Tell the eBay seller USPS will give him free Priority mail boxes. He need not use old recycled Amazon boxes to ship shoes in. I ditto another comment to restore some shoes that have ok soles but look terrible. The pair you started with was already 95% ok. That's good enough for most folks. Let's see you bring a 40% shoe up to 99% like you did with these. For that I recommend JB Weld epoxy and Shoe Goo.
Question: is not Necessary use another Brush to polished the shoes? Did some wax residues will be on the Brush, and Mess up the Shoes? What trying to say is you use the same brush and different wax colors.
I buy nearly all of my shoes off of eBay and fix them up with Saphir products. I've purchased and restored probably 12 pairs and couldn't be happier with the savings and time I put into my shoes. Definitely something to be proud of and enjoy.
Less is more when it comes to polish and cream and don't skimp out on cheap shoe care products! Purchasing from you was a great decision and has become an integral part of my shoe maintenance.

Would like to see this done with a crappier pair, not necessarily damaged but just a pair that has not been treated right over time and may be dried out, unpolished, are discolored or not perfectly matching each other's color, etc. Thanks
I recently bought a whole bunch of Saphir product as well as your guys horsehair brush and I couldn’t say how amazing the products are. Used it on all my shoes and will forever!
Excellent video, thank you so much! I’m currently creating a side business of restoring old shoes and these videos are indispensable. Also what you said about the Saphir polishes is true. I started with Kiwi but once I used and smelled Saphir, I can’t go back. Thank you once again and I’m excited to see the other videos.
A lot of people have commented that "we should have picked a more difficult pair." I understand the idea, but in reality there are so many good pairs of AE's on eBay that you shouldn't have to settle for a pair that's in terrible condition. I just bought two more pairs of AE's for future $50 eBay Challenge videos, and it was actually more difficult to find pairs in bad condition than it was to find them in good condition!
After watching this video I gave it a try and bought 4 pairs of AEs for between $50 and $60 each. They were all as described and with a little bit of love I got a great collection of shoes for half the price of 1 pair of Allen Edmonds! Thanks for sharing this video!
Awesome! It's the quickest way to create a good collection. And if you're lucky enough to find a pair of AE's 10+ years ago, the leather is actually really, really nice !
I've done this a couple of times. I had Alan Edmonds resole two pairs of shoes I got off ebay. I put a double sole on one pair, better than new! Saphir Reno'Mat is a must.
This was a thoroughly relaxing video, thanks! It is impossible to explain to someone else the therapeutic, meditative qualities of cleaning, maintaining, and polishing one's own shoes, especially if you are someone like me who has some vintage pairs of shoes from companies like the original Hartt Shoe and Boot Company from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. They were, at one point, owned by Church's, and the quality is pretty much the same. Working on them is an utter joy. Thanks for the ongoing videos. David
I had never thought of buying fine shoes second hand or used til I watched this. makes a lot of sense really since fine shoes are investment items. finding a fine pair used is better than a cheap low-quality dress shoe. Good video.
I started watching the channel and love it. I sell on ebay full time and always love when I find nice Allen Edmonds. I will look into getting some cleaning material probably be worth it before listing.
Great video! I've purchased many pair of high quality shoes on eBay (Allen Edmonds, Cole Haan, Church's, Trickers, etc) and have been successful at renovating them. This video gives me more great info to make the renovation even easier and more successful. Definitely need to get some of the Renovating cream for minor gouge repair. Thanks for the tips!
