I gotta give it to you man, I am a Drafter Designer for Sig Sauer R&D. This is an exceptional explanation of the problem. You really should consider submitting an application... at least for the super sweet employee discount!
I do appreciate that, I would seriously consider it since I do enjoy the work. Shoot me an email so I can chat with you, maybe you can point me in a good direction. sigmechanics@gmail.com
@frankcastle971 any idea what I've done? I was trying to put fcu back together evidently I didn't do it right as I've put slide on, it slides back and locks but trigger don't work take down lever won't go down I can't get slide off nothing is working
Funny, “ I am not a gunsmith or Sig armorer.” Proceeds to provide information beyond what most Sig engineers even know, in a well produced and succinct manner. Sig should just pay him directly instead of him getting pennies from TH-cam.
Yes I thought the same also. If you didn't make that comment at the beginning, I would have thought you where a sig engineer. SIG should really take notice of you amazing job
Hope I never need to do this, but I've saved the video location just in case. The great graphics made a relatively complex process easy to understand. Thanks.
Thank you! New out of box slide stuck as you described. Your demonstration helped to determine that if takedown lever is pushed forward slightly from where it naturally rests while pulling slide back the sear will release on my unit at least.
Love your videos and all the work you do to share your knowledge with others. I do have a question. Once you move the slide back, why not just remove the striker? It’s fairly easy to remove the striker cap and it would eliminate the striker to sear interference. Thanks for your attention.
Thank you! Yes, that is also a method to achieve the same result. I find it to be a slower process, since what I show here is less than a minute vs. removing the cap which (sometimes) can be slow due to the plastic housing on the striker.
To be fair this is not a common “problem”, it can happen for a variety of reasons. My case was likely due to how often I disassemble and reassemble the firearms.
More brilliant information and explanation that could be vitally helpful to someone having a problem, not to mention further educating us on the mechanical operation of the pistol. Thank you.
Thanks for this. When removing the FCU; the take down safety bar jumped the mating surface. Unsure why this happened but I detect any damage to the take down safety bar With the sear in the up position I was not able to reassemble the slide to the grip module. This video helped me mitigate the problem. It was a fussy job but I got everything back together and function checked and working well. I have a better understanding of the engineering behind the FCU. Would love to see the p365 catalogue become just as robust as the p320 playlists (like many SIG fanboys; I own pistols from both families).
Thank you! I’m always glad to hear when a video helps someone out. I most likely will be pausing the 320 series for a bit to put focus on the 365, next video that I’m working on right now will be fairly comprehensive and I’m testing out some new technologies to help improve user understanding. I hope you guys like it! Stay tuned.
Happened to me too. Then.. The trigger return spring kept dislodging.. I flipped the spring and reset the take down bar and it's been fine since... I'll not put my life behind this catastrophe for quite a while
I followed and i was able to field strip ,right after i topk the slide a piece of the takedown safety lever felt, it was broken right at the the tip of it, thank now i jus have to hunt down the part.
Damn, I thought it would be like the P320, because you can pull the trigger to take the slide off if you don't have a takedown safety lever. Appreciate that you explained why that won't work with the P365. (With the P320, you might have to slightly move the slide rearword while you pull the trigger, because it won't always just release if the slide is even slightly too far forward).
This happen to me, you don't need any tools. Just rack the slide, and put it back in firing position with empty mag obviously but make sure empty mag is in the gun and no round in chamber obviously, dry fire once. Then pull magazine, rack back and lock, then the slide lever to remove will go in 6pm position and all good and slide should slide off. If firing pin was in fire ready position a while as we carry with a round in chamber and never dry fired prior to removal to reset, i run into this issue and cant easily move slide lever to 6pm to remove slide. Sig told me you don't have to dry fire to remove slide on this gun but I think they are wrong and you do.. because getting that slide level to 6pm is a pain in the ass sometimes so have to do the steps I mentioned. Thanks for the video and the understanding of the insides of this weapon if i ever get it stuck and have to remove slide like you did.
My slide got stuck one time and a good armor friend had to figure this out by messing around and it took a few days... It never happened again but if it does this should do the trick! Thanks
Not really. It just failed one day to the next. I made this video after it happened to me a few days back. I asked ModGuns if they have heard of the issue (since they have a substantial client base) and they said that it has come up quite a few times. So I figured it was a great opportunity to talk about it should someone in the community experience the same, and also use the chance to educate others on the pistols inner mechanics. Thanks for watching!
That is one of the best ways to do that. If you watch a video I made about forgetting your takedown lever in the P320, the methods are pretty much the same (only the P365 FCU is harder to access the sear due to the FCU closed off construction).
Excelente explicacion.
If you can’t turn the lever, follow the instruction on the video to release the slide. Then inspect the internal parts to see if anything is out of place.
@@SIGMECHANICS As someone who cut their teeth on cleaning guns figuring out how to get a ruger MKI apart unassisted at ten, this was quite funny to me. I need to spend more time with my 365 to get used tot he internals. It is not the same beast as my MK25, or anything else I have had my hand on. Thanks for putting this up.
