- The Entire Goku Black Arc | Dragon Ball Super Manga
The Goku Black Arc in the Dragon Ball Super Manga starts after the events of the Universe 6 Tournament Saga. Although we've seen these events play out in the anime before, the manga takes a different route, which turned out much better! Future Trunks' timeline is in trouble once again, as we witness him escaping from what seems at first to be another Android. However it turns out to be a new enemy, who mysteriously has the face of Goku, but a heart full of malice and hatred. Trunks manages to escape this threat, running back to the past to ask for the help of Goku and his friends, who of course agree to fight. The Dragon team meet new allies and enemies. One of them being Zamasu, a trainee under the Supreme Kai of Universe 10 Gowasu. His hatred for all mortals attracts suspicion to his true motives, causing the likes of Beerus and Whis to step in and investigate, as even the God of Destructions life itself is in danger!
The fate of Gods and Mortals align in the battle for the Future, but not before our warriors receive power ups of their own to make the battle more interesting. Will Goku and Vegeta be able to hold their own against those who are said to be above them in strength? How will they fare against an enemy who shares the same face? Find out what happens next here!

i really like the manga version except for one difference. future trunks didn’t talk to present gohan. i feel like trunks seeing how his old mentor transformed was a super cool moment as he saw gohan fulfill his dreams. especially when getting the final goodbye from gohan in the anime.
Actually he did talk to Gohan
And gohan is the reason Trunks left the main timeline
@@uvr4402 in an extra chapter, which makes all their relation pointless
@@mohamedlamin2968 yeah bro
@@uvr4402 trunks is like "nah, my mentor in this timeline become a huge nerd i rather be killed by zamasu then train with him."

Lmao 💀
Goku pulling a "Chill Eren" moment 😅
The manga version actually cleared up a big plot hole in the anime version of the arc, which is how the original black came to be. In the anime it’s implied that Goku’s meeting with Zamasu is what set him on the road to becoming Goku black which doesn’t make sense because Goku’s encounter with black is what led to him going to meet Zamasu and it ended up feeling like a time loop. I like the version here where Zamasu hears about Goku from Supreme Kai and then witnesses him going god against Hit.
I mean the anime version isn't really that bad and makes sense too when you think about it.
It's a time paradox
@@BLACKSTA361 that's why it doesn't make sense like there is no beginning itself and how did the loop even come to be
@@Coolguy-or8ex franchises that use time do this all the time. Big example being back to the future,or King of fighters
ok
We already knew that. Zamasu never had to meet Goku to set him on his path. He took interest in Goku due to witnessing the U6 Tournament on Godtube. The implication in the anime is that the original Zamasu simply took Goku's body after watching the U6 Tournament and finding out that Goku has the power of gods.
I honestly like how much more brutal the manga feels compared to the anime. Zamasu being chopped up into piles of limbs and Black’s twisted grin with a sword through his chest is just something extra that didn’t need to be there but honestly makes it far better than the anime.
The anime was aimed at a slightly younger audience. It was also accelerated to be out in time with Akira and his apprentice (who is taking the mantle of dragon ball) doing the manga and doing it how they want.
The manga was always more graphic. Back when gohan beat up the cell juniors, it was very graphic such as guts, eyeballs and brains flying out.
the amount of ungodly things i'd do to that pfp would probably crown as king of the universe
@@raiden64Uh, sir? 😂
@@raiden64wtf raiden
As someone who hasn’t read the manga, I’m quite surprised at how different it was compared to the show. Definitely didn’t expect currupt fusion zamasu to be an anime only thing too.
Yeah this fused zamasu is better honestly since his moves were cooler and he could multiply
While I liked Corrupted Merged Zamasu in the anime, I prefer the manga version with the failed defusion that also let the Trunks slicing him in half make more sense.
@@GiggyWiggy2086No.
@@tylerhartley5031Yes
Definitely prefer the 2nd half in the manga than the anime since ssg was used perfectly and I love how they used it like goku did in the anime version of the tournament of power.
Ssg usage was dumb, literally in the previous chapter they explained the action of transforming into Ssj blue drains your power like crazy to a tenth of its original power(this was described in Vegetas fight against hit). The in the next arc Vegeta goes in and out of the form like he’s playing with a light switch and there’s no power drain like before because Toyotaro forgot about his line he made to make Vegeta seem stronger. This line wasn’t in the anime tho.
@@thatoneguy3253
Vegeta went to train before he pulled the move off.
Goku even mentions that Vegeta has mastered the technique.
@@thepieofyourlife4799 yeah my point is that Toyotaro only made that dumb line to make Vegeta seem stronger (cause he’s a Vegeta fanboy as he says in multiple interviews) then in the next arc it’s like it never happened. How did he master it? When did he have time to master it? and how come Goku was able to do it too even though he was surprised about Vegeta being able to do it? It was purely a dumb throwaway line just to make Vegeta seem stronger than he is then the next chapter they rushed over dumb details making the story not make sense. If you think the anime was bad try reading the manga from the start and really pay attention and you’ll notice way more plot holes/inconsistencies/bad writing. If you look at old reviews from the fandom back then, everyone said the anime was better and that the manga had cool ideas but sloppy execution. There’s a weird recency bias towards the manga and I’ve noticed where y’all are forgetting about how bad Toyotaro was before the Moro arc which even then that arc wasn’t perfect but it was easily the best thing he’s produced.
@@thatoneguy3253I think it also depended on how much power you used to Transform. If he’s just blipping in and out, the drain should still be minimum, especially since there’s been a good time gap since the Tournament so it’s likely Vegeta and Goku trained to compensate some of it.
@thatoneguy3253 i get you want goku to be #1 in any given scenario, but it's never that deep
The manga is one million times better than the anime itself. Just imagine cc goku in a manga😅. Btw, love the vid
I agree 100%. The anime did better in SOME aspects, but not many. Thanks bro! 💯🔥
@@justinsden the Best thing anime did is Goku Black character although kinda sacrificed Zamasu and Goku and the usage Of God
There are definitely many things that the manga version of the arc did better than the anime version, such as make Goku less stupid in his mistakes, better explaining super saiyan rosé, showing how truly outclassed Merged Zamasu was in comparison to Vegito Blue, introducing Vegeta as a super saiyan god, showing Zamasu and Goku Black backed into a corner to force them to fuse, Goku actually trying to stop the fusion, bringing up how Zamasu also should have a time limit with potara fusion since he was never officially made into a supreme kai, and seeing Merged Zamasu afraid of being erased by future Zeno. However, there are some things handled better in the anime, such as Future Trunks has more involvement in the anime, Zamasu having a personal and more legitimate reason for stealing Goku's body, the better handling of the mystery behind Goku Black, and arguably better fights and teamwork with Goku and Vegeta.
@@justinsden I would been in heaven if there was db super kai with only manga scenes

