Americans use metric far more than most people realize. The entire military and much of industry (especially the tech sector) use metric exclusively. Both systems are taught in schools and our rulers and thermometers almost always include both as well. We mostly just use imperial measurements casually these days and online because it amuses us how incredibly bent out of shape the rest of the world gets over something so trivial.
@@Okusar Lies. When you go to the market do you ask for kilos of something like vegetables? Do you state your weight and height in metric? If you don't change that bit of your everyday life, including car speed, you still haven't properly changed to metric.
@@Shijaru64 Does it annoy you that not everyone in the world speaks English? How is Americans using a different system of measurement mostly amongst ourselves all that different? Are you seriously that inconvenienced by it? Sure, we may not use metric in day-to-day life but most of us are well versed in it. One major hurdle towards fully converting the entire country over to metric is the enormous costs associated with doing so. It's a much more monumental task compared to converting a comparatively tiny European country. There are more than 250 million of cars, and over 4 million miles (6.5 million km) worth of roads covered in signage and mile markers in the U.S. that would all have to be changed over to metric at enormous cost to the tax payers, and for what purpose? Because it mildly annoys some people who don't even live here? Imperial has already been defined by metric for decades now anyway so in a sense we already use metric. The full changeover is likely to happen eventually due to international pressure but in the near term the costs greatly outweigh the benefits.
@@Okusar The cost argument is one that I've heard too many times, but it's mainly an excuse because many Americans are just freaking stubborn. If I remember correctly, one American president tried to convert the whole country but gave up halfway. The cost doesn't have to happen all at once. They should start by making entertainment always in metric. When making a Hollywood film or cartoon, just use metric. That'll start getting people used to it, then start changing state by state, starting with the smaller ones. Change CAN happen fast enough, it's just a matter of willingness. Almost the entire world uses metric, and it's the one you need for science along with kelvin. Still using imperial in this century has more to do with stubbornness and refusal to a better and more efficient system than just costs.
From where I'm from it sounds like a really bad deal, my provider gives me 60GB for a 20 USD plan and after the 60GB I still had internet but with reduced speed.

"uuuhh... I can't actually _get_ Ting in the UK..."
ROFL.
From where I'm from it sounds like a really bad deal, my provider gives me 60GB for a 20 USD plan and after the 60GB I still had internet but with reduced speed.