I have a new P 365 xmacro. First disassembly reassembly was tough as the take down lever was very stiff. Had a spring kit installed by an armorer, shot about 80 rounds through it no problems. Went to disassemble and the take down lever only drops down maybe quarter inch - tried everything but it wont disassemble. Arrgh!
I had the same issue with my p365 SAS after installing an aftermarket trigger and spring set. It is confusing on an SAS because it has a takedown button or screw instead of a lever.
SAS is definitely more annoying, I can only imagine the headache people get if they experience a problem that makes the takedown hard to turn (which is a common issue), and then not having the leverage that the lever provides.
Just had this happen yesterday while sighting un my macro TacOps to be a carry. Trigger is dead, slide won't come off. Can't imagine what I'd do if this happened during a defencive situation..
Wanted to ask if Sig ever designed the FCU to shoot automatically for testing or military? The Glock 18 and some pistols have automatic parts but wondering if this was ever designed or thought of. Really would like a binary trigger since some Glock triggers are capable of doing so.
Fantastic video. How did you make the rendered animations for the video? I work doing troubleshooting and technical support for an aftermarket parts company, and being able to make animations like this would be amazing for helping our customers. Thanks!
The Cali version will not fire without the magazine. This seems like less of a safety feature and more of a safety concern. Would you be able to do a video on how to delete this feature?
Thank you for the video. I have this exact issue..is this possible to do with an aluminum frame? I am trying my hardest, but cant get that fcu up high enough. Is there anything else i could do or am i screwed?
And alternative method will be to lock back the slide, remove the slide cap and extract the striker assembly from the slide. Once you do that you do not need to drop the sear.
@@SIGMECHANICS Thank you for the help..i must be doing something wrong. actually tried that and to my surprise still could not get it to slide forward. May try it once more before im out of ideas. Thank you
Hey Sig Mechanics I have an unsually ungoogable question. When I put my slide back on, as soon as I rotate the down lever into horizontal position, the slide slams forward. I have two P365's and the other one does do that.
It’s the same for me, though I never really thought about it. I’ll take a look into it and see if I can provide info on the “why” from a mechanical POV. Great question!
Yes! Hopefully it will. Most issues are easy to resolve, if you’re like me then a gunsmith is more for serious issues that require machining or specialized equipment, for minor things there’s no need for downtime without my gun, which is especially important if it’s your EDC.
I have two P365s. The slide catch release lever on my older one easily comes out when I remove the FCU. I am able to put it back placing the spring in the proper place. It is always loose however? Is this normal? Comparing the slide catch release lever of the older FCU vs the newer one, the newer one seems to have a slightly different design that lets it sit more securely. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks
I find that the levers are all loose, the way the part just sits in a recessed area that’s not press fit will almost certainly mean the piece will come out if not managed correctly. When I hold the FCU I always place my thumb over it to avoid it coming out… just the nature of this design really.
Thanks! I’ve been looking for where to buy these picks for a VERY long time, i find many types but none with the flat and sharp ends. I have no idea where I got it but everyone asks. So unfortunately I can say.
@@SIGMECHANICS What is the width and thickness of the flat end? Appears to be about 2mm wide. My issue is even after removing the end plate and the striker assembly the slide won’t move forward AT ALL! Return takedown lever to 3o’clock, drop the slide stop lever and functions just fine. Icarus Precision XL Evo grip module, Armory Craft takedown lever and slide stop. FCU fit to frame EXTREMELY tight. Assemble and reassembled FCU several times. All of the sudden can’t remove the slide as normal. Any thoughts?
@greglipsit1866 grab your recoil rod with pliers (use cloth or leather for protection if you can), pull straight out and then up to angle the head lower, release and try again. If not try the same but rotate 1/4 turn and release.
Alas…no joy. Being very careful not to scratch the barrel or dust cover, used needle nose pliers and shop towel over the recoil rod pull straight out then up. It keeps tripping the takedown lever. Relock slide to rear. Pull recoil rod straight out, rotate 1/4 turn then up with same result.
I think I didn't reinstall my FCU properly. I tried installing my CA FCU into an icarus x evo today and now I'm not able to move the takedown lever at all and the trigger is loose and not functional... it's just stuck on the frame! Any ideas or help please?
@propblast82nd Ah I see, that process would need its own video, there’s a few tricks to making it easier but you can (with knowledge) minimize the need to disassemble much further.
hi sir. im having a problem with p320 slide stuck with the lever installed in this case can you make a video the effective way to remove slide. the slide is very hard
If this is for the P320, I do have a video regarding what to do if your slide get stuck. Here’s the link: th-cam.com/video/MjRYRTGe2eQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gHUBYKlOSYamUdwm
@SIGMECHANICS yeah its the worst things happend, i already seen your video before this, but i was thinking to remove forcesly the takedown lever inorder to remove the slide together with fcu and after that i will buy a another parts for takedown or machining the takedown lever to reused it. I appreciate your channel and it help me alot.