You have inspired me sir. I've been watching your videos and I was at a local clothing exchange and saw these cheap Aldos that had real nice walnut color for eleven bucks, half off the normal price. I said what the hell, and bought them. The leather is stretched out on the upper so I tried a sneakerhead method to minimize the creases with a damp towel and clothes iron. Worked pretty good, looks a little worse than the ones you just finished in this vid. They were quite wrinkled and felt loose when I tried them on. Your videos had me salivating for some Allen Edmonds and I hopped on Ebay and saw what fifty bucks and some quality products can do. I'm already fighting a serious shoe addiction and I think I see a new habit forming. If I can make up my mind on what AE I want, I will be stopping by HP and probably start off with something like the fifty in products you mentioned in a response below. I was amazed at the results I got with cheap products. Sorry for the length, but your vids are the first that actually had me produce my first successful mirror shine. I've only been trying for the last 5 years. But, using cheap products takes a long time, (for me). I have to confess, as an experiment on the other shoe, I used about 4 separate layers of wax and a hair drier on the other shoe and would heat until first layer melted in, then using my drill with a very light buffing wheel and light touch, started buffing. Of course, mine is not nearly as meditative and relaxing. Thank you for all the tips. Subbed.
One thing about Renovateur. I believe in such cases, where colour rejuvenation is important it's best to use it after a coloured cream. Logic behind this is that a dry leather takes inside more and deeper. So coloured cream has better chances to penetrate deep and perform a better colouring. After cream did it's job to further nourish the leather Renovateur may be of help.
A great video! I buy shoes on eBay all the time. I have purchased Allen Edmonds, Mezlan, and recently Magnanni’s. I will be ordering the Saphir products as I like to take care of my shoes. I worked at a Men’s Shoe Store while in college and learned to appreciate good shoes and how to take care of them.
Loved this video, I found a pair of Fifth Avenue ones for 3 bucks, yes, 3 bucks the sole is a little worn but I can't hate because of the price, and restored them as well, some people don't understand that the cost of these shoes comes with their long lasting life, and the fact that they can be restored to near to perfect condition with a bit of love, restoring is a great hobby of mine. Amazing videos and keep it up
Great video! I have a pair of lovely brown boots that have developed the white crazing across the piece between the toecap and the tongue. You briefly touched on the subject, could you offer a little more information on the best way to rectify that, please? Many thanks.
This happens when hard wax buildup across the vamp cracks. It can be easily brushed off with a horsehair brush, or, you can use some wax or cream polish and a chamois to rub it off.
Thanks for watching! Have you ever restoered a pair of shoes you bought on Ebay? Let us know! Please give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it. Subscribe and turn on notifications so you know when we post new videos.
Just restored a pair of Allen Edmonds Lasalle i bought at Goodwill for $10!!! Soles were worn but will hold for a few months for me to send for recrafting. Gave them a cleaning with saddle soap, reconditioned with cream and gave them a couple coats of polish and now they look awesome!
The Hanger Project I've had great success rescuing tires (but not super damaged) Allen Edmonds, Johnston Murphy Aristocraft and Florsheim Imperial shoes that have found in thrift shopa for 2 to 5 dollars. Along with some basic creams polishes and waxes. Along w some edge dressing and some overdue time w quality cedar shoe trees, they came back quite nicely. Great video, enjoyed the content:-)
This video inspired me to go to Ebay and buy Allen Edmonds for around the same price. Next I’m buying the Saphir products to take care of the shoes. I added insoles to make the shoes comfortable. Love the shoes and will strongly consider buying new in the future.
Thomaz Nadeau the approach can also yield great shoes with other serviceable makes such as Johnston Murphy Crown Aristocraft (then made in USA ones), florsheim imperial , Alden, and hs Trask for the other USA made options to consider :)
Well I went from knowing nothing about wax to ordering a full on setup of brown saphir from your website to protect my recent investment in higher end shoes. You're good at promoting product! :)
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I just came across your video and channel looking for ways to take care of my shoes. I’ll probably be binge watching today! Haha. Much appreciate! Please continue to share!
That's the idea! One of my young employees just bought a fantastic pair of old AE's on eBay for $50. With a little bit of polish, they looked incredible. Worn in, with a nice patina, they looked better than a new pair of shoes. And better quality, also!
