Long story short, I came from a large family. 9 children and there was very little food to feed us. Went to bed hungry most nights. So when I grew up, I decided that I didn’t want to be hungry any longer. I had my own money and I began to eat all the food I wanted and all the food I had been deprived of. No more hunger. So in the meantime, I gained 100 pounds over a few years and developed diabetes. I said enough is enough and took hold of the situation and now I am down to a normal weight and I maintain it. I omitted all the sugar and junk food. By the way, I battled a brain tumor during this time. I realized that if I can get thru a brain tumor removal, I can do anything. Thank you Jesus.

I was 340 lbs. I lost 120lbs. I had high blood pressure and was not feeling good at all. I had an encounter with the Lord Jesus and it changed everything. I workout regularly riding my bike or jogging, and try not to eat fast food or processed foods as well. I also do fasting which helps me tremendously. I am on a 40 day fast of no food just water. I'm on day 33 right now and I've lost another 48lbs so far. Eating fresh organic foods is the best thing for us. Here in the United States the food is meant to slowly kill us and keep big pharma companies rich off us being sick from the fake food we eat. It's terrible when you actually see the truth behind it.

As much as I admire your ability to do that, I don’t think this can be healthy for everyone. I’ve lost so much weight through fasting which was never my goal. I never felt overweight, but I guess I was a bit. I’m now 49 kilos. You can have an issue with comfort eating, as I have but not want to keep fasting, for fear of losing too much weight! Having said that God still asks me to fast, which I’m struggling terribly with, as I start and stop before he tells me to. I feel like he wants me to fast permanently! I’m sure that isn’t the case. I think it’s to get delivered from demons. I know demons cause overeating, and I have other health issues too. I’m trying my best to eat right, when I do eat, but the thought to eat more is still there! 😢

I needed to make a lifestyle change because I had issues becoming pregnant and my doctors couldn’t figure out what it was so I did my own research and wound up finding keto/low carb would help solve several hormonal issues that I had so I started September 2022, by March 2023 my husband and I received the news that we were expecting our first baby after over 8 years of trying!! 💕
I said all this to hopefully encourage you to not give up, whether keto/low carb works for you or not, I hope you find a sustainable way to maintain a new lifestyle so you can reach your heath goals!

It took me until I was in my 60’s to finally get real about my obesity and health. I have lost 90 pounds in the last 2 years. I’ve got 50 more to go. As a child of alcoholics I was/ am addicted to sugar. I still cannot kick the cravings completely. For me it has to be all or nothing. Even one little sweet treat can send me spiraling out of control. On the back of Primal Kitchen products the found says” eat like your life depends on it” I love that quote, it is so true. My other mantra ( although I don’t always abide by it) is, you can’t eat it if you don’t bring it in the house. Good luck everyone. It takes a lot of strength and dedication.

I lost 110 pounds in 10 months ..kept it off for 4 years. Then covid hit...gained about 20...then my beautiful mom got sick and being her caregiver and watching her suffer daily took its toll. When she passed away unexpectedly I went into a rabbit hole of grief and depression and gained at least 50 more. But, grief and sadness aren't excuses to neglect yourself and your goals and your temple. My turning point was going to the store and not being able to fit some 'baggy' size 16 jeans. I didn't harp on myself. I gave myself grace and love and understanding. Bought the jeans and decided right there in that dressing room that I owed it to myself to be my best. To get back to discipline and being proud of my reflection. I'm back on this horse like I never left and I feel great. To anyone reading this, you can do it. You have control of yourself. You are powerful beyond belief. Just do it. Sent with love.

Your story sounds incredibly similar to mine! Sugar was my addiction. A graduation picture was my sobering moment. I cried looking at the person I saw! Now, > 60Ibs lost and over 1 year later, I’m still triggered by cake. I legit get depressed when the serving size is over and struggle with sugar for days after I eat it. Thank you bc now know I need to avoid it no matter the occasion & swap it instead. I’d never thought of it how you explained it. I thank God for your channel! Keep em coming and God bless ❤

