I spent a couple of months in Japan last year eating all sorts of delicious food but it is incredible to me that the thing I probably miss the most are those super good fluffy egg sandwiches you get from bakeries in the morning. I’ll definitely make this to bring back the happy memories

We also had a cooking comp on who can make the best eggs, and most of us didn’t use made up recipes on the spot. Think before you type. Because they felt happy for winning, and after you wrote that they might feel down.

My Hawaiian wife makes them soft by using the smallest holes on a cheese grater. Plus she adds either a small squirt of yellow mustard or a 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar for a little more flavor, instead of the sugar. Great video!
To see that she was gentle enough to separate the yolks from the whites even tho she knew she was going to mix them anyway is so comforting... My mom always makes this egg sandwich and it's as simple as boiling, mashing, adding mayo, a pinch of salt and stirring it all together inna bowl, i mean, is delicious anyway but this one is so nice ♡
Egg salad sandwiches used to make me think of summer, or my mom and I making a bunch for our local parish for after a funeral, or of eating them in the community hall after a funeral of a distant family member. But now, all I can think of is my Mé Mère. She passed a few days before Christmas and I made some a few weeks before when I stayed with her to help for a bit, it was one of the last things I ate with her. She said it was delicious, I can imagine how impressed she'd be with this fluffy stuff. I think I'll make some tomorrow. :)
It turned out really yummy! I added more salt and pepper and used Miracle Whip instead of mayo (that's what I had at home), and it turned out tasting like store bought egg salad sandwiches, plus I used homemade bread. I've never added sugar to it before but apparently that's exactly what it needed to push it over the top! 😋

You know that thing where you think that something is a certain type of food and your brain builds up an expectation on how the food would taste like. When you eat it, you realized that this is not the food that you're thinking off and for a few seconds you don't know and hated the taste of this food, even if it's actually a type of food that you like but then you realized what the food is and everything is normal again. Like for example, let's say you through you're drinking orange juice because it looks like orange juice but it's actually tea and when you drink it, you got confuse and hated the taste even if you like bith orange juice and tea. I wonder if there's a word fir that experience.
I made this and it was pretty good! the sugar sort of threw me off a bit (I'm not used to the flavor of sugar together with eggs) but I got over it after the first bite. PRO TIP: if you have a pilon/mortar and pestle, use it for the eggs! the pestle will definitely be useful for pushing the eggs through the sifter too.
Great clip and recipe. I lived for years in Fukuoka, Japan, and like someone below commented, sometimes I miss the egg sandwiches the most. I bought them in convenience stores with a chu-hi when out bicycling. I now make them myself, but your method adds an extra finesse. Also visited Korea several times, I found the sandwiches there too :-) Gamsahambnida!
I accidentally left mine in the fridge too long because I forgot to pack them in my lunch. The best way to still eat it is fried with some jam on the side.

The egg white is much bigger and harder to sift when not broken. They probably separated them to make sure all the whites were broken up properly before adding the yolk. Honestly you don't *have* to separate them, but if you want an egg sandwich with a soft consistency like the video has you should separate them.
This video is complete clickbait BS. Half the steps are meaningless and unnecessary. Take for example the very beginning. Why add vinegar and salt to eggs in their protective, none osmosive, shell in an unspecified amount of water? LOL
As a vegetarian studying in Korea the egg sandwiches at the convenience stores not only were delicious but saved me so many times. I have searched for forever for a similar recipe because it's made completely different and tastes different than how we make egg sandwiches in the U.S.. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe I can't wait to try it. When I do I'll share my results. If possible can you make other recipes that can only be found locally?
@divyakunwar143yes vegetarian and vegan are different. Vegetarian can eat eggs their limit is animal flesh and eggs are not considered in that category. Vegans are the ones that cant eat anything from animals.
The best egg sandwich ive ever had was at an Asian store in Montreal. It had strawberry jam on the bottom which sounds weird but oh my hot it was AMAZING. I’m pretty sure it was Korean based off the people cooking it in the backs language.

I did this and the only thing I recommend is using gloves (cause egg hands are gross 🤢) it makes it so fluffy and creamy 🤤

Why should we separate the egg from its yolk if eventually both will be crushed and mixed together?

This looks delicious and easy to make. I bought a pack of 30 eggs for our big shopping. Then my husband went shopping and didn't know I bought eggs. He got 4 cartons of 10 eggs. We now have 70 eggs. Well 71. There was one in the fridge from last week. We have a lot of eggs. Thank you for sharing this recipe!