I found a pair of AE captoe oxfords at Goodwill in my size. They wanted $39.99 and I asked if they would take $20. They agreed. The shoes were in pristine condition and were Cordovan leather. Never heard of it and I thought it might be Faux. Used some Saphir renovated and wow. Most comfortable and smart shoes I ever owned. Thank you, Goodwill. 😮
Best shoes I ever bought on Ebay were a pair of Very dark brown Florsheim Imperials which cost me $22 and are beautiful. Although the postal costs from the US seem to have shot up in the last few years they would still have been a bargain at double the price. I have invested in Saphir and can agree it is head and shoulders above the usual High Street polishes. I am currently renovating a pair of Jones Maginot Derby shoes which are shaping up nicely and cost me the princely sum of £4.20-about the price of a good cup of coffee. Ebay has it's detractors but there are still bargains to be had which, with the kind of knowhow you show here, can live again. Thank you.
I struck gold last week. I found 4 pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes at a goodwill here in LA. I knew they were a reputable brand of shoes but i had no idea about the history, craftsmanship and life span of ,Allen Edmonds. I got 4 pairs for 9.99 each and 2 of them are new. No scuffs and the leather feels untouched. Unfortunately they are a size 14 and 15 and I’m an 11. I’m going to sell them to anyone who’s looking for a size:15. Thanks for the info Man!
Excellent video! I just went through this process with a 30$ pair of Johnston and Murphy Aristocraft! The have a small tear in the leather. This video info on the renovatrice gave me the idea to try it out to fill it up!
I did exactly the same thing with some A. Edmonds wingtips from Ebay, much worse shape though. I used something called Garrison Gold Restoration Paste first, which really made it very supple. Made a mistake in going right to the shoe polish. So I stripped it, and used your Saphir Cream to match the tint, and re-waxed. You're right that is an important step to even out the color.
Not a bad job. At first, I began to wonder if you were going to use an edge dressing. Much to my delightful joy, you did! Truly the shoes look significantly better! Semper Fi
That was an excellent video!! Thank you for the demonstration. What a difference the product made....wow. I've never bought shoes on Ebay,..but I've been doing Ebay searches for tan Allen Edmond brogues over the last week or so. I really like your product. Thank you and subscribed.
Hey Kirby. I went to my local Thrift store and bought a pair of Allen Edmonds Player Shoe in either walnut or cognac . Cant wait to use those safir products on these I will send before and after pics. I bought them for 23 canadian dollars about 18 US
I purchased my first pair of Allen Edmonds on ebay and followed your directions from this video. I now have a nice pair of high end dress shoes that I would never been able to pay full retail for. The difference in quality between these and "budget shoes" is clearly noticeable and I can never go back. I proudly wear them to work and at any occasion I can. Are there any special considerations or things that I should be doing to help care for and prolong the life of the insole and inner lining of the shoe? Thank you for all of your informative videos!
That's fantastic! It is really incredible what a good shoe shine can do to a pair of shoes. A well-shined pair of shoes will always look better than a pair that isn't shined at all, regardless of the quality. I'd love to see pictures of your shined-up shoes! Post them on Instagram and tag #hangerproject and #shoeshinesunday
I bought a pair of new brown Florsheim wingtips off ebay a few years ago for a wedding dyed them black , looked great with spit shined toes & heels, still have them like new , wore them last week :)
Do you ever do anything to treat/condition the soles of the shoe and/or the insole? Also, in a similar vein, do you do anything to condition suede? I can brush and treat with waterproofing spray, but if regular leather eventually dries and cracks without conditioner, what's to stop suede from doing the same?
I have the neutral creme and wax color as I have brown and dark navy color shoes. Don't know will it enhance the pigment of the shoes or they are only to shine and nourish them
What a great video. I have a pair of Allen Edmonds kingwood.got them for $9.95.they look great but I need to step up my. Shine game.thanks. again.oh the only problem. Is there tight they are 7.5 d but I think I need a 7.5 e any idea what a can do.stretching maybe.thank you again for the vid
Some comments about Kirby plugging his products, but heck he has to pay for his business, the videos are free but include a little bit of subtle non pushy product placement, but thats fine. I have max respect for what this guy has achieved. I like some smart shoes, but also leather trainers.Above all his videos are hypnotic and a perfect alternative to yoga. Rock on Kirby (I would be interested in a review of your stereo system, headphones, speakers etc -
Glad I stumbled upon this. I have been looking for a place to help me learn best practices in caring for my shoes. I have a few pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes from eBay.
