    Sandy hook village
There’s a place within Newtown that is a place apart. Nestled along the Pootatuck River, it is a village called Sandy Hook. We began with saw and gristmills that provided the timber to build this town. We grew as a place tightly bound as a community.

Thank you for the video. It brought back so many memories. I was born and raised in Newtown but have lived in Florida 42 years. Up until 4 years of age I lived in Hawleyville until they tore our house down to build I-84. We were living right at the Hawleyville Rd bridge. We moved to a new home on Castle Hill Rd. While as a child there in the 60's I was in a drum and bugle corp, which brings me to your video. Right in the downtown area of Sandy Hook was the old Sandy Hood firehouse where we met to practice. We would march single file up to the Sandy Hook elementary school parking lot to practice marching. Later in the late 70's I worked at Earthbound Foods along the river there (the old fabric firehose building). I lived nearby and while working for a contractor based right near Sandy Hook elementary school, helping to build new homes in Sandy Hook, I met and married my wife, moving to Florida in jan 1980. As you can imagine, that area brings back tremendous memories, from the old Sandy Hook fire station downtown, going to Newtown High, the Silver Bridge, living and working there, driving up in 2012 to bury my mother in the nearby Catholic cemetery, just months before the school tragedy there. Thanks again, they've done a good job restoring the area and making it nice, and you did a wonderful job making this video.

Sadly most Americans know this town for the school shooting incident, but happily, it is more than that. It is a nice quiet suburb of Danbury.

For sure! It’s a beautiful town. So many great places I want to film! So many people now know Sandy hook for that very unfortunate situation. Such a tragedy. 🙁

So depressing what it has been in the news for all these years, because the town is absolutely gorgeous. 🥰
Can you imagine the place during Halloween or Christmas?
