FUCK I LOVE THAT INTRO LES PLAYING THE NOTES OF SUSPENSE, LER JUST WOBBLING HIS STRINGS, AND THEN THE LIGHTS ON QUE WHEN BRAIN HITS HIS DRUMS IT'S SO FUCKING AMAZING
Fish on! I once met Les and asked him if he wanted to go fishing. He responded," I've got places to go & people to see". I'd like to think if he didn't have a show the next night, he would've been down. & I would've showed him that even the fish are bigger in Texas. Primus sucks!
gotta be my favorite primus song. that guitar line is so freaking sweet. larry lalonde is the man, but i'm pretty sure todd huth came up with that part.
Yup, Todd created most of the guitar parts on the Frizzle Fry album, but from what I've read, Ler tweaked and modified them when it came time to record the album, so he made a lot of them his own.
wow! I cant help but crack up on the bus while listening to some Primus tracks for the first time just getting into these guys some amazing stuff for sure.
primus really is amazing, the music is fantastic but also their lyrics are crazy, which i think not too many people notice because their mind is being blown by the instrumental genius of the band, but all their songs sound like they dont mean anything, but if u sit there and think about it they have deeep meaning.. blew my mind
Yup, took me years to actually really listen to the lyrics. Yes, they are actually good and WAY above average for somewhat well-known bands. And I love the way Les paints the overall story of his world; the dystopian comedy of 1980s and 1990s N.E. Bay Area....pretty accurate, I remember it
The sound of the songs does change, as does the pacing and speed and whatnot, but the awesomeness stays in tact! ..and yes, I've seen Primus live three times in my day. Fucking awesome.
He also teamed up with Guns n' Roses keyboardist Melissa Reese to make a music composing duo called Brain & Melissa. They've composed music for various films and video games, such as Power/Rangers and InFamous: Second Son.
its so funny when somebody never heard primus to see their faces and the best part is when you tell them its just 3 guys! because they all think its like a 5 piece band =)
I feel like bands where the bass stands out, people who don't know them always think it's a 5 or 6 person band. Idk how many times I've heard people who never heard of Primus, & especially Rush, & were shocked when they found out it was 3 people.
Man. I love Brain. He's possibly my favourite drummer ever. You've got me so wrong here. I was taking the piss out of the previous cretin that slagged off brain. I thought that was obvious. Ah, well.
I saw them live 3 times and Les solo once. So funny when they were playing the early stuff that some college kids near me had NO IDEA what they were playing (Burlington, VT). Way to semi-know the band! (rolling eyes)
Dude, The Claypool Lennon Delirium is so fuckin good! "Monolith of Phobos" and "South of Reality" are both amazing albums. They also have a covers album called "Lime and Limpid Green" that's super good too.
I'll say it again seeing as so many people seem to not recognise sarcasm...Man. I love Brain. He's possibly my favourite drummer ever. You've got me so wrong here. I was taking the piss out of the previous cretin that slagged off brain. I thought that was obvious. Ah, well.
to @ messageof ...Baby noone can play like Claypol does on the bass, this guy was born to do it, and thats it (I love and play bass too), but really forget trying to play like him, you only get frustration...HE IS DEVIL with bass....But keep on rocking...!
Brain is your answer to why they don't perform the 'YYZ' intro with 'To Defy'? Uh, I've seen Primus live, and Brain played the YYZ intro with John the Fisherman, but I've NEVER seen them do it with 'To Defy' even though that is how it is packaged in their greatest hits thing 'They Can't All Be Zingers.'
@scroobly I've been playing for 7 years and I still have a hard time coming up with stuff like what he does (given that I'm still playing on my first bass, a Mexican Fender Jazz with terrible action) Then again, I mostly use a pick, and only started slap, pop, rake, and finger style about a year ago
I personally think Brain is better at the drums. But Tim is just a cooler cat. But brain is just more for Primus. It'd be cool to have both on stage and have a drum off haha. But Brain did a 20 min solo when i saw them live and that convinced me

