The greatest voice God ever blessed a throat with!👍 Mom, listen to her audiobook... she's no diva... very down to earth and humble. Saw Barbra live in concert three times, one on New Years Eve 1999, and two times in 2006. Easily the greatest concert experience of my life... and I've seen many greats....Presley, Sinatra, Celine Dion, Cher, and dozens of others... Barbra leaves you spellbound and breathless... with nothing but herself and a microphone, and one helluva orchestra.
@donnamentrasti2695 Wow, Donna! I am in awe of who you have seen. What a lucky lady you are. I have to agree. One of the best voices ever. She is one of a kind 🤗💕
@playitagainsue I was very fortunate... worked in the hotel and hospitality industry back in the 70s which gave me great opportunities to see some of the greatest ever. Another incredible performer I saw then was the great Dame Shirley Bassey. Barbra, on the other hand, because she did no concerts for pay from 1968 to 1993, I had to wait... but no matter what it cost or where she was performing when she returned, I found a way to see her. To be honest, after seeing her, there was no one else I cared to see.
What a lovely reaction from you both. I love Barbra Streisand, her voice is out of this world. I loved the comment you made about thanking your Mum for the music when you were growing up. Our house was like that too, my Dad was a music lover and loved all kinds of music from Queen, to Neil Diamond, to Winifred Atwell, Louis Armstrong, and everything inbetween! But I thank my son for introducing me to bands like Metallica, Green Day - stuff that I would never have chosen for myself.. and more lately a guy called Frank Turner. Oh and boy do you look like your Mum!
@kimr3729 Hi Kim, yes our families and friends can be so vital in shaping the musical tastes we have. I think we had the same experience growing up...our houses were full of music. Many people have said that I look like my mom which I take as a great compliment because I think my mom is beautiful 🤗💗
I was at the MGM Grand New Year's Eve 1994 when she returned to the concert stage after a 27 year absence. She delivered and then some. I saw her once more on her 2006 tour in Atlanta. What she did both times at soldout venues of give or take 20,000 seats was to make it feel like an intimate evening of 20. There were no pyrotechnics or backup dancers, just an orchestra, Barbra and a mic. And when she sang, nobody moved. Besides the beautiful tone of her voice, it's her delivery. She had everyone captivated. And when she wasn't singing, she was funny, sweet, and engaging. And, yes, down-to-Earth. She can't stand high heels and kicked her heels off and walked around the stage without them most of the performances. She always talks about food and where to get the best coffee ice cream. Of course, I don't know her personally but more than once I've heard those who do say she's still that 16 year old girl from Flatbush. I could see that completely.
@BrettTwinSavage OMG David that sounds brilliant. I love hearing all about Barbra. She sounds lovely. How lucky were you to see her twice....cherished memories always 🥰💗
@ It's a family affair. When I was a kid an older brother took his little brothers (me and my twin) to see her comedy "What's Up Doc?" It's still my favorite movie of all time and even as a kid it made me fall in love with her as an entertainer and I became a big fan at age 11. Well that big brother and I (and now his wife, and my partner) have all these cherished memories from not only the two concert experiences together, but things like having an annual celebration on her birthday, parties for her movie premieres like "A Star Is Born" and "Yentl" (with theme/related food and drinks, decorations, etc.), and listening parties for album releases. Barbra has been the inspiration for countless memories of great times together.
Hello gorgeous!! Great reaction to a beautiful song. Streisand is definitely one of the greatest vocalists. Would love to see a reaction for Enough is Enough. As a Canadian, I must mention my love for Céline Dion. If you haven’t reacted to her, you must. I recommend Celine and Andrea Boccelli performing The Prayer live in Central Park
@richardc8795 Hi Richard, thanks so very much. I have done a Celine song a few number of months ago, if you are interested, you could check it out. I haven't heard her do rhe Prayer but will check it out. I am Canadian too. I am from Ontario. Where are you? 🤗💗
I remember taking my wife to see the movie on the first day of its public release. As a rock 'n' roller I found a lot of the musical content went way over my head, but I remember this.
Great song, love her voice and vibrato. I'm pretty sure we had this song and album in the house growing up. Haven't heard this song in eons, felt like hearing the song for the first time.
@JeromeDukes Hey Jason, it is a gorgeous song sung so very well by one of the finest voices. Everything Barbra sings makes it sound effortless and we know how difficult it is to even try and match her ability and tone 🥰💙
@@playitagainsue Yeah I'm sure she inspired a generation of female vocalist, definitely one of the greats. I mentioned Whitney is my favorite of all time. I can't remember what song it was but I remember listening to Christina Aguilera in a live setting and was really impressed with her voice and control in both high and low registers.
I'm listening to music since 1958, I rank Barbara as the greatest singer ever.. In a league of her own. I'm wondering if say her or either Righteous Brothers, or exceptionally great singers ever have lessons or mentored. That sure would of been one of the greatest gifts.
Interesting question you posed And I would agree there is no finer singer in the contemporary music world Its funny you should pose this question because just release on Netflix is the movie Maria Angelina Jolie as Maria Callas A contemporary of Barbera’s and an icon in Opera and Style I have not seen the movie yet but by same director as Jackie ( movie about Jackie Kennedy ) and Spencer ( movie about Princess Diana ) so I have high hopes. Barbara's a very hit and miss artist for me .. Her talent is amazing, and when she hits those high notes so clearly and strongly, you just have to be impressed .. But while I really like a few of her songs ( including as previously discussed, "Stoney End", "Woman In Love" ), some of her big hits are pretty "meh" to me, including this one .. The song just doesn't move or interest me.🥱
@wayne_twentyfive Hey Wayne, I find personal taste with music so fascinating. We never know what is going to move us even with artists we enjoy or think are talented. Sometimes, for whatever reason some things just don't float our boat. Often we know why; perhaps we don't like a certain genre or the sound of the voice and other times, it just doesn't hit us in the heart or mind 🤗💜
@@playitagainsue True, Sue .. Some songs, even by artists that are able to send a shiver up my spine with other numbers in their repertoire, just don't connect with me .. Whether it's the tune, the arrangement, the artist's interpretation of it, or some other unidentifiable factor, sometimes a song just doesn't work for me .. although it often works beautifully for many other people.
