Hi, may I ask a question, I normally got the nail bars but with the virus etc, I’m thinking of trying myself, would you recommend polygels or fibreglass or acrylics, stick on false, gel nails with extensions, shellac, does it help. Nails grow, eg , what is easier and not as expensive, many thanks and hope you don’t mind me asking,
@@alimbye795 I’m an old school educated tech and was introduced to polygel 2 years ago and I think polygel would be a great starting point for you. My daughter recently got MAKART and she loves it because she always has lifting issues because of her job and having her hands in water. She’s had her first set for 2 weeks now and they are still solid. So you will want to invest in a full kit with the primer, dehydrator, base coat, brush and slip saluting to go with your gel and get a box of dual forms also called popits till you get use to product application before you go free hand. Watch Anastasia’s videos about this type of application to solid info. She’s in the top 3 on TH-cam when it comes to knowledge and skill.
I just did my first set ever and ended up with bubble nails too. I used acrylic and had a hard time getting the perfect bead. Luckily I have the Makartt e-file and was able to fix them. Now I am going to try the poly gel and hope for a better outcome. 🙂 Can't wait to receive it and my practice hand because this is great fun!
My biggest issue, as a self-taught artist was my side walls getting flooded with the builder gel and I still sometimes have issues with it. The skin around my fingers is very puffy from being a nail bitter in the past, so it's always a bit of a struggle. Then I for sure would make the mistake of the tips being WAAAY too thick. Not as thick as those bubble nails lol but, for sure thicker than a credit card, I hated and still hate the flex of my natural nails and figured that if I thickened up the product from the apex all the way down that it would still look good lol..yeaaah not so much. I have learned how to have the product thick enough to keep my nails from flexing so much that it's uncomfortable, but also still keep my nails looking slim. It's a fine line to walk and has for sure taken LOTS of practice, trial and errors lol.
For your own nails, you can use paper clip to keep the sidewalls back for a while :) I've shown this trick in this video - th-cam.com/video/DVEo0abrHPU/w-d-xo.html

A few months ago I had gotten my nails done at a salon for the first time. they, who painted my nails had done almost all of these 😵 I was so unpleased and couldn't wait to get the product off. They also filed my nails down so thinly with an e-file, when I took the product off the first thing that happened was my nail tore 😰
I know I’ve made all those mistakes when I was training ...and even now very occasionally when I’ve been using Polygel and a client has hard gel it will catch me out and run into the Cuticle because I’m chatting away to my client 😂😂😂
I use to make all these mistakes because I use to learn by watching while getting my own nails done. I remember the hell of trying to get a bead with acrylic but my brush would end up a mess. 😂😂 The mistakes of taught ppl make we gotta laugh at ourselves when we learn because sometimes we use to lie to ourselves that they are wearable.
I am still having a problem doing my own nails and getting the thickness at cuticles and end of nail thin enough but still having thickness by the apex
Thank you for the hekpful tips. I have naturally long nails that grow as long as i want them to. I cut them only because sometimes they interfere with my daily tasks. I do my own nails and i have made all mentioned mistakes in the past. But the more i keep doing my nails the better I'm getting. I love that self improvement
1:19 You mention having thin product on the sides however, whenever I do that, my nails break on both sides, leading to half my nail ripping off painfully. What am I doing wrong?
Ive started doing my own nails and I've made all those mistakes..lol..would you say that these same rules can apply to applying acrylic as well or is this specific to gel overlay? Very informative video..thank you for sharing♥️
I’m just learning and I’m on my third set and I do ok but I find I go to not enough product and have thin nails. But then I look at them sideways and I tend to put more near the cuticle. I guess it’s just practice practice practice.
I recently started using ibd builder gel and haven’t had great experiences so far. I know I must be doing something wrong. So I prep my nail by pushing the cuticles back and trimming them, then I file to take the shine off, I apply the tips because I want them long then I’ll add the dehydrator and primer and apply the builder gel, it kind of burns when I put it in the lamp and then on some of them I can see instant lifting after I file them a bit which is soo frustrating! Then within a few days Of having them they pop off..
Thank you! I do have a question. I run into this problem alot, when a client has super pinched natural nails when they grow. They just curve in and it starts chipping as if the gel is separating fromt he natural nail! Its extremely frustrating. Any help with this issue?
Well shi.. I'm the biggest noob.(don't even get my nails done @salon!) the more I see videos like this, the more confidence I lose in myself doing my own gel nails 😢I just ordered some builder gels, a little starter kit. I don't use fake nails or anything, just like to paint my natural nails & practice nail art - I still ain't too good 😂 but my natural nails break too easy, gets cracks, chip etc & when I can finally get them all growing at nice length, they begin to curve down & inward at sides 😩 so gonna try a builder gel kit. But losing confidence the more I "learn" about all the mistakes that can happen/be made. I only recently for the 1st time used gel polish and a lamp! 😂 Tbh honest I started panicking/got scared when using lamp!😳😰 Uploaded that video to my channel anyways 😅
I usually will have one nail on my right hand that is mountainous lol because I can’t see the clear gel builder as well until I put my color polish on it. I hate when that happens but I have to take more time when doing my nails
would it be possible to put a soft gel overlay on the natural nail and then on top make a hard gel extension so if you have to remove you would be able to soak it off?
I really love your videos they teach me so much and you are so talented and informative at doing nails. Thank you for all the tips, nail art ideas, and tutorials. You have helped me soo much and always watch for new videos from you. 😊🌝😁🤗💅 and I was wondering if you know of any stores that carry a practice hand, dust catcher, and a good nail drill and bits that has enough power that will remove the acrylic, poly gel, and gel products that is reasonably priced because I am taking classes in cosmetology and we learn how to do nails and stuff and I need to find at least a good practice hand and nail drill but I can't afford anything to expensive so do you have any ideas where I can get them reasonably priced please
Thanks for this video! Can you do a video on American manicure style? I believe it’s very popular in Russia but they might call it something else. It’s not French but not baby boomer either, it’s kind of like the perfect hybrid! 💅🏼I would love tutorial on that! 💗
That's my fave color to get. I live in the states and everytime I ask for it techs are like, what? I always have to tell them the white isn't nearly as bright white as French manicure and the nail bed color is a clear color but it's got a reddish tint in the bottle. It's much more natural looking unlike French that's all in your face. Now that I started doing my own nails I don't have to worry about explaining it everytime.
I'm not sure if it would be okay to keep growing and trimming my gel manicure until all the gel is grown out instead of going back to get it soaked off or drilled off. This is my first gel manicure and I'm really hoping to learn and not damage my nails that have always been very strong leading up to this. Thank you for any help!!!!
I have also did these mistakes and its very ugly and niy a nice sight yo look at. My filing and my prep and my shape and my gel colour polish goes great buy soon as i apply poly gel or acrylic and any gels it has been a mess. So today ive learnt to keep side walls thin but not too thin cuticle area should be free of too much product and the free edge must be thin but not too thin the most product goes on the apex. I did polygel today thers was some tiny mistakes but im going to fix them tommorrow. I used w clear tip then poly gel on top. My thumb nail seemed like some product was too thin in the side wall. Would you recommend i remove whole nail and redo it or can i save it and apply poly gel over the top wear i think its too thin? Why is it taking 4 hours to complete? Thank you for your great educational videos and thank you for all your replies. I think im slowly getting there. By the way it was very short nails ibwas working on. 😚