@toothlessmegalbio to do that you’d break the grip (the FCU sits within notches), there is no need to force anything on the 365, it can be done gently for the most part if you pay attention to the mechanics involved. Your situation sounds to me like either your guide rod was inserted wrong or you need to move the sear out of the way to just release the two parts from one another. I’d need to see it personally in order to really determine it though.
@@SIGMECHANICS i already removed the striker in the slide, about the rod they inserted it reversely, i also pull the rod to release its spring preasure, does the notches will be contact to the slide even there is no striker in it?, this is very challenging one.
Great video as always. You hear about more p320 accidental shootings? I guess one police department swap out their p320 for glocks. Might be a great time to get that p320 manual safety on the market 😉
I’ve heard a bit, Grayguns did a good amount of testing and did a write up on their findings. The 320 safety project actually recently launched! Here’s the link: th-cam.com/video/zemqe3gMqJs/w-d-xo.html
@@SIGMECHANICS hey buddy just checked into it. Looks like it’s not ready yet for a standard p320 grip module. My question is can I use a full sized X grip module with my standard 320 FCU?
Sent a message through the Sig Mech website but wanted to propose it here too. What are the chances you are willing to share or make available for purchase the 3D models you've made for these video presentations?
Hi! I got your message. Unfortunately I don’t share them with others because the files are very detailed and are technically manufacturing “ready”, so I don’t share them as I don’t know the legalities of supplying 2A part plans (which vary state to state).
Not really. Though I haven’t gone down the rabbit hole as to why it happens in the first place. Seems like if you pull too hard on the lever it dislodges the bar from its housing. (My opinion only)
@@SIGMECHANICSthanks man coz I am in debate on buying that or a P2000. I like to get XMacro, but there are some negatives I saw online, coz I will be letting go of my XD9 (California) so I want one that I can leave in my bugout bag for a very long time.
My 365x takedown lever will not even rotate all the way. Goes to maybe 4 o'clock. Been fighting that for a few days. Any known fix for that? I've built and modified alot of weapons and never saw an issue like this
Have you double checked that the guide rod is in place? You can always use pliers to pull the guide rod and compress the spring while rotating. Passed that, I’d start with removing the striker, removing the slide and seeing if the takedown bar is out of its place.
Update on the issue on my 365x. The bigger recoil spring had somehow came uncaptured and bent not allowing the slide to lock back this couldn't take it down. Finally got the takedown lever to rotate after taking out the fcg pin and playing with the guid rod a little. Took 1 coil out of the recoil spring and put back together. Works great now
Hello, hopefully you see this comment. I’m having this problem. Also my slide release is not working. Any ideas on why the slide release isn’t working?
@@SIGMECHANICSso I can’t get my slide off. The guide rod is sticking out probably 1/16” past my slide when I do the take down. My slide catch also is not working. It clicks going up and clicks going down but does not work. I’ve been messing with it for a few days but will probably just bring it to my local gunsmith today
just brought a new xmacro home today and pulled slide off, reinstalled not properly, and currently stuck. Since this is a new gun and seems to be a common issue, does Sig take it in on warranty or am I on my own?
Removing the slide should not give you this problem. Removing the FCU might cause this if you’re not familiar with the design. For example when you pull the FCU off the grip the pins can shift without you knowing and so it can accidentally become an issue that’s not a warranty related problem, but a user error, which isn’t entirely fair to say since you can’t reasonably expect everyone to know everything about the gun, especially when new. At the end of the day I don’t really have affiliation with Sig so as far as whether or not it’s a warranty thing,I don’t know the answer. I’d have to defer to Sig directly.
@@SIGMECHANICS I honestly watched a video of removal of of slide since first try didnt seem conventional but didnt watch install part. Removed slide, checked oiling, removed spring put spring back in, and reinstalled wrong Didnt feel like I forced anything but ...calling Sig to see what they say.
Have you attempted to remove the slide cap or follow the instructions on the video? If there is a misaligned or broken part in the FCU it could cause this problem. However, the first thing I would try would be to readjust your recoil rod to see if that is causing the problem you can take a set of needle nose, pliers, grip it from the front, pull it out and rotate a quarter turn to test, however if the recall rod is out of alignment, there will be a slight protrusion of the recoil rod from the muzzle end so check that first before you take Tools to your P365
I’m hoping that eventually Sig would one day ask me to work with them on this stuff… so long as I can still be critical of them when it’s right of course.
I can’t say it’s too common but I have had a few people tell me they had similar experiences. For the most part this method will apply to any issue that prevents the slide from releasing from the grip.
It happened today on my xmacro. The takedown safety lever was broken just like this video. I shoot about 200+ rounds per week, every week, and I’ve had the xmacro for over 75 weeks. So I’ve shot over 15,000 rounds through it, not including all the dry fire training. I put money on this happening to more people over the next 5-10 years.
