i demoed it side by side with the 600m and i heard no difference
Sith audio reduced the first 60 seconds to uncontrollable laughter. Oh yeah, Nice review of the Klipsch.
Awesome! I have the rp-500ms - do you think it can be done on those? Best regards!
@@vladimirerfan7721 I don’t think you need to modify the RP-500M. The scoop at 1.5KHz is not as large as the RP-600M and the treble is not as boosted.
@@johnmd1970 Thank you! 🙏
@johnmd1970 I’d like to contact you regarding this modification. How do we connect?
@@jessewebber9245 Any ideas on how to do that?
Just picked up a pair of 1st gen in piano black for 349 Amazon! Wow thanks for your review going in my office can hardly wait!
Are you happy with them?
@@RanTausi shockingly good
@@davidlepoidevin4239 Thanks for your comment, do you think a subwoofer is a must ? By the way some recommend me the polk audio es20 as they have fuller sound and more base.
I have a set of them in my cart but wondering if pairing with a tube amp would be better to get a warmer sound stage?
I still have Klipsch RP-160M and i don't care to upgrade every 5-6years whole system. People who have Klipsch Reference Series RB-81 II with 8" woofer cone probably happy to these days
Wow, now I can replace my Pittsburgh F-Clamps that twist and bend when you apply any pressure with these SITH Audio enclosure clamps!
But the search for perfection in audio leads to disappointment.
absolute truth
Finally someone with a “ii” review on the Klipsch! ☕️
Damn you! You made me buy the Klipsch RP-600M on sale at Amazon for $379 right now.
I've been undecided on which gen for a while. I've listened to many reviews and you are the only reviewer that likes the first gen 600 over the MII. Now I'm going to have to do more research because I can get the 2nd gen 600 for $460 new and that's a very good price.
I just ordered (Amazon) today a pair of Klipsch RP-8000F in piano black for $978 before tax!
thanks, randy - this comparison couldn't be better timed. i'm updating a room / system and literally have been going back-and-forth on the mk1's or mk2's. was leaning toward mk2's until this video. need to decide soon, but haven't listened to either. now i'm leaning towards mk1's to try them out while still available. the lower cost is also very compelling. again, really appreciate this video. 👍
Thank you for providing relatable information based on Artists songs that ppl know. Too many of these youtubers have a room full of wood that looks like an Apple store and talk about Piano tracks and lame dentist office rock. I can't relate to what that sounds like because its not what I listen to.
I like your videos at the second one!
"hi im cheap audio man. In the cheap audio man we don't feel..."
Bang... the video has been liked!
I totally lost it with the clamps that was so funny. That made my day.
Just ordered another set of the OG as you call em for 299.00 will happily use them in another system of mine. Will get the next generation after the hype is done and price comes down. Good video.
If new, from where?
@@Dortch3 Adorama
I have both models and love them both now.
Je weet waar je over praat zonder slap gelul. En op een leuke manier...! Heb je de 600m gehad en weer verkocht. Twijfel of ik de nieuwe ga kopen. De video is nog niet klaar dus ga nu verder kijken . Goed bezig..!
Literally 8-9 hours left!! BH Photo Klipsch 600m ii $299.00!!! Plus free shipping for me in Michigan.
Luv my first gen. No reason to change.
The fact that you are getting more detail from the first gen is because of the hole in the frequency response. They have tried to give you an artifical hiend sound that isn't right. From what I understand, they have flattened out the version two which actually should show the flaws of the electronics a lot more
_”Sometimes_ you can get a heck of a deal on a discontinued speaker.”
*cough* Wharfedale Diamond 11.4! *cough*
Unfortunately, they only sound half as good because I only paid half the price.
I just picked up a pair of 160s from Newegg for $195. It’s hard to believe that you could find a better pair of speakers for under $200.
Same here. Just got my RP-160M from Newegg. Smokin deal! Still burning in..
I wish people would still cover the rp160m's vs these. It seems like the real first gen Klipsch rp line has fallen to the wayside
Can’t believe you got to 220k subs, saw you start when your were outdoor, in a garage somewhere…
Hey, I fixed a pair of Klipsch KG3.5 with the long metal bar clamps from HF. Klipsch did a baaaaad job on the cabinets in the KG line.
At the end he says "Life, isn't ev-ery thi-ing."
All I've ever got out of it is "Life, isn't it very fair." Folks I've asked all say the same.
Thank you Randy you just clear my doubts between get the RP 8060 MK1 or the RP 8000mkii. At the Same price is a simple choice.
Get involved with a guitar building forum and you will quickly discover discussions of clamps as in depth as any topic in home audio. In fact, it can actually cost more for the clamps than materials to build a guitar.
Well, luckily the originals are still easy to find.
Great Review with a very interesting conclusion. Naturally it comes down to personal preference, as it should! Thank You Randy! 👍👍👍
I picked up a pair of the rp600s for 399 and I'm running them with the aiyima t9. Very nice combo for the $.
I definitely won’t be upgrading for the sound - I’m more than content with the originals. But I have to admit the new ones look great.
Great video Randy 👍
I do worry that when a 2nd generation of a product is launched, at least a portion of the development goes into looking at ways of reducing production costs vs giving us a better product.
The ol' profit margin upgrade
Neutrality in tonal balance does not dictate whether a speaker has punch/slam/soul moving and rockin capability nor does it dictate how transparent/clear/warm/cool a speaker is. Just sayin.
I haven't heard either speaker, but if I did, I may very well agree with your choice. But more air, more detail, being able to hear things buried in the mix, could also indicate a boosted treble.
Would be interesting to know whether turning up the bass and treble controls on the new one would sound like the original. Or turning them down on the original will get you an RP600M ii, as well. Two for the price of one.
I tried to get the clamps at the sale price but they wouldn't budge. Had to get them at regular price, but they are still worth every penny!!!
I just got the 2nd gen for $350 brand new from clutchfield. I can't wait to set them up.
I have a hard time taking independent advice from someone who is hocking “audiophile wood clamps”. As if that’s a real thing. Curious how these differ from regular wood clamps.
Didn't subscribe to your channel until this vid. You provide the needed balance.
Please do the 500m II as well. Thinking of getting those.
It’s funny how back in the day, amplifiers came standard with tone controls. That would help fix any awkward frequency response.
Great review! you rock. I just bought the first generation. Thanks.
Maybe Klipsch., is getting away from their house sound?
Wow, is that so??? I'm totally getting the cheaper 1st gen. Thanks Randy.
Hi Randy,
Lowe your videos 👍
Did you take some time to “warm up” those new m2’s, or comparing brand new straight out of the box ? It may sounds funny, but when i bought my new 600M’s (1-st gen) a year ago - straight out the box (first day) the overall sound was a bit different then after week. I was thinking to bring them back, butt after few days starts “come alive” in a good way.
Wood be interesting to compare between brand new and used !!!
I just got my pair today(along with RP-502S IIs !!! wow holy ish. Loud clear and HUGE !!! 🤣 like the made my R51m's look small. This are certified skullbashers and I would advise you to get them
The new version has a new woofer. Larger voice coil with faraday rings.
