A lot of people focus on Les because he is so amazing and it's true. Having someone who plays, moves and sings like that at the same time is legendary. But Larry's guitar fits so well and I rarely saw someone who can actually cover his work correctly. His playing is very amazing.
@ptrLeGrand Yes, i have heard him a lot of times (because i'm a huge fan of Primus, regardless their line up). I think you didn't grasp my point. Brain play the drums with a different concept of Herb, that was the one who originally played the song, I just think that Brain interpreted the song from his own style, so the song sounds fresh, with a new carisma. Only a subjective assessment. Nothing against Herb, who is one of my favorites.
les claypool is just perfect to make this kindda music.. soo fuckin creative.. i love it... his voice goes amazingly with his bass playing.. u gotta love it!!
@nutboy56 Heh. As someone who saw them many many times back in the Suck on This days, they wouldn't even come back for an encore unless we screamed "YOU SUCK" for five minutes or so. It was all part of the schtick back in the day.
actually (and I'm no expert here) but I read an interview where Les had been involved in a diving accident sometime around this time and his hearing in his right ear was damaged, so his preference obv would be to be stage right so as to keep his good ear to the band...it's pretty rare to see him on stage left these days..he's either right or center now..pretty much. Hope this clears up some stuff haha
Awesome stuff. Great improvisation. This song has changed nicely since "Suck on This". There is so much to like about Primus, but you cant get the camera off Les for too long. Primus Suck!!
anyone know which exact show this was? their versions of Kalamazoo and Tommy the Cat that night are incredible - they were on fire that night. i'd love to get an an audio version of this show.
Primus has to re-release this as a DVD. I know it's not Herb...but who cares? It's still awesome. Actually, Tweekers (with Buckethead) is the best track on the videocassette but the only post on youtube of that vid was done by some numb nuts who couldn't synch up his audio and video.
I gotta disagree about the drummers, I love brain, I really do, but his style is almost too tight, like I think he was the perfect drummer for my least favorite primus phase, however I will say what he does in Praxis and 2C3B is incredible.

Very true in general, but Todd Huth wrote guitar for this track!
Many languages, and you decide spoke with truth jajajaja
@@Tomversal Todd Huth is goat.
Everything in this song just fits.
2:29 hell yeah, I like violent Primus xD
And nice solo by Larry there!
One of their best... a hell of a groove after 3:36
My Day!!!
one of the best primus songs ever. ya feel me?
This version is so perfect...
This song really showcases just how talent Primus is.
I have watched this 100s of times since Videoplasty came out and still love it.
4:34 is so great, Les is just totally chillin'
My favorite Primus song
That's from a home video they made, called Videoplasty.
Fukn'aye that was awesome! I miss those early days....
Este tema es brutal! Esta version en directo en epsecial! Se sale!
Love this look on Les.
My favorite Les look is the Brown Album Era. Slicked back hair. Goatee. Preppy cool.
just look up brian mantia on youtube and he talks about the differences between him and herb
Fred Durst On Drums
Love them are hate them there's no one else like them enjoy
I love this live recorded version way more than on the Hallucinogenetics dvd.
Damn...Sweet post! One of the most underrated Primus songs out there. Nice quality clip to boot...thanks man.
Mandatory listening every February 2

@nutboy56

them chex they do satisfy...
I WAS HERE!

Best version, by far.
Hail Videoplasty.
2:53 My favorite
nope brain even said the he focuses on groove while herb does technique
I'll Agree with That
Awesome stuff. Great improvisation. This song has changed nicely since "Suck on This". There is so much to like about Primus, but you cant get the camera off Les for too long.
Primus Suck!!
Oh, of course! Herb are great, no doubt!
@onerighteousdude421 According to Wikipedia, the show was in Petaluma, California.
Oxnard Montalvo the town I live in... I wish I lived here when they performed at the Phoenix...
Shoutout Petaluma!!
anyone know which exact show this was? their versions of Kalamazoo and Tommy the Cat that night are incredible - they were on fire that night. i'd love to get an an audio version of this show.
fucking sick
The Mighty Thor Has a Hammer
The Mightier Claypool Has A Bass Guitar?
LOL!! I got ya. Sometimes playin' funk means layin' back on the beat hence the term "sloppy".
damn, i love larrys solo at 3:40 :)
Inappropriate slow pan / missed directorial opportunity 2:23 to 2:32
awesome footage, i love larry's hair as well. do you know what era this was?
The 90s, I believe
@nutboy56
Primus won't even come onstage unless the crowd yells "Primus Sucks" a whole lot.
Brain is the best
Was that Chris Kattan playing guitar
what show's this from? sick as!
Primus has to re-release this as a DVD. I know it's not Herb...but who cares? It's still awesome. Actually, Tweekers (with Buckethead) is the best track on the videocassette but the only post on youtube of that vid was done by some numb nuts who couldn't synch up his audio and video.
@rippingstyle Les said in a recent interview that the whole Primus sucks thing is the one thing that keeps him from doing Primus.
i fuckign sng, too.
I see brain has added more equipment, kewl! He is cool isn't he?
I've seen Les play from the other side of the stage. I assume that is due to the drummer's preference...
Herb is da man.
yeah, I guess.
no he still kept in time. it just sounded different than the song.
brain is cool.
This song isn't the same without Herb.
Brain does a pretty good job
What kind of guitar does herb have?
does anybody know when/where this show was?
hes ok
brain focuses more on groove
herb focuses on technique
What concert is this?
Different styles... on Frizzle Fry, Herb was right on.. And I do believe this song is not that good without him.
Brain is funkier.
so god damn good, brain and les are like glue with ler being the paper
PRIMUS SUCKS
brain is fuckin tight. i always liked him better than herb. bring it on haters.
Jack458111 You're dead on! Brain was perfect for them. They rocked more with him than any other.
Who is the drummer?
Brian brain mantia
4:30 to 4:42 just made me get off a little bit.
talented* never post while stoned.....
thats brain in the video fyi
sloppy = funky :)
Brain
Have you eard Herb doin' it? Brain is good, but nothing comparatively to da man.
i loved this show, but i hated Larry's hair!
I gotta disagree about the drummers, I love brain, I really do, but his style is almost too tight, like I think he was the perfect drummer for my least favorite primus phase, however I will say what he does in Praxis and 2C3B is incredible.
Here speaks something far from hater, my thoughts are on the same path too, I just love Brain, and he's way better than Herb in my opinion.
brain is a good backup for a drummer but herb is way better. brain is too sloppy
Anyone who thinks Primus sucks is just jealous they don't have the skill to play any Primus songs.
aids
PRIMUS SUCKS
primus sucks