Thank you Kirby for all your knowledge. I really want to purchase a pair of fine shoes like those Allen Edmonds for very little money, as I don’t have $450.00 for new ones. However I don’t want to get burned abs buy a cheap or Fake pair of shoes. Any tips ? Thank you
Kirby, I'd be interested what you would recommend I do immediately (if anything) for my eBay purchases of Park Avenues and Fifth Avenues (10 3E, black) which arrived today. Both far exceeded my expectations. Pictures often do not do shoes justice; the Fifths had a nice matte finish, as if not much product had built up yet. The Parks looked shinier in the photos, and I was afraid they'd be gunked up with Kiwi. Not so; they have a beautiful professional shine, the uppers are essentially in new, pristine condition, and yes, they look polished, but with good products -- they feel extremely supple and soft ('very' is not enough). Since they are not new, I am not of a mind to attack them right away with product. They don't need it. The Parks were $87.00, the Fifths $59.00. After shipping, both pairs totaled $169.89. Perfect fit. Limited sole wear. My lifetime office blacks. So, a] did I do good? and b] what needs to be done right away?
Awesome! Thx so much for the great tutorial. I’ll check out to see if you have a video on repairing detached shoe tips from the soles in women’s high quality Italian leather shoes. But, if you don’t have one made, couple you please do one on it? Thx so much! Megan
Hi Kirby, excellent video, as always. I'm watching from over the pond in England and was taught many years ago by my father that a gentleman would also invest time and effort polishing the waist of the sole. A discreet differentiator only noticed when sitting with your legs crossed, is this not something that's practised in the Sates?
That is a crazy amount of effort and a CRAZY amount of product. I have 20+ year old AE walnut Strands that still look great. I have use AE walnut cream polish on them 3-4 times in 20 years. I wipe them down with a soft damp cloth and then dry them after every 2-3 times I wear them. I use edge dressing as needed. They looking amazing. I have no doubt Saphir products are good. I also have no doubt the are generally completely unnecessary.
Hi Kirby, If you say that the wax polish will crack, then why would you still apply it in the whole shoe? It makes sense to apply it only in the front and back because it does not bend much. I think the white lines when the wax cracks is due to a neutral wax? Or is the the same white line for a brown wax as well?
I have a pair of Strands and Carlyle I purchased on sale sitting in my closet that have yet to be used. While they sit anything I should apply before first use or to keep the leather soft when not in use for extended periods of time?
I have a question, which is how to maintain the mirror shine, now that my cover closed his doors permanently, I went and bought everything from Saphir and want to know how to maintain the mirror shine that I have on my shoes currently.
Great video! Just found the Hanger Project and ready to get started on some project shoes. Question: how much time to wait between applying the edge dressing and a coat of mirror gloss wax polish?
Kirby, I can't tell you how much these videos have helped me improve my wardrobe. Just a question about Allen Edmonds lasts - in your opinion, which of their last number do you think will last the longest? I am looking between last # 65 and #42 and the way in which one typically walks. It seems as though last #65 may handle the usage better because of the way in which the show is created with the toe naturally pointed upward. Last #45, like so many other shoes, looks like it may have to bend more. Long question, so any reply is very appreciated.
Hi Kirby! I got myself a pair of AE Player... Walnut. Shopping for Saphir waxes. Is Cognac a good color for AEs in Walnut? What did color did you use for this? Thanks!
Joshua Foong We're going to film an awesome video on AE color matching this week. We actually recommend light brown. On the website, if you select the polish color, a swatch card appears with polishing notes. Super helpful.