Watching this recap of the manga version of the Goku Black arc really makes me wish majority of the manga would be anime adapted compared to the small amount that was already in there and the massive differences in there
I completely agree. I WILL say the Tournament of Power in the anime was better OVERALL than the manga. The manga did have some better parts tho.
@@justinsden yeah, personally the best anime/manga difference in my opinion is when Goku used Kaioken with Ssj Blue in the anime, its always a treat when popular shows brings back things that fills us with nostalgia, and Kaioken was a big moment for that. And it also did what i assume a lot of Z fans wanted to happen and that was if Goku was ever gonna combine Kaioken with super saiyan 1-3
Manga did the overall story better while I think presentation wise like fights or characters the anime did better. I would love to see one day a Super Kai version where it combines the strengths of both versions if they ever do that DB remake that was brought up
Those are good points. One thing I liked about the anime version better was the farewell between Gohan and Trunks. I thought that was nice. Other than that though, I feel the manga did it better
@justinsden true. Oddly enough the manga canon makes the anime make more sense too.
Super saiyan rage from Trunks in the anime is fan service.
If it was in the manga it would be another result of him being a Kai's apprentice
YES I would love to have a "Super Kai" one day that combines the best aspects of the different Super continuities.
I also appreciate how raw and brutal the manga version is, hopefully if they do something like Super Kai they keep the same energy. Zamasu getting cut in half + Goku black smirking with a sword through his chest is edgy as hell
The anime was cool but I definitely prefer the manga version of this arc, specifically with Super Saiyan God being used in this arc. Crazy that it took the Broly movie to finally see Vegeta use it in the anime
Great points. I thought the same thing about Vegeta’s Super Saiyan God.
I agree but they should’ve atleast gave trunks his rage form tbh
@@sadevillainx Rage form is still an asspull = to spirit sword.
@@sadevillainx His Rage Form is the reason I hated the ending of the Arc in the anime.
@@joelt9034Same but it's also ironic how the manga explains Trunks Rage form could also be from his potential being unlocked the same way it was for Mystic Gohan.
I just now realized this but the bottom right panel at 34:52 is a reference to Return of Cooler when they fought the horde of Metal Coolers.
I actually think they did the goku black reveal way better in the anime, for more symbolic reasons rather than how it actually looked (the actual aesthetics goes to the manga, since it doesn't even look like goku when black's shadow is shown, but then the reveal would come more as a surprise since it was on the next page). In the manga, as can be seen, goku black is standing directly in front of trunks, but in the anime, he is standing on a tall piece of rubble, symbolic of his much higher status and (was to be inevitably revealed) his strength. And the much more intense flames surrounding him in the anime symbolising his destructive capabilities, a havoc on humanity.
🔥🔥
Didn't even look like him or a humanoid at all in the anime either. Dude was on some JK Rowling Tim Burton shit.
Manga was so much better to my surprise reading it after having watched the anime. Gohan' goodbye to Trunks its probably my favourite moment tho.
What i like about the manga is that ssb is wayyy better represented. In the goku black arc, ssb is treated as a more powerful transformation than the god form but it comes with the cost of it being extremely stamina/ki draining. They treat it like the a grade 1 ssj and goku and vegeta was able to master it.
It's really sad that Vegeta wanted to fuse with Goku, after he heard from Trunks, what Future Bulma wanted to do.
She wanted to return to the past to see Vegeta again and to be happy one last time..
Unfortunately she was killed by the face of her best friend.
My heart always bleeds when i see Future Bulma..

