Absolutely fantastic! You have absolutely nailed the storytelling for this video and I can see all the hard work you put into each shot pay off! You went the extra mile for a lot of the shots, shooting outdoors, setting up that nice blue and violet lighting for the interview style portion, enlisting the help of friends for the intro, it all adds up! The sound design and pacing was amazing as well! Seriously the best video you have made to date and I can't wait to see more! For me, the important part of this wasn't the fact that you made Mario in Powerpoint (although that was very epic), it's the fact that you realized it's all about the deeper things. Perseverance, overcoming challenges and doing what you love. It's great to see someone do something "crazy" on TH-cam but show that in the end, there are real lessons you learn from this stuff. You don't have to convert PPT. to EXE.. You need to set your file as a PPSM. which is an executable file that opens with powerpoint, but you cannot exit full screen so players cant edit the game.
I tried my best not to make the video as technical but I basically had to use VBA/macros to update the Mario image using the left value to change its position (as of what I can remember)
how did you do the code for character movement, and COLLISION?? im a vba powerpoint game dev but ive been trying to figure this out for MONTHS, please tell me your secret master mike
I gotta dig deep down my dusty drive cabinet lol. Basics for collisions: use the very basic collision system by comparing the 4 points around the player and that of another object. Compare overlaps and you can get collisions working. As for movement update the shape/image x position accordingly to an input or time etc
@@MikeOlaoye ohh like if the "collision shapes" have the same pos as a "hitbox shape"? right? also when i try to make the wasd movement its unoptimized because i use do loops, how did you make wasd so smooth? sorry if im asking alot im a bit desperate 😭