Hell yeah dude!
HELL YEAH DUDE
FUCK YEAH DUDE HOLY SHIT
fuck yes
I can definitely picture Les fishing with a random fan just for the love of fishing
This is the best Primus song they ever made. No joke. The fucking flow is incredible.
This is the best sounding version of this song I have found so far.
Was just thinking the same thing - How great to actually hear Les!!
Got to be my fave primus song
Drums etc
It's a tie between Laws/Tradition and Professor Nutbutter for me
Brain jams so hard to this song, love his take on the percussive sound for Primus!
Les is simply a bass GOD! >;)
And starting a new tour...
Cory Eskelsen
Is that right...hmm, I have never had the pleasure of seeing him live. I must look into that! (Scratch one off the bucket list.)
He's no John Entwistle
And primes still sucks
Les Based God.
gotta be my favorite primus song. that guitar line is so freaking sweet. larry lalonde is the man, but i'm pretty sure todd huth came up with that part.
todd huth did alot of riffs for many song’s. Including john the fisherman and prollz many more
I believe ler created it, but i could be wrong.
Yes, Todd did write that part. There’s live recordings of it from 1987.
One of their great forgotten classics!!!
yes greatest funk imo❤
God the bass slapping and drums work so well together, along with the psychedelic guitar fills 🤌
primus really is amazing, the music is fantastic but also their lyrics are crazy, which i think not too many people notice because their mind is being blown by the instrumental genius of the band, but all their songs sound like they dont mean anything, but if u sit there and think about it they have deeep meaning..

i want a whammy bar on my bass like les has sometimes!
i need one
look on amazon you can pick some up for cheap
Kahler bass tremolo
primus , by far is , the m0st awesome band to see in concert !!
A 3 piece band with less playing bass they sound like 5 or 6 piece band. One of a kind!
Larry Lalonde is the reason I picked up the guitar at age 12.
Primus sucks. =D
Primus sucks !
Nice, mate. Larry is such an underrated guitar player, he deserves a bit more attention
@@BurnedZero Todd Huth is more overated since he wrote the guitar parts to all the early songs years before Larry was in the band.
Les Claypool Is the reason why i play guitar!!!?!!!!?.........weird......😂😂😂❤
Seven churches @@BurnedZero
I forget how badass Brain was with Primus! I wonder what he's up to these days?
DFM Bass har har