I watched this video more than 10times. It’s very interisting. I’m sad that I cannot no get those kind of shoes with reasonable price in South Korea😂 I love this video lol
The shoe restoration looks fantastic! Would the shoes feel like they have been worn in / moulded to someone else's foot? If so, do you have any suggestions for how to mould the shoe to your foot and how to clean the inside of the shoe so that it's ready to wear and be your 'own' shoe?
The idea of a pair of shoes "molding" to one's foot is nice, but in practices this isn't something that I have ever noticed. Actually, one benefit of buying a pre-owned pair of shoes is the fast that someone else went through the trouble to break them in! Regardless, the more and longer you wear a shoe, it'll readjust to your own foot.
The most important thing I look for is any deep gouging, cracked leather, unraveling stitching. I want to identify damage that cannot be easily fixed. Light scuffing and small scratches can be fixed very easily with polish. Shoe laces can be replaced. And shoes can be fit with new heels and soles for pretty cheap.
I have a pair of walnut McCallisters I bought on eBay last Dec. After many cleaners, creams and wax polishes, I now use Saphir products. I first cleaned up all the junk off the shoes with renomat. After every week of wearing, I clean up with saddle soap and just use renovator. I like my McCallisters to stay as light as possible so I don’t use any pigmented cream or polish. I’m however considering using neutral pommadier cream and/or pate delux...any feedback on my current method/plan? Thanks
At some point you'll inevitably need to use a pigmented cream polish. Just go with a light brown. It shouldn't darken the shoe at all but will help even out the patina and recolor any areas of scuffing or scratching. A Pate de Luxe wax polish would help you create a higher gloss shine, which would definitely look good. The hard waxes also help to protect the leather. I would recommend it. You can always go with a neutral, but the pigment concentration in wax polishes are generally very low anyway.
Thanks for another interesting video. Do you do anything to a used pair of shoes to sanitize them? Also, do you do anything to aid in the shoe forming to a new foot, like wetting the insole so that it forms to your instep, etc.? Please do a follow up video of how you treat the inside of the challenge shoes. I just bid on a couple of pairs on eBay.
No question about Saphir. One of the problems that I did not anticipate ..... having wet shoes. I am not sure of what to do with them, but I did find that using a couple of heat pads, set on a lower temp and allowed them to slowly dry. My only problem was that I use these Allen Edmonds shoes with heavier socks, they were now a tighter fit. I am not sure if this is a correct method, but I filled a small plastic food bag with water and then placed the shoes into the freezer. However, I ran a dry run of freezing the bag first to determine the relative increase after freezing to determine just how much water to use. So far from what I can tell, I didn't destroy them, but I am not sure if this is the proper method. I not sure what the proper methodology for wet shoes....any thoughts on this issue?
Hi Kirby, thank you for this excellent tutorial! I have never bought shoes on eBay but I will use this instructional video to refurbish a pair of Allen Edmonds wingtips that I have been enjoying for over 30 years. I have a question for you regarding how to treat a pair of Boots of New York Italian leather wingtips boots that I have just purchased. I live in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho and I am particularly concerned about if I get caught out in a snow storm with them and want to make sure that they are waterproofed and protected so that they will look good and wear as well as my Allen Edmonds have. Thank you in advance for your thoughts! Ken
Hi Ken - Thank you for your question! I would recommend using the Saphir Super Invulner. It is a nice waterproofing spray, but does not contain any of the resins or silicones of cheaper varieties. It is safe to use on the best leathers. Just spray after you've finished polishing. Once water stops beading, just reapply.
I have these Bugatti tan shoes , they have formed this black patch formed on left shoes which bothers me alot from Changing gear on my bike , any suggestions on how to remove those . I really like those shoes so just wondering if I can bring them back to their original glory ..
Just got a pair of Allen Edmonds' Exchange Place shoes, that I'll have to do this full process on. Noticed a couple areas with scuffs that will need the renovating cream, but overall a good purchase. On the Allen Edmonds site they are going for $197, and I paid $79.50 including shipping.