Hearts from Super Dragon Ball Heroes rolling in his grave
The manga version of the Goku black arc is personally in my opinion far better than the anime's version in terms of writing. Because every moment makes sense and there's an explanation for it.
Though unfortunately, both versions still end with the pointless conclusion of Trunks'timeline being erased and him living with a copy of himself.
Great point. Not a fan of Trunks' ending but at least the Manga played it out better.
@@justinsden if you think about it, future trunks and mai 'could' have stayed, but instead of living with the z team, they would start fresh on the opposite side of the world, gone off world exploring or even retire from fighting since they are a bit outclassed with everything afterwards, makes the ending more bearable if you ask me.
@@wdp1a73r thats a great point.
Good video, you ningen!!
my headcanon is that he fused with the other trunks permanently to make him Ttrruunnkkss
Something I liked that the anime did is the mystery behind who Black is. The reveal that it was Zamasu in Goku's body was better in the anime with how unexpected it was. Especially when Black said "This is the body of Goku, down to the last battle scar. But the mind isn't"
I like this version better than the anime, except for one thing: Goku Black never busted out that ki scythe during his fight with Vegeta. I know that’s a small gripe considering how much the narrative was improved upon, but I still miss it.
This arc is my favorite all time no crap . Storyline 10/10
Fused Zamasu in the manga was SO MUCH BETTER than he was in the anime.
HOLY LORD!!!
the part where he split up and suddenly started multiplying like Majin buu and somehow just magically transformed into merged Zamasu again without fusing was completely bullshit and garbage. its sad to see how they fucked up the ending in both versions of this story
Unlike how the anime didn't explain how Infinite Zamasu worked, the manga did and I think it was aight.
But in all seriousness, it did lead to an ending just as bad when it comes to the Goku Black arc.
Except for the fact that Zamasu stated that he had a time machine in u12. And with his ability to use Kai Kai, the main two Zamasus might have warped when they needed to most.
Meaning they are probably alive in the manga.