@@Aldovargas87 i plan on replacing it every 5,000 rounds or so just to be safe. Even though I had the slide removal issue, it has never had a malfunction in all the rounds I’ve shot through it.
I just got a p365 (California model). I own many, many guns (pistols). I always wanted a Sig, but they were not available in Ca till just recently. I had to have one. I now do.... and I am NOT happy. WHY? : I find that the slide removal lever is nearly impossible to move. I have seen other comments about this, but no solution other than push it with 'a block'. And I am not a novice --- I have many other guns that work. This is BS. There HAS to be a clearance problem somewhere. Does anyone know?
The takedown lever seems to have a problem where if it comes out of place it can be difficult to put back in place. If you remove the FCU, you can manually adjust it so it goes back in place but it’s a bit of a pain. The P365 is the only model. I am a little bit more careful with disassembly. And I always hold the FCU in such a way that my thumb is compressing the takedown lever so it won’t pop out of place. Once it’s inside the grip, there’s generally no problem.
Bro, mine is really stuck and can’t get that sear to release. It’s like the slide lock release isn’t functioning properly. When the take down is at 6 o’clock I can squeeze the trigger and it fires. Also took off back plate and pulled out firing pin and plunger. Still can’t get it off. Any clues or tips? Thank you
This is low hanging fruit, but have you tried smacking it with a soft blow hammer? Also, try to use pliers to pull the recoil spring forward and rotate it, sometimes it can cause issues.
One other thing to mention, the takedown bar works and goes to the 6 o’clock position but when I pull the trigger the lever flips up back into the battery position. Not sure if that helps with diagnosis. Also I believe the slide catch is not installed properly as it fell out right before I reinstalled the slide. Thought I put it back in properly but after watching videos, I don’t think I did. I think that little wire spring is not positioned right and this is the root of the problem. Thank you.
Update got home and whacked it with a hammer and won’t budge that sucker is locked. Granted I whacked it in the direction the bullet flies. Is that the direction you were suggesting? Also pulled guide rod out with needle nose and all that did was snap the takedown lever back into the batter position (from 6 o’clock). Bout to send it back to sig. Unreal and frustrating
This just happened to me today. I took off the slide by locking the slide to the rear and then took off the back plate and removed the firing pin assembly and the slide came right off. I need to disassemble it more to determine the failure point though. Update: the takedown safety lever was in broken into two pieces. Must be a weakness. From now on, I’m going to replace that part every 5,000 rounds.
I am, I’ve been working on a project (launching soon), the channel will be expanding a bit in hopes that I can focus more on the content and making more videos.
I would have to see it to be sure, but you can try the following: If the rod is slightly sticking out of the slide, get a vise grip and grip the rod, pull it forward while manipulating the slide to disassemble.
@SIG MECHANICS I got it all apart ! Yay. I took the strike pin out the back plate and it all just popped off on its own . The takedown lever still want go back but I at least got it tore down . I can work on it more tomorrow Thank ypu for all the help man ! I subbed.
I solved the slide issue but thanks to your other videos, I almost had the entire gun tore apart and by some miracle put fsu parts that fell out back without tearing it 100% down. It's fully functional now. What a challenge even with the top notch videos.
I literally just bought my gun and I’m having a panic attack because my boyfriend told me not to mess with it and I did anyway, jammed my finger in the bullet thing and now I can’t fix it
@@SIGMECHANICSgod it literally took me an hour to get it. I just bought it and it’s my first ever hand gun. I own a shot gun and 2 rifles so I take down my stuff myself. But I tried what you said in the video and that didn’t work. So I messed it all up, had a quick cry, and the pin holding it to the grip got stuck. I managed to pull it out with a pair of pliers. But my take down lever would not slide back into place no matter what I did. It works when I take the whole barrel part off and I touch the slide catch it goes back into place. But when I put the barrel back on I wasn’t able to get it to go. I’m not sure how I fixed it but I fixed it. Sorry I’m just now reading your comment. If it happens again I’ll definitely be sending you a video. Also as a side note I have the ambidextrous manual safety on mine.
thanks for the information Thanks for the video, and especially for the explanation why the safety doesn't engage after a discharge or dry fire (I thought it was broken). Cheers.@@SIGMECHANICS
Tried but it didn’t work and now the trigger is broken some how . So sad , originally just slide wouldn’t come off but now I’ve really messed it up . If anyone knows how bad I screwed this up feel free to let me know
I wouldn’t worry about it too much, the likelihood that you actually broke something is very low. Although I can’t tell you why that is happening without seeing it feel free to email me some pictures or a video and I can try to figure it out for with you.
99 percent of the time this is due to the guide rod being improperly seated. You can always use a bit of leather and a plier to pull on the front of the guide rod and do a quarter turn.
Evidently when I put the fcu back in I dunno something I've tried every post every comment every option I can find nothing is working what should I do?!?!?!
It’s not an actual issue, in my case it was likely due to the number of time I disassembled the 365 for making content (a lot), but seeing how I was having the problem, I figured I’d make the video for others to use as a reference.