Great video, however by not stripping the old old finish any residual silicon polish will effect the wax polish regime, additionally the leather sole needs care with a sole care product and lastly any second footed shoes need to be sanitized and aired before wear
So I've seen a few of these videos and I have one question; how do you prevent from catching any potential fungi? It's all well and good to strike and deal and save some cash, but what's the point if you end up with athlete's foot?
And don't forget to factor in your cost for the 5 Parisian products at almost $25 per jar and the $15.00? pair of shoe laces, and your cotton chamois and the genuine horsehair shoe brush!! Forget the labor charges, you would be doing all of this shoe "repair" during conference calls which are making you plenty of *AD's already! Thank you very much but I will stick with my not so shiny 27 year old Rockport Pro Walker shoes with a monthly "massage" treatment of Propert's Boot Cream and a regular passover of Fiebings Saddle Soap to "nourish" them and keep them "soft and supple". They have served me so well that I think I will give them a proper Viking funeral at the end of this summer when the soles finally give out. Now I must go and watch the "Gentleman's Gazette" video to ensure I am "Dressing Your Age" correctly. Down here in Florida, I have customarily dressed in T-shirts, shorts, and flip flops and do not even consider breaking out my "big boy pants" unless the temperatures drop below 50°. [Hmmm, I wonder if Mr. Hanger Project is dressing appropriately for his "Shoe Restoration during a Conference Call" project??] *AD= Almighty Dollar
I wear a size 17 A Allen Edmonds. I found a pair of size black, 10.5 medium split toe, AE's that were STILL online at Nordstrom for 400. The leather soles looked as if they hadn't been worn once--spray the inside with alcohol to disinfect, and 385 dollars are saved.
When I put a glob on a spot to let it soak in the polish cream seems to cake up and then when I go to rub it off it creates a light rub spot in the leather.. is there a way to avoid this and still let the cream soak in (for more than a couple seconds)?
How do you take out transfer stains from clothing? I accidentally washed shirts with a wine coloured skirt and the skirt pigment transferred. What do I do?
Excellent video, Kirby. I have a question. I recently found a great pair of AE loafers on eBay. One fits perfectly while the other is slightly wider in the heel, obviously due to size abnormalities in the previous owner. Could you show a method to resize or shrink a portion of the leather surrounding the heel of a loafer if you know of any other than sending them in for the rebuilding process? Thank you for the videos. Am anxiously awaiting my HP order to restock my shoe shining gear. Thanks!

Subbed.
Kirby - I am a t-shirt and jeans guy. Dressing up for me would be khakis and a polo shirt. But I love watching your videos! From shaving to shining!
That's interesting. I normally use it before applying a pigmented cream polish!
You won't be disappointed! Let us know if you have any questions!
Amazing videos and keep it up
Incredible! Thank you for sharing!
Splendid! Thank you so much! I've just ordered a load of your saphir products for looking after these boots, I shall apply your advice forthwith.
The Hanger Project Can you do a separate video on how you lace it? 16:42 to 16:58
Your hands partially blocked it when you do the last knot.
Thanks
Exelent video. Do people treat lether outer sole with some product on regular base or this is bit of the overkill?
Well I went from knowing nothing about wax to ordering a full on setup of brown saphir from your website to protect my recent investment in higher end shoes.
You're good at promoting product! :)
Great video Kurby, I'm always afraid to buy used shoes, how would you clean/disinfect the inside of used shoes?
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I just came across your video and channel looking for ways to take care of my shoes. I’ll probably be binge watching today! Haha. Much appreciate! Please continue to share!
Thanks! We have a ton of videos. Start with our Basic Shoe Shine video...
Awesome, the shoes look fantastic. $50, some polish, and elbow grease. Great job!
That's awesome! They sound incredible. Sorry they didn't fit!
Excellent video! I just went through this process with a 30$ pair of Johnston and Murphy Aristocraft! The have a small tear in the leather. This video info on the renovatrice gave me the idea to try it out to fill it up!
