Okay, you sitting behind yourself sells me on this car. I'm also 6'6", but I don't like big cars; if I fits, I sits! Bring it to the U.S., Hyundai, PLEASE!
@@doyourownresearch7297As a gay person, you made me laugh 😂
@@doyourownresearch7297 sounds more like a cat
I don't even own a car because I live in a bicycling city that's a bit like Berlin or New York and have public transport where the clocks keep time in seconds, not minutes that lets me take my bicycle onboard, even my LWB cargo bike, but I want this car. The first crushing car love since I was a snotty teen 50 years ago.
Great motto 😂😆
God, I wish we got this in the US. Im tired of these $60k+ cars…
We actually need those big pickup trucks to make people believe we don't need Viagra.
Same!
But it will be 55K in the US. Just because…
@@robertn2951 So Pfizer and Ford are direct competitors?
@@alko_xo Because it's almost chinese and not made in the Murica!
This looks like everything the Honda E could have been if Honda had given it a big enough battery for 200 mile range and not priced it over £35k
I thought the same thing. Take notes Honda!
I literally clicked on the video thinking it’s the successor to the Honda E
This is the car that every manufacturer should have started their EV journey with! Amazing!
Not true, money whealth and tech almost allways trickles down
too small for big people.
Bring it to the USA, Hyundai!
They can't do that without making it a 5-meter long "crossover."
@@parasharkchari we can get the Fiat 500e why not.
Agreed!
And Canada! Formerly the land of even the $10K Nissan Micra which sold gangbusters in our crowded cities! All 6 of 'em! ;-)
They didn't get the Honda E so I doubt they'll get this one. Not big enough for America unfortunately
This K pop car is going to win the segment the Honda E missed out on...
It reminds me a lot of the Honda Jazz I owned (and loved) 15 years ago. Same little, lovable energy with the internal space of a Tardis.
The Honda E is absolutely better than this. But it's also ungodly expensive for what you get.
That is the problem with the E
You mean Fake Honda.
@@0LuiSSousa0 it's also not in production anymore. That's another problem with the Honda e.
@@0LuiSSousa0 better in what way? This has more space, more range, and is much more affordable.
Have been waiting for 10 years to have affordable small EV´s in sight.
This is the first new EV in ages that hasn't been heavily heavily trailed for months or years, and instead just appears as a finished product in a video like this, ready to go in under 12 months. Love to see it. I'm sure that the arrival of this, the 5, the eC3 and the Spring is going to open up a new market segment for EVs, and it can't happen fast enough
This is my most favourite car to come out in the past 5 years by far
Love how it's packaged. It beats all of its competitors for me. I trust Hyundai's EV tech over the others too.
@@LCOFI’m honestly just happy they’ve made a petrol engine too!
me too... thing is this is the third car I have seen this year that makes me say "best yet...", so I figure I need to wait a little longer till the trend of manufacturers outdoing one another runs out...
Essentials for me are large feeling inside, proper buttons not touch screen, and ~200mile range when not using heater; with A/C & heat pump a desirable extra: and then for me it is mainly on price.
What a boring choice of a favourite car.
I would rather have the Kia EV2 than this box
Oh wow. I don't think I have ever seen a car tick so many boxes so easily. It is almost like they looked around at useful cars like the C3 picasso and squeezed that mentality into a small car. This is going to sell a ton.
Boxes ticked...lithium mined by kids, need for 15 apps, huge waits to charge, need to only use between 20 and 80 percent charge, high insurance, high tyre wear, problematic battery disposal, finding a working public charger, planning journeys you'd usually just go on in a petrol car and finding a mechanic to work on it. Also, it's worthless as soon as the battery warranty expires.
@@Easty-ug5qo Why are you here?
@@Easty-ug5qo petrol extracted with bribes and destruction of local environment and society. big chances of something going wrong, a lot of components which will wear out. worthless after 200k Km, must redo entire sections of the engine.
smelly, high taxes and restricted areas over time.
can't power any appliance, just good from moving from a to b with shit comfort.
should i go on?
