Great job making this video. Great instructions for anyone doing this themselves. You really should torque those inner control arm bushes at ride height as they add spring rate preloaded at full suspension extension and will raise the car slightly. Life of the rubber bushes will also be reduced as they are twisted more. This can be done when you do the wheel alignment as it will be at ride height and easily accessible from under the car. Thanks for the video anyway.
We appreciate the added insight! Ethan is getting an alignment today and is seeing if they’ll torque them correctly, or we’ll re-torque soon when we adjust ride height. Benefits of filming our modifications… thousands of extra eyes to see what we missed 👀👍🏼🫡
Nicely done video. And you captured some of the ‘mistakes’ that can be made, so that will help people better plan their work. As a few others have mentioned, the suspension bolts need to be tightened with the suspension under load. One way to do that, corner by corner, is to jack the corner until the full corner weight is lifted, and that corner just starts to rise off the jackstand. Then, tighten the bushing bolts and lower shock bolt. Repeat for each corner.
Is it safe to jack it by the wheel mount directly until load is reached, or does in need to be via the tire? Sure would be a lot easier to reach everything the first way...
first off; great run through on installing coilovers. 👍 Plus though I've ended up a Honda guy, almost by mistake, I have huge respect/envy towards Mazda guys. This is the second MeisterR vid that's come up in my feed this week for some reason. Though I _was_ discussing them with a mate of mine a week ago.. The feckers are scanning our brains!! 😲😅 As I commented on the other vid: I fitted a set of these(pretty much the same 'road use' spec as yours) to my car(98 JDM Integra Type R) well over ten years ago, not long after the company started iirc, and after 140,000 kms/65+k miles in all weathers and over all sorts of roads, as it's my daily driver, I can report the damned things are still going strong. Very little corrosion either. I know and have known a fair few folks in the tuner dept. in my time, and that's very impressive for coilovers. Value for money isn't in it. Also, I don't know what it's like these days, but the lad who started the company in the UK(JarrickJerrick?) was very active on the various car forums(remember them..) at the time, and always very open and very quick to respond to questions and give advice. Sound bloke.
I was happy to see this video pop up! Loved seeing you guys doing car stuff again, I feel like you two should start some kind of show where you hang out and talk car stuff or drive around or keep doing mods or something more! Cheers!
Definitely get the extensions. I use them very regularly according to my mood, where I'm driving or who I'm driving with. And yes, sways help even significantly more. Totally worth it.
@1stCMWARTIME I did coilovers 1st and waited til I found a deal on RX8 sways later. The coilovers did reduce sway more than I expected. I would definitely recommend sways if you're upgrading tires, and if money isn't really an object, get them regardless, imo.
Thanks for the video. I am not the most mechanically inclined person but I can follow direction. This video inspired me and then I found the @MiataChannel version and realized I can do this. I had both videos up and just went through step by step. I did this solo and it took me some time but overall it was not that difficult. I decided I would be ok with MeisterR Sportives for my 2016 NC. I made a good choice for my needs. The difference is amazing.
Watching your videos is expensive! 😂 Have you ridden in a NC with mod street sway bars? It would be great to learn how that elimination of body roll compares with these coil overs. Lowering 1/2-1” probably means a lot to cornering? The harshness of the ride comparison is a question as well. Thanks for your videos!
Have these on my 25th along with Racing Beat ARB'S and il Motorsports adjustable droplinks, the car is like a go cart, its brilliant, cant recommend Meisters enough
I have a Sony XAV-AX5000, another video on the channel! Ethan has a Kenwood in his red miata I believe. Both CarPlay! They're great. I like my Sony with its capacitive touchscreen.
The Fox coils that FM sell are AMAZING and I considered them BUT they are $2400 and the MeisterRs were $1200 and with so many other mods I want to do, I couldn't justify it being twice the cost.
Great video! You can also drill the centers of your strut tower brace to gain access to the knobs. Thats what I did so i can easily make adjustments. After I drilled, I just painted black the portion that was drilled and it looks pretty clean.
Higher price can typically result in slightly better comfort in daily driving. But I found these to be the sweet spot for price vs. function. However, I would love to upgrade eventually! Suspension doesn’t last forever…
I heard the steering feel and response is A LOT better with Meisters vs stock or even Ohlins, which damp better but are numb. Is that your impression? Also, how is the club version. It's not that much more expensive and if it rides decently on the street and gives that same front end feel, I might go for that!
HELP...... I've decided to go with H&R street performance coilovers. Will be dropping car about 1.25" all around. Do I need to change out the sway bar end links since I'm lowering the car? Did you? any issues??? Thanks for your help.
all the Miata forums on the internet say you need to torque the a-arm bolts with the weight of the car on the suspension or it can end up twisting the a - arm bushings... you didn't do that...do you see that as an issue or is it a lot of noise for nothing....
I would look for shops that people trust in your area. I would probably not go to a Mazda dealer. For example, here in northern Colorado, there’s a few shops that work on performance and/or import cars who I would trust. I’ve found them through local forums, groups, even Facebook!
I went with the Clubsport versions of the same coilovers. I think they're identical but run slightly different spring rates and a lower initial ride height. However I don't feel a need to do sway bars as a result. The last thing I need is any more roll stiffness as it would come at the compromise of grip. I'd only really look at sway bars if i was moving to racing slicks instead, but then you start seriously stressing out the rest of the car. As for the adjustment extenders, I got the boot ones and for the front, i just drilled holes in the existing stock strut brace, it works fine.
Meister R are really good and cheap, this is because they aren't type aprooved, i.e. thats why they say they are for off-road use only!! So your insurance is actually null and void in the event of an accident on the highway. So beware!!
I am so happy with these! Easily the best bang for the buck mod you can do on the NC. Thanks again for having me over and helping out with them!
Great Vid, will def be following suit with these. What head unit are you running in your NC?
@@SirNulljaeger I have a Kenwood DMX4707S in it
I agree, they really changed my car for the better. BTW, thanks for the shout out!
Yeah I am THRILLED with them!
I love seeing before and afters like this. Plus it's just a nice feeling when you help a friend out!

