I think this has a place with younger kids. When dad goes crawling, get this for the very young ones that don't really understand the hobby yet. They can thrash on this until it breaks and then replace the parts either cheap junk or scx when it makes sense.
You saved me on this one. Swear I would end up frustrated and throwing it in the garbage. I want to just get out and play not deal with bs. Thanks brother appreciate and enjoy all your videos!
Thank you for checking out all the ideas everyone had when looking at photos of it. Really sucks that it's just enough different to not use upgrades we already have laying around. Was hoping it would be a cheap rig to be able to start with for just building a modded crawler. I'm right there with you. I would probably just use the body for a class 1 build and toss the rest...
I’m have a Wltoys 2428 and a scx24 bronco, I had to do the same swaps on both, esc and motor upgrade, weighted wheels, and oil shocks, running on new Mt12 radio master transmitters, and both are just as capable. The MT12 with 4-1 multi protocol can run the wltoys esc/receiver combo and is still good. Ultimately I needed to change it to get a slower crawl but I had to do same on scx because it burned out. So with same money the wltoys at $60-$70 stock I spent a whole lot less.
What about a hot rodded scx24 challenge against a ground up build? Scx24 +wheels and tires+servo+ motor+links against a Gt5 + parts build with a lexan body. Dollar for dollar budget. I think it would be a great video plus it may inform axiel and fms what people want for their money
I have 3 of these. They are solid trucks for 80 bucks. They have held up for a year. We have tons of hours on them. I'm not a rookie either when it comes to rc stuff.
I have this jeep and I can`t find any of the issues you have. Mine is pretty good for what it is. Very smooth drive train. Slow crawling is the only issue I have. Clipped the turn signals. Maybe I got lucky.
The axial did cover doesn’t 100% fit like you said but the funny thing is if you look at the photos of this truck on the Amazon listing it has the axial logo on the diff cover! 😂 clearly not trying to hide the fact they “borrowed” inspiration from axial
Lol I seen that in your vid! It’s kinda like one of the companies who stole the double barrel shock idea.. they took a screenshot of my truck in a video and used it for a pic on their listing. Hard to believe they couldn’t even bother taking their own pics 😆
Great review sir! Thank you for saving me the $85 lol the Body is cool but ugh I can’t stand blinkers! It is legit what a Kyosho mini z should have been out the box smh
Thanks for reviewing this! Wondering if you have seen the 1/24 Tank 300? I have only found it for sale on Aliexpress. It is priced a little high-seeming, more than any scx, but it has IFS. Always enjoy your videos, thanks for being the crash-tester on this one!
I have a 1/24 orange tank300. It looks and handles great and has a nice slow crawl despite the tiny motor. The little tires are nice too. The links are very tiny and fragile, one of the link ends was cracked from the factory and I had to glue it. Their are no english directions either. The battery cant be removed and I dont know how long to charge it. It is closer to mini z size than scx24. For the short time I have run it, it has been great. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any questions.
@@toddanderson1506 Very cool to hear your experience with it. Would love to see a review video with some running and crawling. I wonder if there will be any aftermarket support for them down the line.
Depends which mofo motor but I’d say just the mount that fits the scx24. Idk though. I honestly tossed this thing on the shelf and have never touched it again lol
I'm not for one or the other but I personally bought two axial 1/24 I went to the Hobby Shop to buy the axial 1/24 Bronco while I was there I also seen they had one of the FMS the Power Wagon it looked cool I bought it to not thinking nothing about that one just figured I'd give that to one of the kids well I get to ask you a feel for the new motor in all this stuff and then I figured I would stretch the other one and Power Wagon start working on it come to find out man the Power Wagon is 10 times the truck that the axial 1/24 it is a little bigger but not much but man the low crawl speed 2 speed transmission everything about that truck is really good I put heavy beadlocks on it 312 G it is still that's phenomenal day with the stock Motor stock transmission
It honestly blows my mind how companies put out products with such issues out of the box. Although tinkering is 75% of the hobby, it's nice for things to work right out of the box. All the rubbing on the drive shaft should not pass QC in my opinion. We need to be making our own micro crawlers. Id like to see even smaller like 1/30 or even smaller with same product support as the scx24. Smaller rigs make indoor courses that much more crazy! Keep up the good honest content! 💪💯
I don't disagree. You buy something and expect it to at least basically work. But, QC is one of the first areas that get reduced to hit such a low price point. It's unbelievable (and sad when you think bigger picture) that something like this can be bought for $80. A cheap wrist watch. A cheap plastic molded chair. A shirt. All cost you this or more. 🙂👍
I know they aren't 1/24 scale but the newer HobbyPlus vehicles seem like a much better value at only $35 higher price. Off topic question - where do you buy your micro receivers from for your Flysky FS-GT5?
Yep! Great trucks out of the box. Wish there were more parts for them. Overdrive etc. I usually grab my receivers off eBay. Here’s the seller. They also have an online store. www.ebay.com/itm/224471092093?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vktv0ea_Q4e&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=i7plO3GMQpW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Dang it. Was really hoping for a better review. Oh well. Have another grandson wanting to get into it. Not made out of money. Have my own RC addiction. Lol.
Almost all these 1/24 crawlers are produced in one factory and the only difference is the brand or name. I am running RC store in Bulgaria for many years and when I visited China last year to make some shopping and close some agreements I've been asked : What brand would you like to be branded your RC's ? Now I am sell 1/24 crawlers named "BG runners" .... Globalization is a good thing ...sometimes...
I don't see how a kit will help you get what you want unless it just happens to contain the parts you want. I bought this for the challenge and for the fact that I like the body. It is horrible and the one that I have and all I've seen on youtube should by no means even be considered RTR until we fix the hateful binding they presented this with. I look forward to finding out if and what and especially where people take this. The body will be used on something for sure.
Its good seeing an honest review as always! I hate that people think something like this would be good for kids because its cheap- Like, its a whole heartache, a whole head ache, the kids are probably going to break it- Who wants to give something to kids to have the kids bring it back broken constantly? Junkjunkjunk
I let my grandkids rip till they R.I.P my junkers. It gives them practice with different models and they don't get emotional when they break or even junk them. I fix it only if it's something that just happens (a wheel falls off, a link end comes off, driveshaft comes apart without breaking, etc).
Looks like a piece of crap if you ask me. I also had a question for you, I just swapped over to a ugly af chassis and I what the rear of it exposed like your Toyota hard body but I don’t want a hard body. what do you recommend for a lexan body just the cab I’ve been looking at tinker time rc s body but just wanted to get your opinion.
I love the tinker time bodies. I usually line them with a very light coat of shoe goo because I’ve had a few of them split on me the first hard hit they took. If you line them they hold up great. There’s not a ton of other half cab options that aren’t hard bodies.
Lets be honest, you're replacing all of this stuff even if you buy the SCX24. Anyone who has spent any time with the SCX24 knows the stock electronics suck. None if it lasts. I have 6 and both the esc, and the servo, went out on all of them within two weeks. Some of them within 2 days. Either way, it's not worth the upgrades. You find that everything is just a little bit off. Better to just get the real thing.
If your into scale its a nice $80 body. Im not. Gut it and add $130 in new power, SO its now more than a Furi Wagon witch is a very good deal at $200. Why. Aggravate yourself just get a Furi Wagon.
I totally agree! I’ve had people say they got disgusted with the scx24 and quit with the 1/24s. Couldn’t imagine how they’d feel after owning this one for a day 😆
FMS is destroying Axial and and Traxxas in the 1/24 class. They have better trucks for $100 now and just a beast in their brushless K5 anniversary 1/24 unit for $200 (hind sight I know this is a year old).
$85 - you can buy scx24 axles, chassis, transmission and do a custom build to perform. Buying that and trying to solve problems and spending more money on it not worth it. Lol😊

