I live in 1966! I have been since ‘66! My heart and soul simply love the years 1964-67! Are there others out there who feel the same way? The music, the cars, the TV Shows, and girls were simply the best!
@@tanilorn I hear that. Texas' Briks had a bit of a melodic edge to go along with their attitude. I'm surprised Norton or Crypt haven't issued an EP of their recordings. The Briks were consistently tough.
Hard to believe that the numbers of this record sold was no more than 4 figures. Especially when you know Ed Sheeran has had something like a trillion streams. Love the moody keyboards and soaring harmonies. A true garage punk classic.
I want the purple striped pants. Great music too! I was born in 1972 but I have loved this style of music since I was about 13 when two of my older sisters were into it in the mid eighties and used to tape 60s music programs off 3RRR and 3PBS radio Melbourne Australia.
the emotions and vibe this song evokes are insane. utterly timeless. such a shame that a song of this caliber doesn't receive widespread acclaim. the evolution of rock music is incomplete. once again, kudos to subterranean psychedelicatessen for sharing
60's Pure Gold!!! The time when the Vox Organ reigned supreme with 60's Rock Groups. But other keyboards were used in Rock Music. Garage bands were the best in the Mid 60's. These guys could've been big and perhaps a hit with this wonderful song. Good harmonies as well and the way this song is wonderfully done.
Summer of '66....carrying my 10'-2" surfboard to Thorton Beach (from my house in Westlake) almost every day with my best friend....water, BBQ, music on the transistor radio....would have liked to hear that tune. It captured the moment in music.
Me; Summer of ‘66, Great sleeping in a tent behind the cemetery while waiting for the college to open my dorm. Days spent working in the library basement sorting the archives, prayers for my Uncle Peter and cousin Jimmy, both shipped to ‘nam. Uncle came back, but Jimmy didn’t make it. He had six mos. to live while I was listening to this song.
@@mariekatherine5238 My friends 16 year old hippy sister had this summer tune : great San-Fran tune! Was 9 years old wen this came out. +JoyDivision: Joy.....maybe I can answer your question. In '66 I was just going on 13......and in my first garage band "The Rejects" in Tucson. There were SO MANY GARAGE BANDS and most had guys in them that were 16, 17, 18 yrs old and older........high school age and college age. You gotta remember that during that period, the horrific Vietnam War was really going hot and heavy, and about to get worse. America was drafting young men that were doing poorly in school and so many of these garage bands had players get plucked from them and sent to "Nam.....often wounded or killed. If you weren't in college and getting good grades.....BOOM.....you were eligible, and often you got sent overseas. It sucked so badly, and tore our country apart. The 60's were such a volatile time, and Vietnam was much of the problem. Now, not just Vietnam, but natural things like band members getting married and their wives didn't want them in the rock bands anymore, they had babies coming soon, etc. etc. Guys with jobs got transferred out of state....a myriad of reasons. Hope that helps. jbeinarizona
@@joelewing4498 makes total sense honestly, I always wondered why most of the groups of this style that made it to record only had one or two releases.. reading someone who was actually there explain it was quite cool
It would be something if history were to repeat itself in the 2060's. If music were to sound like this once again. Would some president be assinated in 2063? Only if he/she were one of the Kennedy's great grandchildren. Would the word awesome be replaced once again with the expression of...Far-Out? It's hard to say even though we won't be around. But the great music is on these Y-Tube channels before we pass on.
I just sampled a few tracks where it said how great they were...(sorry, already forgotten...) This is true Brilliance....Really stays with you, even after One take! Truly Awesome...A Real Gem...
"My House" might be one of the greatest haunting 60s tracks to ever surface this planet earth. It's one of those tracks you wish would play for an hour. The vocalist sounds a bit like Jesse Colin Young with his inflections. Sounds like he was listening to the first Youngbloods LP.
@@richardortiz8704 I hear you, these guys should've been big. Perhaps they didn't receive the airplay they deserve for proper recognition. That's certainly downright sad. This group could've been there on top alongside the Doors. Perhaps this group could've posed a threat musically to them. We know they were denied their chances at the big time. The music industry engages in cut throat practices. Only channels here on Y-Tube such as these keep these songs and this music genre alive. I'm from that time period and this is my time machine to the 60's when music really Rocks!!!
I wasn't alive back then. But my opinion is that garage rock of the 60s was meant to be young people just playing simple rock stuff. Although bands like this one, were really professional.

Another TH-cam gem.
The sound of SanFrancisco psych fills the senses. What a wicked organ.
Hammond B3, Wurlitzer tone cabinet. Many, many used that combination including my band waaaay back.
