    Hi, from Japan!! Japanese prefer to say letter “Z” as “Zetto”. Like BMW Z4 is “Zetto 4”. Nissan Z is “Nissan Zetto”. Dragon Ball Z is “Dragon Ball Zetto”. We love Zetto!! Ha ha. I think you are reviewing last year's model. I have the awd XLE model and get about 200 in Seattle at 80% charge. The vehicle has averaged 4 miles/kwh on on a 72.8 kwh battery. Not sure if it's a heat thing in Texas, but a full charge here would easily get over 250. Also, my 2024 doesn't have colors on the temp display.

  • @jamesdavis5584
    @jamesdavis5584 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I leased an XLE AWD 6 months ago. Traded in my 2014 Subaru Forester. If I chose to purchase the car in three years the total price will be about $33 K. That was a good value to me. I am curious what the definition of a commuter car is. Besides city driving, I intend to drive over a mountain pass to a cabin regularly. About 110 miles away. I have put in Level 2 chargers at my home and at the cabin - about $2000 in costs total. I am buying winter tires for the trips in the snow. I have been pleased so far. The safety features are quite good. What did surprise me was the costs of insurance. Triple that of my older Forester. With the adapters hopefully coming next year to use the Tesla chargers, that will allow for longer trips. One thing I learned: with the 8.3 inch clearance - important when you have experienced snow build up with 5 inch clearance - you do lose range. Will know more after the winter season as range is reduced by up to 30 percent in very cold temps per my understanding on all EV's.

  • @Polymathes
    @Polymathes 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    A year ago I bought a bZ4X XLE AWD with the winter package and level 2 charging cable. It was $43k, not $53k. The limited edition has the 360 view and the funky rabbit ear spoilers which were not worth the extra money in my estimation.
    I'm pretty sure I'm getting better mileage and efficiency than in the video but I drive in eco mode all the time.
    Interesting it's compared to the Bolt in the video. I'm not sure they are in the same category in regard to build quality, reliability as well as passenger, cargo space and comfort.
    Yes, it definitely is a commuter car and not a cross county vehicle even though I've watched videos of drivers who did use it for that. I chose the bZ4X because I wanted all the pluses of driving an EV without having to operate it with an instruction manual in my lap or driving it from a computer screen. (yes, I'm old) There is also the value variable to be considered and value can be subjective at times. The Bolt is a cheaper ev with slightly more range but it's also a thousand pounds lighter, smaller and not as comfortable. Range was not an issue for me. At the price I was willing to pay the Toyota easily won. If my budget were ten grand more I might have considered something else.

      My wife and me would have gladly went with a full EV were it not for the upfront cost. Our 2024 Prius Prime was close to $20,000 less than an entry level electric here. We are retired too and cost conscious but, not to the point where we're adverse to reducing our emissions by spending a little more. The Prime has taken us 5,700+ miles (9,100+km), in six months on just two tanks of gas. For us, the car is an EV, but one that's far more within reach for us (and many others).

    As a BZ4X owner myself, I completely agree with everything said in your conclusion. For me, the range is ok, but the price is just way too high. Thats why Im leasing mine, I would never buy the BZ4X for the asking price, it needs to come down. Im coming from a RAV4 plug in, the most noticeable thing was the floor height. Getting in and out of the car is very different, and my parents who are getting old and have difficulty with hip, leg & knee joints struggled quite abit, so I would say the bz4x is not a good car if these are things you have issues with

    The bZ4X has a striking but somehow polarizing design, either hate it or love it. I noticed the difference between the XLE with the smaller wheels and the Limited with the 20 inch rims makes a huge difference in this vehicle's overall look.

    We bought a low mile demo 2023 BZ4X limited (the same as you reviewed) for under $30,000, which is about the same price as an entry level RAV4. I guess at that price, that makes the BZ4X the best EV you guys have ever reviewed.
    Toyota designed the car for long term reliability, including the battery which was spec'd at 10 years with no more than 10% battery degradation. For us, this car is not lacking in quality of materials or fit & finish from the Lexus UX250h we traded in.

    5:49 "If you get the $7500 thing..."
    Yeah that's kinda the problem, the bZ4X and Solterra don't qualify for the $7500 Federal Incentive. It might also (at least in AWD form) be the slowest charging EV on the market, other than *maybe* the small-battery Nissan Leaf, which has an air cooled battery and uses Chademo. The HVAC is also weirdly inefficient for some reason.
    I think Toyota still does the rolling 24 hour window of 2 DCFC sessions before DC charging is disabled? Ignoring the slow charging speeds, it pretty much eliminates this and the Solterra for road trips.

    A couple of comments that I feel are worth mentioning 1) absolutely nobody is buying this car at MSRP. I was able to get this for 33k (2024 limited awd) with zero hassle. This is not an isolated experience. I’m guessing Toyota will probably make price adjustments in the future to reflect this reality. 2) I am consistently getting about 12-15 mile more range than what’s advertised and if you look around, that experience is shared by many others.
    It’s worth pointing those out because you seem very confident in your ascertainments and people considering this car should know.

They sold almost 10,000 of them in the US last year and might sell twice that in 2024! I have a lot of confidence in Toyota’s capabilities so I can only conclude that they made this intentionally bad so that they wouldn’t have to make of sell many of them. They made the decision to put a smaller battery in this so the range is low and the AWD has two small motors giving it the same horsepower as the FWD. Nobody else does that. On a more subjective level, my opinion is that they made this ugly inside and out. It has wheel well cladding that makes it look like it got in an accident and was repaired with the wrong parts. The inside has that terrible instrument cluster and yes if you want to sabotage your car, give is buttons for the volume rather than a knob. Then make it charge slowly and limit the number of times you can charge it in a day. See? EVs suck so you should keep buying hybrids and ICE vehicles.

      This will sell, but not to enthusiasts. Toyota is perceived as the bastion of reliability in an internet world of “here’s the one FATAL FLAW” videos. I applaud there’d team for not yielding to this TH-cam formula, but rather coming up with unique observations and interesting road trips.