Alan Hickerson fantastic! Yes, at the renovating repair cream can be very helpful with cracked leather.
Adding pigment super important!
Not a bad job. At first, I began to wonder if you were going to use an edge dressing. Much to my delightful joy, you did! Truly the shoes look significantly better! Semper Fi
Yes. Edge dressing imperative. Sometimes we omit it from videos, but it's only because of time constraints.
looks like a nice cool pair of AE Sanford, I've been doing this buying preowned then restore all the times, glad that you started this series!
Scott's Corner of Fun and Exploration same here. Just starting to do that bet saves plenty of cash and is fun at the same time
It's amazing. You can really find some great stuff on eBay. Lightly worn stuff in great condition that with a little care can look almost new!
Kirby Allison I bought park avenue coffee, should I use medium brown or dark brown saphir polish ?
That was an excellent video!! Thank you for the demonstration. What a difference the product made....wow. I've never bought shoes on Ebay,..but I've been doing Ebay searches for tan Allen Edmond brogues over the last week or so. I really like your product. Thank you and subscribed.
Thanks!
Hey Kirby. I went to my local Thrift store and bought a pair of Allen Edmonds Player Shoe in either walnut or cognac . Cant wait to use those safir products on these I will send before and after pics. I bought them for 23 canadian dollars about 18 US
Can we use a large (6"?) cotton or muslin rag wheel on a Lathe to put the final shine onto our shoes?
Hi Kirby, may I know how to get rid of the imprint in the insole? Must we resole the shoes or is there another easier trick?
Which color of Pâte de Luxe wax polish should be used for Chili and Dark Chili shoes? Thank you.
I bought a pair of new brown Florsheim wingtips off ebay a few years ago for a wedding dyed them black , looked great with spit shined toes & heels, still have them like new , wore them last week :)
Excellent idea Kirby! I will check for some wingtips on eBay!
If i had sold my shoes on ebay and then Kirby bought and restored them i'd probably buy them back for twice as much. What an honor that would be.
Hey. What color renovatrice is the best color match for the AE walnut?
Could you make a video on the cleaning process for leather weave shoes, please?
Hi again ..what exact cream polish did u use? It looks like orange but u said light brown
Ed Terrace I can't speak for everyone but things are so casual here, overall, I'd say no.
Hi Kirby,
If you say that the wax polish will crack, then why would you still apply it in the whole shoe? It makes sense to apply it only in the front and back because it does not bend much.
I think the white lines when the wax cracks is due to a neutral wax? Or is the the same white line for a brown wax as well?
I have a pair of Strands and Carlyle I purchased on sale sitting in my closet that have yet to be used. While they sit anything I should apply before first use or to keep the leather soft when not in use for extended periods of time?
Definitely keep them in shoe bags. Maybe take them out and condition them every once in a while.
I have a question, which is how to maintain the mirror shine, now that my cover closed his doors permanently, I went and bought everything from Saphir and want to know how to maintain the mirror shine that I have on my shoes currently.
I have a question about the video. What do you do about mildew-smelling dress shoes?
Kirby Anderson I got a question for you my name is Jason and I would like to know how you take off your suit jackets
Is it possible to get creases out of leather shoes? I've seen some nice shoes at thrift shops, but they're always creased to high hell and back.
I have this same question. Have seen some using a heat gun over a shoe tree, does that work?
10:48 🤔 , i've tried buffing off with another shoe before , but in stead of fixing the cracks, i cracked my shoe in half.
Great video! Just found the Hanger Project and ready to get started on some project shoes. Question: how much time to wait between applying the edge dressing and a coat of mirror gloss wax polish?
You don't need to wait any longer than a few minutes.
Could you do a video like this for leather belt. Doesn't seem to be much information on this.
Man....you have taught me a ton. I want to get some supplies
Got a tan pair of Grenson boots, it seems the dye of the leather started disappearing. Is there any way to recreate that burnished toe effect ?
