Guardians of the galaxy vol 3 is the final chapter in the trilogy.
At the end of the movie, the team splits, everyone goes their separate ways, and the guardians as we know them are over.
But this is not the end of the guardians of the galaxy. Star-Lord is confirmed to return, and Rocket Racoon is the leader of the new guardians.
A team that includes two very powerful cosmic heroes.
And there’s so much story for the guardians in the future.
So for this video let’s focus on what’s next for the guardians of the galaxy, and how vol 3 might have just set up a giant space crossover event that will send the cosmic side of the MCU into Annihilation.
And how all of this could connect to Avengers Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
Alright, let’s start with the new guardians of the galaxy. Rocket Racoon leads the new team, which includes big boy Groot, Kraglin, Cosmo the Spacedog, Phyla-Vell, Adam Warlock and his pet Blurp.
So this is a really powerful upgrade of the guardians, at least power-wise. Nothing can beat the OG team, because they were a family that made us laugh and cry and fall in love with some of the best characters in the MCU.
But when it comes to power levels, Adam Warlock and Phyla-Vell already make the guardians into a cosmic powerhouse team.
I mean Adam Warlock can be on the same power level as Captain Marvel and Thor. He’s a space wizard with lots of cosmic power. So he’s gonna be essential in Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
Now before we explain the future of the team, let’s first talk about if there’s a future for the guardians at all.

So like I was saying, is there a future for the guardians at all? Because sure, the trilogy is finished, Gamora and Drax won’t be coming back since Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista are finished with the MCU. And other than Star-Lord, we have no idea when and if the team will return.
But who are we kidding here, Rocket and Groot are some of the most beloved characters in the MCU. So they aren’t going anywhere, they will return. And so will the other new guardians.
But SHOULD Rocket Racoon come back?
Doug: Wait why not?
That’s because, on one hand, it seems like his story came to a fulfilling conclusion. So it might be a disservice to keep going, especially since James Gunn won’t be returning to the MCU.
But on the other, his story just began. Because he’s finally embraced who he really is, and he was able to overcome his heartbreaking past.
So while vol 3 was the end for the guardians as we know them, Rocket and Groot will return in the future for more cosmic adventures.
On top of that, there’s the whole afterlife situation from the movie. Rocket died, he met his friend Lylla. And she told him that there’s a higher power that has been watching over him and has plans for him. And then he returns to life.
Doug: so who is this higher power?

But the broad stroke of it is that Rocket has a bigger role to play in the future, so some higher power brought him back from the dead to serve that purpose.

GOTG Vol.3 is one of those movies that has alot of rewatchability, and never get tired from it.

I watched it second time yesterday, and I was able to appreciate the film a bit more second time. I watched in iMax 3d both times
The High Evolutionary made a much stronger impression on me than Kang did. He actually scared me and got me more invested in the story and its consequences.
Omg he was fantastic. They actor portrayed the narcissism and evil so well.

This! My interest in Kano isn’t helped by the fact they keep introducing endless variants and disposing of them. The High Evolutionary (and Thanos) were strong individuals with an agenda.
@@darylsmith4267 Agreed. The fact that there are so many variants of Kang has made his actions inconsequential. No stakes, it’s boring.
The only version of Kang that’s anything close to High Evolutionary is He Who Remains. Any other Kang is just fodder.
I was shocked we didn’t lose anyone this movie, thought for sure, but this does have me excited for the new guardians! Also, that Lylla and Rocket scene had this grown man messed up! 😭

"Where the Hell were you when we were fighting Thanos?"
Surfer: "The Devourer of Worlds did not create me yet."

This movie makes me want to see more of rocket and Groot with the new team. Especially if they add nova, silver surfer, and other members down the line.
Rocket and groot is just the best
Fair that. I reckon there's a handful or more romps left in Groot and Rocket before they retire from the Guardians or become more sidelined members. Hopefully that's enough for Kraglin and Adam to have a bit of a character arc, and Adam to maybe take on the leader mantle for a bit (probably off-screen aside from cross-over event movies), then probably depart the team later. Then I hope we get Moondragon and Nova for them handling Annihilation
I think we'll see Rocket, Groot & Quill in some projects before the next Avengers film - but i do think we'll see the full team at least once more in Kang Dynasty/Secret Wars

@@Romcom_enthusiast Zoe has hinted that she would be open to coming back, but she wants to do other things first (but even then, thats a bit rich, given she is tied to Avatar until 2029)

@@Romcom_enthusiast I’m pretty sure they just said they’re done w guardians movies that aren’t directed by James Gunn. Never said anything about Avengers. Both those actors spent nearly a decade making those roles their’s, I’m sure they’d want them to have closure as badly as we all do.
I loved the twist that I bet a bunch of people didn't pay attention to, this trilogy has been about Rocket this entire time and when you go back and look it's true.

