What beautiful cinematography coming through the woods in the snow to find the hidden gem amongst the trees widths a trail of smoke arising from the shelter within
Push the wrong bloomin button! This was absolutely brilliant. Whitehorse reminds me of some of our gold mining towns in California. Must’ve been a huge learning curve to be off grid. I’m sorry but the Lou is way too far away from the cabin!! There is wildlife out there that don’t like people. LOL thank you so much! Enjoy your stay. 🤟🏻💜😎🍀🇺🇸
Liz glad you enjoyed the video it was an amazing experience. I believe we were enclosed in a fenced off area around the retreat that not even we saw so think we were quite safe. We got used to the loo and not using it at night. The gold rush history was so interesting and carcross coming next week had more on that front. Stunning place.
Thank you! I lived up in the Yukon and Alaska for around 20 years, in cabins like this at times. I miss it everyday - especially the outdoor fires looking out at the views.
Wow guys very well done on your outstanding catalogue of work. This channel contains the best travel videos on TV or the web. The videography, the narration and the music are just top class. Amazing 👏 Thank you 👏
Goodness how beautiful was that. I would love to go to Alaska. Everywhere looks so clean with the snow. I could handle that. Thanks for the share, please stay safe and take care

Real Winter, not the English variety, lol! Just beautiful! Winter is the best time for a bonfire outside. Can't wait for the next episode! Cheers from Michigan USA.
That was the most snow we've ever seen! All thick and heavy on the trees. So glad we did have the fire in the end. Was amazing looking out at the stars. Of course it was pitch black so could not film it and show you!
Gosh guys!!! You never disappoint, this is amazing... what a wonderful and beautiful experience ❤️Thank you so much for sharing it with us, absolutely lovely as always and so well done! 🥂🍾be safe 🙏
You two guys are living my dream,I spent ten years traveling the world but I am so so jealous of you! Enjoy your life you are only young for such a short time.
Hi Victor, well I like to think we are living the dream in between our fulltime jobs, but we try to enjoy every minute. On weekends or when we get our holidays we go all out!
Thank you! It's nice to see such wonderful landscapes! Your expeirince of living in this little cabin reminds me of a chalet in Switzerland or Norway, where people go for a few days to reset their thoughts and be closer to nature. I hope you enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next one! 🥰🥰🥰🖐🖐🖐
I absolutely love your videos! You do such a great job at sharing your experiences with us in an honest way, the good and bad of wherever you visit. Winter tires are a MUST, all-wheel drive helps too. Thanks for letting people know about that when renting a car.
Great video. Very well done! I've always been fascinated with this part of Canada and would love to go there. The scenery is amazing and really like that cabin you found.
The cabin was incredible, could not have been better. So happy to have made these memories there. Love to go back in the summer and drive to Dawson city and see that. Bit to far in winter.
Yes we have done a lot of UK videos mainly because we have not been able to travel outside the country that much. We'll still be doing all our UK videos but from time to time we will also stretch our legs to other countries!
Welcome to North America! Thanks for sharing your experience roughing it in winter. Beautiful! I love how you both appreciate things like sunsets and silence. So wonderful in this busy modern world. The California Gold Rush ran from 1848 to 1855, and I always forget how recently Alaska became a state and the Klondike opened for mining. Hopefully the bears are hibernating this time of year, and your cooler of provisions will be safe. Campgrounds in the Southern Sierras provide metal food lockers to keep those very smart creatures at bay; even leaving food in a cooler inside a car is asking for trouble. :0 Look forward to your next installment.
I think we were in a fenced-off area hidden away so all good. The bears would be hibernating and I would imagine we would have been told otherwise. It remind me of when I went to put something in a bin in Banff and tried to open the bear-proof litterbin. Could I open it! Heck no. A local helped me 😂
Thanks for uploading! Insane you did this in the winter. I'm a New Yorker who started a continental trip with my little red convertible, from Texas, down to Mexico then up the MS river where I'm Winnipeg now. Heading up to Alaska and stopping every 3 hours, taking a year and a half to do it. Was thinking of stopping in Whitehorse. Cabin you stayed at looks great and dog friendly, thanks for posting website
What an amazing trip you are having! Are you documenting it? Whitehorse is amazing and our off grid style cabin wonderful for a short basic experience of off grid life. Of course it was nothing like what the locals put up with for a full winter but a nice taste! Make sure you have a 4x4 and winter tyres if you do head up there in the snow. Summer is supposed to be good too especially if you do the drive from Whitehorse to Dawson City. We would like to go back for that in summer. Have fun!
Beautiful. This is certainly a departure from your National Trust videos of stately homes. The winter scenery is stunning. We woke up to a foot of snow this morning in Toronto, our first major storm of the season. For some reason, snow is always exciting. Looking forward to the next videos.
Yes it sure is although would love to see many of our U.K. places in the snow making them magical. We do like to travel to other places around the world and share our experiences with a bit of fun and history as well. COVID as restricted us for a while so we’ve done much more on the U.K. alone than we might otherwise. Lots more U.K. to come though we have quite a few videos to edit from late last year 😊
What a fascinating start so look forward to the next ones. Seeing those snow laden trees brought memories of a February holiday to the Rockies and the magical scenery around Lake Louise. I'm afraid I didn't "rough it" like you did. I do love my bed and modern conveniences.
We just love the snow laden trees never seen it so thick like that. Although we did have a habit of bumping into them and some how it always went down our necks into our shirts.

