I have a friend in So Cal. Jeff, and he met Lemmy once. He told Lemmy that he was his hero, and Lemmy told him nah, be your own hero. Then he asked him what he did for a living, and Jeff told him he installed alarm systems. Lemmy then said" Jeff, when a family is saved from having their home robbed, who are they going to thank? Not me, be your own hero. Jeff was almost ready to quit that job, but Lemmy gave him the kick in the ass to climb the company ladder, until he became part owner of the company. Wise words from Lemmy, a all round great guy.

My father was a great fan of Lemmy and Motörhead’ , met him once I believe , and in his own way lived the similar life style , but not in a band ha ha , when he talked of him I never got it ! But now I do ! And live the band and what he stood for in this sometimes crazy world ! My father passed 7 years ago , so we played ace of spades ( acoustic version) at his funeral , so I guess when lemmy passed it took a little bit more of my father from me , great band !!
My favorite band playing my favorite song from my favorite solo artist. What an awesome version of Heroes! It was hard not to get emotional hearing this song. I miss them both so much.
I never heard this cover before. I guess I wasn’t expecting much being heavy metal and such. Boy was I wrong. The music was spot on. It was a real tribute to the Bowie song. Lemmy’s vocals were fantastic. His toned down enunciation of the words showed a side of him that I never knew existed. This cover should have been a top ten hit. I love it. RIP Lemmy, you’re the man.
Lemmy and Motorhead getting it, covering this song. They always played loud and hard, and too many folks ended up missing their musicality. Huge Bowie fan here, and I can not think of a better cover. I wish there had been a moment for Bowie to get on stage with them to do that cover. He could certainly have kept up with them, and they could have done him justice
Great song, cover, Mickey, Phil, and Giant Lemmy. Nine years that Lemmy has changed his cosmic address. This magnificent video is a deserved tribute to a fantastic band and to an unrivaled career. They gave all they had inside. Mickey Dee and Phil Campbell were also exemplary in accompanying Lemmy until the end. Hats off, guys. I better stop there, as it becomes too emotional...
I would have never thought the ringing sound of amp feedback along with random sounds of the bass can be filled with so much emotion that it could make a man cry.... but it did. R.I.P Lemmy, Wurzel, Phil Taylor, Fast Eddie, and Larry Wallis. R.I.P Motorhead
I agree, FUCK CANCER! Have lost several friends to cancer in recent years. Your comment struck a chord with me as I'm also a big big fan of Bowie and Motorhead. We must all be strong at some point in our lives. Keep rocking and smiling and play those tunes damn loud.
This song proofed that my hubby and I are the perfect match! Me: Bowie fan since I was a kid. Hubby: Motörhead fan Lemmy and Bowie died in a time range of a few months. Lemmy sings one of our favourite songs from Bowie. We both still miss them.

@@jackmann9031 I'll start by saying that this is a damn good cover. But Dave's version is simply definitive. Everything else is second best. If you like this version, let me recommend the Hollywood Vampires version and King Crimson's cover. Also, Blondie does one hell of a job.that being said, Mötorhead kills it here.

Bowie's masterpiece stripped down to the bare essentials and run at 200mph is possibly the most Motörhead thing I have ever heard. You are a probably a Motörhead fan but you don't know it yet. :)
This is the most wonderful video celebration of Lemmy ever. I love everything about it...especially the way it comes to an end. A hero's tribute. I really miss being able to look forward to a new Motorhead album. EVERYTHING Lemmy did had integrity. Yeah, some albums he and the boys did were better than others, but you can never say he phoned anything in. Everything he played was for the right reason. He and the boys could make anything sound cool...and I think Bowie himself would be smiling listening to this. Totally respectful and totally unlike any other cover of this song...and unmistakably Lemmy. RIP The Legend.
Bless Lemmy, blessed by the Duke, I hope. They're together, wherever is, and send their light on us. Blessin' us, now. Love and Long Live to THEIR MEMORIES!!

