That button is a killswitch that cuts the signal of the pickups to create that stuttering effect, however that whammy pitch shifting effect is done by a pedal on his pedal board.
The 2 red buttons on the front of his guitar are killswitches which turn the power off to the guitar and when done quickly can be similar to using a pick, but sounds completely different. The left hand fingers have to exert more tapping force on the strings in unison with the killswitch to make each note resonate properly. The Digitech Whammy Pedal he uses in certain places has the ability to push a note/chord to an octave higher and make the note “wail.” Buckethead didn’t invent the killswitch or whammy pedal, but there is nobody but him in rock music that has mastered their use with such devastatingly kick-ass results. It reminds me of what Hendrix did for the wah pedal and octavia. What really gets my goat is that most guitar enthusiasts and rock fans don’t even realize he is a candidate for the G.O.A.T.(pun intended) and are missing out on the enormity of his contribution which is over 400 studio albums and counting. What separates him from the other virtuosos is his uncanny, creative compositional and improvisational skills which elegantly combine simple, beautiful melodies with complex off-the-charts solos. All correct. Pike 65 has to be his opus. 451 albums last time I checked. He mastered the 3 notes-per-string scales that make him really fast, a "twitchy" alternative picking technique (rarely does he sweep), and you have to mention that Brian is 6'7" tall (7' to the top of the bucket), and plays a 1.5 scale Les Paul. His left hand stretch is the stuff of legend. Soothsayer, Eerie Canal, and Whitewash are other faves. Here, he gives us a taste of "nubbing" or 4-finger tapping (with his pick tucked under his thumb.
The red button is a killswitch he uses to cut the signal and get that stutter effect, as for the high pitch sound he uses a whammy/pitch shifter pedal for that effect
Buckethead is a guitar playing machine, and I mean that as genuinely as I possible could. It's like his whole body is designed to play guitar. His hands are so big that his guitar is custom made, not only for the killswitch buttons, but also to be a little bigger so he can comfortably play it along the entire fretboard. He has perfect control over the instrument - it honestly looks like his guitar is floating in place sometimes, only moving when he applies force to it. He's got these long, skinny arms and such rapid, precise motions that accessing the entire fretboard is effortless. And he puts out more albums than any other guitarist that I am even aware of. He's a force of raw guitar talent and effort. I don't know that there will be anyone else as dedicated to playing an instrument as Buckethead is with the guitar.
@@infin8reactions Incidentally, Buckethead is Brian Caroll who is probably best known as the guy who replaced Slash of Guns N' Roses when he left back in 1997. He was in Praxis prior to that gig and talk about a prolific guitarist, he's recorded over 300 albums and has guested on more than 50 albums of other artists, including Primus and a host of various other avant-garde bands. How he became Buckethead is comical. He was watching 1988's Halloween 4, was inspired by it and went out and bought the Michael Meyers-like mask. Soon after he added the bucket. As he says, in an interview with Guitar Magazine back in '96; "I was eating it, and I put the mask on and then the bucket on my head. I went to the mirror. I just said, 'Buckethead. That's Buckethead right there.' It was just one of those things. After that, I wanted to be that thing all the time."
His name is Brian Carrol he was raised by chicken's and does not remove his mask in public, He's in his early 50's and has over 300 album's out, the red button just does an off and on function and sounds cool as hell
Modern day Mozart, people are going to look back at him in 1-200 years and still be stunned. Its lifelong dedication, as a kid up through high school, if he wasn’t sleeping or eating he was playing guitar. If you look deep in to his background, hes on a whole other level than slash or anyone else. No booze, no coffee no swearing. Clean dude absolutely dedicated to the guitar.
He's using a pedal for a pitch shifter and harmonizer while using the button as a kill switch which just vuts out the guitar sound while the button is being held down
Buckethead is a former member of guns n roses, from 1999 to 2004, he is one of the best guitarists in history and is among the 25 fastest according to the rollins stones magazine, he has more than 200 studio albums
Slash? Buckethead is on a different level then 99% of guitarists on the planet. He doesn't drink or smoke. He has taken guitar further than anyone else. Most guitar players can play scales at 100mph. Buckethead can straight shed around 20 notes per second. But he also does theory and acoustics. Basically he makes his own notes or variations of notes. He's incredible!
What's that button you ask? Others might tell you it's a killswitch... some might say otherwise... but I'm here to tell you that when Buckethead plays, he doesn't plug his guitar into an amp...he plugs it into his heart
That's definitely not Slash. Brian Carroll aka Buckethead is 6'6" tall. He could piss into Slash's top hat. Plus Slash isn't anywhere near as talented.

You MUST hear more of him for the channel, seriously. He is music genius and has so much music recordings than anybody (300+ albums).
The button is a kill switch which interrupts the electrical signal from the guitar momentarily.

You may have posted that 8 years ago but you're absolutely right. Buckethead likely played guitar an average of 10 hours a day for 20+ years.
I saw Buckethead live. It was the most amazing thing to see in real time.

probably? Lol that thing can play anything writted on this world, he can cover any song he wants to, he's just unreal
he actually replaced Slash in G&R from 2000-2004

Wow lol didn't know that!!
He played for GNR for abit too. Slash couldn't play buckethead songs, but buckethead can play everything slash can with ease.