He also teamed up with Guns n' Roses keyboardist Melissa Reese to make a music composing duo called Brain & Melissa. They've composed music for various films and video games, such as Power/Rangers and InFamous: Second Son.
He plays with bucket a lot
Brain was awesome. Saw them live with Brain...he was ridiculously amazing.
Primus. The best. Greetings for all from Monterrey, México.
The cameraman seems to always be on the wrong band member at the wrong time >.
Exactly dude...
Ugh ikr I bet it’s the same jerk who did this when filming Tool…
Totally on point
primus , by far is , the m0st awesome band to see in concert !!c
LaLonde, è: il chitarrista! Mitici PRIMUS.
I made my bandmates nuts with this video.
Damn, they are good live!
its so funny when somebody never heard primus to see their faces and the best part is when you tell them its just 3 guys! because they all think its like a 5 piece band =)
It's even funnier when someone says "Primus Sucks", and another person will get really offended thinking they are insulting the band.
Amen
I feel like bands where the bass stands out, people who don't know them always think it's a 5 or 6 person band. Idk how many times I've heard people who never heard of Primus, & especially Rush, & were shocked when they found out it was 3 people.
@@worthlessburger7 John Entwistle could sound like a whole band on bass and an orchestra
yup… Les is basically 2 people in 1 ripping through that bass while singing.
Two weeks away Primus kicks off the 2010 tour and Iam at show number 1 TORONTO CANADA PRIMUSVILLE!!!
He's using a Carl Thompson bass with the Kahler Tremolo if I am not mistaken.
OMFG!!! 5:08 everyone stops.......SUPPOSE THE TAXMAN HE COMES TO TOWNNNNN....its not over!!! KEEP MOSHIN!! hahahah funniest thing ive seen this week
best bassist ever!! PERIOD!!!
Man. I love Brain. He's possibly my favourite drummer ever. You've got me so wrong here. I was taking the piss out of the previous cretin that slagged off brain. I thought that was obvious. Ah, well.
I cant wait to see them live thursday
Ler is my hero
fantastic man!! god i love this song, i also love how les's bass sounds like a warwick :)
Every time I have seen them it feels as good as the first time. One of the most technical perfect bands out there.
wth is this character at the beginning!!? really fun!
one of the greatest bass performance ever!
almost twenty years later and still..... wow
Tim Alexander also had his own side project band called "Laundry". INCREDIBLE band. Look them up.
Les is awesome
I saw them live 3 times and Les solo once. So funny when they were playing the early stuff that some college kids near me had NO IDEA what they were playing (Burlington, VT). Way to semi-know the band! (rolling eyes)
this song is cool I like Les he is a genius
Brain’s drumming on this goes hard
I really like the tone of his bass in this video for some reason.
The hard part of being Primus, not many will cover your material... Because they simply cannot.
this is beyond great ... this is progress ... from very deep insde
Now I'm buying this.
I think I got addicted to this song :°D
i love this song
Tim is my favourite for Primus.
Que grande boss dos bosses!!
I can die now that I have seen them live
Sometimes, Ler looks like Flea
that's because they both play the guitar and they both dye their hair crazy colors
og this song....especially when im stoned, makes so fucking happy :D
Prepare for PAIN!
I don't remember Ler ever having short hair. Was I too high or something?
don't do drugs, kids
Pedro Souza
Listen to Pedro, kids. Just stick to weed, and you'll be fine.
He had short hair in the late 90's. He grew it out again in the 2000's.
This is how I learned bass
Yes Defy The Laws Of Tradition!!!
gooooosebumps!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAhhhhh!
hahah yea! same here. les claypools music got me into smoking weeed and then mushrooms and lsd and all the other pshycedelics
I remember buying my first Primus album in 1991. They still suck. Now he's knocking at the gates of delirium with Lennon. Hahaha!
Dude, The Claypool Lennon Delirium is so fuckin good! "Monolith of Phobos" and "South of Reality" are both amazing albums. They also have a covers album called "Lime and Limpid Green" that's super good too.
You gotta admit though. His STSOC style was fucking great.
ler's guitar playing at 5:40
They sure some talented SOB’s
4:17 best YEAAAAHHHH ever.
#carrythebeat
Aguante drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander!
@Primus
Keep The Beat Alive!!!!

Just Seen Them In Portland! Fucking Sweet!
wow!
BADASS!

Have you heard Tim play Shake Hands With Beef? That, equally only belongs to Brain.
It seems fun to be in the crowd... life a giant washing machine on tumble.
Hit me with that snare boi
That was actually my friend who replied to you before as i left myself logged in. It often happens. Sorry for that. I agree. Peace.
Me to. I'm talkin about the wierd braids thing he had goin on. It was amazing.
Petaluma,Ca December '98 Brown Album Tour
I remember the first I saw primus high off acid and it was in red rocks to and for Colorado natives y’all know shit gets down in red rocks haha
@scroobly i play bass for 10 yrs and sometimes LC give me headache :-)
While it's certainly not true of other Primus songs, Brain plays this song better than any other Primus drummer.
brain be bangin it.
beat me to it
the psychadelica is strong with this one
A lot of amazing music coming from a 3 piece band
The child? Ooooorr the store?
Brain is your answer to why they don't perform the 'YYZ' intro with 'To Defy'? I just wanna see Claypool's hands ffs.
Les Claypool is my fuckin bass idol!!! :)
great lyrics but in my experience there's a fine line between bravery and stupidity!
Why don't they ever do the YYZ drum intro for this?...
@scroobly
I've been playing for 7 years and I still have a hard time coming up with stuff like what he does (given that I'm still playing on my first bass, a Mexican Fender Jazz with terrible action)
Then again, I mostly use a pick, and only started slap, pop, rake, and finger style about a year ago
Who cares if he does drugs? He's a rock star!
(And an amazing bassist! :D)

Lers riffs are sick
THATS MAH BOI BRAIN! fo shoo!

amen to that!
heh, i wonder why :)

Where are the rest of the songs from videoplasty?
I personally think Brain is better at the drums. But Tim is just a cooler cat. But brain is just more for Primus. It'd be cool to have both on stage and have a drum off haha. But Brain did a 20 min solo when i saw them live and that convinced me
