I must have an early model P365 and it happened to me. Since still under warranty, I sent it back to Sig Sauer for repair not knowing the problem myself. Willing to bet that when it comes back it will have the up grade. If it gets the upgrade, that should help prevent it from happening again. At least now I know how to over come the problem. Other wise, I am quite happy with the firearm.
I don't own a P365. However, I am reminded of the importance of knowing what could go wrong with field stripping and the ease needed to put a pistol back together. I had an FFL dealer trying so hard to sell me a Kahr. I got the idea to have him show me how it was field stripped and put back together. When I left, the guy still had the Kahr in pieces trying to get it back together.
Yup, that’s why I make these videos. I’d love to get my hand on a Kahr to see if I could do it. Haha. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great day.
Thank you so much for showing this, these were the very two issues I had with my new 365. I kinda figured out the take down lever deal but thought for sure something was broken with the little safety disconnect lever. You covered them perfectly 👍
Where was this video a few days ago!? I struggled for an hour to get my slide back on. I must’ve just hit the right combo eventually but man, I could use this video👊

Brand new P365X user here and TH-cam recommended me your vid. Good info and will save me any future headaches. I have the revised fire control group on my Texas Ranger edition.
Wow, thanks for the advice. Every time I clean my P365 I always feel like a monkey doing something terrible to a football - now I know what I'm doing wrong. I spent $50 on an armorers block just so I wouldn't bruise my thumbs working the take down lever. The gun is nice and small, I use it for pocket carry in an Alabama Holster. But , I dread the thought of field dressing the weapon for cleaning. Those two common issues have been a real thorn in my side.
Another issue is the receiver pin, it was coming out while firing the p365 at the range. It’s still a fun gun to shoot. The hellcat has some quality issues too and that’s what makes it hard to choose between these two popular pistols.
The retention springs that hold the receiver pin in may be missing or weak. You might want to reach out to SIG and ask them to replace them for you. Or you could just buy them and replace them yourself. I added a link below that shows you where to get them if you’re interested. Have a great day. alnk.to/2jLGVTG
Got a new one last week. Love the thing so far. Cleaned it after I bought it and the day after I shot it and didn’t notice any of these things, I’ll have to look next time. I’ll be surprised if it rusts as long as it’s wiped down weekly at least since it’s now with me everyday. We’ll see.
Congrats on your new P365. These are things that can happen but easy to fix. As far as the rust, you should be fine as long as you take care of it. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great day.
The amount of people who cried "it's not a problem" without reading your previous replies are ridiculous. Appreciate what you do UBR Arsenal, fucking sucks to be a content creator today. Everyone's the 6-year-old expert.
Man I don’t know what to do, am close to purchasing a 365X but I’m wondering if a Hellcat or Reflex would be a better option. I like the idea of the slightly longer grip on the Sig but the short slide, I like the trigger better in the FN, and the Hellcat seems the only one with no common issues of the three.
I will say this, the opinion is up to you, but my older brother owns both the hellcat and fn reflex. He loved his hellcat pro, although snappy, but regrets his fn reflex. For him, it shot strangely so he is looking to trade it in
@@theflair3314I ended up getting the P365x I like the combo of shorter slide and capacity. I might pick up an Xmacro grip module at some point not sure.
I am a woman with not a great deal of hand strength so I have a very difficult time with the slide and then locking into place because it takes both of my hands to hold it. I have both a smith and Wesson M&P 22 and a Ruger 380, both very easy to field strip and clean. My p365 is new to me and very frustrating to disassemble. Are there any tricks or do I just have to take it to the gun store when it needs to be cleaned?
My wife has the same issue with her P365. We noticed that her P365 slide became easier to manipulate the more rounds she fired through it. You might need to shoot it more to break it in.
I've never encountered that issue before. I'm certain there's a way to replace them. I would assume that there are tutorial videos available on how to do that.
Mine rusted like a boat anchor in less than 2 months, and sig wouldn't warranty it. They said none of the parts (front/rear sights, backplate, and slide near the sights) weren't "coated". So, it wasn't covered. I have a p226 that went on 3 deployments with me and I've owned it for over 15 years. No rust. Sig will NEVER get my business again.🎉
Sorry to hear you're having this issue. I've had mine for multiple years and I EDC mine in the summer. Shockingly it still has no rust yet. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great day.
I have an X-Macro and a couple 365LX's one of which was bought in 2019. I had a weird sort of corrosion spot on the first 'LX on the left side of the slide where the P365 engraving was. Pretty sure it was from condensation that I failed to wipe off. Never rusted, but wrecked the nitron finish in that small spot. One of my 17 round mag spares that I carry developed what I thought was a rust spot that came off with some gun lube and steel wool. There's still a slight mark there, but it didn't go down to bare metal. Everyone's body chemistry is different. Maybe your sweat is a bit more corrosive than most, or maybe you got a bad batch. I'm 3 for 3 with no real rust to speak of.
Dip your sidearm in "Prolix" CLP every six months. Very easy carbon fouling clean up with a nylon brush. Water proof your EDC. No Rust or corrosion on any of my 365x macro's after two years and over 5,000 rounds. First 365x Macro Comp 4,000 rounds. 2nd 365X Spectre Comp and ported in my EDC rotation. No Rust. Yes, I was concerned after buying a few new Sigs. Seems like they are to worried about meeting price points rather then building quality. They seem to live on past reputation. Say that, my Sig Sauer 320 X5 10mm shots awesome. After many year in the service it is Sig or FN for me. Never have been sold on Glock. Use Prolix as it also stops rust and won't come back! Our unit was issued Prolix in the Gulf. It is better then MPro. Frog lube,. It is a dry lube for very dusty environments. Get on wet and then drys. Watch the carbon just fall off when soaking. Soak new weapon, wipe dry, apply Prolix "Xtra T" wet lube to outside of barrel and slide points. Shoot. Soak in.Prolix again and watch the carbon fall off!
First issue is plaguing me. I did accidentally bump the take down lever back to 3 o clock. Got it back down. But now when I put the slide on, I can't get it back to 3 o clock to lock the slide in place. Everything else seems fine. Slide will go all the way to the rear. Just cannot get take down lever back to 3 o clock.
I had a hard time coming up with a title that fit what I was trying to show. I don't think it's necessarily a problem, these are things that can come up that can be an issue. The p365 is my primary carry pistol. 👍🏼
Every handgun with a safety lever will stick up some times preventing you from putting your slide back on, this is not something that only happens to Sigs.
In your case, you'll have to push the slide lock up and then hold the takedown lever down in the six o'clock position. Then let go of the slide lock and keep holding the takedown lever until you get your slide on and pulled to the rear. Hope that helps.
Based on my experience, your firearm should start to break in after firing around 300+ rounds, which should make dropping the slide with the slide lock easier. However, it's important to keep in mind that pulling the slide back to unlock the slide would be easier for your wife. In my training, I was always advised against using the slide lock and instead pulling the slide back to unlock the slide. This technique has many benefits. I hope this information is helpful for you. Is that change in the new 365s a build change in the FCU, or just a replacement of a single component like a newly designed sear spring?

Yeah, both of mine have a rattle.