@@Easty-ug5qo cry more
Heat pump as standard.... yeah, that needs to translate across all EVs. We love to see it!
Seriously, are any other $20k+ vehicles coming without AC? No? Yeah, no. A heat pump is trivially more expensive and makes so much more sense. Good on you Hyundai.
Now stop cowering in fear of US gas company giants and bring it here.
New Bolt has a heat pump, faster charging, and a battery that won't blow up. They do listen sometimes. .
The Euros always get all of the good EVs. Literally, I just want a small cheap EV in the US.
Why you want EV car in the first place🤡? Saving planet?😂😂😂
@@nelinjo maybe and they're less expensive to operate lol
@J-wm4ss Let me know when electricity goes up and every 🤡 gets a EV.
You're right Jack, it definitely gives Kei car vibes. I can't get over the space you had in the back either. Also, physical buttons for the stuff you use the most whilst driving 😮👏👏
Hello Watch Man, is there any chance you can ID the watch that Jack is wearing?
@@fluresentIt's really difficult to get a good look at it that isn't really blurry. But I'm thinking something like a Seiko Dolce or Citizen AR1133-40A.
I love small, inexpensive, cute, cars. Oh my dog! This thing actually has buttons so I won't be battling a touch screen when I want to change climate settings on the freeway! This thing is Jack friendly front and rear? I'm 2-3 inches shorter than Jack so this should be comfortable for me. This is the kind of small car I love! I hope we get this in the United States!!!
One criticism of the video, could you please display the metric equivalent of the stats. Most of the world uses metric.
Must of been a mistake they usually do.
3.8m long, 1.61m wide and 1.6m high, I have read elsewhere. The 1.61m width is really important for me because I own an absurdly narrow garage and it will fit.
Looks like Jack was going for Steve Buscemi "How do you do, fellow kids" look at the start 😂
Well done Hyundai
I wish we could get quality, practical, inexpensive EVs like this in the USA!
Write to hyundai you will get it like hindustan south, thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Europe etc. Instead of garb gm etc.
Such a car already exists. It's called Cybertruck. Open your eyes man.

Isn’t Tesla bringing out a low cost car 😂😂😂😂
The USA wants a truck and huge engine!
@@joey-pn3xe not everyone 😖
One of Jack's best reviews ever! I share his enthusiasm for a truly compact, cool, little EV. Lets hope the price point stays lowish!
Front charging port ease of charging at any station ever is why I absolutely adore my 2023 Kia Soul EV. So glad they kept selling it in Canada!
This not coming to the US is a crime. That thing is amazing and at $25K or so it would sell like CRAZY considering how cute and practical it is. VW Bug for a new age right there!
lol thats the point. Only sell massive vehicles in the US to get around emissions regulations and have an excuse to sell vehicles for 40K more.
@@silvy7394 blame your politicians (of both parties). While foreign manufacturers are limited to importing a quota of cars, of course they are going to try to import the more expensive ones.
And the way the US exempts SUVs from many of the environmental regulations is postively criminal.
@@silvy7394the former doesn't even matter with these anymore which only leaves the latters. Car companies will continue to use the "small cars don't sell" excuse because the reality is "small cars make less profit" so they will continue to try and force people into big ones. It's ridiculous.
Since when are Americans buying small cars
You don't even get VW Golf there
Some Americans might suggest that bringing foreign made cars into the US is a crime in itself.
They're trying to improve their economy, which is fair enough ... all countries are trying to do that, despite local opposition we've seen recently in certain countries.
Ref the price of the cars then we should not forget the tariffs thing.
Probably best to point the finger at China for overproduction, huge government subsidies, and then dumping their products anywhere they can find a large enough compound in which to park them for almost two years.
Would such a stored car be consider "new" or last year's model?
Would customers expect a huge discount on an "old" car.
Would there be degradation to the batteries if stored for so long with a small charge in the cells?
