This was one of my late wife's favourite, although tinged with sadness when I hear it, it always brings back happy memories of us falling in love with each other. Just love it ❤️
Unforgettable moments.... wonderful times, the sixties and seventies... quality music... times when everything was much more relaxed. Big contrast to today's society...! Crispian St.Peters... pure youth sentiment...!
Crispian rendition of this song is not bad but I prefer the We Five version: th-cam.com/video/uZtM7rkJVno/w-d-xo.html&start_radio=1 As for the sixties and seventies being wonderful times, that is debatable: the Vietnam War wasn't fun, the draft, Watergate, the hyperinflation of the mid- and late 1970s, the gasoline crisis of the mid-1970s, just to name a few bothersome details about those bad old days.
The first album I ever bought as as young teenager. I bought the album because of the song the pied piper that I loved. When I heard this song I loved it to. Dang, lived this song but did not know who sang it!
Im used to the We five version but this one is good too ☺
love this song lots of memories
It was originally recorded by Ian & Sylvia, but better known versions were recorded by We Five and Crispian St. Peters. The song was written in a bathtub in a suite at the Hotel Earle in Greenwich Village. Fricker wrote it-her first composition-in the bathroom because "it was the only place the cockroaches would not go".
"We Five" recorded this in 1965, but I like this version better, as it is slower.
Great song. And now I know where The Cars got the riff for My Best Friend’s Girl.
Same song as sung by We Five in 1965? Number 2 in our charts 1966.
A great soundtrack from my childhood. Am I the only one who thinks it ends a bit abruptly - as if there should be more?
Beautiful re-interpretation, to be honest hes made it his with this version, imho.