That’s one angle for sure. Quill’s definitely had his full circle moment as well.
You could make the case for that being true of the second film, but that argument doesn’t really apply to the first one

@@xxXTheLloydXxx Okay that doesn’t make the movie about him. There would be no Guardians without Quill. He sets the whole story in motion and the movie starts and basically ends with him seeing his mom’s death. The first movie is about Quill, the second is about him and Rocket, and the third is about Rocket
I really hope that if the high evolutionary does come back they give him a new mechanical face like in the comics, that would look dope as hell on screen. Villains like him and ultron always have way too much potential for just one movie.

While far from perfect, I was thoroughly entertained by GOTG3. The gravitas and stakes of this movie had me on the edge of my seat. Not killing any members of the team was a bold move in my opinion and honestly unexpected. Props to Gunn for an amazing trilogy. 8.5/10 for me
I feel like we are 3 or 4 potential team ups behind at this point. Hopefully they do some of them at some point.
Phyla- vell should be a great addition to the MCU i think she will tie in during the marvel movie ,and that's why that had her show up now fingers crossed.
Recently saw guardians of the galaxy movie marathon in the theater 6:45 - 1:30am and wasn’t bored once. By far the best marvel team!
I really hope they do this. I have been waiting for the cosmic side of Marvel & also the horror characters to enter the MCU. Looks like we are going to be getting them!
Same, I’d like a full cosmic crossover. The Annihilators could be The Marvels, GOTG/Warlock/Nova, Thor, Eternals, F4, Silver Surfer, & maybe Hulk after a World War Hulk movie. Have it be about Galactus & the Celestials, or Annihilus.
The supernatural/mystical side of the MCU should be rated R with occult/horror elements. The Midnight Sons should be Wong (or Strange) as the guide in the background, Blade as the team leader, characters like Moon Knight, Black Knight, Werewolf By Night, Elsa Bloodstone, Man-Thing, Ghost Rider, Magik, Agatha Harkness, or Nightcrawler.
The villain could be someone like Nightmare, Mephisto, or the Scarlet Witch.
what you're going to get is, MCU taking these characters that we love, and ruining them.

All great ideas. It was a much needed movie by Marvel. It pulled all the emotional strings. Cosmic ghoat roder would be wild and amazing.
Honestly, i would love to see more cosmic level events/threats, but Marvel Studios is still struggling to bring the multiverse saga together.
I think that Loki set up the multiverse the best, but it wasn't perfect, of course. From that point on, however, Marvel took the worst aspects of Loki and doubled down on them, making the multiverse very confusing and uninteresting.

I'd like to see it done as a sort of Cosmic Trilogy of Guardians 4-6, which the 1st movie where Rocket and the team figure out the threat, Vol 5 starts them on a recruiting drive to get every cosmic hero available then Vol 6 is the full on Annihilation Wave and them trying to stop it.
I hope during this Recruitment they run into the Silver Surfer. But the twist is that he's who he was before he became the Herald of Galactus.

I'm all for Annihilation, one of my favorite Cosmic Comic reads,
I also liked the way every new guardian had a chance to show how powerful they were and what they were worthy of becoming the new guardians
I think that rocket should get his own mini film
I saw a fun idea that Nova in his regular identity probably would get along with Peter, that whatever Celestial remains in him has Nova come looking. And it could be a fun buddy comedy Disney + show that ends with Adam coming with a message from Rocket.
I also have a fun Mantis idea that she goes investigating what the abolisks are so concerned about because they can't fully communicate and she discovers that a guardian of the multiverse has gone missing, which leads her to Man Thing and Jack and Eva since the supernatural side seems to be taking a backseat, they could keep them around for the space story since Ted is supposed to be the guardian and then he was kidnapped.