Very helpful, just makes you go over stuff and think!! I dego have more work to do, but I'm loving it so I'll perfect it 😁 thanks for sharing
This video was so helpful!! Thank you for sharing!
You're so welcome!
I know I’ve made all those mistakes when I was training ...and even now very occasionally when I’ve been using Polygel and a client has hard gel it will catch me out and run into the Cuticle because I’m chatting away to my client 😂😂😂
I've definitely made the cuticle area too thick trying to get the color right.
As a licensed manicurist I did all these mistakes and I still do but with practice, I've improved
I'm still learning and my mistake is that i can't do a really good apex 😭
Find me ill share my tips with yu dear
thank you so much for sharing this! very helpful
I am still having a problem doing my own nails and getting the thickness at cuticles and end of nail thin enough but still having thickness by the apex
Fantastic video, thank you!
Thanks so much!!! Will you have a Part 2 on how to do overlays correctly?? I hope so! Lol thanks again!
Thank you! Yes, it's on the way :)
@@Nailcou thanks so much that's awesome!!!
Thank you so much for your time and effort
Hi! Im having problem with my underneath gel nail may i know what would be a good advice
1:19 You mention having thin product on the sides however, whenever I do that, my nails break on both sides, leading to half my nail ripping off painfully. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for the information. I don't like the look of nails with a huge apex hump that so many put. 💖💖💖
Do you have any idea how amazing your background music is??? Great video as well thank you!
Thank you so much yo share with us, i really did this mistake (product to both sides) sometimes and i dont knew why. ¡Thanks!
Sooooo helpful. Thank you
Ive started doing my own nails and I've made all those mistakes..lol..would you say that these same rules can apply to applying acrylic as well or is this specific to gel overlay? Very informative video..thank you for sharing♥️
Thank you!
Yes, the rules for structure are very similar. For overlay everything is a bit thinner
@@Nailcou thank you so much for responding, I so appreciate it!
Primer
@@kor_sham so don’t use primer?
Mine popped off , so I ordered primer thinking it would help?
Best hard gels you can find in the states? I use young nails @ the moment
Floridaaa girl The Gel Bottle Inc. They’re builder in a bottle :)
would it be possible to put a soft gel overlay on the natural nail and then on top make a hard gel extension so if you have to remove you would be able to soak it off?
Can you recommend any good natural gel nail places in Toronto?
Can you do a video om new style vs old School? :)
Thanks for this video! Can you do a video on American manicure style? I believe it’s very popular in Russia but they might call it something else. It’s not French but not baby boomer either, it’s kind of like the perfect hybrid! 💅🏼I would love tutorial on that! 💗
Thank you! Yes, I think so, can you send me the picture of what it exactly looks like please? Here or on Instagram :)
GEEZUS! Some of those nails are a MESS!
Some of the nail you have shown are called bubble/duck bill nails. They have been done that way on purpose. Its is a design.
You have the most beautiful hands and nails.
I’ve done em ALL girl
super useful video! thank you so much❤️
For thin gel that self levels someone said to not wait, just go a ahead and cure each nail to prevent the gel sliding to the sides.
Eso es un súper trabajo bravo
I’ve done all of these I’m so guilty for this but at this moment as I’m watching this I’m doing my nail tech course just hope I pass 😂🤣😂🤣😂
YOU ARE AMAZING
Informative! 💅💅💅 video Anastasia Tfs...

Your content is ah-mazing!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Builder gel, or builder in a bottle is VERY difficult to remove with acetone. What is your removal recommendation since you oppose using an e-file. PLEASE help.
TFS I really appreciate your advice
Great video as always
can you please tell me what is the best gel brand for doing overlay on flexible nails ?? that i can buy it without a licsence
I usually add to much product that's why I have them professionally done
I have a question I use a builder gel on my nails and what I notice is that it will come off in one peace and I’ve tried filling the nail and using primer and not to much dehydrater or not to little before application and and I don’t know why they just chip off and I wrap the tips of my nails and usually have a think layer and don’t get it on my skin I dunno what to do 😫
