@TylOOOr D I second BA barrels. The Hanson profile is amazing. Super accurate. Up until building my gun with the BA Hanson, I thought that all ARs were only so accurate. Shooting GTO/CORE 15 and M&P ARs, and trying to dial in accuracy with different bullets, which the CORE 15 rifles suck for accuracy, the Hanson amazed me. (I don't know why the CORE 15 barrels are so shitty, nor do I know whose barrels they are.)

I’ve seen a few of these facility tours now (mostly by Tim on MAC) and one thing I’ve noticed is that the company’s that have world class reputations (like Daniel Defense) and who are renowned for producing products of truly exceptional, top-tier quality tend to reflect that at every level of their company.. Even in their manufacturing facility.
I work in distribution and logistics and have been in many large distro/manufacturing warehouses. This may be the cleanest I've ever seen. That's always a good sign
Nice and clean looking Factory, Im a Machinist and i have never worked in a Facility that nice looking. They have some really nice Machines in there. Happy Employees and quality come with a good run company.
What fascinates me about an operation like DD is the machines that make the parts. My father was a machine tool designer and tried to get me to follow in his footsteps, but 2 years in engineering at a drafting table right out of high school was enough for me. My father was a key designer of a 8 head turret milling machine that was computer operated back in the day when the computer was a huge thing that ran off of ticker tape back in the 1960's. Machines have come a long way since then, but I do hate seeing robots doing the work that should be done by humans.

Might as well have been a surgery room. Great bunch of friendly folks, & could not have been more impressed. Even picked up one of their custom DD Kershaw knifes before leaving.

S&W I am a slightly bitter with them mostly due to how they closed down their training center in Massachusetts to civilians because of one guy and S&W’s overreaction. They were always very elitist with non-LEO when you visited the place. Also, haven’t been very vocal in the state but then again too many fudds and libs working at the factory. It’s starting to look like Colt there but I won’t boycott them but I’m not gonna call the great either.

MILSPEC is a quality production/control standard. Meeting a defined very tight specification, samples tested from each lot, done by third party inspectors, under the supervision of a government inspector. Being that, something that is truly "milspec", can not be purchased, it is produced for government use. Claiming something is milspec is false. It may be produced to the original specifications, but has not been through the almost impossible defined quality assurance and consistency testing. What I have heard about Daniel Defense reject rate, the parts they ship out the door possibly might meet milspec standards, but still have not been through the certification. Milspec is VERY hard to pass, and unaffordable for most companies even if they are doing government production.

Anything that's standardized in that way can be exceeded in quality on the commercial market because custom builders can build products that are built BEYOND milspec specifications. Every soldier, marine or seaman I ever spoke with has said their issue weapons were beat up pieces of junk and they'd rather have the AR they owned back home.
very cool. i worked for a smaller machine shop for a while making their own recievers, bolt carriers, handguards, muzzle devices, and they started doing barrels but it's neat seeing DD's manufactruing facility and how much more specialized equipment they have for all of this.
Exactly, the v11 is my first firearm I ever purchased and never regretted it. As accurate as I can shoot it even will cheap Walmart ammo. I'm looking now to sell it as I barely use it and I need the money for my aviation career. I would never hesitate to purchase one as quality is top notch.
I'm a machinist, so I'm familiar with the cnc machines and processes that he mentioned. Anything more than three axis machining gets very difficult to program, even with modern software. Being able to machine a part in only one or two operations really does increase consistency and reduces errors in the machining process.
I visited a Sig plant in New Hampshire and the security was so intense that you couldn't even go from one dept. to another without going through a security station.

Yeah I had an ArmaLite M15A2 mid and an M15A4 mid. Both reliably ate anything they were fed and accurately put sleeping pills on target. Thousands of rounds through both, (sometimes in one range session) never so much as a hiccup. Really want an AR10 Super-SASS! 😏
I run a DD barrel in my build and love it very accurate. I carry a Benchmade Griptilian every day and love it. However I will not be buying from either company ever again. Same for Dicks. I will not return what I already purchased but my future dollars will speak for themselves.

The hammer forging was really neat! But isn't that mandrel sort of short? Does the machine just keep pushing the short mandrel through the bore all the way through? What keeps it from getting stuck by the hammer forging the bore tighter around it?

My DDM4 300s is by far, my most favorite rifle I own. Hunting....plinking...or bugging out....this is the one rifle I plan to have with me no matter what. well...that and my AK...but that's a whole different story...lol!!!
Does hammerforging not change the rifling dimensions when it is machined after the hammer forging? I have red that. The new bolt action delta 5 rifle of danieln defence seems te be good accuracywise although the barrel is hammer forged. So the main thing is: how good are the hammerforged machined ar barrels?
They do nothing that PSA dont do. I would argue PSA does far more. I'm just not a fan of boutique AR makers who markets there stuff like it's the second coming.

DD barrels give me some of the best accuracy out of an AR that I have experienced so far..I dont think they get enough credit for that
Usually hammer forged barrels are not as accurate as machined barrels are. But they do last a lot longer. . .

The hammer forging was really neat! But isn't that mandrel sort of short? Does the machine just keep pushing the short mandrel through the bore all the way through? What keeps it from getting stuck by the hammer forging the bore tighter around it?

My DDM4 300s is by far, my most favorite rifle I own. Hunting....plinking...or bugging out....this is the one rifle I plan to have with me no matter what. well...that and my AK...but that's a whole different story...lol!!!

Does hammerforging not change the rifling dimensions when it is machined after the hammer forging? I have red that.
The new bolt action delta 5 rifle of danieln defence seems te be good accuracywise although the barrel is hammer forged.
So the main thing is: how good are the hammerforged machined ar barrels?

They do nothing that PSA dont do. I would argue PSA does far more. I'm just not a fan of boutique AR makers who markets there stuff like it's the second coming.
