At Electrifying.com we’ve driven and tested hundreds of electric cars. But the question we get asked the most is…. What cars do we spend our own hard earned cash on?
We drive every new car that comes on to the market to help you make your choice. But that’s not all, we can say with confidence that we’re the electric car experts, because we choose, buy and run our own - just like you.
We know how much they cost to run, because we have to pay for it. We take them for MoTs. We wait at broken chargers and spend long enough with them that we even work out what the buttons do. Mostly.
And, for the first time, we’ve assembled all our cars in the same place at the same, so we can say what we love - and hate about the cars we actually own.
If you own the same models and agree or disagree with our verdicts, please let us know in the comments below

On the I-Pace, the speed camera warning beeps are connected to the SatNav voice guidance volume. So if you start navigating a route and turn the volume down whilst the SatNav lady is talking to you, as well as turning down your guidance volume, it will also turn down the camera beeps. If you’re really quick you can also do it when it’s beeping, but it’s much easier to do it when she’s telling you what your next turn will be as you have a bigger time window in which to do it.

Bit disappointed that you concentrated only the things the owner didn’t like on the IONIQ 5. No mention of the driving, comfort, etc, whereas you mentioned several of the positive points on all the other cars. I know you don’t particularly like the IONIQ 5 (that came across in your review of it), but at least try to be balanced in your reviews when you do these comparisons.

I totally agree about your seemingly negative attitude regarding the Ioniq 5. There are plenty of good reasons it won both the World Car of the Year 2022 and World EV of the Year 2022. I own an AWD version and my wife and I both love it. We think it's the best car we've ever owned and I've been driving over 50 years(!) so have driven and owned many different vehicles.
Regarding the lack of a rear wiper, try spraying the rear screen with a ceramic coating, such as those made by Turtle Wax. It won't be as good as a rear wiper but it'll certainly help displace the water and it's one more item that doesn't need to be replaced!

    • @ChrisdyMD

@@GeoffBee1 - totally agree with your comments. I have had my IONIQ 5 AWD LR P45 version for 10 months and also think it’s the best car I have ever owned. I had the whole car ceramic coated, including the windows, and it makes a huge difference. I rarely have a problem seeing out the rear window, although snow would still be an issue without a rear wiper.

Since May I own an EV6 77,4 kWh AWD and I made one of my best car decisions, after owning many Mercedes, BMW 5-Series and also a Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4. On Highways (120 + 5 Max.) and on Mountain routes I consume 14,8 to 16,8 kWh. I also once considered an iPace, but fortunately my car dealer has booth Brands under his roof. Actually KIA is beating even a Model Y. Drivetrain is perfectly balaced, and after Mercedes-AMG and Maserati, it‘s the third car that uses a high-tech Suspension coming close to the iPace I also had for one week. Don‘t forget that Alfred Biermann - after leading BMW M Sports for 30 years - was the responsible. On the other side I did even not need the 585 HP GT, I have enough power with measured 333 HP and 608 nM. 0-100 km/h in 5,2 seconds keeps track with EQE and iPace. So the KIA is the leader in all classes in a long distance rating by P3 and ADAC, with for the first time ever rating index of 1.03; an EQS next positionned but top class got index 0.92 and the iX xDrive50 0.91, same as the 2021 Ioniq 5. Than comes Porsche Taycan GTS - also with 800 Volts-architecture - and 0.90. Also the Kia charges at an average of 203 from SoC 10-80%, while Jaguar forgot any updates so far. Imagine that a Tesla M3 LR charges only with an average of 146 kW. And against any Jaguar I make 100 Km more in distance. I also can tow 1600 Kg, even EQE/EQS have only possibly 750 kg on the hook. Not enough for my horses. 😜😎✌️By the way EV-Supercar builder and now owner of Bugatti, Mate Rimac, Porsche and Hyundai Group sit in the same boat so to say. So forget about prejudices you might have, Kia is the new Audi and actually the best deal you can get, and you will have no problems at your country or golf club for sure!

Can't get a Peugeot here. I had a LEAF for 6 years and loved it. I've now had a Model 3 for 4 years and enjoy it, but to be brutally honest, it's losing its charm for me. Some of that tech was fun at first; now I rarely use all those whiz-bang, unnecessary features, and would just as soon still have my LEAF -but with the Model 3's range. I'm now seriously thinking of moving to a Hyundai Ioniq 5. I love that car, despite a few quirks (like not having a rear window wiper). Unfortunately, it is practically impossible to find a Limited edition here: way too much demand for it with very little supply.

Well built car and lovely to drive. Tesla may have gimmicks but as a car manufacturer I really believe they have dropped the ball. By the time my car arrives I may want to order something better. Once Tesla has your money, they genuinely give zeros - I still don't have an accurate EDD. As a customer you genuinely feel like just a number. First car...I've had one from 2013 to 2021 as short range second car. Never had a tyre problem or fast degradation on the tyres. fast charging only once. I do not know what is wrong on that 2015 model. or the rest I do agree with this story. (But I do not find it very efficient when compared to the hyundai ioniq electric 28 KWH (model 2017,premium with heat pump, the car which is replacing my leaf). And also I do agree that it is very cheap in maintenacnce. In those 8 years only once changed the tyres (after 70000 km...the same distance I made with tyres on ICE cars).and had to replace the type 2 charging cable (broken).
The story about the ioniq 5 is extremely short....I've bought this model one year ago (delivered july 2021 , model project 45.)
It's our long range car which charges so fast that this month during holiday travel the car was at any toilet/coffee stop charged enough for the next stint (>80%) before we were ready to go (using 350KW chargers). Driving through Germany and Poland with 130 km/h we did not lose much time on average compared with driving with our previous ICE cars at the same distance. Only extra planning....making the stops where chargers are available.
(I never tried nor had the cars to do so to travel with speeds from 180 km/h)
Bothering...It's beeping to much....even when we are leaving somewhere in the night...can awake neighbours.
Hyundai should lower (or disable) the beepings when the car is not driving especially in the night.
(The other cars in this video I do not know from inside.
But during waiting on our ioniq I had a konAE64 with me. It's extremely well designed but not that suitable for a family...lack of room backseats (for bigger children) and not much for luggage. I'm told that the technical near the same Kia Niro has a little more space.

I have the Nissan EV app. 2015 24kWh Leaf purchased 4 months ago. I can switch on the climate control, check mileage and start charging from my phone. I did call Nissan as at first the App was registered to the previous owner. Not sure if it’s based on location as I believe the car needs 3G.

The brake pedal on the Model 3 is welded like that so it deforms in a crash and doesn't break your leg. It's a safety feature.
Something that's missing in this car. Watch the video from 1:04 and you'll see they have to use a hydraulic lift to remove the crash test dummy WITHOUT one leg!

Can you experts explain the battery capacity in series / parallel. Volts, amps, watts current draw, efficiency per mile or do you just make big claims with a bad accent.

    • @mondotv4216
      @mondotv4216 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I don’t think this review was about that stuff? Range, charging speed and efficiency are the important things from an ownership perspective (and of course driving characteristics and reliability) - not volts, amps, series/parallel etc - no one cares about the internal construction of the battery. Technically, I’m interested but this was an ownership review not a technical deep dive. What big claims? And why the bad accent quip?

Just need to correct you I drive a Nissan Leaf 24kw myself. Is one of the most inefficient ev on the road you don’t 4 kw per mile if your lucky you may get 60 miles on a charge I get 45 miles. Take it from me repair costs are huge had to buy secondhand parts from Japan. Only buy if your commute is 20 miles max in the winter the range drops.