It would appear from sales figures (in UK) that very few car buyers are that keen to find out.
It may be that car buyers aren't that "green" (in more than one sense) and fossil fuel cars will do perfectly well.
Fossil fuel cars built locally (Europe, say) so spares aren't an issue.
Or being burned alive when the door locks fail to operate, as happens in certain battery EVs.
Outside appearance is adorable for a city car. The angle on those rear seats seems to allow long legs. Physical buttons! Yes! If I lived in a city and never planned on leaving, this seems like a great BEV option.
they can be tilted backwards too!
The interior is amazing, I love it. I had a first version Scion xB which was the most spacious and truly comfortable car I ever owned. But the exterior of this car is just butt ugly. Sorry...
This strikes me as the kind of car that people will buy for local use, then quickly figure out that it’s going to work great for long distance once in a while too. Long wheel base, spacious cabin… Fast charging not the same hassle it used to be. I went long distance in my 40 kWh Leaf with shit range, shit charging speed years ago. It was doable but not fun if you’re not on vacation. This will be heaps better.
It's got 220 mile range, so about 3 1/2 hours. Might be annoying if you regularly drive very long distances, but for most (?) people taking a break every 3 hours on occassional long drives is fine, I think?
@@pooroldpedro Yup. I would absolutely take it on many road trips. And if it's a really long distance, those 15-30 minute breaks are necessary (and pleasant).
Wow wow wow! What an amazing vehicle. The space …….. IKEA ready ……. Jack friendly ……. Flexible like a bendy toy!
Superb presentation from THE BEST presenter. Loads of information delivered in a clear concise way. Yup; that is the first ev for me.
Hyundai shows again that it’s one of the most creative and imaginative car brands today. Bravo 👏🏽
I’d say that’s the most interesting EV yet.
From the first day I saw a Casper (cutest car since the original mini, I reckon), I've wondered why they didn't make an electric version. This video has made me so happy. I have been saying for a couple of years, if the Casper was electric, it would go straight to #1 on my list of cars to buy for my wife next. And here it is!
I love the light coloured interior. Don't know why everything at the cheaper end of the market seems to be a uniform black. The light colour makes the already remarkable space seem even bigger. AND it has a sunroof too.
Love the panel with the big chunky buttons. The word I would use is "retro", because to my taste being able to operate the kit by touch should never be outdated.
I know others have said it, but please bring it the USA! -and the houndstooth seats too please!
Amazing! As a former owner of a Hyundai Atos Prime, I can see my children learning to drive in this car, and beyond!
I'm glad they've separated the indicators from the headlights. Always find it difficult to see indicators when they are right up against the headlights or around them.
At 11:15, I fully agree, Vehicule-to-Load (V2L) sockets inside the car should be a standard feature of any EV : it makes so much sense !!!
I wish there would be one at the back, where there is USB-C plugs for passengers, and one in the boot, with an option to let an extension cord go through the middle of the boot (with boot nearly fully closed).
Also bi-directionnal charging Vehicule-to-Home (V2H) / Vehicule-to-Building (V2B)through AC should also be a native functionality of any EV as it would mean that the car could both be used as a back-up generator for a house, and store peak solar panels production during the day, and re-use the electricity at night : it so obvious as it would both allow to save extra money on electricity bills and be helpful in case of black-outs due to storm,… !!!
Yet in Europe, and especially in France, there is no EV with both V2L and V2H (The Renault 5 should have been the 1st one, but at this time, there seems not to be anymore project to integrate V2H 😢😢😢).
I would love this in the USA
Then let Hyundai US know!
Living in Korea, I've been looking forward to seeing this on the road. However, they've done even better than I expected!
My new favourite EV!
Nice big windscreens for easy driving, and nothing really un-necessary. They have this right, and I hope it spurs similarly useful small EVs from other makers as well.
Best wishes from George
The bench seat, to escape some of the ludicrously tight carpark spaces we have in the UK, is great. That alone starts to make it a model to consider.
