  • This upload dates from April 1991, and we see some late afternoon action at London Euston. All electric action on this one, the highlight being a class 81 on an ECS move, Willesden had two class 81s for such duties at this time. Main line Inter-City workings were in the hands of class 86, 87 & 90s while Network SouthEast class 313 & 321 EMUs were on the local services. If you liked the video please subscribe to my channel, there are lots more transport & quirky vids to upload!

    Superb! Euston is a cracking station and certainly during that period. Such variety compared to the crap we have to put up with these days. Cheers, Jeremy.

    There's a fairly decent chance 9 year old me was watching these services thunder (and trundle) through Wembley Central. My Grandmother used to take train obsessed me to a carpark behind BHS where I'd spend hours watching, mesmerised. I distinctly remember clinging to a chain link fence as the 321's went through at speed approaching Euston. They almost felt on top of me. Terrifying and thrilling in equal measure!
    I've said it before, I'll say it again.... Marvellous stuff Soi!

    Bloody hell ive never seen a 81 dragging a DVT that is very rare, well played

    • @ModelRailway
      @ModelRailway 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even more weird ... the 87 on the rear of the train also had it’s pantograph raised! Possibly providing ETH for the train with the 81 just providing traction?

    • @wgcameraman4650
      @wgcameraman4650 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModelRailway maybe the TDM failed on the DVT so the 81 dragged it in to avoid having to run round the 87.

      I thought the DVTs were the reason the 81/83s finally got sent to the scrapper as no need for empty coaching stock duties anymore

    • @wgcameraman4650
      @wgcameraman4650 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tomarse99 that happened eventually but there were still a lot of loco-hauled trains at this time. When some HSTs were displaced to the WCML from the ECML by the Class 91s, then it became less necessary for as many loco hauled trains.

      It could have been a move to get the 81 back to Euston, or maybe the driver hadn't yet been trained on the DVT's.......

    • @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus
      @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was in the period when the DVTs were being introduced, it could well be that set was booked for the 81 to haul it to Euston and that it was unknown what coaching set was in use until the last minute. The 81 was still need to get back to Euston for its next booked move.....It made for great filming though......