I’m sorry, instead of replying to you I got the wrong button and deleted my response and yours! Edit: to respond to the deleted comment… In that respect, I don’t think it’s possible unless they either substantially “beef up” the parts (which would be hard based on the small/compact size. Or maybe CNC parts. My personal thoughts would be that it is really hard to compare a work of art that is the 1911 to the P365 though. As much as I like the platform they’re just not built the same.
If you can’t get it to click down, it’s most likely just the tool not finding the right spot to engage the sear. Also, double check that the takedown in in the correct position. Last, it’s possible that after you disengage the sear from the striker you need to tap the back of the slide a bit to loosen it off.
Thank you for the advise ! I'll give it a go again tomorrow . This wouldn't have happened if my buddy didn't tear it down without asking lol . Granted, it's a good thing to know about them .
Just got a new p365 optic ready. Man is this thing rough. Mags impossible to load, trigger creepier than your weird uncle....... Where's this fine Sig machining everyone talks about?
I haven’t experienced that myself, but from what I have heard most people find there’s a break in period before everything adjusts “just right” Congrats on the new pistol, it’s really a fine piece of mechanics. I hope you get great use out of it. Good luck!
Do you mean that you can see the sear and striker are interacting but cannot make it go down or that you already dropped the sear but it won’t release the striker?
@Timmy Rankine any luck ... we having the same issue . SIG has always been so good. It's interesting they didn't make changes in testing with the guns so easily locked up . User error or not . I'm not a big smith and Wesson guy but my 4 year old can take that thing down and put it back lol .
Ive had the same issue. I have found that if it gets stuck like that, i flip my gun over and smack the top of slide on my hand and it will move the striker out of the way to slide off the rest of the way
That should not be happening, if you are able to drop the sear by hitting the gun it sounds like it’s not drop safe! Mind you, this video is to demonstrate what to do if you cannot drop the sear with the TDL, if it’s just a little snagged due to the safety lever being in the way or something, then that would be okay.

Yes, it’s possible. However, because the striker housing is made of plastic it is prone to being damaged with tools during removal. This is why I try to stay away from that process. As far as time goes, this video is long, so as to clearly demonstrate the process, in reality this takes about a minute or less.
Yes, that is my experience of course. I also disassemble the pistol a lot (comparatively to someone who casually cleans etc), I find that the newer (softer) housing, it ends up getting “chewed up” with tool insertion. The method I bring up here is not going to damage the grip (there’s not much stress at all on the grip) and closely resembles a method people are familiar with on the 320. But you are correct, both options work, it’s mostly preference.

Very educational and clearly instructional. Appreciated, sir!
Thank you!
Time for SIG to do a recall and replace the fire control units with ones that work and last.
Unsure why this happened but I detect any damage to the take down safety bar
With the sear in the up position I was not able to reassemble the slide to the grip module.
I'll not put my life behind this catastrophe for quite a while
I should mention the take down bar did this while firing...
I followed and i was able to field strip ,right after i topk the slide a piece of the takedown safety lever felt, it was broken right at the the tip of it, thank now i jus have to hunt down the part.
Very helpful to have knowledge of possible issues and their resolutions, thanks.
Outstanding video 👍👍💯
Great graphics. Have had the P365 over a yr and it only started happening recently.
Thank you, I accidentally initiated takedown with an empty mag in and couldn't figure out what the heck the problem was.
Oh thank you! You solved my problem!
Glad to help!
My slide got stuck one time and a good armor friend had to figure this out by messing around and it took a few days... It never happened again but if it does this should do the trick! Thanks
This happening to me now. I thought it was my Icarus girp module. Thank you for the video
Happy to help!
The 3D renderings were VERY helpful, thanks.
10 out of 10 ... thank you.
Good info haven't heard much about this issue though. Any symptoms before the part fails.
Got mine stuck when I installed slide on frame with no trigger or trigger bar.
I pulled the rear slide cover and striker pin. Slide came out.
That is one of the best ways to do that. If you watch a video I made about forgetting your takedown lever in the P320, the methods are pretty much the same (only the P365 FCU is harder to access the sear due to the FCU closed off construction).
This is how I took my slide off.
Can you do a video on the magazine disconnect on the CA p320? How it works, removal, how it differs from the standard version?
Just saw your apex on. Awesome 3d work and detail with everything!
I’d be happy to, can you send me a link where I can pick one up?
Excelente explicacion.
I have a problem where I can't turn the take down lever to the 6 o'clock position? Any tips or advice
If you can’t turn the lever, follow the instruction on the video to release the slide. Then inspect the internal parts to see if anything is out of place.
Was your issue ever resolved.
Outstanding work, thank you!
Thank you!
Great info, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks, left the recoil spring out while just playing around. Locked the slide to the frame. This save my ass.
Happens to the best of us, glad I could help.
I tried locking the slide open and removing the striker plate and striker.