The Bracelets/Bands don’t really look the same, except their form (obviously it could be just some production design decision, but for me enough to theorize why they may not)
But since you mentioned the Kree as the (mcu)baddies, I add-theorized that the band of Dar-Benn on the left must be the quantum-bands(s), they are a legendary Kree and key weapon as well but more like a prototype to the nega ones (that’s why the different design decision)
While Kamala’s must then def be the nega-bands,
linking to the whole Mar-Vell Cap Marv switching places that they been adapting for the Marvels, like you said
Possibly both be at half strength, depends in the writing then, since I guess they come in pairs as well later on
So in other words :
BOTH, QUANTUM-BAND(S) AND NEGA-BAND(S) POWERS may BE IN THE MCU AND HOPEFULLY CLASH TOGETHER ! 🥳

This movie was great. Emotional Rollercoaster, Fun interactions and we get tonsee the internal banter amongst the crew which humanized them all. The High Evolutionary was amazing acting.

My predictions,
Star-Lord - Solo movie after Secret Wars (think a mixture of Hans Solo and Indiana Jones).
Guardians - Probably morph in to Infinity Watch initially, or something, but suspect they will play a part in Eternals 2.
Mantis - Disney+ series
Nebula - Imagine will show up somewhere down the road.
Drax and Gamora - most likely both we have seen the last of, but their departure has been done in a way that the door is always open for them.... so we may see Zoe back after she has finished Avitar in 2029.

Annihilation was a fun read
Everything you said sounds really exciting. Honestly would like to see the High Evolutionary back. He was a great bad guy to me not because he was intimating, or he had a great background or an understandable motive. It was because he was so easy to hate. I can't think of a villain ATM that I hate more than the High Evolutionary in the MCU, and that's thanks to Gunn just focusing on why we should hate this guy.
Hoping for a dark, gritty Sonic crossover.....

@@kevinzilla22It's kinda strange but I'm sure I saw a clip where Drax is carrying a rhino on his shoulders and not the HE.
There is also an unused, unfinished scene where Rocket is locking the HE in a cage in the town square on Knowhere.
Seeing as we were introduced to Sakaar in Ragnarok & Hulk & Skaar return to Earth at the end of She Hulk…there has to be a Sakaar cruiser somewhere on 616 that may be able to be utilized to get some cosmic people to places…(also Starfox was introduced at the end of Eternals)

Annihilation was my favorite cross-over after Infinity Gauntlet but seems like a lot to set it up, probably be another 10 years or so.

I think it would be really wise if Marvel do introduce people like Silver Surfer, Galactus in different ways to what we’ve saw before. We all want to see them again but not all just lumped into an F4 film again, having a special about The Surfer and having him as part of the new cosmic team is a good idea as he’s already a big deal to us. Then Galactus having different Heralds opens up so much much more, there is so much expansion that could’ve been done in that original F4 film it could’ve been a trilogy atleast done correct.
hmmm....the end credit says "Starlord will return", it doesn't say that Peter Quill will return. Others have taken up that mantel....

I assume Kraglin will retire, phyla vell will assume her Quasar mantle (possibly in the Nova special presentation), Silver Surfer will show up, and hopefully pip the troll will meet Adam as I love their interactions. At this point, I feel like Annihilation, Spider-Man, X-Men and Secret Wars are what's keeping me going with the MCU.
Annihilation should be a lead up event that's right before Secret Wars. For the love of God, they've ALWAYS had the right to use Nova. There's no excuse why he isn't in the MCU!!!!
But now we have Warlock. We have Cosmo. Just give us Silver Surfer and Nova. How hard is it? Spitting out freaking Echo and Eternals 2 when 2 of the best characters of all time are just sitting. Doing nothing.
Gotg3 doesn't seem to connect that much on the overarching story of phase 4, however they managed to introduce most of crucial characters that could transition the saga into a bigger conflict, if they wanted to

I feel like a silver surfer special presentation where he is floating around abandoned planets alone could work really well. Could even intercut with flashbacks to his origin. The silver surfer is supposed to be this lost souls alone in a vast galaxy so I just worry the mcu will do their usual and Try to shoehorn in as many heroes as possible

This wasn’t a cosmic MCU… this is a family movie with space as a setting.
The MCU needs a live action Annihilus voiced by Scott McNeill and Alex "I Am Number 4" Pettyfer as Richard Ryder (Nova) along with Timothy Olyphant as Nova Centurion, Jesse Alexander.
Anihilus looks kinda like Ultron. What if anihilus is the Ultron from the what if’s series….. think about it.
Kang maybe the one who saves the universe from the annihilation wave that he’s supposed to be a hero against Dr. strange. Might be interesting.