What do you guys think about the Goku Black Arc? 🤔
My thoughts: The Goku Black Arc is one of the BEST in the MANGA. Black is such an amazing villain, and the battles are so action packed! I love it! ❤️
My favorite arc with the best villains in DB
After watching this video I feel like the arc wasn’t that great, and the anime did a worse version towards the end of it with rage trunks and the spirit swords, also I have to say goku black felt like much more of a separate characters in the anime compared to the manga, I feel like trunks didn’t get as much screen time in the manga as he did in the anime
I love the arc but the ending though...
I hate the Manga Version trunks was Irrelevant Goku Black was ruined and Goku never had chance to fight black an deals with zamasu for the entire arc
And Goku needing god to beat trunks
All though I like Perfected Blue SSJ Goku Black Goku Using Hakai God Vegeta And Gamma Burst Flash
@@XJSPlays02 a weird trade, in manga we get a better Zamasu and in anime se get a better Goku Black
I think the anime does some stuff better but also vice versa. I really like the super saiyan gods used in the manga while I also really enjoy more screen time of vegito, sword of hope and corrupted zamasu in the anime. And gohan waving goodbye to trunks when leaving has to be one of the hardest hitting scenes in super
Facts. Great points!
Wait im confused. In the manga which Zamasu did beerus kill?
@@zenitsuthunder3946 Main Timeline Zamasu. Goku Black was originally from the main timeline, but Future Trunks’ warning led to Beerus killing Zamasu before he could make his wish - which resulted in an alternate timeline (hence the creation of another ring).
This is a much smoother time travel narrative than in the anime, where Goku Black’s existence is a complete paradox.
Also in the anime Zamasu and black just felt way more composed and scary but in the manga they were infighting and Zamasu was crying any time they got pushed back. The rest of it should've gone the manga way tho. Like Vegeta pummeling SS black until Rose is pulled out. Also apparently zenkai boosts are still viable in the manga which idk if I like that
Eww, imagine liking that literal A-pull Spirit bomb sword bs lmfao

I can't help but feel so bad for poor old Gowasu. He must've thought that this was all his fault.
I do have to admit the manga is way better but the moment in the anime where vegito shouts “vegito BLUE!” Was an amazing moment 😅
This was insanely well narrated and would really like to see more.
Thanks bro. I have some other Manga Arc summaries on my channel and more to come. I appreciate the support!
I love the infinite Zamasu in the manga, wish it was animated
Infinite Zamasu in the Manga is scary af, there's a lot of merged zamasus in EVERY FREAKIN' PLACE and ready to beat the crap of someone.
As someone somewhat familiar with this arc in the anime, I was astonished that the part where Zamasu merges with reality and paints the sky with his evil grin was absent from the manga. That's the part where they summon Zeno to erase this completely twisted reality, as opposed to here where they gave up just cuz there was a bunch of Zamasu running around.
Of the many differences between the anime and manga pointed out by other commenters, this one stands out to me the most.
I like how the anime made it more justifiable to destroy the timeline as Zamasu seemingly wiped out all life everywhere.
But in the manga there where probably still some survivors on Earth and certainly more in the rest of their universe & the other ones, making Goku accidentally complicit in their deaths.
@@randeli7785Smoothie brain, Black and Zamasu already wiped out everyone on Earth before Goku and Vegeta came back. There's no one except Mai and Trunks in that Earth (which means Asspull spirit bomb Sword is even more impossible to pull out)
I remember watching this arc in the anime and it is definitely one of my favorites, I also remember “HOLD YOUR FIRE!, This man isn’t Black” which had me laughing
I really like the original story in the manga, but the anime did goku black's introduction so much better in my opinion, still enjoyable nonetheless tho
Only because it came first so it has the advantage of Mystery, while we already know who is Black by the time Manga covered the Arc.
The anime version of this came out a long time before the manga did
The Manga version makes so much more sense.
Trunks in anime: SWORD OF HOPE
trunks in manga: haha healing power
The manga did this arc sooo much better, even the little bits of filler are actually good ngl

Okay this a lot better than the one in anime they should do a movie on this .
does toriyama remember that Mai is like an old woman technically 😂
Yea, I really don't get and hate this relationship. I guess somewhere in the anime they tried to retcon and say pilaf made a wish before piccolo died...
Manga definitely does the Black Arc better. But the anime does the ToP arc better than manga.
And honestly Ultra Instinct should've been hinted in this Arc

