I have an XL 925 that is in super condition. My dad give it to me 30+ years ago because he couldn't keep it running. All it was was the screen in the carb because the filter i the tank come loose somehow. I completely went through the carb a few years back but never really used it until yesterday. It may have 25 hours on it at best. Put fuel in it and fired it up to trim some branches in the front yard. Talk about overkill for some 3-4" branches but it was fun to wake up the neighborhood with it's roar at 9am on a Saturday! It's heavy and a beast for this 57 y.o. but I'll keep it forever. Thanks to my dad...🙂
That saw is a real workhorse and looks like a torque monster the way it eats right through that log. I noticed it likes the hi-end mixture just a touch rich to make max power. Great video, Smitty!
So crazy! I’d never seen one then last week my uncle brings one over for me to tune up for him. Then you post this video! Crazy world sometimes. He bought it brand new back in the day! He’s in his 80’s and can’t start it( bad shoulder and such). May try to buy it !!!
I would like to own it!! Maybe after we get through the 4th. It's gonna be rough this year. I'm missing a week of work for rain right now which is crazy in June, and the mill is shutting down for almost 2 weeks for the 4th. Gonna be a rough stretch on the pocket book. The bad thing about being a logger is that your income is always at its lowest at Christmas and the 4th of July, when everyone else is living it up is when I'm broke😢😢😂😂
I have a few, they're torque monsters; I picked up two off of Craigslist. Just keep your eyes peeled, be prepared to travel and you'll no doubt have to tinker with it. My experience with buying the old Homelites are they are usually pretty caked up in years of oily dust. It's nice when you get her cleaned and running. Something about that metallic ping when she's idling. Good luck.

Great running and cutting old saw. The saws that are in the 70 to 80cc range will do almost any job. If I only had a couple of saws, one would be a small top handle saw, and the other would be something in the 70 to 80cc range. Luckily for both of us, we have a bunch of saws for every reason and every season ! YEAH !!!!
