Many consider their run from Beggar’s Banquet to Exile to be the pinnacle but theirs something about Some Girls that still sounds hip today. The Stones were able to mix rock, punk, new wave, country and disco without losing their edge well into their existence.
Don't see how this song didn't chart. Some Girls is my favorite album (surprisingly) by this band for the amount of memories I've had with it.... My favorite album period by how many times i've played this in the middle of the night full blast with my headphones. This entire album was a way of showing they are still a band that is alive and will still kick ass. Love this band.
Seen them at Pontiac stadium in Michigan in the 70s slept in my car with another guy for 3 days to get a good seat. Back in those days it was open seating. Seen them in 2021. TAMPA Florida still great. But no charlie.
Remember it well..."Respectable", "Shattered", and "When the Whip Comes Down"...ALL on the "Some Girls" album. Terrific record. And you're right: they did address the emerging punk rock wave with this stuff. Loved it..."Beast of Burden" and "Miss You" were favs of mine as well. Hitting the playlist with this one.

Watts is underestimated because he's such a chill person. I love the story about how Mick was drunk one night and kept calling Charlie "my drummer". So Charlie put on a suit, went over to Mick's hotel room, punched him once and said "you're my singer". He then went back to his hotel room, took off his suit and went to sleep. Legend!