And in big storms the power does go out (trees fall on the lines but they are usual repaired within hours) but we have huge bottled gas for cooking so never an issue.
Its good to do things out of your comfort zone now and again. It makes amazing memories! We would not want to live like that all the time but for a few days it was quite manageable. ☺

Whilst we do a lot in the U.K. on the villages and town and history we also like to travel the world something that has been hard to do this last 2 years. We like an adventure and snow and Canada and being somewhere not so many people go for a holiday Yukon seemed like a good fit. Later we head to Banff and Jasper for some lovely canyon and frozen waterfall walks. It was a great in touch with nature trip. We loved it.

Thank you for reminding us spoilt brats what a wonderful life it is nowadays with modern conveniences. I am grateful to you for humbling us. 😂 Salutations to the original Native Americans and early European settlers who faced and survived those tough conditions.
It was about -10c that day once you get moving with the wind chill probably -20c, the dogs seemed quite happy. Really have not idea on what they can resist.
@@MemorySeekers my perception was the same that you wrote, besides I didnt never went to a place with this cold. Here in Brazil, when do +38ºC my 3 dogs suffer a lot, they only walk, dont play, and most of time the lay down a always with a tired breath. And always that I see a video with dogs on snow, they are always good, never saw they shivereing, so I dont understand this info about below 7ºC be dangerous for dogs. You would not want to be driving in winter in the Yukon without them. I found this www.whitehorsetoyota.com/blog/2021/12/15/when-do-you-need-to-put-winter-tires-on-in-the-yukon I suggest you do a bit of googling to see when and if the law requires it.

Although my current home has only tank water from rain fall. I am surprised that cottage isn’t plumbed to a water tank using water run off from the roof specially in summer.
👍👍👍👍👍👍 It's Beautiful but the Life in the Cabin with No Electricity & Running Water is very very very very Tough in Snow. I mean I have lived this Life with Limited Water at my Native Place. I mean you need to Fill Big Gallons & Buckets with Water from Nearby "Water Well" Every Day for Everybody's Convinience and Open Air Toilet.🤮...😷🥴🤒 It was after Many Years we had Cabin Toilet. Closed Cabin Toilet was delayed Due to Lack of Funds & Approval from Local Authorities for which we had to go through Legal Proceedings.
@ 7:18. Have you got a HUGE crack in your wind screen? If that was given to you by the rental company it’s not very safe - sorry. That could shatter anytime and given the wildlife doesn’t offer the protection it’s designed for.
In the Yukon we don't replace windscreens when they crack. Not even rental companies. There's no point, as you'll just have another crack within a week. And they don't ever spontaneously shatter, even at minus 50 C. (Which we saw last week.) A final note, we don't need our windscreens to function as animal protection. Bears don't attack us in our cars. 🐻
I actually went back to the rental desk and she said the same thing. In fact I looked at other cars and they all had cracked screens. She also said it takes 6 months to get a replacement flown up. So we had to live with it. Not idea when you need to film!
Whitehorse sucks…..living expenses are high, shortage of housing, up to -47C in winter and 6 months of snow on the ground. After 15 years I had enough…..moving South where it’s warm.
I remember reading Jack London's stories and imagining -Yukon, Klondike. Thanks for the video!
I haven’t read them must get round to it! He came to the Klondike didn’t get any gold but went home with the inspiration for his books that made him a fortune. I think that’s what happened?

Carcross?! Should have done literally any other town..
Its a very interesting town.
Whitehorse sucks…..living expenses are high, shortage of housing, up to -47C in winter and 6 months of snow on the ground. After 15 years I had enough…..moving South where it’s warm.
Hope it works for you.
