Brilliant! Years ago I made a Family Feud game manager in PPT. The cool thing was using VBA to read the game definition file for the match, which made it easy to configure and use over and over again without modifying any slides. Soooooo ... you could add in a VBA initialization routine to access different background videos, songs, and logo spawning sequences and you'd have a tidy little reusable engine :)

Yeah, I always made Point and Click Escape Rooms and even did a Five Nights at Freddy´s in PowerPoint, which was actually very good. There were hidden timers, that changed "buttons" without the player noticing, so it was some sort of random. Like when you click on something "in game", every second something different happened. And lots friends loved it! XD

This is totally fantastic "hack" - but arguably a lot more work than using a real game engine because of the painstaking placement and animation of each target by hand. Any decent 2d engine would allow the same basic method of using pre-rendered backgrounds to make it look pretty but would allow automating of the moving targets so that you could write the whole thing in an afternoon. Or multiple days if you are learning the tool for the first time (but then you have new skills to use for your next game, so... that's still a win). Nonetheless it's really cool to see how far you pushed powerpoint.