Thanks for the torque specs, my man! Installing them right now!
sweet, my 2015 club has about 60K , so I'm due for new shocks and will probably get those coil overs , thxs

Yeah I will probably have to do those !
Did you add sway bars first and test alone? Trying to decide it I should do both. Definitely want to reduce body roll while having nice ride in town

@@1stCMWARTIME I should add that yes, I feel like I can go a smidge softer with the adjustable dampeners thanks to the stiffer sways 👌🏼
Great video. However, I’m concerned that y’all have twisted UCA bushings, given that you torqued those bolts w/car off ground.
I mssged Jordan, they are going to get that fixed soon

I do like the lowered stance, but I won't throw shade on a stock height mx5. Its a good look stock as well.
Excellent! Thanks for posting! Great content here and at Zeke’s Miata Channel!
I agree it's the best mod for an NC. Love mine.
What a great video. Definitely getting this done at some point

Outstanding job!
What brand of rotors did you use & brake pads?
I did a video on the brakes recently! Link in that description, as I can’t quite remember. But they’re all from Moss Miata.

I would have replaced the upper control arm bushings up front since it was unbolted.
I was expecting you to go with flyin miata, but meisters are excellent for the NC as well

Without a doubt, your next project should be good sway bars. They make a huge difference.
I always wondered about these. Heard great things about them but how do they compete with the higher end coilovers like ohlins?
Higher price can typically result in slightly better comfort in daily driving. But I found these to be the sweet spot for price vs. function. However, I would love to upgrade eventually! Suspension doesn’t last forever…
Put a set on my ND1 and they outperform my abilities. I liked them so much I bought the Club Race version for my NA

I put H&R shocks and bars on my 2012 and I got similar results. I hated the 4x4 look and that is gone.
I bought fox suspension for my ND and there is way less body roll.
At what cost ?

It’s not noise, it’s essential.
Not a bad coilover (it vastly improve my NC's behavior), but not as good as expected when the road become bumpy ... 14-14.5/20 for me.
Had my NC for 5 years now and still scared to do this myself! Nice vid quality dude keep it up
You should! It has completely changed the feel of the car!
If a MIata owner can't or doesn't want to install these himself, who do you go to and get the work done? The dealer?