I know you're not a fan of charging points at the back, but there's many a driveway people are obliged to reverse into when living on a main road. (And historically, most people have refuelled their cars at the rear.)
I look forward to you taking it for a spin.
Cars reversing out of driveways are also a serious hazard to pedestrians, so the front charging port isn’t ideal. The Audi Q8 (rather more expensive than this, of course) has AC ports on both sides, so perhaps the Inster could have one at each end. But I suspect it’s more about packaging: in such a small car, the front is where there’s space for it.
Totally Instergrammable
Nailed it!
This is exactly what I've been waiting for. I hope it comes to the states.
I love evrything from this, not big outside and decent battery plus the interior seems so practical and no glossy plastic on sight
Finally a car that can again fit long objects: folding passenger seat. I really don't understand this is not standard on every car by now. It was one of the main reasons MPVs where so successful. Add a adjustable back seat row... It is a modern small MPV!! Imagine if this was even build on an EV specific platform it could even be better then it already is! This is for sure going to replace our second car!! If it was able to tow a trailer it would even be able to replace both cars.
Those colours are a little challenging, but it seems to be the best thought out of this years cheaper EVs.
Fantastic effort at an affordable fun EV.
Fantastic! Hyundai/Kia are really kicking it up a notch.
I am in love with this! THIS is THE step to the right direction for EVs!
I like the folding seats.
Nice car! Nice and compact, head room, full folding seats, heat pump! Buttons beats touch screen for cars every time
V2L is mandatory in my opinion.
With a 49kwh battery, it's definitely a car to get! Long range, economical, smart, compact for city driving, roomy{-ish} interior, it's great! 🤓
I personally think the 42kWh is enough, especially if it's LFP, which I assume. But your requirements may vary.
@@4203105 At least Wikipedia lists NMC in the specification, but it's information without a reference.
@@Dqtube if they are hitting the price point of an e-C3, which they said they would, I very much doubt it will have NMC, considering they have about the same battery size.
There also isn't any reason to chose NMC for such a small car with such a small battery. Still not sure why Renault thought it was a good idea.
I couldn't find any information on any articles, so I assume whoever put that on Wikipedia just made it up.
But we'll see. Maybe I'm wrong.
@@4203105it’s exactly because it’s a small car with a near 50kWh battery that means it’s likely to be NMC. High capacity in a small package.
@@4203105but LFPs are larger and heavier, which add cost in their own way
As the owner of a 2024 huundai kona N line s EV (AND 6 FT 5" tall) the space in the cabin is genuinely a game changer and the buttons are the reason we bought the kona.
love the back seat segment that is a lot of room 😀
I owned a 2012 Chevy Spark , the Matiz as its called in South Korea so I'm no stranger to small Korean made cars, I would definitely think of buying one of these, The EV version of course, I have had my fill of working on and dealing with ICE vehicles.
I hope they bring it to North America but there is a move towards sub compact SUV's and Hybrids.
The tool you use to remove those panels is a coin.
Regarding the array of buttons, that is a huge improvement over touchscreens hiding functions under layers of menus. You don't need to be swiping and peeking to set the radio while on the road.
Bingo! Cars should have a driving mode like airplane mode where all distracting services are automatically turned off including your phone. "Sorry ____ can't come to the phone right now, they are busy driving! Please leave a message!"
Panel removal tool available at any bank, cost only a few pennies, and full money back after use.
What's a coin?
PLA+ comically large stubby screwdriver coming to a 3D printer near you
You control the radio by the buttons on the streering wheel. No need to swipe any screen.
We need this in the USA!
Man, I just bought my car with a manual transition (license reasons) and there is suddenly this flood of small EV cars coming from everywhere, I hope I can suppress my need to buy this for half a decade 😂
This car looks fantastic and I'm already in love.
🤩 What a fantastic, adorable, charming, and practical car as a daily! Please, Hyundai, bring this to the U.S. - they will sell quickly if it the price is right aka less than $30k. Fine, $35 tops.
Absolutely Brilliant. WHEN CAN I BUY IT.
