- I DID NOT EXPECT THIS WITH THE 2024 TOYOTA BZ4X...
Toyota's FIRST EVER Electric Car, the 2024 Toyota BZ4X had a rough start. Poor range, thermal management and even reports of wheels not falling off was pretty bad for the Toyota Brand... However, with MAJOR updates since its launch, have they fixed this Tesla Model Y competitor?
In a lot of ways, the 2024 Toyota BZ4X is REALLY GOOD. It has great looks, a nice interior and even drives very well - but with a steep price tag for any EV, is it worth your hard earned cash? Especially when the Kia EV6, Kia EV5 and Hyundai IONIQ 5 exist? Let's talk about that in today's review!

As with most Toyotas.....$20K overpriced.
(great review as usual boys )
Thank you!
CarSauce, This video deserves all the love! Liked!
Toyota is like coles and woolworths with these price gouging.
Have you looked at comparable vehicle price’s lately? Toyota may not have the “perceived” quality of others, but they are certainly leaps ahead in reliability and cost of ownership… and that means fantastic resale value and almost no down time.
Think of it like an actual investment… and it makes irrefutable sense. Loan, lease or outright purchase… the cost of ownership, no downtime and resale value are why Toyota are so successful.
@@lukeclifton4392Toyotas are not as reliable as people think. Marketing has brainwashed them.

This may certainly be the case with internal combustion engines, but not with electric vehicles.
Toyota does not have battery technology. They use cheap Chinese batteries, so they are not reliable or valuable.
Also, because they focused all their energy on hybrids, they did not have electric vehicle technology.
For that reason, the BZ4X was immediately recalled and refunded due to a defect in the wheels falling off upon release.
Missing wheels mean that Toyota has not completed complete quality testing and design verification through a separate process from the existing internal combustion engine.
In addition, the BZ4X is very expensive compared to its quality. This is simply because Toyota does not have a production line dedicated to electric vehicles, so it is expensive despite the cheap materials and quality, not because the product is great.
Yes, in the eyes of electric car manufacturers, the BZ4X is nothing but trash. Still, it is more expensive than normal products.
This is nothing more than a fraudulent act that deceives customers by taking advantage of the reliability shown by Toyota. People just like you.
The Toyota Playbook:
Step 1: spend all the money on lobbying against EVs and for Hydrogen and petrol.
Step 2: panic that everyone is starting to buy EVs en masse, make an underperforming EV and price it like it’s market leading for…reasons?
Step 3: sell
Not Toyota's first EV...that honour goes to the RAV4 in 1996. You're about 28 years behind...
any chance reviewing the new renault megane e-tech please
Hopefully!
Looking to buy soon, is the Model Y worth the extra money compared to the Atto 3?
Hard one, but with the Tesla charging network it might just be the better choice for now
One differentiator could be how much you want boot space. Model Y has like 800L + 100L frunk. Atto 3 has like.. 450L maybe. That's without seats down.
Drive both and go with the one you prefer. If you like diving into menus to do simple things like adjusting the mirrors, then you might prefer the Model Y. I find that sort of thing offensive, so we went with the Atto 3 and couldn’t be happier.
"Threw a wheel at those critics" and "Solterra Sauce"
A nice ifykyk 👍
Subaru Brumby spotted in the background at 5:42!
The name more or less means "futuristic RAV4" too! I kinda go back and forth on the styling on this vehicle I think; can't really decide if I like it or not. It definitely looks like a Toyota though.
Have you watched the @Autofocus review by Marques of MKHD?
Someone works with toyota got $8k staff discount buying brand new toyota CHR & toyota still making few thousand profits on that car .. imagine the price gouging !!.
"Charges at 150 kw, so will take 2 hours". Does it have a 300 kWh battery? I don't think do. My Volvo XC40 Recharge charges at 150 kW and I've never spent more than 20 minutes at a high speed charger. My charging doesn't slow at all until I get above 80%.
2 hours ? Nonsense.
Toyota beats Hyundai in internal combustion engines, but lags far behind in electric vehicles
The AWD model starts at $80,866 drive away, about $25,000 more than is should be, Scratchy plastics, no glovebox, mediocre interior, drivers display looks like something from 1990, average performance for $80K, poor range, Toyota is guaranteed to sell hardly any.
The problem is it’s a Toyota so people will buy it. Toyota is the Apple of the automotive industry
Too expensive, underdone in specs and performance. Toyota will struggle to sell these. I hope the wheels don’t fall off.
@@Djnosey97 True, but $80K is an awful lot of money for brand loyalty on a lackluster vehicle, let the fanboys buy it, resale value will plummet quicker than a ten ton concrete block, it will be worth nothing in two years, Toyota should just stick to Hybrids, leave the electric vehicles to those who know how to make them.
This Toyota Ev car will be the same in ten years. Other evs from now will be in the junk yard by then or hopefully at best, recycled
@@victoro6331Oh no it won’t
How is the base model 15k better value than the BYD Atto 3? this price point makes no sense for an NMC battery and a bunch of missing options and less range. Better ride and quicker charging for 15k...that toyota badge needs to be pretty strong to get sales for this poor value car
That aint no usb c port
It's not Toyotas first EV, their first EV is a RAV4 with limited production in California with *drumroll* collaboration with Tesla...
Oh boy .. I cannot believe how many gimmicks that do nothing. Just drive a Tesla for a week . You will never go back. You have to think this is Toyotas only EV maybe try a BYD as well.
The Tesla model y has a much higher rear seat. You just lied.
In Australia, once an E.V. is outside the metro areas, it's clear that their constructors didn't have the drivers in mind.
Ah here we go again with this 😴
double the range rofl haha sad for toyota
BZ4X=busy forks
Cheers to Aussie motoring media's favourite power couple! 🍻
And our Sub!
Maybe good but too late and too expensive …
It’s a tough battle!
Yes this Toyota shocked me as well. It's a shocking poor effort from Toyota.
I got one used. I got the 2023. I wouldnt buy it new.
What a bargain!!! For 65k Ill stick to driving 2023 Series 3 😎
Loosely related to the Subaru Solterra
About as loose as cold metal 😩
I would buy tesla over this even its 50k ...
It's a bit overpriced, but I'm still pretty impressed with Toyota's first EV
Beautiful car, i just don't see why you wouldnt just get the tesla, so much more bang for your buck.
Toyota are smart and they’re right. Give everyone the choice of petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric. Then eventually it will be hydrogen fuel cell cars, but they are years away from mainstream.
Sorry. Agreed with giving people the choice. But it def. won’t be hydrogen. Just educate yourself a little bit and you will understand.
Yeah sorry
Toyota price their cars so high cause they know the market is still in their favour. People will buy it just cause it’s a Toyota.
What advantage do Toyota have when there is no engine, gearbox etc, there reputation for reliability doesn't apply with EVs they have to re-earn it.
@@GDM22 it’s an assumed reliability due to their years of reputation they’ve already developed.
They pioneered the hybrid platform. People will assume they’ll nail this. (Spoiler, they won’t)
I'm afraid you have been too kind on this pile of junk car that not even the manufacturers like.
Toyota = nothing amazing
Chinese = groundbreaking (not what you want to hear)
Waaaay over priced.
在中国,这辆车被称为工业垃圾
For this price, I definitely buy tesla, or buy Chinese ev car save 20k
Buy a Lexus instead.
I hate electric cars
If ya took all the heavy metals, oils and gases out of the vehicle manufacturing you would have nothing but a thunder bolt from the sky!
No thanks.
I’ll go with my V8 diesel guzzling 200 series. Boooyaaaa