Maybe an odd question but where did you find that Goyard trunk in the background of the video? It's so nice!
What color renovating repair creme would you recommend to match Allen Edmonds dark chili?
I haven't seen any AEs shoes on ebay in that state for such a price. The ones like Kirby polished here cost around $130 on ebay.
I watched this video more than 10times.
It’s very interisting. I’m sad that I cannot no get those kind of shoes with reasonable price in South Korea😂
I love this video lol
The shoe restoration looks fantastic! Would the shoes feel like they have been worn in / moulded to someone else's foot? If so, do you have any suggestions for how to mould the shoe to your foot and how to clean the inside of the shoe so that it's ready to wear and be your 'own' shoe?
in addition what do you look for when buying a pre-owned shoe in terms of wear and tear from the inside?
Can the natural color Saphir mirror gloss wax polish be used any color shoe?
Kirby Anderson my name is Jason my question is how do you take off your suit jacket
Since these are used how do you clean the insides?
I wonder what products a professional shoe shiner uses to shine shoes? I like the affect water has on the final shine.
What is a better wax, Saphir or Allen edmond? Or is it just preference
Do I have to remove the polish built up in the pitting of the brogues?
I have these Bugatti tan shoes , they have formed this black patch formed on left shoes which bothers me alot from Changing gear on my bike , any suggestions on how to remove those . I really like those shoes so just wondering if I can bring them back to their original glory ..
You might see what the Saphir Reno'mat is able to do... but bicycle chain grease is probably pretty difficult to remove.
How do you get rid of the crusty foot residue from the last dude to wear them?
excellent piece, I use Saphir product , I think its the very best. I hadn't heard of the sole dressing butwill search it out.
Thanks for the comment!
Impressed, thanks for showing your skills and tricks.
Thanks!
Great video, however by not stripping the old old finish any residual silicon polish will effect the wax polish regime, additionally the leather sole needs care with a sole care product and lastly any second footed shoes need to be sanitized and aired before wear
first time on this channel wasn't disappointed. Great video looking forward to seeing more of these shoe restoration videos !
omar aguirre Thanks!
So I've seen a few of these videos and I have one question; how do you prevent from catching any potential fungi? It's all well and good to strike and deal and save some cash, but what's the point if you end up with athlete's foot?
the old owner be emailing you to have it back LMAO good job
We're going to relist the shoes. See if I can double my money. ;)
I got a deer bone from you last month its working amazing for my cordovan shoes. Will get more stuff soon :)
Then you can get back your $15 shipping. 👍🏻
Hanger Project is dressing appropriately for his "Shoe Restoration during a Conference Call" project??]
*AD= Almighty Dollar
@@kirbyallison So, how'd it work out with selling them?
I wear a size 17 A Allen Edmonds. I found a pair of size black, 10.5 medium split toe, AE's that were STILL online at Nordstrom for 400. The leather soles looked as if they hadn't been worn once--spray the inside with alcohol to disinfect, and 385 dollars are saved.
Jesus. $50 for the shoes, $200 worth of polish
You could get by with just $50 of polish: the Saphir Pommadier Cream Polish and the Saphir Pate de Lux Wax Polish.
I was thinking the exact same thing lmao.
Haha, just use a less expensive brand (but please, stay away from Kiwi!).
@@lelandunruh7896 shit, I recently bought kiwi. what's wrong with that brand?
Or you can buy brands that have been around for decades and are a couple bucks.
When I put a glob on a spot to let it soak in the polish cream seems to cake up and then when I go to rub it off it creates a light rub spot in the leather.. is there a way to avoid this and still let the cream soak in (for more than a couple seconds)?
Apply a smaller amount of polish in thinner layers.
How do you clean your chamois and brush.
What is meant by double sole. Are they custom
How do you take out transfer stains from clothing? I accidentally washed shirts with a wine coloured skirt and the skirt pigment transferred. What do I do?
Nothing you can do, sadly...
Thanks!