Love the car and the fun way the video was filmed and edited. Well done Jack and the team
Well I'm sold, Hyundai have made the perfect car that ticks every box for me. Small, practical, looks good and has physical buttons for climate control. Definitely gonna buy this if the price is actually what they say it will be.
This is such a funky little car. This is going to sell so well in the UK! I have a Kona Electric and it's amazing. This Inster is so cool compared the other cheap dross available.
Only the new electric Fiat Panda is in the same league design wise.
Hopefully someday we will get this in the states.
I’m in love with this car. Just what I want and I need. I can’t stop replaying the video.
I like the fold down front passenger seat. Great feature that so few cars have.
This is the true successor to the Fiat Panda.
Of all the compact EVs that have been reviewed so far, this Inster is my fav. I particularly like the way the 4 seats (including the driver seat) can be folded flat. Very versatile. I hope it will be priced competitively against the many budget chinese EVs. It has the potentials to sell well even in Australia as most people drives less than 100 km a day at max.
OMG, this is compact EV has ticked off almost all my wishlist items for a compact EV. If it is similar priced or even cheaper than the eC3 and possibly closer priced to the Dacia EV its basically game over for the current compact EV segment. Hyumdai actually did it! Very surprised. Exterior design looks good and fun. Front looks like a cross between a mini kia soul and a honda EV, back looks like a mini version of the ioniq, cute. I think if they could have designed a slightly better looking roof without roofrails (more efficient, less drag), the roof would have been perfect. Large windows, great, it seems small blindspots in the back, great visibility. 4 camera's (front, back, side mirrors?), nice. Great interior space, even in the back seat, yes! Sliding seats, amazing! Finally attention of the rear interior. I think all compact EVs should have sliding back seats to choose between more leg space vs more boot space. Flush collapsible seats, heavenly amazing! V2L and heat pump as standard, wow! 42 Kwh for 217 miles range good. I do think compact EVs shoud strive for all season all weather range guarantee of 181 miles between 20-80 % capacity at 110 km/hr as standard. I think that would be an acceptable range performance for a compact EV. If the Imster EV also has adaptive cruise control, lane assist and pedal regen system my mind would be blown fir this EV. Maybe a front boot for cable storage and hey presto a complete package in a compact EV. Seats look look great, Fine interior design with lots of room apparently.
I think with these specs alone I can cross of the eC3, fiat 500e, fiat 600e, honda ev (although I also like this front interior), mitsubishi imev, byd compact ev, even possibly the upcoming volkswagen ID2all of my wishlist. Wow, best surprise of 2024 to date.
OMG!!!!!!! JACK! You are working on pronouncing Hyundai correctly!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
…I’m a little bit in love.
me too 😍
what a wonderful little vehicle
I think Jack likes this one lol. Great looking car, can't wait to see it in the flesh. This could be the car we have all been waiting for.
Expected price in South Korea would be $22,000~$26,000 without any subsidy. If we get subsidy price will be down to $15,000~$19,000. What a reasonable tiny car
I'm going to phone my local Hyundai tomorrow to register my interest for when they get a demonstrator. I've been saying for ages "as soon as a suzuki ignis sized EV with the clever seats comes out I'm going to have to get one".... here we are.
Just what I’ve been waiting for in the UK, just need to see the specs and pricing before abandoning my little ICE car.
Hope you love the switch to EV driving. It's much more relaxing and fun!
I want one! Can't wait to hear about pricing and availability in Canada.
I know right? I hope it comes here. I doubt it but I hope! I'd buy one ASAP!
Thank you for the car review. I was looking for details about this car and thanks to you, I can see the whole car.
Excellent, good to see this, thanks
Hyundai are ON A ROLL. This looks insanely good - my one wish is a little more oomph for in the city. My Gen 1 LEAF feels a little slow with similar power. But I'm being a little picky here, it looks insane.
We Love Jack!
Great presentation as always. Great car!