Wonderful transformation for your health! I have battled my whole life. I had weight loss surgery which saved my life back in 2013. I lost of 100 as well. I still yoyo with 15 pounds. I loss it and regain it from carb addiction.
I emotionally eat to soothe anxiety.
I have 80% changed but still have a hard time with carb heavy foods.
Life long journey. I have several health conditions but refuse to give up.
For exercise I go to pool for therapy exercises and walk.
My trigger is late night snacks that are comfort snacking. Love popcorn. Homemade is not as bad as others but I will eat it until Im sick. .
I know I need to do intermittent fasting

I relate so much to you! Most of my weight gain is from childhood and my diet was absolutely the same as you as a child. Luckily today (31 years old) I am still overweight but I was able to transform most of my fat weight into muscle weight and my diet has dramatically changed, I focus on what gut needs (polyphenols, and everything gut needs to be in optimal shape).I still have some sugar addiction but it has nothing to do with where I used to be. I feel I am making small changes every single day.
    You inspire me SO much!

I’ve been struggling to lose the last 10-15 lbs of baby weight and I’ve decided it time to make some changes. I’ve been calorie counting regularly, I did a sugar detox, I cook most of my food, and I’m focusing on protein, fiber, and healthy fats. I’ stop eating after dinner. I’m starting to lose weight and I feel great! I initially did this for weight loss but I love how avoiding most processed foods and eating more clean ingredients is improving my gut health, I have less headaches, more stable energy, less bloating, clearer skin and even stronger thicker nails. In 10 days I’ve lost 2 lbs and I know more is to come. I know if I can make this a lifestyle I will get the physique and health I want.

In 2016, I had my ah-ha moment. At that time, I weighed 298 pounds - the most I had ever weighed. My niece was visiting me and said "Let's do your eyebrows. They look better if they're filled in - they make you look younger." That was it. That was all that it took. The bell went off in my head and I thought, "She CARES. She cares about how I look". I started my change that day. Over the next two years, I lost 120 pounds. Now, it's 3 more years and I've gained back 82. I had allowed myself to have one onion ring. Then two, then more and more. I stopped tracking my food and thought that I could maintain... I stopped exercising as frequently (we moved and I didn't have a gym). I've had a lot of physical issues in the past 3 years and I've used them as excuses. But I am finally motivated again to get back on the wagon. I'm 53 and have had a hysterectomy, so I'm not sure how "easily" the pounds will come off, but I know that I will FEEL better. Thank you for the advice!

I am 5' 3" have a small frame and recently saw that I was about to be over 200 lbs. I steadily gained over the course of 4 pregnancies, and found myself not caring about food choices or exercise because childcare took precedence over every aspect of my life. I recently have cut out all sugar and junk food, going on two months now, and like you said, not eating the sugar takes away the cravings for sugar. I saw your recipes online years ago, you make some amazing snacks and meals. Looking forward to taking all of my excess weight off. Thanks for sharing your story.

Thanks for the great videos. I've sent people here for sometime now. Hopefully, my story will help others. I'm 80, male, 5'6 and have weighed 195 for years. In spite of being that heavy my health is good for an 80 year old. Other than when the temp is below 55, I ride a bike daily 25 miles. I wasn't losing any weight. A friend of mine unable to get out of her wheelchair had lost 100# over 3 years. That motivated me to get with it. I went low carb and a modified Keto diet and skip breakfast and lunch. What people don't realize is that your body/brain will fight you. I didn't lose a pound for 2 weeks, then I lost 4 and a plateau. After a few days 5 more and another plateau. After about 6 months I'm plateaued at 25# , heading for 30-35#. I found that you are surprisingly not hungry skipping the 2 meals. It's too cold to ride the bike for a month or so now. I'm lazy so I'm not exercising which might explain the 25# plateau.
IMO the trick is to stick with it and accept the fact that it will take time. If I "need" a snack, I eat olives, a hard boiled egg or Pecans. Your recipes really help for variety. I'm down two pant sizes, and my blood work is better than it has been in 20 years. Obviously, when you hit your planned weight you CAN NOT go back to your old habits. I hope that at some point your brain will adapt to your new weight and not be fighting you.
I have found that you can cheat a little, as like going out to eat, and some alcohol. Congrats on your mission. Just remember a 25 miles walk starts with 1 step.