Yes this works too, however since the housing is made of plastic, I try not to remove the striker often since tools damage it easily.
Arrgh!
It’s possible the TDL got dislodged and the bar is preventing movement. You’d need to follow the steps here in order to remove the slide and fix it.
I have an older P226 with the same issue. Would this method in the video work for that model?
The 226 is vastly different in design.
More great content. Thank you!
I have heard of a military application, but I haven’t seen it in action. If it exists it’s not something many people know about.
Fantastic video. How did you make the rendered animations for the video? I work doing troubleshooting and technical support for an aftermarket parts company, and being able to make animations like this would be amazing for helping our customers. Thanks!
I just use Fusion. It’s free and does the job well.
@@SIGMECHANICS thank you! I’ll check it out.
I was not able to lift the fcu in order to reinsert the retention pin. not sure why.
Did you fix this?
The Cali version will not fire without the magazine. This seems like less of a safety feature and more of a safety concern. Would you be able to do a video on how to delete this feature?
I’d love to, just need to get my hands on the cali FCU.
@@SIGMECHANICS Cool! I'll keep an eye out in case you do.
Thank you
I took out the the guts from the slide, and everything came apart very easy lock the slide back and take off the rear plate.
Did you make those cad files? Also, great videos.
I did create them! Thank you!!
So is the most common problem the takedown lever bar or some other issue?
There’s no particular issue, it just so happened that it broke on my 365 so I was able to make a video for others with the same problem.
Awesome video. Bet that saves shipping on many guns
Thanks for the video!
Where can I get the flat pick shown in the video? Absolutely amazing content. Especially the animated 3-D renderings. Thank you!
@@SIGMECHANICS Thanks for the prompt response. I will give a try.
Did you resolve it?
@SIGMECHANICS I did! Took a couple hours but I followed your video. Thanks for making this walk through. I didn't put the sear spring in correctly 😒
How do you put the safety bar back in place along with the takedown lever?
Do you mean the process for re-assembly?
@propblast82nd Ah I see, that process would need its own video, there’s a few tricks to making it easier but you can (with knowledge) minimize the need to disassemble much further.
What if you forgot to put the takedown lever bar back on before reassembly?🙃
Essentially that’s the issue I resolved in the video. If the TDL doesn’t work, then this will resolve the issue.
@@SIGMECHANICS same process if it has a manual safety?
Yes, just make sure to set the MS to “off” or the sear will not drop.
@@SIGMECHANICS man I wish this worked. Gonna have to take it to a smith. Thanks for the replies
Have you tried removing the striker from the back of the slide? It may help.
hi sir. im having a problem with p320 slide stuck with the lever installed in this case can you make a video the effective way to remove slide. the slide is very hard
Just lock the slide back and pop the back plate out and remove the striker
You absolutely can. In the video I actually am cutting a full size TXG grip. (It works with any FCU).
@@SIGMECHANICS awesome. Thanks for the confirmation and making this project happen.
My pleasure. It was fun to start this and then see the project end up as successful as it did. Lots more projects on the way!
Anyway to prevent this from happening?
Works great now
This video is so good I had to subscribe.
Glad to have earned it! Thanks for watching!!
Hello, hopefully you see this comment. I’m having this problem. Also my slide release is not working. Any ideas on why the slide release isn’t working?
That’s not much information to work off, but my first guess would be something’s wrong with the guide rod most likely it’s installed improperly.
@AlexBaus-g8s you can always try to pull the guide rod with pliers (use something to protect the metal), and give it a 1/4 turn. Release and test.
just brought a new xmacro home today and pulled slide off, reinstalled not properly, and currently stuck.
Just got a p365 and the take down lever won’t go down, I struggle to even get it beyond 3. Do you have any advice?
Have you attempted to remove the slide cap or follow the instructions on the video? If there is a misaligned or broken part in the FCU it could cause this problem.
However, the first thing I would try would be to readjust your recoil rod to see if that is causing the problem you can take a set of needle nose, pliers, grip it from the front, pull it out and rotate a quarter turn to test, however if the recall rod is out of alignment, there will be a slight protrusion of the recoil rod from the muzzle end so check that first before you take Tools to your P365
Mine broke off at the curve, i took it out and the gun still functions fine at least 2 mags worth. Is that normal?
No. That small return piece is what engages the sear leg, without it, it should not function at all!
Great content as usual
Thanks!
masterful
Sig should just pay you to make their DIY repair videos. Save money and the headaches. 😂😂😂
I’m hoping that eventually Sig would one day ask me to work with them on this stuff… so long as I can still be critical of them when it’s right of course.
What barrel is that!
That is a custom barrel by Barsto precision!
Great video thank you
What causes this failure and how common is it?
I can’t say it’s too common but I have had a few people tell me they had similar experiences. For the most part this method will apply to any issue that prevents the slide from releasing from the grip.