Thank you for this ☺️ I wanted to view again black Goku saga but reading was kinda time consuming so thanks
No problem! Glad you enjoyed it!
This manga is fucking goated holy fuck. The lore is unreal. I can't believe the anime missed out all of this
Thats what I’m saying!!
The last scene i really loved about infinite Zamasu not hundreds of Zamasu like meta cooler movie. We already have seen that. But the zamasu the world himself explained how bigger threate he was that even beerus and whis felt it from the past. If it was late who knows Zamasu spread in the past too.
The idea of infinite Zamasu was scary and it would be more scary if they made it scarier face and hell like environment. It was already hell but final episode should have done with better animation.
The infinite zamasu concept was new experience. And did gave us the pain of losing for (Dragonball anime 😒)
The anime is SILLIVS SODDVS. It is just false True Form Darkseid.
@@sussyangel7492i don't know much about Darksiders but what do you mean by that?
Eww, the Anime Infinite Zamasu doesn't make a lick of sense, basically an Asspull after an Asspull made by Trunks (who is using an Asspull OC form that's basically just a More yellow hair)
The cat easily survived the extinction of the future universe
I LOVE this arc and the anime version don't care what anyone else says however acknowledge that the manga version is better. The time travel plot and Zamasu are compelling and the anime is somewhat faithful more than people let on but i do not like Goku using Hakai at all but like the reference to metal cooler and his army of clones.
I would say the Anime version of "trying to uncover the identity" was my favourite....here they just got the news on platter
And the connection between Zamasu and Goku was much stronger in the anime as zamasu experienced his strength first hand......which makes sense why it would drive him to take Goku's body
+Anime gave us a well deserved fight between vegito and merged/fused zamasu
Other than that this one was definitely brutal.....
This is where vegito return again
Cause this manga was new we only see black goku in anime turning rose
In the manga we can see ordinary saiyan black

This has to be one of the most confusing arcs ever but in a good way. I don't understand how these timelines work
Trunks must be related to Frieza for his durability holding off Goku black and Zamasu while Goku and Vegeta get away 😭
After all he is vegeta's son vegeta also has great durability
I really wish they animated the part with zamasu making the clones of himself it gave heavy metal cooler fight energy and I loved it would’ve been amazing to see

Shout out to Future Mai for being the bravest human who can’t fly
I swear Whis and the rest of the Angles will be the penultimate villain in the series. They’re so elegant yet mysterious in the way they talk and knowledge they have. They’re so interesting. Something just tells me Whis is going to randomly flip one day…
The manga definitely had a way better pacing than the anime as well as cut some pretty unnecessary (like dumb Goku and him not knowing what kissing is).
If somehow we could fuse the manga and the anime together then the ending of the anime would make a lot more sense because it establishes that trunks has been training under the kais meaning that it’s not completely random for him to know the spirit bomb (and then to put it in his sword).
Wow good point!!
This is by far one of the best arc there is in the Manga!
My favorite about it is not about Zamasu or Goku or Vegeta or even Trunks, it is Gowasu that I've seen the most interesting one.
In the anime version, Gowasu is portrayed as a weak, very careless, less responsible, less wiser, and a tea-loving old man who also has a sheer and utter like of Godtube. However, manga version really boosted him.
He was shown as a much more stronger character and is even braver despite of his old age. He literally went up in front of Zamasu and Goku Black without even thinking about his own safety just so can at least try to persuade his former student for the greater good of everything. Not only that, he also amazingly took responsible for everything that had happen within that timeline, but unlike his anime version, Gowasu actually tried to restore everything back by using his own abilities despite of his old age. That alone is enough to consider him a very worthy Kaiôshin; to think that even tho' he's possibly the eldest Supreme Kai, he still didn't let his own fear take over him which made him to decide that he would time travel to future just so he can try to stop it using his own knowledge; that's what we call an unwavering will.
And I'm not done yet! Gowasu actually explained the actual definition of a Kaiôshin to all of us. He showed that even with all chaos, there would still be order upon the Universe and he explained that a Kaiôshin's duty is to observe and maintain order and balance. This directly contradicted Zamasu's ideology of his own Justice; Gowasu told us that you can't have order or balance without the need of chaos and destruction, another divine concept that explains the division of Kaiôshins and Gods of Destruction (Kaiôshins portrays order while Gods of Destruction portrayes chaos and both alined will create balance). Gowasu is the perfect definition of a Kaiôshin and the Greatest Kaiôshin there's ever been in my opinion 💯💯💯!
Too bad the anime just went straight ahead and made Gowasu a tea-loving grandpa.
Bro your explanation is amazing!!Hope you get more views and support bro all the love🤍🔥

This arc had so much potential. I was hoping it was a Goku from a different timeline who didn’t hit his head and actually became evil and took over his universe n now is going for future trunks
That would be a cool concept. It would have to be executed well though.
Yall do know that hit on the head is why Goku is Goku right lol without Goku wouldn't have been stronger then Vegeta because Goku wouldn't have had masters .. he would've destroyed them all
I think everybody wished it was actually kakarott instead of stolen body Goku.
The anime never did that either. The concept of Goku black was zamasu in goku’s body in both versions