iva davies (icehouse) is way better!!
Motörhead could’ve done a cover of ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” and still made it sound cool
So true
My father was a great fan of Lemmy and Motörhead’ , met him once I believe , and in his own way lived the similar life style , but not in a band ha ha , when he talked of him I never got it ! But now I do ! And live the band and what he stood for in this sometimes crazy world ! My father passed 7 years ago , so we played ace of spades ( acoustic version) at his funeral , so I guess when lemmy passed it took a little bit more of my father from me , great band !!
Lemmy said he liked Dancing Queen by ABBA in an interview. Just might have happened if he was to stick around.
@Twiggy Hah! same
I would have loved to hear that......
Unfortunately, Lemmy and David left us much too early. Your music lives in our hearts!
everyone has their time and glory, no such thing as too early, let the man rip
💯
Early? Lemmy has 70 and Bowie 60
My favorite band playing my favorite song from my favorite solo artist. What an awesome version of Heroes! It was hard not to get emotional hearing this song. I miss them both so much.
Torrey Shoaff What Torrey said, I can't type because of the tears ;-)
One of the best covers ever , RIP Lemmy.
Spot on, brilliant
"And if I die tonight..." I'm happy and thankful to have experienced such a great inspiration like MOTÖRHEAD ♠
Thank you Lemmy for all you did for this world in the short time you were here... no excuses , just his own MAN!! the world needs more❤️❤️❤️🤟🏻🤟🏻
Great song, cover, Mickey, Phil, and Giant Lemmy.
One of the best from the best, covered by the best!
PersephoneNyxProtos that makes no sense.
One of the best [original songs] from the best [orig. artist David Bowie], covered by [Lemmy]. Stupid!
It breaks my heart to hear this. I miss both Lemmy and Bowie so much. They were amazing musicians. And fuc...k cancer!
Yup-it's amazing how a great cover can honor both artists.
Some of us choose it.
Oh yes....i am in tears....
where is beautifull song and never
Wow .... Great cover from an unexpected source, that brought a tear to my eye - RIP, never forgotten & greatly missed Lemmy & Bowie
Listening to the message in this song. Many say: "don't try to be a hero". But you can be a hero at least for one day.
I think this is a proof of humility and respect, and of course a beautiful version of another great musician.
This song proofed that my hubby and I are the perfect match!
Me: Bowie fan since I was a kid.
Hubby: Motörhead fan
Lemmy and Bowie died in a time range of a few months.
Lemmy sings one of our favourite songs from Bowie.
We both still miss them.
Bowie died 13 days after Lemmy.
Lemmy,caro inarivabbile Lemmy!!!!
The best. Motorhead was just simply the best. Killer cover of a killer song. Motorized. So good!
I miss him

c'est presque mystique la voix de Lemmy sur cet hymne de David !! Quelle nostalgie l'époque rock de ces deux légendes ... MISS YOU SO MUCH
I can't get over how insanely good this is.
Shivers.
Best version of "Heroes" ever.
So good even Bowie would approve.
is good!
class
This MOTORHEAD cover is just so damn good, you can play it over and over and over!
I play it everyday from nz
My dad loves Motorhead and he named me Lemmy after him :) . Ive been listening to Motorhead since I was a kid :') R.I.P Lemmy. Gone but never forgotten :')
Motörhead - Heroes (David Bowie cover):Lyrics
I, I will be king
And you, shall be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
I will beat them, forever and ever
Cause we can be heroes, just for one day
And you, you are insane
And I, I am the same
Cause we're lovers, and that is a truth
Yes we're lovers, and we're in that booth
Though nothing, will keep us together
We could stop time, forever and ever
We can be heroes
What d'you say?
I, I can remember (I remember)
Standing, by the wall (by the wall)
And the guns, were all ready to fire (ready to fire)
And we kissed, as though we never can fall (never can fall)
And the shame, was on another city
Oh we can beat them, forever and ever
We could be heroes, just for one day
We can be heroes, we can be heroes
We can be heroes
We can be heroes, just for one day

Perfect song to send off Motörhead,R.I.P. Lemmy.
Nobody can cover David Bowie, But Motorhead did and it was awesome. Love you Lemmy. You are a star. Never go away.
One of the greatest rock songs ever played by one of the greatest rock bands ever. Legendary
I absolutely cannot get enough of this song and video. Probably the 100th time I have watched it. Happy Birthday Lem, and rest in peace. The world went to shit after you passed, but listening to Motorhead always gives me a glimmer of hope. Much love. 🤘❤️
Well said, it has gone to shit 😮
Two of my most played on Spotify…Lemmy and Bowie! Two of the greatest musicians ever hands down! 🤘🏼
Lemmy will live forever in my heart! I saw him for the first time at a concert in Hamburg in 1986. It was really loud and impressive! Thanxs Lemmy for being part of my youth!!

