    I am just blown away at the beauty you captured during your trip. This has to be the best canoe adventure trip video ever. History added along the way. And I was holding my breath while you were going through the rough water. I don’t think I took a breath until you made it. I felt like I was right there paddling with you. Loved the documentation at your stops. What a treasure this video is. Thank you for sharing with everyone.

    Altitude - vs - Latitude.
    This is your absolute best. The blend of adventure, running the Yukon by canoe entertwined with bringing history alive, then finishing off with the Robert Service "Cremation of Sam Magee"...Masterful work.
    It brings back memories of my youth spent wandering and exploring abandoned mining towns in the Colorado Rockies. Here the landscape is breathtaking. It is just damn vertical. The landscape is defined by the incredible Rockies. The lower Montane forests change into sub-alpine, then alpine. Then around timberline, similar boreal forests givie way to alpine tundra.There are still some mining roads, abandoned towns, mining structures and heaped mine tailings, broken down machinery. All are slowly being reclaimed by nature. Or they are demolished and turned into ski resorts, leaving token samples of this incredibly rich history.
    Thank you both for stirring up these ol' memories.

    • @TheWoodlandEscape
      @TheWoodlandEscape  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Happy to have stirred them up, sir. We are now in that vertical world you speak of as we entered Northern BC today and are working are way down the spine of the Rockies.

It was; BEE-U- TEE-FUL 2 watch the way U handled those rapids...and to think it was wee but mighty Empress Catherine at the 'bow' = YIKES! It wasn't E Z 4 U 2 take us along on your trip...I do thank you most kindly 4 all your time and talents shared. Nothing like a vacation 2 a place NOT overrun by visitors = PERFECT! I DO encourage ALL efforts 2 keep bears at bay = Good idea(s)! “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” (Friedrich Nietzsche). Thought 4 sure U might find a horse in the old stables U visited Emperor Peter, and THAT would have completed Daniel Boone's idea of perfection = "All you need for happiness is a good gun, a good horse, and a good wife." What a stunning video!! We loved it! As others have noted, it was nice to see Cathy more frequently. On that note, a smile crossed my face at that part of the video where Cathy was preparing coffee at 3am for an early start and then I heard what I took to be a snore from off screen!! I wonder, did someone sleep in??
    Best Regards Rob & Kathy

      I was in fact buried in my blankets but, can’t take credit for what sounded like a big fart, it was our coffee French press that let loose the roar.

    Another awesome video from you two! I admit my heart was in my throat a little as you went into those rapids, but you two handled it with ease. Obviously, you are both very skilled canoeists. And Cathy's recitation of "Sam McGee" was marvelous!

    Appreciate your efforts and dedication! Wow what a trip. Peter have you ever considered writing a book? Travel, craft, history, music, adventure, the gift of gab, you my friend have had quite the life. So many stories you could tell, some you already have. I think it would be an interesting read and I'm sure many would agree. Cathy thanks for sharing the poem. Makes you wonder about the drive of the people back in that time and the dedication of true friends. Thanks again and keep your powder dry!

    Great video! What an amazing trip. Thanks for bringing us along. I really enjoyed listening to Kathy recite the Cremation of Sam McGee. Hopefully we're still going to make it over to Dawson before the summer is gone. Any more canoe trips in the future? Would love to have you here if you did another segment of the Yukon from Dawson into Alaska somewhere.

      @@TheWoodlandEscape Wow! When I said "into Alaska somewhere" I was thinking Eagle, Circle or Yukon Crossing at the farthest! That's epic! Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help from this end. I've been flying around Alaska for a living for the last thirty something years and know a few folks along the Yukon.