It happened today on my xmacro. The takedown safety lever was broken just like this video. I shoot about 200+ rounds per week, every week, and I’ve had the xmacro for over 75 weeks. So I’ve shot over 15,000 rounds through it, not including all the dry fire training. I put money on this happening to more people over the next 5-10 years.
@@Quantiples would it be a good idea to just replace the take down lever at a certain interval?
Thank you, Sig Mechanic! I’ve not tried the hammer or pliers but will give it a whirl when I get home! Appreciate the tricks. 🤞
@j rambo you ever male any progress ? Typically it is the back . Mines hung up now and the advise he gave you may work for mine .
What's that barrel
It’s a custom barrel from Barsto precision!
Very helpful thank you
What brand of barrel is that?
That is a custom barrel by Barsto Precision!
Your way is the best way to remove the slide . My take down lever was broken too. After about 100 shots . Must be a design flaw or bad parts.
Are you still doing this fantastic channel?
I am, I’ve been working on a project (launching soon), the channel will be expanding a bit in hopes that I can focus more on the content and making more videos.
What if I can’t lock the slide back? That’s my only problem. Because of that I can’t removed the slide or take down the gun.
You mean the slide lock won’t engage the slide?
@@SIGMECHANICS no it won’t. The slide can’t go back far enough for the slide lock to go up into the notch on the slide.
Could very well be your recoil rod assembly. If you can grab it from the muzzle end, pull it and rotate 1/4 turn it may solve your problem.
@@SIGMECHANICS aha! I got it! Thanks man! Much appreciated!
@spartanwarmc3288 fantastic! Glad to hear it.
Okay, I think my recoil spring is backwards . I didnt do it, my gun expert friend did lol. Dont get me started . How can I fix this .
I subbed.
Glad to hear you solved it, and I’m glad to have you on board!!
I solved the slide issue but thanks to your other videos, I almost had the entire gun tore apart and by some miracle put fsu parts that fell out back without tearing it 100% down. It's fully functional now. What a challenge even with the top notch videos.
That barrel is wild.
Thanks! It was a gift from my good friend Irv over at Barsto!! I have them on my P320s as well.
Where Frm ?
I literally just bought my gun and I’m having a panic attack because my boyfriend told me not to mess with it and I did anyway, jammed my finger in the bullet thing and now I can’t fix it
I’m not exactly sure what you mean, but I can try to help if you send me a video of the problem. Sigmechanics@gmail.com
Are your 3d models publicly available?
Hello, unfortunately they’re not available publicly.
Isn’t the problem actually with the sear sting foot slipping.
In this particular video the problem was the bar breaking physically.
what kind of barrel is this?
Barsto Precision, this one is custom but they make standard barrels too.
thanks for the information
Thanks for the video, and especially for the explanation why the safety doesn't engage after a discharge or dry fire (I thought it was broken). Cheers.@@SIGMECHANICS
Argggg Sig
Tried but it didn’t work and now the trigger is broken some how .
So sad , originally just slide wouldn’t come off but now I’ve really messed it up .
If anyone knows how bad I screwed this up feel free to let me know
I wouldn’t worry about it too much, the likelihood that you actually broke something is very low. Although I can’t tell you why that is happening without seeing it feel free to email me some pictures or a video and I can try to figure it out for with you.
Take down lever won't go down so this wont work what do I do it's going in the trash I guess I.... I'm about done
99 percent of the time this is due to the guide rod being improperly seated. You can always use a bit of leather and a plier to pull on the front of the guide rod and do a quarter turn.
I turned it nothing
@@SIGMECHANICSthat didn't work
Evidently when I put the fcu back in I dunno something I've tried every post every comment every option I can find nothing is working what should I do?!?!?!
@mattcarolina send me some pics and video if you can (sigmechanics@gmail.com)
If this is an issue why doesn’t Sig correct it ???
It’s not an actual issue, in my case it was likely due to the number of time I disassembled the 365 for making content (a lot), but seeing how I was having the problem, I figured I’d make the video for others to use as a reference.
I’m sorry, instead of replying to you I got the wrong button and deleted my response and yours!
Edit: to respond to the deleted comment…
In that respect, I don’t think it’s possible unless they either substantially “beef up” the parts (which would be hard based on the small/compact size. Or maybe CNC parts.
My personal thoughts would be that it is really hard to compare a work of art that is the 1911 to the P365 though. As much as I like the platform they’re just not built the same.
@@SIGMECHANICS Thanks , I’m actually considering either the P365X or the Tac Ops version soon
I can't get the click on the micro but I don't trust I'm doing it right at all.
I can get the screw driver in the right spot . It just want give, I'm afraid it's in a worse bind that these .
Just got a new p365 optic ready.
Man is this thing rough. Mags impossible to load, trigger creepier than your weird uncle.......
Where's this fine Sig machining everyone talks about?
I haven’t experienced that myself, but from what I have heard most people find there’s a break in period before everything adjusts “just right”
Congrats on the new pistol, it’s really a fine piece of mechanics. I hope you get great use out of it. Good luck!