Glad you touched on the remote issue, I had the same problem with mine, took the whole thing apart just to find out the switch was designed bad
Lol I wondered if it was just mine. Seems like they all have basically the same issues out of the box.
@@2fmrc for sure, the driveshaft on the V link is the same too, has potential but certainly not a banger right out the box lol

thanks for the Furitek discount code, saved me $52. just ordered a bunch of stuff to take my trx4m and max smasher to the next level

The diff cover would probably work with actual scx24 gears installed maybe?
Could possibly. Not sure
Thanks for the review, hopefully they will sell the bodies separately at some point. I also look forward to seeing your upgrades.
Would the steering be able to mount outside the steering horn?
I don’t think so. I kinda looked at that. It would make it a pretty odd angle.
I swapped four millimeter wide axles on it also!!
Hi Matt, what kind of wheel nut drive do you use? have link? thanks
I also changed my servo just lip the tabs off of a same size servo!!!!

Great review my friend!! Thanks👍👍
Good job. I appreciate your tolerance and patience.
Make sure every time you turn the truck on you turn up the steering drive rate I mention it in my video and metal ball pins on drive shaft
Yeah that’s annoying also 😆. Don’t really matter. Still won’t turn lol
Man. I always thought the scx24 was overpriced given all the upgrades it needs straight away.
I guess I should be grateful for what they do give us…
I just got a home made chassis for the trx4m
Thanks for the revue! Was kinda looking at these.... I may have to pass....
Great video man been loving the content
Just do a scx24 axle swap, mofo motor, new servo..and see how it goes... then use it as a custom give away... I'm sure it would be awesome