Hey I'm 61 and first heard them in '81, Greetings from Brooklyn NY USA
53 and i feel you. Greets from Germany 🤘😎
Always blows me away. "Rock'n'Roll is the religion that will never let you down."
As enjoyable as it can be, rock and roll is useless to save you. Only Jesus saves.
@@davidjohn8661 By the way that christians react to Rock'n'Roll you can tell, the followers of Jesus know about the competition. And they are loosing the fight they started. We all know Rock'n'Roll exists, but Jesus never did.
An afternoon spent listening to old rock and roll is an afternoon well spent ❤
Yeah, just doin the same. Greetings fom France!
In millions of years time aliens will find what is left of the human race .and they will find this and realise that we had potential. R.i.p Bowie. R.i.p Lemmy. You are and will forever be Heroes.
It's not possible to like your post enough. \m/

Inspiring comment
it"s Da POWER-LIFE !;'
may your god bless you .sir.
Not just a hero for a day, man. For us, you're a hero for eternity.
I love that Lemmy made the lyrics his own, but kept the spirit of the original. "You, you are insane. I am the same."
Being a fan since the beginning I just love this song song ,I'm 59 and it brings me to tears , I don't believe a word is a second close !? Hello my nephew Vinny
What an outstanding tribute to Bowie...amazing!
Im crying for both of them, music industry wont be the same ever again, 2 men both beautiful and talented in their own special way, they will never be forgotten 💖 💖 xx
How Iconic that this is one of the last songs he sang in a world dreadfuly in need of people like him.... Pure love, Rock n roll to the core... Rest in Power man...
Beautiful comment
Meant every word...He was a great man...
Nikola Kranjčević
He certainly was.
There's hope yet, legends never really die... cheers friend, you caught me at a bad moment, lifted my spirit a bit...have a good one...
Thats a masterpiece of music. Bless Bowie and Lemmy... Love ya
Tear in my eye for Lemmy and a tear for how great he performed this song. RIP Sir.
I never was a Motörhead fan but this version of «Hereoes» is just insane
Its all good
Come to my age and you are fan
@@rueganer70 if i interpret your account name correctly, I assume that we have the same year of birth
Bowie's masterpiece stripped down to the bare essentials and run at 200mph is possibly the most Motörhead thing I have ever heard. You are a probably a Motörhead fan but you don't know it yet. :)
@Dirk Silbernagel if you were never a fan of them then you hate Motörhead
Mark Boyd Best day of my life May 99 Edmonton Alberta I got to be a part of the road crew and had a few drinks of jack:coke with Lemmy. I’ll nvr forget that night!!Thank you Lemmy a fiver lol 😝
Oh yeah forgot to mention I’m a paraplegic in a wc lol 😝 awesome 😎
Well Said man!!
Wayne Lajimodiere a true ( Lemmy) remains true. But few have uncompromised standard's. Time humanity and influuence are heavy hitting factors vertuallly inescapable. True all the fucking way.. Pure and geniune motive is the only way.....
This song was used at my dads funeral and it couldn’t of been better thanks to this song. Lenny lived in my dads heart and will live in mine now
Miss you Lemmy... Miss you Bowie... Feels like the end of an era. All my heroes are passing away one by one. We should all be so lucky that years after we pass, those who loved us say "man... What a great guy/gal, what a great time in life."
So to all my Heroes I say Thank You! What a great time in my life!
So well said, well said 👏 👍
We all have an expiration date...make the best of the time you are here. We are never guaranteed a tomorrow. This was an epic side of Motorhead!
Hanley, I share the same feelingof you! They are passing way, we miss them, but, is our task to keep their legacy alive, rolling...it makes me feel happy, continuing to hear them and sharing with the young generations their powerful and encouraging music. Take care Man and lots of Rock n' Roll in your life!
Lovedd it
I have had the pleasure of seeing Motorhead live a few times, and loved every minute. Love this version of this song. R.I.P Lemmy, miss you 😢
Damn every single time this video drives goosebumps all over body and tears into my eyes!
RIP Lemmy and David you're sadly missed down here!
Hopefully we all meet once on the other side.
A hero covering a song called heroes originally by another hero
a thousand thumbs up!
: ))))))))))))
And what did each of them do to become heroic?
Yep
@@varrjames186 encouraged people to be themselves.
@@SteffanRoberts That is not heroic.
Awesome! This song holds much for me. Just incredible. Would love to hear Bowie do The Ace of Spades.
Dwayne Goodin sadly we'll never get that chance as both Lemmy and Bowie are gone.
Dwayne Goodin that would be cool
That would have been amazing!
The song title says it all ! You are heroes guys and always will be !!!!