I can't get the sire to click
Do you mean that you can see the sear and striker are interacting but cannot make it go down or that you already dropped the sear but it won’t release the striker?
@@SIGMECHANICS yes, it does make the mechanic click.
It may be possible that your guide rod is out of place, Or, sometimes a few hits with a soft blow hammer will release it.
@@SIGMECHANICS I will try that, thanks
@Timmy Rankine any luck ... we having the same issue . SIG has always been so good. It's interesting they didn't make changes in testing with the guns so easily locked up . User error or not . I'm not a big smith and Wesson guy but my 4 year old can take that thing down and put it back lol .
Ive had the same issue. I have found that if it gets stuck like that, i flip my gun over and smack the top of slide on my hand and it will move the striker out of the way to slide off the rest of the way
That should not be happening, if you are able to drop the sear by hitting the gun it sounds like it’s not drop safe!
Mind you, this video is to demonstrate what to do if you cannot drop the sear with the TDL, if it’s just a little snagged due to the safety lever being in the way or something, then that would be okay.
what if the takedown lever will NOT move...gun runs great....i had just put the MCARBO trigger and spring kit in the gun....True Precision threaded barrel with Herrington Arms Comp....Holosun 507k....gun still runs fine and shoots great....however i cannot take the slide off because the takedown lever is impossible to move....i have had multiple gun shops try to rotate the trigger and no one can....it moves to about 5 o'clock and just will not go any further....to the point where you hurt your hand if you try.....has ANYONE had this problem....my last resort is to send it to back to SIG, but they might not work on it because of all the aftermarket parts.....IF ANYONE can help me PLEASE PLEASE reach out....i loved the gun before but i have severely lost faith in it now and i have been treating it like a paperweight
Send me an email, let’s take a look together: sigmechanics@gmail.com
@@SIGMECHANICS Man! you have no idea how rad that would be! I will email you now.
@@RoccoGarufihi - was your issue ever resolved? I switched the grip to the WC grip module. Gun runs great except cannot remove the slide. The TD lever is tension loaded and wont go down past 4-5 o’clock…
@@SuperTap007 Yeah i finally got it fixed. But i was willing to break someshit to do it.....luckily nothing did break....but i cant remember exactly how i did it...i just remember locking the slide back and shoving something between the module prying it away from the FCU......in the end i had a spring or something installed backwards...that was the problem.....i was to the point i was going to cut my cerakoted WC grip off the FCU with a small saw i was so pissed....but my $0.02 for you is to take out the rear FCU pin,,,,,then pry the module away from it....shove something in there so you can get the module pried as far away from FCU sop you can see inside to see if anything is obviously keeping the takedown pin from rotating.....eventually you will figure out what it was and waht it will take to get the takedown lever to spin....it was a bitch and it took forever...but finally in the end i got it...THEN I SOLD IT....I cant memebr if it was this channel or another SIg Guy channel...but that guy helped me out alot.....its been so long i cant remember exaclty....hope it wouks out for you ...i almost sold mine for pennys because i couldnt get it apart.
@@RoccoGarufi thanks for the reply! I will check it out!
Love the video, subscribe
Seems like a little bit of work,. You could just rack the slide back and remove the striker and striker block completely.
Yes, it’s possible. However, because the striker housing is made of plastic it is prone to being damaged with tools during removal. This is why I try to stay away from that process.
As far as time goes, this video is long, so as to clearly demonstrate the process, in reality this takes about a minute or less.
@@SIGMECHANICS Yet you're prying the FCU out of the frame? That little plastic piece is not going to get damaged, but to each their own.
Bro thank you jesus fuck this gun blows meat
You’re welcome! What happened? I’m guessing you’re not having a great experience with it.
More solid info once again… A man crush may be starting… Not gay, just attracted to intelligence! 😂
Ha! Thanks?
Haha. Best comment ever . His skills are smooth as a MILFs freshly shaved legs .
DO NOT EVER REMOVE THE TRIGGER HOUSING BECAUSE THERE MAY BE LOOSE PARTS !
Can you share the particular problem you’ve had in the past?
@@SIGMECHANICS my sig 365 in 380 slide i took off the grip frame to clean, when i tried to put it back on the slide refused, it was being stopped....i then did something stupid, i removed the trigger housing and in doing so i rendered the take down lever to spin free because the safety lever fell out...I later learned i did not need to remove the trigger housing to solve this problem....i tried in vain to fit the safety lever back but could not....I took the weapon back to wear i purchased it and they were able to correct my problem...i will never remove that trigger housing again....i was successful in installing the manual safety but i. could not figure out this problem, The dealer solved my problem......i have since found the cause and remedy to solve the problem of a slide refusing to fit properly back on the grip frame....I did not have to remove the trigger housing to solve my problem.....What i learned is the safety lever that is fitted to the take down lever is not securely fitted, so to avoid any more loose parts from falling off i will never again remove the trigger housing....What caused my problem was two fold, my fault and a very bad design for the trigger housing parts to remain securely fitted to the trigger housing.......