This is really all I need in a car, size-wise. There's two of us, sometimes I need to move a chest of drawers, sometimes I need to drive my parents to the doctor, and this is exactly what I need. However, please, please, please, make a performance version (
I own a Kona EV, my 3rd Hyundai so far, but this thing is so right! Every car needs sliding rear bench! Small one especially. Great product! Hyundai, make IX20 electric! Best ICE car ever!
If old ladies drive them would they be InsterGrans 😂
I live in Korea, and I've loved these cars from first sight. They are so cute. haha
They are mostly gas, some hybrids. I have never seen an electric one yet. Great to see, and great review as usual.
Great to see an efficient, spacious little box on wheels, it's what people actually need especially in urban areas.
Non of this SUV crossover coupe/fastback bollocks.
Being K car dimensions where little 600cc petrol engines are the norm the bonnet is shallow maximising inside space. We should be promoting these awesome little nuggets as much as possible. To start with no tariffs should apply, no VED, basic cars = cheaper parts and lower insurance premiums, smaller batteries = lower purchase price & more people out of ICE vehicles. This car is a winner all round. 👍🏼
From the Hyundai site, I'm Looking forward to this - "An additional variant, called INSTER CROSS, will join the INSTER family in the future, featuring a more rugged, outdoor-focused design. Further details will be announced at a later date."
This car is so cute I might give up my Scion iq for it. I want this interior and this color. Please bring it to the USA, Hyundai, and let us have the cool interior and some great exterior colors instead of silver and gray!
To be honest, this car is thrilled me much more than the new G90 M5
Like the idea of fold-down front seats. The problem with most small cars is you can’t get long items in on the one occasion each year when you need to - and that one occasion can be important. How nice to be able to run a genuinely small car all year and still have that practicality.
It's like a modern Nissan Cube. So small, but so spacious
In the UK it is going to be launched as the "Mr. Bean Wagon, LE (Luxury Edition)."
I too instantly made the connection with Mr Bean upon seeing this 😅
I'm pretty much in love with this car as I'm with the smaller Nissan Sakura. Come on, start spreading them all over the world!
Can't get enough Jack, brilliant intro!
I can't remember the last time ive seen a car where you can see over the hood. Thats crazy. The bumper is lower than his chest!
This is what we call a "car," not a crossover. Unless you want to call a mini cooper an SUV. 🤣
So, just like the Kia Soul, it’ll be a hit with the over 50 crowd.
Yep, that's my demographic and it ticks all my boxes
I was thinking that my kids might be interested -- small, fairly cheap, lots of room inside, decent range -- not as pretty as a 500e but much more practical
JACK!! Can I just say, you’re the absolute best reviewer. You make me want cars I would never otherwise consider. Just wow. Good on you mate!
👏👏👏👏 great design and super practical
About 4.4 miles per kWh average for such a small car? I'd expect higher but it is great we're getting cheaper options which no doubt would be great picks in a second hand market
Probably impacted by the high roofline (meaning bigger frontal area/aero drag, etc)
Ooo looks. The Suzuki Ignis and the Nissan Juke had a love child in a battery factory.
😄Suzuki was mu first thought!
with a bit of Fiat 500X thrown in
Glad to see smol cars being featured, we need more of these.
As a die hard ICE car enthusiast, I would actually love to chuck this around town. THIS is so cool!!!!!
This is a terrific looking car with great practical features and beautiful design. The Inster shares some of the same thoughtful qualities of the 2018 Honda Fit that I presently drive. I think Honda, Chevrolet, Ford, and other brands made a big mistake shutting down compact models like the Fit. There are many Americans who love to drive small cars and I think the Hyundai Inster would transform the current EV market if this car was offered in the USA. Bring it here for 2025 and I'll order one now!
Bring it to the US and take my money !
So brilliant to see this type of vehicle going to be available soon. Hope that it’s really good value. We so need such a great looking and practical car at a great price. Super walk around Jack!
Nice Practical vehicle. I can see me driving something like this when I retire, when my long road trip days are over.