I'm SO GLAD you touched on the mental aspects of gaining/losing weight. Sugar is definitely an addiction. I cut sugar 2 years ago due to being diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. My A1C was 10.9 and it was the only advice my doctor gave me. He put me on Metformin and it made me feel like absolute garbage. Within 2 weeks I was back in his office trying to go over other options. He told me he didn't feel comfortable taking me off the medication, but I told him I wasn't going to take it, so why bother prescribing it? I would NOT suggest to anyone to stop doing what their doctor's tell them. I just knew, for myself, that this was not the option that made me feel good. I cut out sugars and processed foods. I ate whole foods and salads. I brought my A1C to a 7 in 3 months and then to 5.6 in another 3 months. So, I went from an A1C of 10.9 to 5.6 in 6 months by cutting sugars and processed foods. After almost a year of eating healthy, I fell off the wagon. I call it a "relapse." Holidays were here and there's so many cookies, pastries, pies, and snacks. There's mac and cheese, cornbread, and tons of processed foods. I'll never forget the day it happened. "Just one cookie," I thought to myself. One cookie turned into a huge downward spiral, because then it was another, and another, and before I knew it I was in a Dunkin' Donuts drivethru ordering donuts. Once I realized what was happening, I felt so defeated. I felt like I deserved to be overweight. I deserved to be disgusted with my body. After all, it was MY fault. So again, THANK YOU for talking about the mental aspects of this. I believe everyone has their vices. Mine happens to be food. I'm thankful I know this about myself now. I'm very thankful I found your channel. I'm here to support you and others battle this addiction and be free from it. I'm here to learn some tasty recipes. I also struggle with portion control, so the better the food, the better it is for me in the long run. Doing the keto diet caused a spike in my cholesterol levels. Being diabetic, I worry about the effects of food on my heart. I'm interested in all things recipe, the mental health part of it, and to get an idea of new things I'd like to try. I can't do almond milk. Almonds tend to mess with my stomach. I also have to be careful of my fat intake because I no longer have a gallbladder to process it. My goal is to lose 140 lbs. I've already lost 100 in the last couple years. I can do this! Thanks again for your help. I'm so thankful I found your channel!

In my senior year of high school, people started bringing cameras and taking pics. When I later saw me in them, in all of them my hands were fists. Lovely. And just like that I realized I was ashamed of my ugly nubby nails. With that realization, I quit. I can easily relate to your story at 17. They say photos add 10 pounds. Next was intermittent fasting and OMAD, regular ppl get incredible results- I didn't bc hormones. Adding the right supplements: Berberine, Inositol, ChromiumPic, LCartinine, NAC, Magnesium, GreenTea. Lastly, exercise- a simple 30+ min walk/hike. Get that sweat in has made a difference for me! I'm down 15lbs in three months, 50lbs to go. I want to get below 200lbs! I wish I knew where to start with this comment. Thank you for being out there. I’m nearly 70 years old and lost the baby fat after my first child at 60 I lost 60 pounds and looked great. It wasn’t all I needed to lose, but 75% of it. Then I gained it all back. It took three years to put it all on but by golly, I did it!😢 A year ago I knew I could do it again so I started the low-carb lifestyle once again, got back to the gym, and lost 40 pounds. Unfortunately, I put it back on and a little more. I need to get back in line to feel better and to be more confident.
I guess this is mostly true confession for me right now, but I thank you for being out there because you have good ideas and have a compassion for those of us that have the problem. I know I am sugar and carb dependent and am addicted like you once I start , I can’t stop.

If I do order pizza I have to get a small or I’ll struggle to not eat the whole medium. Whenever I eat cereal I would have it for dessert and end up eating 2 bowls every time. I ate everything you ate as a kid. I recently got the biggest I’ve ever got then randomly started getting suggestions for fasting videos, and herbal teas, and healthy recipes. I knew that was a sign. This is the best thing I’ve ever started and glad to have lost my 1st 20 pounds thank you Jesus 😭

So glad to come across your video as I stopped eating sugar at the beginning of the year and I’ve lost 14 pounds! I find that the weight is coming off slowly and it doesn’t spike up or down by much. I don’t feel like I have to put something in my mouth every 10 minutes like I used to!! I feel so much better and if I want something sweet, I use good sweeteners like agave or honey monk fruit I’ll make an oatmeal dessert lots of videos on TH-cam! I have more control over my portions. I eat chickpea pasta most times oatmeal for breakfast loaded up with Chia seeds, ground flaxseed, almond milk Raisins for lunch a big salad with a quarter cup of black beans, olive oil vinegar and then for dinner I’ll have a good car and my snack is maybe a rice cake with a little nut butter banana fruit I don’t like broccoli and the cruciferous vegetables don’t seem to agree with me

I love your channel and recipes. I'm 58 and live without a thyroid. I was fit, exercised regularly, and had our last child when I was 39. I began to feel exhausted. It took 18 months for thyroid cancer to be discovered and then my thyroid was completely removed. I gained 30 pounds and was too weak to exercise. I have kept from gaining more weight, but can't seem to lose the original gained weight. Even with thyroid meds it's difficult to always feel my best. Your low carb recipes are especially helpful. Thanks for sharing your story.

I am 61 years old. I lost 125# on Atkins back in 2013. Now I shudder to recall how much I cried cheese. lol. Btw I’m also a flexitarian. For the most part I choose a plant based diet. Rarely I eat carnivore. I regained all the weight. In 2011 I lost weight with calorie restriction. In 2018 I did Weight Watchers and lost 80+ pounds. Circa 2023 I learned to replace my favorite flavors and tastes with lower carb and calorie alternatives. I’m down 103# and feeling like this is a forever eating plan. I’m hoping to eat this way forever. I’m thankful for content providers like yourself for providing not only your story but tips, recipes and trials that have affected your journey.

I used to diet for vanity, now I'm dieting for health. I've gone up and down with my weight for years. I would eat dessert instead of the main meal. But after finding your channel, and after my doctor told me I'm pre diabetic something clicked. I'm losing weight now for the right reasons (respecting and taking care of my body) not just to look good in my clothes. This LIFESTYLE, because that's what it is for me now, will work for me because now I'm approaching this weight struggle for the right reasons. Both my husband and I are getting back to a healthy weight. We've both lost about 20 lbs each in the last 3 weeks. Thank you Myra for sharing your journey. Many of us don't comment but still appreciate you and your good work

For women, hormones play a big factor in cravings. It's not as simple as going low carb and sugar cravings go away. There are certain female monthly hormones that make women crave eating chocolate and other sugary stuff. The body loses iron and will make you more hungry than usual in an effort to replace those lost minerals, whether those food choices are heslthy or not is a different matter.

I have 70 to lose. I did keto a few years ago and lost about 25 and just stopped. I gave in to ALL THE SUGAR and food. My addiction to sugar has ruled my food intake and thoughts for so long. I’m back now and see now how addictive sugar and food in general has been for me, I love this video because you talk about ALL the things, not just “work out, eat better, lose weight!” It’s just so much more than that. I have lost 10lbs this last month. I focused my thinking of one month, one week, one day, one meal at a time. Baby steps. I’m healing my mind and thoughts. I’m also watching what comes out of my mouth towards myself, that positive self talk is a real thing. I love your channel so much, thank you for continuing to share your story and encouragement ❤❤❤

Thank you so much for posting this. I feel like a total freak because I work out so consistently and so hard… I do CrossFit 4-5x a week!! But even still, I can’t get my eating habits under control. It’s definitely a sugar addiction, but also junk foods are my triggers and my portion control is so out of whack. It’s like if I have a little taste of something, I can’t stop. I am probably 20-30lbs overweight, which might not seem like much, but my habits are bad and they give me anxiety. I feel like I’m harming my body by pumping so much junk/sugar into it. I’m going to bring it up to my doctor after seeing this video. Thank you!

I’m VERY similar.. one bite is all it takes. My eye opener has been testing my blood glucose levels. My numbers have been around 100-110 instead of the 75 to 85 of just a few years ago. So Ive recently been using a CGM, Continuous Glucose Monitor.. Ive been wearing it for 20 days & had almost zero sugar. (One day had popcorn) Numbers staying at 100. Now I’m pissed… determined to get this number down. Im on the 10 pound roller coaster & its exhausting.

I actually ate more veggies and protein and slowly I stopped obsessing over sugary products. The more you eat sugar the more your body will crave because it's not getting all of the vitamins & nutrients. You truly have to trick your brain by eating more veggies, all veggies all the colors it doesn't matter if you only have just broccoli or lettuce for a while either. It doesn't have to be expensive. We're made to eat goir our health. It's kinda like fancy makeup lines in those fancy bottles it looks so good but when you apply to yoir face it's really just cheap chemicals.
